**BONUS** INSIDE TAYLOR'S TORTURED MIND: Shocking New Video Exposes Dark Metaphors and Hidden Meanings

03 Calarrogashawk Media. Hi, and welcome to another episode of Taylor Swift. Today. I'm your host, Annalie's idol. Taylor Swift has once again taken the world by storm with the release of her highly anticipated eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department. The album dropped at midnight on Friday, and just two hours later, Swift surprised fans by revealing that it was actually a double album, dropping an additional fifteen tracks for a total of one hundred twenty two minutes of new music. To kick off the album's release, Swift debuted the music video for Fortnite featuring post Malone on Friday evening. The black and white video is filled with metaphors and references to the album's themes, with Swift and post Malone portraying tortured tragic heroes in various settings, from a psych ward to a room full of vintage typewriters. The video also features a pear pearances by Ethan Hawk and Josh Charles, who starred in the nineteen eighty nine film Dead Poet Society. In an Instagram post about the music video, Swift wrote, when I was writing the Fortnite music video. I wanted to show you the worlds I saw in my head that served as the backdrop for making this music.

19 Pretty Much everything in it is a metaphor or a reference to one corner of the album or another. For me, this video turned out to be the perfect visual representation of this record and the stories I tell in it. Swift also started a new YouTube shorts challenge, inviting fans to share their own Fortnite recaps using the hashtag for a Fortnight Challenge. Her own montage features snippets of her personal life, including moments with her boyfriend Travis, as the Fortnite track plays in the background. With thirty one new tracks to explore, fans have been eagerly dissecting the lyrics, which touch on themes of relationship trauma, mental health, and the tortured artists experience. One standout track is the upbeat electro pop bop I Can Do It with a Broken Heart, in which Swift sings about performing on her record breaking Era's tour while dealing with the aftermath of her breakup with longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn. I'm so depressed. I act like it's my birthday every day I'm so obsessed with him, but he avoids me like a plague. I cry a lot, but I am so productive. It's an art. You know you're good when you even can do it with a broken heart, she sings. They said, Babe, you gotta fake it till you make it, and I did. Lights camera, bitch, smile even when you want to die. He said he'd love me all his life, but that life was too short. Breaking down, I hit the floor.

45 All the pieces of me shattered as the crowd was chanting more. While most of us can't relate to performing for stadium sized crowds while grieving a breakup, many can understand the urge to throw themselves into work during difficult times. As clinical therapist Britt Barkholtz explains, productive distractions like throwing yourself into work or other projects can be particularly compelling to us because, unlike a more passive distraction like maybe watching TV or reading a book, productive distractions provide some tangible output that can give you a sense of control and agency and competency, which can feel like a much needed balm. In another standout track, but Daddy, I Love Him Swift seems to clap back at critics who have wasted time bitching and moaning about her love life throughout her career. The song, which some speculate is about her short lived fling with Mattie Healy, puts her relationships into the perspective of a small town of judgmental churchgoers. I'd rather burn my whole life down than listen to one more second of all this bitching and moaning, she asserts, declaring her good name hers alone to disgrace, and not that of the vipers dressed in mpath's clothing. Album also features a surprising credit for actress Emma Stone, who is listed in the linear notes for the song Florida featuring Florence and the Machine as having contributed oddities. This isn't the first time Stone has been associated with one of Swift's songs. Last year, Swift released

16 a track titled When Emma Falls in Love on her re recorded version of Speak Now, which fans speculated was written about the actress more in a moment. To celebrate the album's release, Swift sent luxurious gift packages to a select few NFL wags, including Kristin Jusick, wife of forty nine Ers star Kyle Jusick. And Cariah Gordon, girlfriend of Chiefs player Mikole Hardman Junior. The packages included loungeware sets with the album name stitched on, bracelets featuring the out A's emblem, and even a vinyl copy of the album with a handwritten note from Swift herself. Swift's close friendship with Britney Mahomes, wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has also been in the spotlight, with Mahomes quickly reacting to the album's release on Instagram despite being away in Cabo. The penultimate song on the album, The Alchemy, appears to contain multiple references to football and Swift's boyfriend Travis Kelcey, with lyrics like cheers chanting because they said there was no chance trying to be the greatest in the league. Where's the trophy? He just comes running over to me. Some fans have even speculated that the line about amateurs is aimed at Kelsey's teammate Cadarius Tony, who endured an inconsistent season despite the Chief's Super Bowl victory. The Tortured Poet's Department has already broken records,

50 becoming Spotify's most streamed album in a single day. And cementing Swift's status as the most streamed artist in a single day. As fans continue to unpack the album's many layers and Easter eggs, it's clear that Swift's rain as one of her generation's greatest artists shows no signs of slowing down.
