Alright, it's time to get into the School of Synth and it's back in session, and today I wanted to shine a light on a band that doesn't always get the recognition they deserve, but absolutely should. Tonight we are talking about the band The Beloved, who began their journey in mid-80s London as a post-punk act, but everything changed when frontman John Marsh shifted the sound toward electronic music. What followed was a stunning evolution into synthop and house influenced game music with depth, heart and soul. Their 1989 single, Your Love Takes Me Higher, is a pure slice of late 80s club euphoria, pulsating with acid house energy and uplifting vibes, and then in 1993 they delivered the bomb. Sweet Harmony, a chill, emotional anthem of unity, peace, and connection that still resonates to this day. It's been covered by synthop artists around the world multiple times. So tonight we're gonna do two songs for these guys.
