Welcome to Synth Pop Symphony episode 308. I am Matt Williams and this is my not-so-famous end of year spectacular. Tonight's show is about highlighting the best new original music that passed through the synth-driven world in 2025. The songs that stood out stayed in rotation and earned their place on Synth Pop Symphony. But this year I'm doing things a little bit differently because Synth Pop Symphony is different. For this recap, I'm not only focusing on original releases this year, but I'm also highlighting the best remakes and the best remixes of the year. Some of those remixes are reworks of newer material, but most often than not, they're classic songs, reimagined, updated, and some cases even improved. What matters isn't the age, it's the impact. These are the records you heard this year, the ones that lasted, and the ones that meant something in clubs, on radio, and in your headphones. So before we get into it, I want to take a moment to thank the listeners. You know, 2025 was our strongest year yet. We more than doubled our audience, produced an impactful two-part special with the Permanent Record Podcast, and introduced over 250 new artists to your ears over the course of the year, averaging about four new artists every single week. So we've championed new music here. At the same time, we've also played just about every essential track you can think of from 1980 through 2025. We've covered a lot of ground this year, classic records, modern releases, and some truly outstanding remixes, a few of which you're gonna hear tonight. But because 2025 was too big to fit into a single broadcast, this year I'm gonna split this into special two parts. So tonight is part one, and next week we're gonna close it out with part two. This part one is going to focus on songs, remakes, and remixes from January 2025 to the end of July 2025. Alright, let's set this up with a great special three records that really set the tone for 2025. We're gonna start with Allison Goldfrapp and Find Xanadu, taken from what I think is one of the strongest albums released this year. It's a record that feels focused, modern, and completely comfortable in its own space. And a great reminder of how relevant her work continues to be. From there, we move into Andy Bell with Breaking Through the Interstellar. This was the first track released from his excellent solo album, Ten Crowns. And if you've been paying attention to what's coming out of Erasure's Camp, there's a lot to look forward to in 2026 with news pointing toward what's shaping up to be one of their biggest years yet, including a brand new studio album on the way. We're gonna close out the set with one of the standout legacy remixes of the year. Headshot boys reworked for 2025 It's Alright, remixed by Matt One. Matt had a huge year taking on some of the most interesting remixed work of 2025, and this one is a perfect example of how a classic track can be reimagined without losing its identity. So this is Strong Waiter again. We have some legacy artists, a modern perspective, and a clear sense of where the music stands today. We're gonna start with Embermine, the man that was new to the show this year. Their track A Thousand Miles was released in May and comes from the album Never Ending, which in my opinion is one of the strongest ElectroPop releases of 2025. And honestly, it was hard to pick up just one track from that record because there are just so many strong moments in it. Released in July 100 games. Three tracks with three different angles and a lot of forward momentum. Let's get into it right now with Embermine and a Thousand Miles.

Mayhem had quietly become something of an underground favorite as well. With other artists already beginning to cover material from this record. From there, we will become a remote! This is the title crack-related album and one of the strongest hand force favorites of the year. It's very much a thing cloud centered in 2025. And we'll call it out the set with Saint Lucia and falling asleep. In a way that connected with a wider audience. The new album, Fox and Morgan, is excellent, and you're gonna hear a lot more from Saint Lucia on this show in 2026 because the album just got released two weeks ago.
