SoberNotMature - Episode 199 (Let's Party Like It's 199)

This week we have...

Mike and Bill and no issues with the recording! We have had a great experience with Zencastr in general, but it was nice to be back to "normal."

Let's Party Like It's 199! Or just more of the same.

Mike started out with his reading and it was about the past. What was it like before we got sober? What did we gain with sobriety? The positives definitely outweigh the negatives and it was a good conversation.

We chatted about the break even point, getting results, Dick Van Dyke is 100, burning bridges, a hit and run, more Joe Rogan and Spotify Wrapped.

There was also an encounter with a Rottweiler. Scary, but no one got eaten.

Enjoy the episode.

00:00:01.66
Bill
All right, everyone. Welcome once again to another episode of Sober Not Mature. And Jesus Christ, you hear the...

00:00:09.26
Mike
Right. All

00:00:11.48
Bill
You know, it's funny. So um this week i was looking back at obviously episodes because we couldn't post our episode from last week, which we'll get to just briefly here in a second.

00:00:20.18
Mike
right. is

00:00:22.48
Bill
But... um I was, you know, obviously posting old episode clips, which was kind of fun. Not that hard. You know, I just kind of went back. I think the furthest I went back to was episode 40 something, 45, 48, something like that.

00:00:36.18
Bill
But the funny part is in the in the opening, um sometime in the last, well, 100 and almost 50 episodes, I've gotten more um boisterous with my opening, which you probably notice.

00:00:43.24
Mike
I didn't know. Yeah.

00:00:48.64
Bill
I don't until I...

00:00:49.24
Mike
i i i didn't know

00:00:53.30
Bill
I just thought maybe you were like, God damn, this dude's getting... he's He's kind of getting over the top here with this fucking opening. And then then I do this and my voice fucking cracks and whatever.

00:00:58.46
Mike
yeah

00:01:01.38
Bill
that I just sneezed when I sent the sent the link to Mike and he comes out and I'm like, I got to blow my nose. man

00:01:07.22
Mike
Yeah, we're fucking falling apart. How you kids doing today?

00:01:12.63
Bill
But i i have i have a I have a new heart almost. I mean, it's ah I've got it upgraded, a rebuilt.

00:01:17.05
Mike
Right? Right.

00:01:20.18
Bill
it's Well, is it a rebuilt? No, I just got my...

00:01:22.07
Mike
they They bored out the carburetor.

00:01:24.10
Bill
I was just going to say I got my cylinders bored out, which that doesn't happen.

00:01:24.28
Mike
Yeah. Yeah.

00:01:29.39
Bill
I think cars are fucking throwaway these days. But yeah, years ago, yeah you just, you know, clean the fucking shit out, put an old new carburetor in there, clean out the carburetor and throw the car back on the road.

00:01:31.45
Mike
yeah

00:01:38.03
Bill
And that's kind of what they did to me. i And I did.

00:01:39.74
Mike
Great.

00:01:40.35
Bill
i was referring to myself as an old Buick. I just didn't realize that my engine was about was about to fucking blow.

00:01:43.48
Mike
Hey. Yep. Mm-hmm.

00:01:45.91
Bill
But um so speaking of the episode thing, and just just I mean, if if anyone is listening to the episode, if you, well, of course, you're listening to the episode. Sorry. As you're as you're listening to the episode, if you just went to the latest one, we released two episodes today.

00:01:54.62
Mike
hey

00:02:01.01
Bill
Today's Saturday. It should be December 13th, if that was the day or the day that they were released. We released 198, and this is episode 199. So um I don't think, I mean, sometimes our episodes run together.

00:02:09.91
Mike
Yes.

00:02:13.29
Bill
we didn't have a cliffhanger anything like that.

00:02:15.56
Mike
Right.

00:02:15.89
Bill
You know, nobody shot J.R. in the last episode. You got to figure out who you know who that is. That's one for you kids. Go ahead. Who shot J.R.?

00:02:22.68
Mike
Right.

00:02:23.29
Bill
Look that shit up. But um yeah, i don't know. it's ah It's up to you. But so, you know, we've never done that before. um

00:02:28.69
Mike
right

00:02:29.53
Bill
Never released two episodes. And you know I thought about it. We kind of fucked up. I mean, we technically could have banked that episode and if we ever felt like getting lazy. We could have thrown it on that episode. But I suppose, I don't know, some of the stuff might have been.

00:02:39.70
Mike
Well, we would have baked this episode. and and Whatever.

00:02:42.07
Bill
and

00:02:45.14
Mike
Yeah.

00:02:45.27
Bill
Yeah, either either way. i' I'm actually glad. I'm glad that we that we you know did it this way. And on a couple of episodes.

00:02:49.94
Mike
We got to give it away to keep it. So, ah yeah, were we're not banking anything.

00:02:53.02
Bill
Yeah. Right. And that's the thing. I just I don't know. it It would be it would be weird because, you know, um whether it's another sober podcast or um anything else that I'm listening to um every once in a while, you know, um the people are like, so I'm not sure when this is going to be out.

00:03:07.61
Bill
They're like, oh, we're going to release this that the same day your movie is going to be released. You're like, oh OK.

00:03:11.86
Mike
Right.

00:03:12.16
Bill
So in it's three weeks away or whatever the case is.

00:03:13.85
Mike
it is

00:03:15.03
Bill
You know, we don't have to fucking figure that out. It's just like unless something happens like it did. um Last week, which is out of our control, i personally, I think, I don't know.

00:03:22.14
Mike
Yep.

00:03:24.57
Bill
It just what it seems like to me is that, I mean, clearly there was there's Zencaster and then they use this cloud fair or something like that for must be a server. And it wasn't just Zencaster.

00:03:33.79
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:03:35.59
Bill
There was a lot of big names across the country that got they got shut down also.

00:03:41.35
Mike
Huh.

00:03:41.46
Bill
But that Cloudflare was back up within, i don't know if it was that same night or the next night, but I think it just took Zencaster because um whether they had a bunch of people that were like in the position we were.

00:03:47.16
Mike
Mm hmm. Mm

00:03:52.49
Bill
So you know we recorded the episode, everything's done.

00:03:52.76
Mike
hmm.

00:03:55.49
Bill
And basically when when it's done like that, you hit preview, you put it there, and then it's like finalized.

00:03:55.84
Mike
Yeah.

00:04:02.17
Bill
We can't get, and that's the problem. maybe I don't know. It's a problem, but it is, but it isn't. Once we record, it's locked in there until we can finalize it. um We can get two individual tracks out, which I did.

00:04:12.05
Mike
Right.

00:04:16.02
Bill
But I would have had to find other software to take these Internet tracks, less quality of Mike over here and Bill over here and get them merged together.

00:04:23.61
Mike
Right. Mm hmm.

00:04:25.66
Bill
It could be done, you know, but I'm like, fuck me.

00:04:27.51
Mike
Well, yeah, anything can be done, but we're just not going to do it.

00:04:28.63
Bill
Yeah, I mean, it's I'm just saying it.

00:04:32.25
Mike
Sure.

00:04:32.57
Bill
Yeah, it's it's out there.

00:04:32.79
Mike
Yeah.

00:04:33.65
Bill
It's a regular thing. People do it on a semi-regular basis, I guess, using different software.

00:04:35.93
Mike
sure

00:04:37.53
Bill
So I don't know. But all said and done, the episode was available by Monday afternoon, I think. And I didn't even have a chance to listen to until Monday night or make sure everything sounded okay.

00:04:47.81
Bill
And then um we're just like, ah, fuck it. Let's just release both them at the same time.

00:04:52.09
Mike
yeah

00:04:52.12
Bill
So you're you're welcome, people. You get two, you get three hours of of us, which I don't know, maybe we should apologize.

00:04:55.45
Mike
Sure.

00:04:57.88
Mike
Yeah, right.

00:04:58.72
Bill
Yeah.

00:04:59.02
Mike
Uh-huh. Right.

00:05:01.72
Bill
But yeah I don't know. it is it It felt weird, though, because here's two things. it It feels like a long time since we recorded because I'm always far more involved with the episodes than, of course, I was this week.

00:05:11.54
Mike
ahha

00:05:12.37
Bill
you know I have to obviously put it together, which is not a big deal. I did the description, did all that stuff. But if nothing else, throughout the week, I'm pulling these episode clips, you know like every 15 minutes you know throughout the throughout the episode thing.

00:05:22.68
Mike
right

00:05:25.94
Bill
So it kind of keeps me in tune. Plus, I listen to it. You know, so I just, I have no idea what we talked about anymore.

00:05:31.32
Mike
Well, welcome to my world.

00:05:31.95
Bill
have no idea of anything. Right. Yeah. It's now I know what it's like to, to, to be you, you know?

00:05:38.36
Mike
Yes, you poor thing.

00:05:38.43
Bill
So I've been striving all these years just to be like you.

00:05:43.00
Mike
Careful what you wish for.

00:05:43.19
Bill
so said Exactly. So, um yeah, I guess so i got some things, though. I got to I ran across a a dog a couple of days ago. I've got a couple of articles. um So a little their article about a hiker in here.

00:05:58.67
Bill
Oh, we get to celebrate old Dick this week, too, so that you may know what I'm talking about, but we'll talk about that.

00:06:04.86
Mike
right yeah yeah right yeah right

00:06:04.98
Bill
And the um Spotify did their whole Spotify wrapped thing again. So here's the thing. And there's just, I pulled a couple of key things about our podcast. I looked at mine also, my personal one, which and it's it is what it is, you know?

00:06:19.14
Bill
But but there was a couple of, a you know, I think interesting things for the podcast. So just want to bring them up. I'm not going to go through everything. I don't know.

00:06:26.18
Mike
yeah

00:06:27.13
Bill
It's just, it's, I'm not, it's, it just is what it is. Plus on top of it, quite honestly, Spotify, nothing wrong with it, but it's probably only 40% of our listener base.

00:06:35.05
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:06:38.39
Mike
Right.

00:06:38.58
Bill
Um, you know, it's not, but they're saying that like this one piece and I, I don't know if that's one of the things I cut out of it, but saying that, you know, all platforms, so it might track certain things, but it doesn't track everything.

00:06:49.02
Bill
So it's only a sliver of what we're doing anyhow, but, um, some just interesting things that I pulled from there.

00:06:49.24
Mike
Yeah.

00:06:54.42
Bill
So, so anyhow.

00:06:55.08
Mike
Yeah. right. Well, and on that note, yeah, Chris's number one podcast was this one. Yeah.

00:07:01.24
Bill
You know, I just, I literally just saw that today. um And I saw that, yeah, i her number one artist, of course, Frank Sinatra, no surprise.

00:07:08.47
Mike
Right.

00:07:09.85
Bill
And then, yeah, I was, mine was Black Crows again this year because I just default into that. If I, if I, I don't know what to listen to. I just put that on is, you know, either background noise or what I'm driving because it just in general, I, I'd like, I fucking like the Black Crows a lot and I don't get sick of their music.

00:07:23.71
Mike
Sure.

00:07:25.41
Bill
And it's good driving music too, you know?

00:07:27.48
Mike
Right.

00:07:27.73
Bill
um so that was my number one again plus a whole mix of other stupid shit in there but yeah i mean my number one podcast was this um second was marin which is not going to be um you know next year of course but um but yeah i can't remember what else was in there but uh it's interesting too it tracked like what people who listen to us listen to so i' i've got that i knew i cut that part out of that a couple of other things but Yeah, i was like, okay, well, that's nice.

00:07:32.52
Mike
Hmm.

00:07:38.03
Mike
Yeah, right?

00:07:47.65
Mike
Hmm.

00:07:52.36
Bill
At least at least Chris is yeah chris is on you know one of the one of the numbers that is probably shown in there who who are ah you know who our number one listeners are.

00:07:54.99
Mike
Yeah.

00:07:58.17
Mike
yeah

00:08:00.48
Bill
So thank you, Chris.

00:08:00.92
Mike
Sure. yeah You know, I, yeah yes, exactly. And, you know, I don't have any of that. So, you know, cause I, I rarely listen.

00:08:11.05
Mike
I mean, you know, we are available on iHeartRadio, and that's usually if I'm going to pick anything up. That's what I put on because, you know, it's usually I'm out of the range of the radio stations I want to listen to, so I'll just fire that up.

00:08:25.16
Mike
But ah yeah I don't know. i don't I don't do a lot of digital listening, so there you go.

00:08:27.76
Bill
Right. Well, you know, it's funny. And I, the one thing that I, and I, I was going to make note of it, but I didn't with my, with my own personal one, I'm probably, well, no, I wouldn't be because I, I have music out in the background while I'm working.

00:08:43.52
Bill
So I've got probably seven, at least six, seven hours of music playing every single weekday. um You know, it's just in the background. It's background noise. I don't have it up loud so I can listen to it, but um you know, when I'm in the car, I,

00:08:51.41
Mike
Right. Sure.

00:08:55.34
Mike
Got it all cranked up when you're calling people, right?

00:08:56.28
Bill
hey And some fucking death metal comes on or, but, um, I mean, in the car, I'll listen to music rarely.

00:09:00.02
Mike
Yeah.

00:09:05.13
Bill
It's usually it's audio books and it's, you know, it's podcasts and it was an ungodly amount of minutes.

00:09:07.21
Mike
Yeah. Right.

00:09:10.21
Bill
I didn't, I didn't divide it out to see how many hours, but, um, I, I listen to podcasts a lot cause I don't, don't don't listen to audio books all the time. I'm not buying them all the time, but you know, I'm just listening to podcasts.

00:09:21.00
Bill
It's just taking any fucking information, you know? Yeah.

00:09:22.94
Mike
Right. Right.

00:09:23.74
Bill
age i you know it's like literally what i remember when and i'm sure it was grandpa jay at the time and i think uh my dad even probably he would listen to music but you know they they were always listened to you know whether it was talk radio or that sort of thing they were listening to this news type of radio and i'm like why the fuck you listen to this man you know well guess what we're here

00:09:38.03
Mike
Right.

00:09:40.76
Mike
is is he Right. Well, yeah, and I've been listening to talk radio since I was 18 because I'm a fucking weirdo.

00:09:52.32
Mike
So there you go.

00:09:53.66
Bill
Yeah, you know what, and i don't I don't necessarily consider it weird because the, you know, the, and I say it all the time, but I mean, the the base of knowledge that you have, I'm sure um a good portion of that or some portion of that came from listening to all that stuff, you know?

00:10:02.71
Mike
Hmm.

00:10:05.56
Mike
Sure. Yeah, oh absolutely.

00:10:07.57
Bill
Yeah.

00:10:08.45
Mike
you know Right, and you know I don't want to hear fucking more than a feeling again. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

00:10:17.53
Bill
Yeah, you know, it's that's that's the thing that's funny too because the the list of songs that were some of my top songs, they're like these fucking shitty ass 80s songs that I'm like, I guess they do.

00:10:23.86
Mike
anything

00:10:28.17
Bill
Again, it's background music, so I'll get something in my head that I want to listen to. Maybe I'll even throw on, you know, I'll throw on something from the Beatles. I'll throw on something from, I don't know, it could be Eagles or Elton John or something like that.

00:10:39.70
Bill
And then it it morphs into all these other things. And then I end up getting, it it feeds me the same shit all the time. So it's telling me I'm playing like these, these top five songs.

00:10:45.48
Mike
Right.

00:10:48.58
Bill
I'm like, those are favorite songs of mine. But apparently I played them the most because they they end up in these in this fucking rotation, you know, like you said, you know, more than a feeling, you know, yeah, listen to whether it's classic rock or I don't know, I i try to mix it up every once in a while to add to that, you know, to that mix, but it doesn't always help.

00:10:55.93
Mike
now

00:11:07.56
Bill
So. But anyhow, so um hopefully something that here's a segue for you, everyone.

00:11:12.50
Mike
all right

00:11:12.82
Bill
um Hopefully something that will help. Do you have a reading, Mike?

00:11:16.12
Mike
and that was a little clunky but yeah uh yes i do have a reading um all right let me see here uh this is from keep it simple and in that theme this is today's keep it simple read it this morning and went yeah that's all right i think i'll do that one so here it is uh december 12th

00:11:16.33
Bill
Yeah, I know. I know.

00:11:34.04
Bill
Nice.

00:11:38.85
Bill
Here it is, son.

00:11:43.16
Mike
god gave us ah God gave us memory that we might have roses in December. James M. Barry. think he wrote Peter Pan, if I'm not incorrect.

00:11:56.44
Mike
ah Let's see. ah Do we remember what it was like to not have sobriety? Remember the shame? Remember the loneliness? Remember lying and wishing you could stop?

00:12:09.18
Mike
Remember the powerlessness? Remember. Do you remember also how it felt when you began to believe that you had an illness? Your shame was lifted.

00:12:19.83
Mike
Remember what it was what it was like to look around in your meeting and know that you belonged. Your loneliness was lifted. Remember when your family started to trust you again. Your dishonesty has been lifted.

00:12:35.29
Mike
Sobriety gives us many roses. Our memory will help us keep them fresh. Prayer for the day. Higher power. Never let me forget what it was like.

00:12:46.71
Mike
Why? Because I'm only one drink or pill away from losing you. Action for the day. Those pesky actions. I'll find a friend I trust. I'll tell that person what my life was like before sobriety. I will also talk about how I got sober.

00:13:03.70
Mike
Hey, guess what? We don't have to do that one. We'll just go back and listen to old episodes.

00:13:09.88
Bill
yes I was going to say, if everyone wants to hear about that, um episode number one, I tell my story in a very brief, brief mode, I guess, probably 20, 30 minutes, whatever it was. And then episode three is is Mike's episode.

00:13:23.29
Bill
A lot of detail and surprisingly enough, and I've said this before, but knowing you as long as I had up to that point, that was 12 plus years, there was things in there I'm like, fucking can really?

00:13:31.18
Mike
Right. Right.

00:13:33.71
Bill
Yeah.

00:13:34.10
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:13:35.26
Bill
you know Because you you and I lead pretty much the same. it's not We don't do a whole long thing.

00:13:40.76
Mike
right

00:13:41.38
Bill
But I mean you i was really glad that you that you did that.

00:13:41.75
Mike
this is

00:13:44.42
Bill
You got into a lot of a lot more detail maybe than you normally would in a podium.

00:13:49.08
Mike
Right.

00:13:49.64
Bill
but And i'm I'm glad you did.

00:13:49.99
Mike
Sure.

00:13:51.68
Bill
But on top of that, you know the shit over the last i mean this is episode For episodes, We've told not only old stories, but new stories and repeated the stories.

00:13:56.92
Mike
Yes, it is.

00:14:03.01
Mike
Sure.

00:14:04.44
Bill
So, um you know what I suggest, listener?

00:14:05.29
Mike
All 199 of them.

00:14:08.57
Bill
Go back and listen to all the episodes.

00:14:10.46
Mike
sure all one hundred and ninety nine of them

00:14:14.81
Bill
Right. And you know what? I mean, with the with the whole Google thing out there, if you typed in, for instance, because we've talked about the absolutes, for instance, if you typed in sober, not mature absolutes, you're going to find more than likely the episode that we talked about them in because it was one that we dedicated to that and talk more about them.

00:14:22.39
Mike
Sure.

00:14:30.55
Mike
Right.

00:14:31.09
Bill
You know, so search our name. We probably whatever it is, we probably fucking talked about it. Yeah.

00:14:36.02
Mike
Right.

00:14:38.74
Bill
We haven't talked about everything, but we've talked about a lot of goddamn things.

00:14:41.30
Mike
Yeah, we have.

00:14:42.74
Bill
lot of fucking words. so Oh, just real quick as a side note, and I almost forgot. It is Katie's birthday today.

00:14:48.70
Mike
Yes, I know.

00:14:49.62
Bill
Yeah, so I'm just telling everyone everyone else. ah my My son's girlfriend, Katie, who we've talked about plenty of times, and she was also on an episode.

00:14:55.29
Mike
hu

00:14:56.90
Bill
Please go back and look when it was.

00:14:57.11
Mike
She was.

00:14:59.22
Bill
I know when it was. it was September of 2023 because I know where where I was when when we recorded it.

00:15:06.01
Mike
Okay.

00:15:06.06
Bill
Um, but, um, I was actually in Oklahoma city that first trip I took when I went to Memphis and blah, blah, blah.

00:15:10.54
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:15:11.84
Bill
But, um, so whatever, it was a couple of years ago, but, uh, but yeah, so she's, uh, she's the ripe young age of 25.

00:15:18.52
Mike
Wow.

00:15:20.12
Bill
I you know fucking Derek's 25. Obviously she, you know, they're just fucking kids of course, but I don't know.

00:15:24.60
Mike
Yes, but not so much. Insurance rates go down.

00:15:26.97
Bill
Right.

00:15:28.08
Mike
They can rent cars, all kinds of cool stuff now.

00:15:31.22
Bill
Yeah, I know. Yeah.

00:15:31.92
Mike
They're like, yeah, adults and shit.

00:15:32.15
Bill
When, uh, I know after, after Derek said, cause mean, he went out, he had to go off on his own, on his own car insurance when they moved in together.

00:15:38.36
Mike
Right? Mm-hmm.

00:15:40.88
Bill
And then said, ah, don't worry. I said, his rates weren't terrible, but I'm like, you'll get a break, you know, 25. And he said that they, they went ahead like a month or so, maybe their renewal, his birthday's in October.

00:15:45.87
Mike
Yep.

00:15:51.64
Bill
I think their renewal was August or early September. um And they lowered the rates then, you know, so they must've done it in anticipation.

00:15:58.63
Mike
Yeah.

00:16:00.21
Bill
I'm like, well, that's kind of cool. So yeah.

00:16:01.56
Mike
Yeah.

00:16:01.85
Bill
But yeah, he's gotten, he got his little break.

00:16:02.36
Mike
Nice.

00:16:03.93
Bill
So, but anyhow, so back to, back to some sobriety shit. Fuck these little kids out there anymore.

00:16:07.04
Mike
Right.

00:16:08.73
Bill
um So the, the funny part was, I mean, to begin with, you know, what was it like? I mean, i think the opening line says something along the lines of, you know, what was it like um not having sobriety, you know?

00:16:20.86
Mike
right

00:16:20.96
Bill
And, to begin with it, as I, and I, when I read that this morning, I thought the same thing. I'm like, I'm like, God damn, that's, I don't know why it, it kind of hit me a little bit differently.

00:16:31.18
Bill
And then this morning and also now I'm like, yeah, what was it like? You know? I mean, I know what it was like, but you know, so, okay.

00:16:38.07
Mike
Right.

00:16:40.04
Bill
So the, the day before, you know, and I know what was going on in my life, but, um, I went into detox on it on a Saturday. So what was my bait day like on Friday? I don't know, you know, you know, Friday, um, April,

00:16:50.58
Mike
Right. Probably the same as it was Thursday and the same as Wednesday, Tuesday. and Right. i know that's how it was for me.

00:16:57.94
Bill
yeah right. And that's probably why I can't remember it yeah anything.

00:17:01.80
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:17:02.06
Bill
I know I, I didn't, I know I didn't go to work.

00:17:02.18
Mike
Right.

00:17:03.78
Bill
i was supposed to go to work that Saturday and I know I didn't, and I know I didn't go to work on, I'm sure I had to work on Friday and I don't think I went, um, you know, but, um, but yeah, i mean, God, I, I don't know.

00:17:05.08
Mike
Mm-hmm. Yeah.

00:17:09.46
Mike
right m

00:17:14.30
Bill
You know, it said we don't want to forget because that that's towards the end. Obviously, never, never forget. But um I don't know. Is there anything like right off the. Can you do you remember anything those those days prior?

00:17:24.98
Bill
I mean, I know they all ran together, but ah I don't know anything. Right.

00:17:29.02
Mike
Just, I mean, you know, the, the, the go-to stuff, you know, ah like the reading said, the powerlessness, um, you know, yeah, the, the, the enslavement.

00:17:35.80
Bill
Right.

00:17:39.77
Mike
Absolutely. I, I do remember that, you know, having to get a drink, you know, having to, you know waking up in the morning, coming to in the morning, um, you know, and, and that first thought of where's my next one, you know, when, when can I get it? When, what do I have to do to get it? When can I get to it? um Yeah, yeah. Those were my first thoughts in the morning every fucking day because I didn't have a choice.

00:18:06.39
Mike
um Well, no, I remember that. um Absolutely. You know, I've been certainly not constantly thinking about it anymore, thankfully. Um, but you know, I, I definitely pause occasionally and, and remember that shit and how fucked up it was and how awful a life it was, you know?

00:18:28.53
Mike
Um, and, and, you know, sometimes, uh, you know, remembering, remembering that first one, you know, would when you do finally get to it and that, that, that feeling of ease and comfort that the big book talks about, you know, I remember that too.

00:18:42.98
Bill
Right.

00:18:44.04
Mike
And, and, and,

00:18:47.23
Mike
that's the enslavement too. I, and yes, it's, it's wonderful, but I have to actually look at it the way it really was. And, you know, okay. So the, the five minutes before that I was a fucking wreck, man, shaking apart and, you know, and twitching and dying and, oh my God, I fucking want it so bad. And ah yeah yeah, that's why that first one felt so fucking good. Cause I felt so shitty before it.

00:19:12.79
Mike
Um, Yeah, all of it. You know, I don't want to forget any of that. I want to, and I want to remember this morning, waking up my alarm, going off, going, eh, and then, you know, and then turning it off and then getting up and, and, and not being sick and not being, you know, thinking about other things, thinking about, you know, well, you know, my first thoughts that I've trained myself to have today is, you know, please, it is, it's my first thought, you know, um, you know, dad give me the strength I need to do what I got to do.

00:19:23.58
Bill
hey

00:19:45.82
Mike
So I don't ever have to fucking feel that way again.

00:19:49.18
Bill
Right.

00:19:49.62
Mike
Yeah. You know, so, yeah, you know, as I think about it, but I think, I think I think about it in, in a realistic way today, um, which is good.

00:19:57.77
Bill
Yeah.

00:20:01.50
Mike
You know,

00:20:02.90
Bill
Well, and I think I think youre that it's easy to say, and I know we don't say it all the time, but it's a you think about it in a healthy way. You know, I mean, it's a it's it's the way it's the way to, you know, everything that that we're taught, you know, it's in the book, you know, we don't want to regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it, you know.

00:20:09.14
Mike
yeah. Right.

00:20:18.84
Mike
Mm

00:20:19.15
Bill
And, and I'm, I'm fully convinced that if I, if I can't feel or remember that, and like you just said, that pain, that discomfort, I wrote down shame, loneliness, and dishonesty.

00:20:27.54
Mike
hmm. Mm hmm.

00:20:30.02
Bill
And, you know, those things were lifted when we got, when we got sober and, you know, we'll continue to be lifted as long as we stay sober.

00:20:30.04
Mike
Right.

00:20:33.46
Mike
Yep.

00:20:36.70
Bill
But, you know, like you said, to, you know, get into that first one. And I, I've said it before, i I've never ran out of, I've never, I never ran out of booze. I always had something to drink there.

00:20:44.60
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:20:46.47
Bill
And, you know, for the the last however long, whether it was five days or five months, I don't remember that I used to have to take, you know, I try to drink a beer that I drank two shots of whiskey. And I had to, I had to do that to get my contacts in.

00:20:59.29
Mike
Right.

00:20:59.74
Bill
And in two things with that, the the most important one is that, wow, like you said, the the slave and, you know, ah enslaved, you know, to that sort of thing. But on top of that, not really thinking that that's a fucking problem, you know?

00:21:12.22
Mike
Right.

00:21:13.21
Bill
and And I swear to God, I swear, swear, swear on anything that I could swear on that I never looked at that. and I'm like, shit, man, i I should, this is a fucking problem.

00:21:23.72
Bill
So what in...

00:21:23.86
Mike
Right.

00:21:26.62
Mike
Right.

00:21:27.54
Bill
What? I mean, I want to scream this out right now and say, what in the what in the world makes us do that? You know, makes our mind literally it's like I my mind turned around and didn't look at me while I was doing that. You know, it's like, well, if I don't see it, then it's not happening. And I'm sitting right there and I was in my bathroom.

00:21:48.15
Bill
And, you know, I'm trying to do this and shake it and go out and fucking shouts. Oh, Jesus Christ. It's like what shuts down your your brain like that to to allow you to do that, not think that this is a fucking problem, you know?

00:22:00.59
Mike
Yeah, well, it's the disease lying to us.

00:22:00.76
Bill
um I know. I know. It's just it's still that the fact that it's baffling to me, I think it's still it.

00:22:07.03
Mike
m

00:22:08.18
Bill
It's still.

00:22:08.30
Mike
Cunning and baffling and powerful.

00:22:09.94
Bill
I know. Yeah. And it I mean, to me, I think that's a good thing. I don't want to, I don't ever want to look at that and be like, Oh yeah, if I understand it completely I did. I'm like, I don't, I don't need to understand it.

00:22:20.25
Bill
I want to, I want it to be completely fucked up and in unfathomable, fathomable.

00:22:24.82
Mike
Yes, right, right.

00:22:26.49
Bill
Yes.

00:22:27.10
Mike
i do not want to fathom it.

00:22:29.07
Bill
I do not want to, that's a better way to put it. I do not want to fathom that because I can say that unfathomable, I can't say.

00:22:33.30
Mike
Right. Right. Yeah. Yeah.

00:22:38.04
Bill
Waskily wabbit.

00:22:39.48
Mike
right

00:22:40.38
Bill
But, you know, the the other thing too is I is i remember, um you know, being obviously tired and hungover and all those sort of things and then getting that first initial buzz on and you you feel good, but you feel kind of you're just fucking cloudy, you know?

00:22:54.48
Bill
And, and I'm like, Jesus Christ, you know, I mean, part of it, it's like, it feels good, but then it's weird, you know, but you're chasing that initial, that initial thing.

00:22:54.58
Mike
yeah

00:23:03.32
Bill
And that's just all, all kinds of fucked up, you know?

00:23:03.86
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.

00:23:06.39
Bill
So this morning when I, when I woke up, not all kinds of fucked up, but I was tired and I've said to myself, I'm like, I'm like, I know for a fact, there's no way I slept good last night.

00:23:10.38
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:23:15.71
Bill
Cause I felt like I was tossing, turning, whatever. And and i I told you, and I think I mentioned on here, I bought a smartwatch.

00:23:18.09
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:23:22.81
Bill
It's a basic one. But the the thing that I like about it most is that and I've never, ever, ever had anything that tracks my sleep.

00:23:24.15
Mike
Right.

00:23:30.13
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:23:30.58
Bill
I was just under the impression that I slept like fucking crap all the time, you know, because i maybe I get up, got to take a piss and do whatever, and I feel like I roll over a lot.

00:23:33.57
Mike
Hmm. Hmm.

00:23:38.54
Bill
But all in all, I'm falling asleep within most nights, probably 90% of the time, I'm falling asleep within five minutes of when I when i go to bed. Um, I might wake up, you know, two, three times where you get these little blips in it, but it's like a total of maybe nine minutes, you know, maybe that's my average in in a night and I'm getting a good solid, you know, six and a half, six 45, six 15, right in that range.

00:23:57.71
Mike
aha

00:24:04.36
Bill
So I'm, I'm getting a decent amount sleep for the most part.

00:24:04.81
Mike
Yeah.

00:24:06.72
Bill
But this morning, and I do my first set of my readings, and as I start to do my the first set of prayers, it's kind of like part of my routine.

00:24:06.99
Mike
Right?

00:24:14.22
Bill
now I looked at it, and it was telling me I so i was telling me and i was i was up as of 2 a.m. m this morning, which I wasn't. um

00:24:21.06
Mike
Mm.

00:24:21.88
Bill
But what I was thinking, and I looked this up, I'm like, what could make that happen? you know I mean, did it do i do not did I have the watch tightened up? Whatever. Whatever. So what they said was, is that, um, cause the watch, if you move your wrist, I mean, you know, obviously that the, the, the, uh, face comes on. Um, and then, you know, that recognize that realizes you're awake. But if you're, if you're sitting there and, you know, still for a while, then it goes into sleep mode and that's how it knows you're sleeping. Right.

00:24:49.02
Mike
Okay.

00:24:49.37
Bill
Makes sense.

00:24:49.38
Mike
Yeah.

00:24:50.21
Bill
You know, because it's um obviously there's sensors on the back and it's whatever it is, it's all your heartbeat and your heart rate and the whole bit. It measures all that shit. Right.

00:24:57.21
Mike
It's not reading your mind.

00:24:59.10
Bill
Who knows? Maybe it is.

00:25:01.51
Mike
right.

00:25:01.56
Bill
Yes.

00:25:02.74
Mike
citizens

00:25:03.68
Bill
oh say Maybe it's taking, you know, taking over my life. Who fucking knows?

00:25:07.26
Mike
yeah right

00:25:07.84
Bill
But, um, so, so what, basically what they were saying is that what can happen if you're, if you're restless as you're moving and if you're rolling over every time your arm moves, your face is, you know, the watch face is opening up.

00:25:20.52
Bill
So it's, it's recognizing it as if you're awake. Okay. Okay.

00:25:23.60
Mike
Yeah.

00:25:24.15
Bill
So, but the point is, is that my, I probably, um, decent up until about 2am and then from 2am until I get up at five, um, I had fucked up sleep like I thought, you know, so, so, I mean, I, again, it tracked it right, but it didn't track anything because it thought I was awake.

00:25:24.18
Mike
Okay.

00:25:41.14
Bill
Yeah. But that's how restless I was. I was fucking awake, you know, or I thought it was.

00:25:44.41
Mike
right.

00:25:45.82
Bill
But the the funny part is, is as we were talking about all this stuff, I thought about this morning because I'm like, Jesus Christ, I'm like, today's going to be a long day because I'm going to be tired, which I wasn't. I was old tired as I sat down to do this because that's like the first time I sort of relaxed for the day.

00:25:58.85
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:25:59.58
Bill
um But I'm like, tomorrow, tomorrow's going to be a long fucking day because I don't have to, but I get up early and I leave early so I can get back to Indiana and blah, blah, blah. But I wasn't even thinking about the fact that, well, I'm not hungover though, which I do a lot.

00:26:13.56
Mike
Yeah.

00:26:14.94
Bill
If I'm tired, I do that quite a bit.

00:26:15.28
Mike
Mm-hmm. Sure.

00:26:19.18
Bill
I'm thankful and grateful that, okay, you know I used to do this when I was either fucked up, about to be fucked up, getting myself fucked up, you know whatever the case was.

00:26:21.46
Mike
Right.

00:26:25.26
Mike
Yeah.

00:26:29.27
Bill
I can deal with tired, you know?

00:26:30.58
Mike
Yeah, right. i Yeah, I do that too. Right. if Whatever. i'm i'm fucking dragging a little ass. It's like, you know, hey, yeah remember? Remember when you'd fucking do this like sick as hell?

00:26:41.82
Mike
Yeah.

00:26:42.28
Bill
Right.

00:26:44.54
Bill
Right.

00:26:44.89
Mike
Yeah.

00:26:45.00
Bill
Yeah.

00:26:45.17
Mike
this This is not that bad. Just, you know, do what you got to fucking do, asshole.

00:26:49.37
Bill
Right. Yeah. And know Nine times out of 10 when I'm tired and I, I don't have, I have, it's, it's rare that I have a night like this where I have restless night's sleep. And this is, I bought, I bought this watch figure.

00:27:00.97
Bill
I had the, the first procedure, whatever that was, that was end of October. So 26th, I think I, I think I had the watch delivered cause I ordered it.

00:27:05.05
Mike
Right.

00:27:08.85
Bill
um I think while I was still in the hospital. um

00:27:11.10
Mike
Right. You got nothing else to do. You lay in there.

00:27:13.18
Bill
Well, and, and I'm like, I'm like, i want, I

00:27:14.66
Mike
Let's buy some shit.

00:27:16.22
Bill
Well, and here's the thing, though, is that I bought i bought a little blood pressure thing, which was only 20 bucks, so I could take my own blood pressure.

00:27:16.62
Mike
Mm hmm. Sure.

00:27:23.84
Bill
So I'm like, that's kind of important, right? you know I mean, for for what I went through, then I'm like, I think it'd be a good idea for me to have a smartwatch, at least to be able to, because because they had a heart rate, but up my phone for my steps and whatever.

00:27:26.25
Mike
Sure.

00:27:36.00
Bill
But I'm like, these things together, the more I can do to know how my body is reacting on this shit, but the better I am.

00:27:41.90
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:27:42.30
Bill
You know, so, um, but you figure, so since end of October, even let's say, yeah, it had to be end of October, you know, it's been a month and a a month and a half almost, you know, and and I've had one restless night's sleep, you know, which is about normal for me.

00:27:54.81
Mike
Right.

00:27:56.39
Bill
Maybe every couple of months I'll have one for no goddamn reason.

00:27:58.27
Mike
Yeah.

00:27:58.95
Bill
None.

00:27:59.33
Mike
Sure.

00:27:59.64
Bill
You know, I, I wasn't even really like, i mean, work is work, but I wasn't, it wasn't on my mind.

00:27:59.99
Mike
Yeah.

00:28:03.92
Bill
it wasn't fucking in my head about it.

00:28:05.48
Mike
Yeah. Uh-huh.

00:28:06.20
Bill
Um, But to nine times out of 10 when I'm tired, it's because I get up early to go someplace I want to fucking go and it's I'm to have fun. you know, so.

00:28:13.59
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

00:28:16.34
Bill
But um but yeah, so I mean, so in in this talking about obviously they'll never forget that we were talking about. But um so when it talks about the shame, loneliness and dishonesty, do you.

00:28:21.62
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:28:26.67
Bill
And we may have talked about this before, but specifically the shame part, because that seems to be that's one of the fucking huge buzzwords and, you know, around the recovery community now is, you know, the shame and trauma.

00:28:37.87
Bill
ble ble um

00:28:39.13
Mike
is a

00:28:40.73
Bill
Did you ever look at at your situation and like openly think that, man, I'm i'm ashamed or I have shame or anything like that or no?

00:28:49.66
Mike
Um, but no, I mean, we've talked, well, no, cause we've talked about it plenty of times. I mean, right. All that, all that worthless quote unquote, there's my first air quotes of the show. Uh, the worthlessness of our lives has worth now because we use it to help other drunks. So, yeah. So, no, it takes the shame away. You know, yeah, if we want to sit and stew in it and don't do anything about it, yeah, yeah we're fucked. um that's That's kind of part and parcel of what this is all about. You don't do anything with it, yeah, you're fucked. um

00:29:24.22
Mike
But we don't. We take it and we make it worth something to someone else. And therefore, but there's no shame. You know, so, yeah.

00:29:32.09
Bill
right

00:29:33.00
Mike
I mean, you know, probably... Probably early, early sobriety, you know, before we knew what the fuck to do with it. Yeah, it was there. um But we learned fairly quickly.

00:29:44.52
Mike
Thankfully, we had people around us who went, oh, man, it's it's okay. You know, first of all, well, like I talked about the reading, you know, we we're in the room, we look around and we realize we're not alone anymore.

00:29:54.91
Mike
We belong, you know.

00:29:55.12
Bill
Right.

00:29:56.83
Mike
Yeah, we're we're sitting in a room with, you know, 30, 50, 100 other guys and women and whatever. And everybody's done the same fucked up shit, you know.

00:30:06.68
Bill
Yeah.

00:30:06.90
Mike
So it's yeah.

00:30:07.90
Bill
yeah

00:30:09.38
Mike
You know, we're not alone. We're not unique. We're not special. We're not different. um So, yeah, what's there to be ashamed of? you know, yes, we did bad things, but we take those bad things and we walk up to a new guy and go, Hey, we did it too.

00:30:24.32
Mike
It's okay. You know, and then they can, you know, then they lose their shame over it. And then they walk up to another new guy and go, Hey, it's okay. We, I did it too.

00:30:35.51
Bill
And, but even, even at the, and I agree with you one completely and 100% with all, you know, with that, with having all of these things, having worth and all, like we talk about, but in, in the moment prior to sobriety, did you ever feel shame at that time or no?

00:30:41.02
Mike
Right.

00:30:46.74
Mike
Hmm.

00:30:49.21
Mike
Um, yeah, I'm sure.

00:30:49.24
Bill
Do you think?

00:30:50.89
Mike
yeah You know, um, yeah, I know I did.

00:30:51.45
Bill
Okay.

00:30:53.83
Mike
um yeah. I'm going to take a few more drinks and, and Hey, it went away.

00:30:58.58
Bill
Yeah, and that's and that's the thing. i mean, I don't i don't know.

00:31:01.18
Mike
you know, but then I had more shit to be ashamed of and I had to take more drinks to him.

00:31:01.34
Bill
i

00:31:05.26
Mike
hey wouldn him Yeah. Lovely, lovely way to live.

00:31:09.34
Bill
You know what? My guess is that the – because I don't remember. I can't actively remember going, oh, yeah, I remember these times and this time when there was shame. I'm 100% positive that I was – I felt shame when I got caught.

00:31:24.41
Mike
oh Oh, yeah.

00:31:27.06
Bill
i think that's when I felt the shame.

00:31:28.99
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:31:30.11
Bill
It's like, oh, fuck. God damn it.

00:31:32.15
Mike
Yeah, right.

00:31:33.04
Bill
It was a shame that I got caught.

00:31:33.62
Mike
Well, yeah, mixed.

00:31:34.96
Bill
Yeah.

00:31:34.98
Mike
Yeah, and mixed with anger that why you calling me on my shit?

00:31:39.00
Bill
Right, right. yeah

00:31:40.02
Mike
How dare you?

00:31:43.00
Bill
yeah What? I wasn't drinking from the from those bottles. You must be wrong.

00:31:48.54
Mike
Right.

00:31:48.66
Bill
The sky is not blue. It's purple.

00:31:51.95
Mike
That's right.

00:31:52.60
Bill
You dumb-dumb.

00:31:55.77
Bill
ah Look over here. Nothing to happen over here.

00:31:58.33
Mike
Right.

00:31:58.41
Bill
i mean i mean, fuck, if I could look...

00:31:59.86
Mike
Pay no attention to the man behind the bar.

00:32:02.36
Bill
yeah pay Pay no attention to the man sitting in front of the mirror, shaking, trying to put his contacts in, and then he takes five shots of fucking whiskey.

00:32:07.48
Mike
Right. Right.

00:32:11.03
Bill
Pay no attention to that guy.

00:32:11.13
Mike
mrs

00:32:13.14
Bill
Jesus Christ. yeah But, yeah, I agree with you, and I should have worded that differently about the shame because that's 100%.

00:32:16.02
Mike
Right.

00:32:23.96
Bill
Yeah, I mean, it's and I don't. i have and you know i I think I was listening. It had to have been a podcast I was listening to – Fuck, it could have even been that Danny Trejo book that they were they were talking about.

00:32:35.10
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:32:36.62
Bill
It was recent that they were talking about you know that, again, it takes time to you know kind of get comfortable and and start laughing and and all those sort of things. I think I brought that up last episode.

00:32:45.64
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:32:46.98
Bill
You know, whatever that whatever the case is that, you know, when, you know, there's there's a moment when all these things, when we can tell these stories and that, you know, that, yeah, whatever the um the embarrassment, the shame, the, like you said, I think the most important part is ah the fact that we're in a room full of people that did the same goddamn thing.

00:32:47.06
Mike
Yeah.

00:32:57.98
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:33:03.04
Mike
Yeah.

00:33:04.36
Bill
And we know they did, you know, some little bit worse, some little bit less, but nobody's go to look at you and be like, what the fuck did you do?

00:33:04.90
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right.

00:33:08.47
Mike
Yeah.

00:33:11.16
Mike
Yeah, right. Mm-hmm.

00:33:13.55
Bill
or wait, you didn't, you didn't even get to this point or holy fuck you did that. What the fuck?

00:33:18.87
Mike
Yeah.

00:33:19.38
Bill
You know, I've said that to you before, but only because it cracks me up and I've never heard it before.

00:33:19.81
Mike
Yeah.

00:33:23.48
Mike
Right.

00:33:24.67
Bill
I'm like, Jesus, tell me more.

00:33:24.71
Mike
Right.

00:33:28.15
Bill
But yeah, I don't know. It just, it was a good reading though. And was funny when I, when I read that action part, you know, tell a friend about how your stuff was.

00:33:36.28
Mike
Yeah.

00:33:36.43
Bill
I'm like, ah, we, I'm like, yeah, we get, we already, we, we know, we already know.

00:33:39.89
Mike
We've done that. Uh-huh.

00:33:40.76
Bill
we We've done that a couple of times. So so um anything else in the reading? Anything else that kind of jumped out at you? were It's all good.

00:33:47.84
Mike
Nah, nah, I think we've covered it.

00:33:50.52
Bill
Okay.

00:33:50.58
Mike
And then some.

00:33:54.11
Bill
Which is pretty fucking normal. Yeah. Episode 199, same as episode 40, same as episode 76.

00:33:58.33
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:33:58.51
Bill
132. Yeah, we covered it. Exactly.

00:34:02.17
Mike
aha

00:34:05.50
Bill
ah

00:34:05.62
Mike
Second verse, same as the first.

00:34:07.26
Bill
exactly All right. So um this this came across my my my little brain, I think today or or yesterday.

00:34:15.71
Mike
Hmm.

00:34:16.63
Bill
um So when do you think or what do you think your break-even point is? And what I mean by that is how long do you need to be sober before it's longer than you were drinking?

00:34:27.69
Mike
Hmm. Hmm.

00:34:28.72
Bill
Yeah.

00:34:31.13
Mike
I don't think that's going to happen.

00:34:33.40
Bill
Well, and I guess let me let me ask you a first question on that.

00:34:36.95
Mike
yeah

00:34:37.28
Bill
So so the first time I ever I ever had a drink of alcohol, I know I know for a fact that I remember it, which is weird. I was like three. And by by either my Uncle Mike or my dad or both or Uncle John, even, you know, we're all they gave gave me sip of beer or they're like, hey, you want to drink a water?

00:34:49.69
Mike
e

00:34:53.51
Bill
Try this. And those was fucking vodka. And I remember that as a goddamn three-year-old.

00:34:55.19
Mike
Sure. Right.

00:34:57.48
Bill
And it was because it was in our house in Parma. We had just moved in, all that stuff. but So I didn't start actively drinking at three.

00:35:05.02
Mike
Right.

00:35:05.11
Bill
um I drank enough to throw up when I was 14, but didn't actively drink. So I really didn't start drinking until I was probably... On a regular basis, like all every weekend, like until I was like 17.

00:35:16.82
Mike
Okay.

00:35:16.89
Bill
um But so, I mean, I think I could safely figure from that point forward. But are you saying that it was earlier than that, that you were like actively drinking all the time or you don't know?

00:35:26.17
Mike
I mean, well, um, um, all the time, but probably a couple of years younger than you, around 15 or so. I mean, every chance I fucking got, um yeah, you know, yeah.

00:35:35.51
Bill
yeah Right, right.

00:35:38.23
Mike
Um, 14, every chance I got, um you know, I, I, I mean, I pretty sure I talked about it my story. I mean, the first time I got drunk on my own, I was nine. um yeah, yeah.

00:35:48.31
Bill
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:35:49.59
Mike
I was at my mom's wedding. um, You know, and, and yeah, my first drink, um, I mean, you know, again, it was very common to rub whiskey on the gums of teething babies.

00:36:02.45
Mike
That was what we did. um so, you know, yeah, that was you know my first drink.

00:36:04.36
Bill
Right.

00:36:07.69
Mike
Um, uh, you know my mom's doctor encouraged her to drink a couple of beers a day while she was nursing me. Cause it was, you know, God, gotta love the sixties, huh?

00:36:14.52
Bill
Right.

00:36:17.40
Bill
Right Right

00:36:17.64
Mike
Uh, drink a couple of beers every day. It's good for the baby. ah so yeah, i I had no chance, um, yeah, so I mean, okay, so figure, let's just 14, right, 14 to 42, what the fuck is that, I'm not doing that math, um, and okay, yeah, so I, yeah, there you go, yeah,

00:36:34.68
Bill
Right Well I mean it's 28 years You know because mean yeah 14 to 44 would be 30 so Yeah so 20 28 years

00:36:45.34
Bill
so twenty twenty eight years

00:36:46.68
Mike
Okay. all right. So there you go. There's your answer. 28 years. I got to be sober. So what is that? We're 15 is going to be 16. So another,

00:36:57.27
Mike
um yeah, hell I might make it.

00:37:00.86
Bill
Well, and you know, I thought about the same thing because I figured, you know, 17 you know, 17 to 41, you know, I mean, in, you know, the the same thing.

00:37:07.59
Mike
Right.

00:37:10.92
Bill
I mean, you know, you figure that that's 24 years, um you know, kind of the kind of the same the same deal, you know.

00:37:14.37
Mike
Right.

00:37:17.40
Bill
So I would have to be 41 to 65, 66. So I'd have to hit 24, 25 years, which, you know, yeah, like you said, you know, another, i mean, i I got to hit another 10 years, you know.

00:37:23.35
Mike
he All

00:37:29.46
Mike
right.

00:37:29.61
Bill
um i mean again i it was i have there was nothing that was listening to that they came across i have no idea whatsoever why i i thought about that but it reminded me of you remember freddie from who do you know the the one that used to um tell the same fucking story the same lead he looked like uh kind of bigger guy bald freddie remember freddie

00:37:46.64
Mike
Yeah. Oh, ya yeah I know you're talking about now.

00:37:51.83
Bill
Yeah.

00:37:51.87
Mike
Yeah.

00:37:52.19
Bill
So I remember him um at that, at that timeframe that he was telling the story all the time, he had just hit that mark whatever it was, it was 25 or 30 years or whatever it was.

00:37:58.93
Mike
Hmm. Okay.

00:38:00.67
Bill
And that popped into my head after I thought about that, but I don't know, it was just interesting to me.

00:38:04.23
Mike
Mm

00:38:05.75
Bill
And then I remember when, as we were going through this whole thing, you know, I, I, I got focused on like, okay, so how long do I have to stay sober until I've been, I've been sober longer than I treated, let's say Dawn like shit.

00:38:15.80
Mike
if

00:38:19.37
Bill
You know what i mean?

00:38:19.86
Mike
hmm.

00:38:20.25
Bill
And until I treated other people like shit, which I can't, again, you talk about family, who knows?

00:38:21.52
Mike
Hmm.

00:38:24.69
Bill
I could have been since I was, you know, again, 15, 16 years old.

00:38:25.34
Mike
Right.

00:38:28.12
Mike
Yeah.

00:38:28.17
Bill
But I don't know. It just, it it crossed my mind. And I'm like, well, one way or the other, you and I got to get 25 plus.

00:38:34.34
Mike
Yeah. Well, apparently I got hit 28, so... Uh-huh. Uh-huh. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:38:36.31
Bill
Until is that's a break even point. I don't know. it's call it call Call it a goal or call it whatever you want to call it.

00:38:39.08
Mike
Yeah.

00:38:41.63
Bill
and it ah It just...

00:38:42.14
Mike
apparently i got to hit twenty eight so ah

00:38:46.87
Bill
You know what? if if mine's That's kind of funny. If mine's 24, I beat you by fucking four years. Four years on that is the four days.

00:38:52.69
Mike
ahha

00:38:53.17
Bill
God, there's just shit all over the place.

00:38:53.74
Mike
aha

00:38:55.93
Bill
I've done fentanyl and you've never done it.

00:38:57.94
Mike
yeah yeah

00:39:00.47
Bill
I didn't really do it. It was done to me. to you know

00:39:03.29
Mike
Yes.

00:39:04.40
Bill
got to fucking verse it in fentanyl cocktail as a freebie.

00:39:09.29
Mike
All

00:39:10.07
Bill
yeah Anyhow, but I don't know. Again, I have no idea i have no idea why that one it stuck out in my head, but it did. so Anyhow.

00:39:16.07
Mike
right. All right. Well, now I'm thinking about it. Thanks, pal.

00:39:22.07
Bill
yeah you're You're welcome. You're welcome. something Something to work towards. You know what? Maybe we should just do it one day at a time. What do you think?

00:39:27.42
Mike
You know what? That's kind of what my plan has been. I'm just going to continue to stay sober one day at a time. And if it happens, it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't. and I don't fucking care. I'll be sober today.

00:39:39.38
Bill
Right. I and mean, well, you know, and you think about it too. And that's, that was the second thought I had today. I'm like, I always start, you know, it's like once we round that first of the year, then we're heading into, you know, kind of like the, the quote, here's my air quotes, the the home stretch, you know, of our next year.

00:39:51.86
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:39:53.17
Bill
I'm like, Jesus Christ, we're, you know, we're, we're peeking around the corner at fucking 16 years. Okay.

00:39:57.82
Mike
Yeah.

00:39:58.06
Bill
One day at a time that fucking happened.

00:40:00.15
Mike
Right.

00:40:01.14
Bill
I mean, Jesus Christ.

00:40:01.45
Mike
Yeah.

00:40:04.21
Bill
So anyhow, anyhow. All right. So um back to some sobriety shit. Sorry on bringing up, i don't know, whatever the fuck that was.

00:40:10.04
Mike
Yeah. Whatever. Hmm.

00:40:12.38
Bill
um All right. So this was from God Grant Me. Recently, I believe, maybe even today or yesterday, what little things have I done lately that that have big results? Or what little things can I do that will have big results?

00:40:22.24
Mike
Hmm.

00:40:25.27
Bill
And the only thing i only reason I wrote that down is I don't know that I've ever really thought about um things that I do and they're the results that they have.

00:40:25.52
Mike
Hmm.

00:40:33.64
Bill
You know, like you just said, you know, the one day at a time type of thing.

00:40:36.33
Mike
Yeah.

00:40:36.48
Bill
um just Things just kind of happen. But is there anything you can think of that you've done lately that you're like, God damn, you know, this, I don't know, led to this result or this is what I can do or what I do that gives decent results?

00:40:49.71
Bill
Yeah.

00:40:50.52
Mike
No, because there there isn't anything I could do.

00:40:54.14
Bill
hey

00:40:54.80
Mike
All I could do is the little things. And if a big result happens to happen, um okay. But i all I did was little shit because that's all I can do.

00:41:04.54
Bill
if

00:41:05.85
Mike
um Yeah.

00:41:05.98
Bill
Right.

00:41:06.69
Mike
No, i know I absolutely don't think about it that way. The little things I could do for big results. That's fucking stupid. I don't like that.

00:41:14.26
Bill
Right.

00:41:14.96
Mike
I don't even remember reading reading that.

00:41:18.07
Bill
Well, that was in your book. So, so there.

00:41:20.15
Mike
Okay. Well, it's not my book. It's our book. Mr. Hand.

00:41:25.47
Bill
It's something we've read on our time. Every once in a while that does it kind of cracks me up when I read some of these things. You're like, I don't like that.

00:41:32.09
Mike
Right.

00:41:33.40
Bill
I like, I like, I like.

00:41:33.40
Mike
i don't. I, you know, right. I'm again, that's, that's like fucking, you know, grandiose thinking and woo of big things and I don't fucking anything. No, you know, little things.

00:41:44.77
Mike
Yes. There are little things. And if, if the accumulation of these little things happens to make something big happen, okay. But that's just the little things I'm doing because that's all I can do is the little things.

00:41:55.20
Bill
Right.

00:41:57.40
Bill
Right. Yeah, and I it's a i didn't, as not as always, because sometimes I do, i my I get my head and start thinking about these things, but this one I didn't think about at all.

00:42:06.22
Mike
Oh,

00:42:08.53
Bill
And I guess that I i agree with you you know completely.

00:42:12.92
Mike
right.

00:42:13.43
Bill
I agree with you because, um, I don't know, I've never really, I can't think of anything that I planned out, uh, that I can pinpoint that says, okay, if I do this, I'm even, even just entering into like something big, like the, the fifth step, the fifth step is a big deal, right?

00:42:20.50
Mike
o

00:42:29.94
Mike
ah right

00:42:30.20
Bill
We all know that, you know, but I didn't walk into the fifth step going, all right, I just is going to give me a, it's going to yield me a big result.

00:42:38.14
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.

00:42:39.42
Bill
I just wanted to get up and tell my fucking story because I thought whatever I had to say was really fucking important. you know

00:42:43.77
Mike
Sure.

00:42:45.24
Bill
So i I never thought and that that's that that's kind of a big deal you know in in this in the step world, right?

00:42:49.53
Mike
Yeah.

00:42:51.44
Bill
um

00:42:51.61
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:42:52.98
Bill
I don't know. i've never There's nothing that I've ever thought about, nothing I could really pinpoint. Even looking back, I mean, I suppose you can you can look back at a series of events if we really dug deep into into anything and be like, okay, this ended up leading to this big thing, but it's a progression.

00:43:04.15
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:43:07.54
Mike
Sure. Yeah, right.

00:43:08.96
Bill
you know And you know sometimes quickly, sometimes slowly.

00:43:12.34
Mike
Yeah.

00:43:12.38
Bill
I've always said my my fucking life is sometimes slowly.

00:43:13.34
Mike
Yeah. And that's a good thing.

00:43:15.46
Bill
Yeah. It is. I swear, i swear to, again, anything, anything that I can, if, if I get, I win when I've gotten stuff too quickly.

00:43:27.34
Bill
And I can't remember the last time I've gotten something too quickly.

00:43:29.98
Mike
so

00:43:30.30
Bill
um You know, in, I really can't, you know, because sometimes if I, I'm sure, I'm not even sure.

00:43:33.14
Mike
right

00:43:37.80
Bill
I wonder if I just don't, don't accept it if I think it's going to happen too quick. Cause yeah I'm like, like, yeah, this this is, well,

00:43:41.59
Mike
Yeah, right. Yeah. That's exactly what I was thinking. You know, we don't fucking allow shit to happen too quickly anymore. You know, we we go slow purposely.

00:43:48.73
Bill
Right. Right.

00:43:50.99
Mike
we We walk with purpose today, which means, yeah, not rushing into things. Not, yeah, we don't allow things to happen too quickly to us today. That's good.

00:44:01.82
Bill
right

00:44:02.33
Mike
Yeah.

00:44:03.51
Bill
Yeah, I mean, and if it because I think that if things were going to happen or do, and I can't think of any examples of anything, but um I'm pretty sure that if things are are about to happen too quickly, I get that, not freaked out, but you know you get that almost that internal feeling of, something's fucking wrong here, but I'm not going to do that.

00:44:09.55
Mike
Hmm.

00:44:16.57
Mike
Yeah.

00:44:19.33
Mike
Yeah. Yeah.

00:44:21.78
Bill
You know?

00:44:21.80
Mike
Uneasiness.

00:44:23.01
Bill
Yeah. and who knows who knows the number of things I might have bypassed because I thought it was too fucking easy.

00:44:28.98
Mike
Right.

00:44:29.72
Bill
But it's okay, you know, because again, it's made ah apparently, I was going to say not even maybe, apparently at whatever that was, wasn't meant to be if I bypassed it or fuck who knows.

00:44:30.65
Mike
Yeah, right.

00:44:38.01
Mike
and this Right.

00:44:40.98
Bill
Who fucking knows.

00:44:41.91
Mike
Yeah. I certainly don't.

00:44:45.78
Bill
Maybe when you get little bit more time, you'll, you'll you know, yeah.

00:44:47.42
Mike
Yeah, right. No, I won't. Yes.

00:44:50.90
Bill
yeah I know, and i don't I don't want to know anymore. i don't Well, I don't want to know anything any quicker.

00:44:53.68
Mike
Yes.

00:44:55.58
Bill
I want to i just want it to happen, like you said, one one fucking day at a time, right?

00:44:57.66
Mike
Yes. this is

00:45:01.27
Bill
all right, so on on that note, I think we're looking at, we're evenly at the at the halfway point with this whole recording thing.

00:45:02.71
Mike
yes Yes, we are.

00:45:07.03
Bill
So what do what do you say there, brother?

00:45:08.34
Mike
I say that we didn't do shit and we ended up right exactly where we're supposed to be.

00:45:14.58
Bill
ah

00:45:14.94
Mike
So we'll be back with more of the Sober Not Mature showgram right after these words from our sponsor. sir

00:45:31.86
Bill
All right, everyone. Welcome back. What the fuck is this show, Graham?

00:45:37.30
Mike
don't know. Yeah.

00:45:40.72
Bill
I was thinking, I'm like, did I miss something along the way?

00:45:42.94
Mike
me

00:45:43.26
Bill
It's probably one of these fucking words that you throw out that I had no idea what what you're talking about. So, yeah.

00:45:47.83
Mike
Right.

00:45:49.32
Bill
Okay. So speaking of speaking of things that people don't know, and this is the the celebrating the celebrating dick Dick Van Dyke on on the 13th, which is if people are listening today.

00:45:58.17
Mike
Yes. Mm-hmm.

00:46:01.57
Bill
So December 13th, he's going to be 100 years old.

00:46:04.97
Mike
Yup.

00:46:05.82
Bill
which um they mentioned that on the radio, and I remember it being talked about over the last probably even five or six months. And I don't, here's it. Well, let me let me step back here.

00:46:16.28
Bill
So for, we have been hitting a younger audience, a 35 to like 44 range. So I don't know if um if he's been in anything recently where people would know, or if he's been in memes because people do it like a dick pic, you know, um would people know who Dick Van Dyke is?

00:46:28.16
Mike
Hmm.

00:46:30.65
Mike
Right.

00:46:33.75
Bill
i don't know.

00:46:34.01
Mike
I mean, you know, most everybody see Mary Poppins and, you know, yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:46:37.62
Bill
right

00:46:41.40
Mike
Right. Well, and do you know when he got sober?

00:46:45.78
Bill
um When I know that it was during the Dick Van Dyke show, because both him and what's her face?

00:46:48.31
Mike
if

00:46:54.71
Bill
Why can't I think of her name? Who is his wife?

00:46:55.77
Mike
Mary Tyler Moore.

00:46:56.86
Bill
There you go. um I think both of them were, they were talking about this on the radio this morning. They were saying that both of them were heavy, heavy drinkers at that time. Is that correct or incorrect or

00:47:05.02
Mike
I don't think he got sober then. I think it was a little later.

00:47:08.05
Bill
No.

00:47:09.14
Mike
He got sober when he was 50 years old, so he's going to hit his halfway point.

00:47:09.24
Bill
Okay.

00:47:14.58
Bill
Oh, okay. Okay.

00:47:16.47
Mike
Yeah, I just read something about that like yesterday.

00:47:16.70
Bill
Well, they go nice.

00:47:19.73
Mike
Because he was talking about his sobriety. Yeah, Yep. Yep.

00:47:23.06
Bill
Right.

00:47:23.51
Mike
and yeah he was fifty when he got sober

00:47:26.26
Bill
Nice. Well, we beat him too. Fuck him then.

00:47:29.24
Mike
you know

00:47:31.00
Bill
but But, but so recently, and it was on, I know it was Instagram, but it was either, it was some celebrity that I don't, I don't, it wasn't Charlie Sheen. It was either like a Sean Penn or a Kevin Bacon or somebody like that.

00:47:45.11
Mike
Alright.

00:47:45.43
Bill
Somebody that's in there, I think that's in their mid-60s, who was out in the gym working out and thinking they're feeling pretty good being their age and working out.

00:47:45.59
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:47:55.24
Bill
They walked into this fucking gym and there's this fucking 99-year-old Dick Van Dyke hitting the fucking weights.

00:47:55.60
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:48:00.16
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.

00:48:02.20
Bill
And they're like, well, Jesus Christ, I don't feel so great anymore.

00:48:04.95
Mike
right

00:48:05.11
Bill
I'm like, okay, so I'm fucking 65. And I was proud of myself a minute ago. And fucking Dick Van Dyke, he apparently still does go to the gym three days a week.

00:48:14.12
Mike
Mm-hmm. Nice.

00:48:14.87
Bill
but To the gym, like goes out of his house and goes to goddamn gym.

00:48:15.96
Mike
Yeah. Yeah? Yeah?

00:48:18.65
Bill
oh Like Jesus Christ. Okay. So speaking of Mary Poppins and I had never heard this before, but one of the, again, one of the guys in the morning show had mentioned this. He just heard this same thing, heard this on the radio article, whatever it was that recently.

00:48:33.18
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:48:34.74
Bill
So the movie Mary Poppins, um, I came out in 1964, believe They said, okay.

00:48:40.66
Mike
Sounds about right.

00:48:42.02
Bill
And I wouldn't have known just just guessing or anything like that. And that was a Disney production for anyone who doesn't know. And I knew that, but you know it was kind of like, oh yeah, that's right. um Disneyland was ah there at the time.

00:48:56.18
Bill
That was already built, I believe.

00:48:56.67
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:48:58.42
Bill
It sounded like based on what they were talking about. But they said that um Mary Poppins was so popular and made so much money that Disney as a corporation took all the profits that they made from Mary Poppins.

00:49:12.82
Bill
And again, at the time, secretly bought the land in Orlando um to build Disney World. And I bought more than they thought they'd need because apparently they ran out of space, you know, for Disneyland, whatever, how many acre acres that's on.

00:49:26.26
Mike
Right.

00:49:26.44
Bill
um But they, they like overbought and whatever. And just again, whatever, whatever the, the, the money that was made apparently was a fucking ton. And that's the money that fucking Mary Poppins, you know, built fucking at least the land, the land, you know, that obviously ended up, you know, what it's now Disney world.

00:49:34.31
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:49:40.85
Mike
Mm hmm.

00:49:43.62
Bill
I'm like, I've never fucking heard that before. Yeah.

00:49:46.68
Mike
Interesting.

00:49:47.83
Bill
Yeah, I thought so too, but um I don't know. I mean, I suppose that at that time you think that I don't know. i don't know how much money it made, whatever the deal was. Apparently from what they were saying, the land prices were relatively cheap because they kind of bought it on the sly at that time.

00:49:59.94
Mike
Sure.

00:50:01.83
Bill
I don't know if they were trying to get ahead of whatever competition was out there, whoever the competition is.

00:50:01.90
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:50:06.71
Bill
But they, it wasn't like ah they didn't like hold a press conference and say, oh yeah, by the way, were we're going to go buy land and build something fucking bigger than what we have here.

00:50:12.33
Mike
Right.

00:50:15.86
Mike
Yeah, exactly.

00:50:17.03
Bill
So,

00:50:17.50
Mike
In the middle of Florida, a bunch of fucking farmland and shit.

00:50:17.78
Bill
so

00:50:20.18
Mike
Yeah.

00:50:20.25
Bill
right Right. Yeah. and Look at what it is. Look at what it is now. So, yeah, it's just it kind of blew my mind. But I don't know. it Dick Van Dyke is he's cool. You know, i mean, he's been he's been in in so many fucking things.

00:50:30.18
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:50:32.53
Bill
and If you don't know who Dick Van Dyke is, just look him up. I mean, he's he's a lot of fun. He's a decent human being. From what I understand, I don't I don't think I've heard. I'm sure is a is a drunk. I mean, he had his moments, you know, like we all do.

00:50:43.09
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:50:44.48
Bill
But I don't remember I don't remember ever hearing any, you know, controversy about, you know, fucking Dick Van Dyke over the years.

00:50:49.08
Mike
Right. Mm-hmm.

00:50:50.86
Bill
You

00:50:51.19
Mike
Yes. Yeah.

00:50:53.59
Bill
Okay. So I don't know, you know, it just, it is what it is. It's kind of fun seeing, you know, a decent human being like that, that actually, you know, sticks around and you're like, Jesus Christ, that fucker will never die. You know, maybe some other person, but not Dick Van Dyke. He's all right. So.

00:51:07.54
Mike
yes

00:51:08.82
Bill
All right. So, and I forgot, i he wasn't even thinking that he was sober. And I sure as fuck didn't know he had, you know, 50 years. or So look at that.

00:51:14.94
Mike
yeah

00:51:16.10
Bill
Inadvertently made that a sobriety story along with along with talking about old Dick.

00:51:17.72
Mike
he this

00:51:22.01
Bill
All right. So im not speaking of old Dick anymore. What about burning bridges?

00:51:26.49
Mike
um All right. What about it?

00:51:27.10
Bill
um This came up and in a reading too about, it mentioned burning bridges. So do you, do you think that, burning a bridge is a is a good thing, bad thing, or does it depend?

00:51:37.86
Bill
Or I don't know what your opinion on like burning bridges with somebody or or something like that.

00:51:42.74
Mike
Right. That depends what that bridge is connected to.

00:51:46.17
Bill
Well, that's that's why i did I did put in here, does it depend?

00:51:48.26
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:51:50.38
Bill
Okay.

00:51:50.98
Mike
Yes, it does. um Yeah.

00:51:52.60
Bill
okay

00:51:53.58
Mike
you know ah Burn all kinds of bridges. You know, sometimes burning a bridge is a good thing. um Burning bridges to your past and and bad behavior and all that good stuff and people, places and things that you don't fucking need to be around.

00:52:03.29
Bill
Right.

00:52:06.60
Mike
Burn that goddamn bridge so you don't go back to it. um You know, and yeah sometimes you burn a bridge that's connected to something good and you burned it down through your own behavior and bad decisions and you wish you didn't. But, you know, sometimes you can rebuild it and sometimes you can't.

00:52:24.47
Mike
Um, yeah, you know, right. Um, again, yes, it could be a good thing. It could be a bad thing. It could be, you know, sometimes it's fixable. Sometimes it isn't.

00:52:35.74
Mike
Um, i don't know what to fucking tell you.

00:52:41.43
Bill
Well, technically I wasn't asking for your advice, but, but thank you.

00:52:43.26
Mike
yeah

00:52:46.03
Bill
Just, it's just the way he said that.

00:52:46.46
Mike
You're welcome. Right.

00:52:48.07
Bill
I don't know what the fuck to tell you. The fuck do I know? what's like It's,

00:52:51.32
Mike
right Some goddamn drunk junkie. i don't know what the fuck I'm talking about.

00:52:56.82
Bill
yeah you sit there After all that, you're like, i what I don't know. I don't know what to fucking tell you. What the fuck? But, you know, the the thing with it is you brought up something that was that I thought was interesting in there, though, that I've always just thought of ah burning.

00:53:09.83
Bill
And that this is typical for me, so i'm I'm glad you said it. And I'm glad i I thought this might be a meaningless topic, but it turns out maybe maybe it's not.

00:53:15.30
Mike
Ah. Okay.

00:53:17.22
Bill
And I'll tell you why. Yeah. So I have an idea, God damn it. um

00:53:21.66
Mike
Okay.

00:53:23.19
Bill
Like a lot of things, I think of the negative, right? So I was thinking of only the, you know, kind of fucking things up.

00:53:25.64
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:53:29.85
Bill
Ah, shit, man. either Either I burn that bridge, like you said, you know, with all with my behavior or...

00:53:30.38
Mike
Sure.

00:53:34.43
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:53:34.63
Bill
Um, I got angry and it's like, you know, fucking lit that thing on fire and maybe I shouldn't have, you know?

00:53:38.67
Mike
Uh-huh. Right.

00:53:39.75
Bill
So that's what I was thinking of. But you said burning a bridge to some bad shit, you know, or bad people or bad things.

00:53:45.45
Mike
Yeah. Uh-huh.

00:53:47.99
Bill
So we don't get, you know, don't cross it again. And in my mind, I, I kind of threw in the word tempted, you know, so we're not tempted to cross it again.

00:53:50.65
Mike
Yeah.

00:53:54.19
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right?

00:53:56.73
Bill
And that's fucking cool. Yeah.

00:53:58.94
Mike
Yeah.

00:53:59.16
Bill
Because i never thought about that before. You know, um I never thought about literally saying that, you know, for for my own benefit, I need to light that motherfucker on fire.

00:54:02.36
Mike
um

00:54:10.19
Mike
Yeah.

00:54:10.65
Bill
You know.

00:54:10.74
Mike
Yeah.

00:54:10.99
Bill
Right.

00:54:11.07
Mike
Goddamn right.

00:54:14.33
Mike
Well, I mean, you know, what is a bridge? It's it's something that connects two things.

00:54:18.55
Bill
Right.

00:54:19.06
Mike
Yeah. You know, well yeah. Sometimes, you know, you don't want to be connected to something. Light that fucker on fire.

00:54:27.79
Bill
Right. Yeah. And it's, uh, and I, I think that probably in my, in my head and in my nature would be just you know, kind of walk away and be like, I'm not gonna, I don't need that bridge anymore. I'm just going to be over here, you know, but negative shit's on the other side.

00:54:39.00
Mike
Sure.

00:54:41.48
Bill
And you're like, okay, so yeah, maybe, no, I mean, maybe, I need to get rid of that thing. You know, need to lose a phone number. I need to never try, you know, try to call the person again. I need never try to whatever the case is.

00:54:50.56
Mike
Mm-hmm. Yep.

00:54:52.31
Bill
Um, I can't, I can't, I can't be around that.

00:54:54.78
Mike
Yeah, break that connection.

00:54:54.87
Bill
That's, you know, yeah, that's fucking toxic thing.

00:54:56.35
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:54:58.37
Bill
You know, that thing over there.

00:54:58.99
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:54:59.57
Bill
So, um, no, I'm just seriously, I've, how fucking weird is that? That I've never thought of that.

00:55:04.51
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:55:07.42
Bill
But um I don't know. It's sometimes that this happens like this. on It seems like on a semi-regular basis that, you know, you when you and I are talking, I'm like, well, fuck, I never never thought about that.

00:55:20.34
Bill
Yeah, but I just thought that's good. So, yeah, yeah.

00:55:22.62
Mike
yeah

00:55:22.74
Bill
Get get rid of that shit.

00:55:23.19
Mike
and you know Yeah, right. Because I'm way too busy over here building another bridge to something good.

00:55:29.62
Bill
Right.

00:55:30.17
Mike
Yeah.

00:55:32.41
Bill
Right. Okay. So um let's take a little bit of ah a turn here. This was a this was an article. um usually don't dip into the articles till the end, but this is kind of a little bit of a downer article.

00:55:44.00
Bill
So we get to we get to come out of the to get to come out of the we get to come out of the dead dog story.

00:55:45.25
Mike
All right.

00:55:48.48
Bill
yeah you know

00:55:48.76
Mike
Nice. Coming out of that up-tempo record.

00:55:52.73
Bill
Yeah, no no dog died in this as far as far as I know. but

00:55:56.60
Mike
All right.

00:55:57.40
Bill
So let's let's play a little bit of a game here for just you and I, Mike, and may ah anyone else you could play along to, but I won't know exactly.

00:56:02.10
Mike
Play along at home.

00:56:05.07
Bill
So I want you to guess, as I'm reading the article, I want you to guess the gender of the person that is in the article, um roughly the age of the individual, and And then also the side of town that they might live on.

00:56:18.92
Bill
This is a Milwaukee story. I know you don't know Milwaukee, but what I mean is, were they in a good side of town or are they from a bad side of town?

00:56:21.46
Mike
Right. Right, yeah. What side of the tracks is this story coming from?

00:56:27.48
Bill
Correct. Correct. So, okay. So you got you you you get what I'm laying down here. I'm just i'm curious to see what ah curious to see what you come up to.

00:56:31.77
Mike
i gotcha.

00:56:34.91
Bill
So um a Milwaukee individual has been charged in a hit and run incident that left a 26-year-old Lyft driver critically injured after being struck by a vehicle while unloading luggage on December 1st near Knapp and Van Buren Avenues.

00:56:49.74
Bill
Or Avenues. I'm sorry, Knappen, Van Bure Avenue. Just so you know, those are that's downtown. Okay, not that that matters, but that's that's downtown.

00:56:55.76
Mike
Okay.

00:56:57.84
Bill
Busy-ish area. You've been to downtown Milwaukee.

00:56:59.90
Mike
Yeah, sure.

00:57:00.38
Bill
It's not Chicago, but it could be busy-ish.

00:57:02.54
Mike
Sure.

00:57:04.02
Bill
Authorities identified the subject. um I'm going to keep going. um Oh, she, God damn it.

00:57:10.52
Mike
yeah So, wait, it's a female. I got that part.

00:57:16.70
Bill
back Okay. That's okay. That's okay.

00:57:18.75
Mike
Yep, all right.

00:57:19.51
Bill
um Police. This is the interesting part though. Police used an insurance claim and a false police report to track down the individual. um Person claimed that the car was hit while the person was at work, but surveillance footage showed the vehicle returning to her apartment after the crash.

00:57:36.50
Bill
um Hang on one second here. So the dude's in um the the Lyft driver. um He's in a coma. Number one, severe injuries, including brain bleeding and abdominal organ damage.

00:57:48.85
Bill
So this dude got fucked up.

00:57:48.95
Mike
e

00:57:50.79
Bill
All he's doing, he you know, Lyft driver, you know, just fucking unloading fucking luggage.

00:57:51.00
Mike
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Getting some suitcases out of the trunk. Right.

00:57:57.11
Bill
Yeah, or out of the car, whatever it was. And, you know, she maybe it was a hit skip or whatever the deal was.

00:57:59.00
Mike
Yeah.

00:58:01.70
Mike
Uh-huh.

00:58:01.75
Bill
um So the mother reporter a claim not true. Oh, it said that um the there was surveillance footage from the apartment for this individual's apartment. showing the person stumbling and having trouble walking.

00:58:16.00
Bill
Though the person has not been charged with operating while intoxicated, the complaint indicates that the person could face OWI charges if more evidence is found and harsher charges if this lift driver's obviously condition worsens.

00:58:30.85
Mike
Oh,

00:58:31.57
Bill
Seth Bale, God, Bale's only 20 grand. I say only because that's it's kind of fucked up.

00:58:33.87
Mike
hmm.

00:58:35.48
Bill
with you know But anyhow.

00:58:36.17
Mike
Yeah.

00:58:36.80
Bill
All right. So, well, obviously, I i let the let the the female thing come out. So yeah everyone knows there's a female. So age and side of the town.

00:58:46.97
Mike
Um, hmm. I mean, I'm going to think probably, probably a nicer side of town since there's, you know, cameras and stuff up at the apartments. And, uh, Let's go mid-50s.

00:59:01.05
Bill
Cut that in half. 26.

00:59:03.45
Mike
Oh, okay.

00:59:04.79
Bill
um Or no, I'm sorry. No, she's 24. The Uber driver, Lyft driver was 26. But yeah, she's 24.

00:59:11.67
Mike
Okay.

00:59:11.81
Bill
She was arrested at her parents' home in New Berlin. um But I'm guessing she but she might live downtown.

00:59:15.37
Mike
Ah.

00:59:18.25
Bill
She actually might live downtown. So I would say probably, I'm i'm guessing too, based on the story, it was nicer side of town. um But yeah, I mean, the age is what kind of threw me because usually this is you knows when people get into our ripe old age, they've been drinking for a while, that they you know start doing fucked up things like this.

00:59:24.01
Mike
Mm-hmm.

00:59:34.26
Bill
but um So here's here's a couple of things. The reason that i that it it caught my attention, well, two things, three things, maybe two. Um, I, I did Uber and Lyft for a while.

00:59:45.53
Bill
Um, you know, so I put myself on that side of literally on that side of the coin.

00:59:45.62
Mike
Right.

00:59:49.49
Bill
Um, you know, I did it, I did all those things while I was sober.

00:59:49.69
Mike
oh

00:59:52.57
Bill
Um, you know, but I was everywhere. I was at the fucking airport. I was downtown. I was, you know, side of road, all this different shit, you know, so anything like that obviously could happen. That's number one.

01:00:02.04
Mike
Mm hmm.

01:00:02.47
Bill
But then the other thing too, um, you know, I mean, we've talked about it openly, right? You know, I mean, all the times that, that we drove, um, whilst intoxicated, And, um, I mean, think about that.

01:00:10.18
Mike
Oh, yeah. Mm hmm.

01:00:13.85
Bill
I mean, it, I, it's, it's nearly impossible to even comprehend, but then again, it's not, you know, um, easily cut and comprehend being, being that person in the car that, you know, fucking almost, and who knows, maybe completely took out an Uber driver, you know?

01:00:19.67
Mike
Right. Oh, no

01:00:28.72
Mike
yeah. Right. Oh, yeah. I mean, plenty of times I drove in a complete blackout, you know.

01:00:35.06
Bill
Right.

01:00:35.15
Mike
So, yeah, you know, absolutely.

01:00:35.22
Bill
Right.

01:00:37.55
Mike
um It could have, should have happened. um Thankfully, it didn't.

01:00:41.48
Bill
Right.

01:00:43.06
Mike
um Yeah, I don't know.

01:00:47.70
Mike
So, yeah, you know, that bad shit happens all the time.

01:00:51.58
Bill
Right. Yeah. No, I, I agree. I agree wholeheartedly. It just kind of, uh, it, it threw me off and then, yeah, just the, the person's age. I don't know why the, the 24 threw me off, but I mean, know, nobody's immune to it, but it just seemed it's again, it would seem like, you know, white person, mid fifties, know, from, you know,

01:00:59.38
Mike
Right. yes

01:01:07.83
Mike
Yeah, yeah. That was right.

01:01:11.16
Bill
Yeah. From like you said, probably, well, the camera thing maybe gave it away, but you know, probably from, you know, it probably a decent part of town, you know, depending on what the situation is.

01:01:18.11
Mike
Right.

01:01:19.10
Bill
Some, some entitled fucking, you know, middle-aged, middle-aged white, white dude is usually what it would be, you know, driving down the road, fucking tanked and, you know, fucking almost takes out or or does, you know, take out an Uber driver.

01:01:21.19
Mike
Yep.

01:01:23.99
Mike
Yep. Mm-hmm.

01:01:31.38
Mike
Yep.

01:01:32.22
Bill
Um, all right. So, uh, on hopefully a happier note coming out of the dead dog story, um, God grant me again.

01:01:36.73
Mike
Yes.

01:01:39.47
Bill
Let's see if you like this one.

01:01:40.66
Mike
all right.

01:01:41.82
Bill
Um, learning teaches more. Did I read this one? Learning teaches more in one year than experience does in 20 years.

01:01:48.31
Mike
I think we talked about this one.

01:01:50.45
Bill
Did we? I thought we'd, God damn it.

01:01:51.77
Mike
Yeah. yeah

01:01:52.15
Bill
what

01:01:52.82
Mike
Whatever.

01:01:53.08
Bill
You know,

01:01:53.31
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:01:55.28
Bill
That's one that i apparently I didn't cross. i didn't As soon as I started reading, I'm like, fuck, we talked about this.

01:01:59.80
Mike
is this

01:01:59.88
Bill
Okay, I'm just going to take a stab right in the middle of my thing. 24 hours a day. How's that?

01:02:04.02
Mike
All right

01:02:05.88
Bill
I pray that I may see something good in every person, even one I dislike. Did we talk about that too?

01:02:10.97
Mike
Yes.

01:02:12.03
Bill
What the I think I'm um' literally, I think I'm writing this stuff down twice because that was like way at the way the beginning of it.

01:02:16.44
Mike
I'm a little bored right now.

01:02:19.82
Bill
Let's try this.

01:02:22.64
Bill
24

01:02:25.27
Bill
Do we talk about being bored ever? You're fucking laughing.

01:02:30.87
Bill
Jesus Christ. Okay. um Have I gotten rid of the fear of being bored or specifically when did you stop being bored after you got sober? Last line also mentioned boredom is self-centeredness.

01:02:42.17
Bill
that we We talked about that too, didn't we?

01:02:42.39
Mike
he Yeah, we did. a long time ago.

01:02:45.66
Bill
Oh my God. Okay. Do you get anything? um i seem to be so I seem to be striking out here.

01:02:49.40
Mike
I mean, um we could we could talk about another dick. We could talk about Andy dick.

01:02:55.06
Bill
Oh, you know, you know what I, I saw that, but yeah, go ahead and yeah. Tell that story. Cause I, I didn't, I didn't think to even write it down.

01:02:59.32
Mike
I mean, there's... Right. I mean, there's not much to talk about. He fucking slumped over on a porch somewhere and, you know, whatever. And then the next day he's all, yeah, i smoked a little crack.

01:03:10.25
Mike
It's fine. um You know, I mean, the poor son of a bitch, man, just, you know,

01:03:11.06
Bill
yeah

01:03:16.89
Mike
fucking walking billboard for denial. um Yeah, you know, yeah I mean, it's it's sad.

01:03:19.48
Bill
Right.

01:03:24.31
Mike
um You know, because clearly he had some sobriety at one point.

01:03:28.06
Bill
Did he really?

01:03:28.15
Mike
um Oh, yeah. that he His picture was up at the wall at the rock.

01:03:32.92
Bill
Oh shit.

01:03:34.30
Mike
Yeah.

01:03:34.36
Bill
I completely forgot about that.

01:03:35.64
Mike
Yeah. He did a little time at the Keating Center. Yeah.

01:03:38.58
Bill
Oh Jesus. I, I fucking, I fucking forgot. it i fucking forgot about that. Oh wow. Okay.

01:03:45.21
Mike
Yeah. So, um, yeah, he, he had a bit of sobriety for a while. Um, you know, walked away from it. It's, you know, his choice, whatever, or not, probably not his choice.

01:03:54.94
Bill
Right.

01:03:57.91
Mike
Um, yeah, you know, just, uh, super fucked up. yeah i mean, the guy's what pushing 60.

01:04:04.25
Bill
Yeah, I would think.

01:04:04.38
Mike
yeah Yeah. I think I, he's like my age. Um, and, uh, pushing 60 and, hey

01:04:10.33
Bill
i was going to leave it. I was going leave it alone.

01:04:13.21
Mike
man Yeah, damn right.

01:04:13.49
Bill
You said it. I was just going leave it alone.

01:04:15.65
Mike
And, ah you know, yeah, you know, just out there fucking up still um trying to live like he's goddamn still page speaking of 24. um Yeah, it's just sad.

01:04:27.86
Mike
You know, um I hope he gets his shit together someday. But, you know, I hold my breath. But who how many people said that about me?

01:04:36.12
Bill
Right. Well, you know what? And the thing of it is that I saw the article and they do this. And I think I mentioned to you on the morning show, they do this, you know, they did it as a joke for years, a showbiz news thing.

01:04:48.42
Bill
But they I knew it was coming up, but I was in the middle of doing something, so i didn't I didn't hear that.

01:04:48.75
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:04:53.34
Bill
um But when I saw the article, I didn't know it was recent or if it was something that just popped up from the past. But this was so this was clearly recent then, right?

01:05:02.20
Mike
it Oh, yeah. Last day or two. Yeah.

01:05:05.50
Bill
Oh, real okay. Okay.

01:05:07.49
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:05:08.31
Bill
Yeah. And, uh, yeah, just some huge, some random random dude picked him up on, or was trying to help him on the street.

01:05:08.60
Mike
but

01:05:13.86
Bill
Right.

01:05:15.02
Mike
And they kind of knew him like from the neighborhood or something. And I mean, he did, you know, he did like a press conference or something. I think today or yesterday, day after i looked like shit.

01:05:26.13
Bill
Right.

01:05:27.34
Mike
um I think he was drinking straight vodka out of a fucking glass. um Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Looked like shit. Slurring his words. um Yeah. Guy's a fucking mess, man. Yeah.

01:05:44.25
Bill
Yeah. And that's a, again, I, I seriously, I completely fucking forgot about the whole, the whole Keating center thing. um Do you remember when that, when that was, I mean, that he, that he blew through there.

01:05:56.52
Bill
Do you remember anything about that?

01:05:57.21
Mike
I mean, it was a couple years before we were there.

01:06:00.09
Bill
Was it really, I couldn't remember.

01:06:00.82
Mike
Yeah.

01:06:01.37
Bill
I couldn't remember what it was.

01:06:02.94
Mike
Yeah, I think it was like two or three years before we were there. Mm-hmm.

01:06:07.45
Bill
Hmm. Yeah. Again, completely, completely forgot about that. That's just, uh, that's crazy.

01:06:12.55
Mike
Yep.

01:06:14.54
Bill
And you know what I'm, I'm kind of eyeballing all these fucking things I have on my list. I seriously think that like when was that? There's probably a handful of shit. It could have even been a handful of months ago for all I know. When you said that there's only like five things that we could talk about, we just keep talking about the same things.

01:06:27.85
Mike
Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. yeah

01:06:29.98
Bill
And I seriously think this is what, you know, the, I started this list back on September 20th. So all of these are literally within the last, you know, basically three months. Um, but last, last year, you know, and I, cause I had this whole long list of things who fucking knows, man.

01:06:46.50
Bill
I mean, I could have, I could have, I could have picked all these through all these goddamn things a fucking year ago because I don't know. I have original thoughts every once in a while, original feelings, you know, um, every once in a while, whereas like something that didn't, that didn't stick out, you know, to me, whatever it was a year ago or, or 10 years ago when I read something, you know, pops up and it pops into my head these days, but, uh,

01:06:56.48
Mike
Mmm. Mmm.

01:07:06.17
Mike
Sure. Mm-hmm.

01:07:10.80
Mike
Yeah, right. Well, yeah that's kind of the whole point. That's why we keep rereading them over and over again. not because we love them so much. It's because we fucking hopefully have grown and changed and we see something see something new or see something differently. And yeah, you know, and it hits us different. And, you know, maybe a phrase that hit us a couple of years ago, we' just kind of gloss over and something we glossed over a couple of years ago hits us this year.

01:07:36.92
Bill
Right. Well, I just wrote a note on the side of my paper, four words, delete all of these.

01:07:40.41
Mike
Yes. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

01:07:46.74
Bill
I swear to God, because I'm looking at all of these and I'm like, I don't, I know we've, we've had conversations about every one of these things. I don't know if it's because of things that I brought up or that just happened naturally, but I'm looking at, I'm like, ah again, every one of these fucking things, I'm just kind of like, again, like scanning over them as we're, as we're talking, like,

01:08:03.13
Mike
e

01:08:04.22
Bill
Okay, so step 12 talks about having had a spiritual awakening, but do you think that you are still evolving in that spiritual awakening?

01:08:05.18
Mike
who he ha

01:08:10.80
Bill
We just talked about this like two weeks ago.

01:08:13.34
Mike
Yep. Well, thank Christ we have a guest on next week.

01:08:18.74
Bill
Yeah, yeah and and speaking of that, yes, we have so we have Jeremy on next week.

01:08:23.46
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:08:23.54
Bill
who's He's ah you know checked in and touched base a couple of times, so we're we're good to go with him.

01:08:26.86
Mike
Cool.

01:08:27.62
Bill
and um Just to remind everyone, and I don't even know if you remembered, but he was referred to, so we had Betty on a handful of episodes ago.

01:08:27.93
Mike
Good.

01:08:34.78
Bill
Well, a couple of months ago now, I guess, if I'm thinking of it correctly.

01:08:35.21
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:08:38.66
Bill
and She's the one that referred him and then one other person. The other person never got back to us, and then Jeremy got back to us, we were just trying to find time, you know obviously, to get him on.

01:08:44.01
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:08:47.86
Bill
And then um we had another individual that's, say, with a recovery group or a sober living facility outside of Chicago.

01:08:47.99
Mike
Right?

01:08:55.34
Bill
um Just finalizing that stuff.

01:08:55.67
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:08:57.26
Bill
We're good to go. which is i just got to get the bio and stuff on that guy that we you and I just talked about.

01:08:58.49
Mike
Cool.

01:09:02.10
Bill
There was one other person I thought.

01:09:02.52
Mike
Right?

01:09:03.86
Bill
um Oh, yeah, yeah. There was ah one other person I put on our list just a couple of days ago that's coming up in December or January.

01:09:10.42
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:09:11.70
Bill
No, January. Jeremy's the only one for December. I don't know. We've got another guest coming up, I believe, in January. so But, yeah, we've got a couple of people coming up. Yeah, Jeremy next week.

01:09:21.97
Mike
That's good.

01:09:23.49
Bill
Jermaine is his name. He's on January 9th. And then I can't remember the other guy's name because I haven't put him on the list yet. But, yeah, like you said, and thank God we have –

01:09:32.93
Mike
to crawl up our own asses here.

01:09:35.19
Bill
Yeah, exactly. Well, you know, here's the good thing, too. And I do want to, because we had talked about it, I think you agreed. You know, I do want to read how it works at some point. i mean, that's always kind of a kind of a fallback.

01:09:44.85
Mike
Yeah.

01:09:46.71
Bill
The absolutes, I mean, we've been kind of chit-chatting about getting into that again. That's always a great conversation. We have things we can talk about.

01:09:51.56
Mike
Mm-hmm. Oh, sure.

01:09:53.34
Bill
You know, but I mean, yeah, when ah when I take a look at literally in almost it's 80% of the sheet of paper with all these fucking things on there.

01:09:53.50
Mike
Mm-hmm. Yep.

01:10:01.54
Bill
And I'm like, Jesus fucking Christ. I mean, every every fucking every one of them.

01:10:06.02
Mike
Yep.

01:10:06.07
Bill
Every fucking one of them. So.

01:10:07.46
Mike
All right. who yeah Well, yeah, we'll figure it out.

01:10:10.84
Bill
We will. We will figure it out. We will absolutely figure it out. Okay, so how about a couple of fun things? let's ah Let's dip in. Let's talk about us for a minute. How about let's talk about our...

01:10:18.23
Mike
and Okay, hey my favorite subject.

01:10:20.64
Bill
Let's talk about... Well, it's actually... It's not completely us. It's about our our fine listeners, too, in this this whole podcast.

01:10:26.30
Mike
Ah, yes.

01:10:28.30
Bill
So let me find my... Let me find my... I know. Where the fuck did it go?

01:10:35.70
Mike
The year in review, Sober Not Mature Edition.

01:10:37.69
Bill
Oh.

01:10:41.70
Bill
Spotify wrapped.

01:10:43.22
Mike
ha, ha, ha,

01:10:44.66
Bill
All right. So, um, first of all, our followers, um, God damn it. Did that cut off?

01:10:54.23
Mike
I don't know.

01:10:54.49
Bill
Um,

01:10:55.13
Mike
i don't know what the hell you're looking at.

01:10:56.85
Bill
okay.

01:10:57.14
Mike
Several hundred miles away from you.

01:10:58.05
Bill
So, um, our, um Our audience has increased, which I thought this was kind of interesting, from year over year by 34%.

01:11:04.63
Mike
this

01:11:08.48
Bill
Okay.

01:11:09.49
Mike
Cool.

01:11:10.07
Bill
Which is, I mean, that's, you know, kind of, i that's sort of significant, right?

01:11:14.23
Mike
Yeah. Yeah.

01:11:15.22
Bill
Even for, a you know, it doesn't matter percentages Percentages are what they are. It doesn't matter how many people it was.

01:11:19.06
Mike
Yeah.

01:11:20.37
Bill
Okay.

01:11:20.43
Mike
We're a third larger than we were.

01:11:22.62
Bill
And then our followers.

01:11:22.81
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:11:25.22
Bill
So, you know, people obviously can follow us on Spotify. That increased by 25%.

01:11:31.03
Mike
Nice.

01:11:31.35
Bill
So kind of interesting there. So our number one episode, and this is so fucking great. So this episode played 69% more or was played 69% more than our average episode, which I thought was kind of funny.

01:11:41.11
Mike
Yeah.

01:11:45.87
Bill
um

01:11:46.23
Mike
Nice.

01:11:47.26
Bill
episode 153 and it was the one that was entitled the second door on the left I don't remember what I remember I remember when you picked the title we were talking about something stupid you know it was some fucking smart ass thing and we're like yeah yeah it's ah it's that's not here it's the second door on the left or whatever it was so that's what you made the episode um but yeah so that was our it doesn't say how many I can look back and tell how many plays not that it fucking matters but Um, so we were talking about, uh, your fiance, um earlier.

01:11:57.21
Mike
Yeah. Yeah.

01:12:04.47
Mike
Right. Yeah.

01:12:17.76
Mike
Hmm. Hmm.

01:12:18.94
Bill
That's one of the episode clips I listened to when we were, you and I were talking, you're like, Hmm, you did that.

01:12:27.44
Mike
Cool.

01:12:28.25
Bill
You started laughing. I'm like, you know, I fucking love it when you do that. It's just all your fucking noises make me laugh. But so anyhow, so um for there, there's a certain number of people, there's 22 of our listeners that our podcast is their number one show.

01:12:42.62
Bill
Okay. So for 20, 22 people, kind of nice.

01:12:42.97
Mike
cool is

01:12:45.02
Bill
um Let's see. So this, this one, I don't, going go back to the, the, what other people listen or what other podcasts people listen to, but, This one is kind of confusing to me because I kept getting, I didn't see this right away when I went through the rap part.

01:12:58.37
Bill
Then I've gotten a couple of emails and hey, check this out, share this. You've got this award as they say. There's my there's my here's my fucking quote again.

01:13:05.35
Mike
It's a major award. You should see what it looks like from out here.

01:13:10.62
Bill
But it says we are a 2025 marathon show. okay

01:13:17.32
Mike
Mmm.

01:13:18.01
Bill
here's and Here's what it says. I've read this like six times. I can't really figure out exactly. I think I know what it means, but i'm not sure. So I want to get your opinion. Fans listen to you for longer than 92% of other shows.

01:13:32.96
Bill
okay

01:13:33.21
Mike
o

01:13:34.19
Bill
I'll read that again. Fans listen to you for longer than 92% of other shows. Now, does that mean from day one until now long or does it.

01:13:40.29
Mike
Uh-huh.

01:13:45.18
Mike
No, I think, ah yeah. Well, i mean, we do a long-form podcast. So, you know, most podcasts are 20 minutes.

01:13:49.18
Bill
Right.

01:13:51.67
Mike
So, yeah, they have to listen to us longer.

01:13:56.02
Bill
Well, but you know,

01:13:56.47
Mike
There's more of us to love.

01:13:58.78
Bill
So here's the thing, though, is there there are a lot more long form. I think that you that that could be correct. I'm not saying it's not, but there there are um more long form podcasts out there than there used to be when we first started.

01:14:06.04
Mike
All right.

01:14:12.25
Mike
Sure,

01:14:12.82
Bill
I think the the formula and we've said this before, it which is so stupid.

01:14:13.02
Mike
Yeah. Right. Except

01:14:16.38
Bill
They were saying that, you know, don't don't go longer than 20 minutes or whatever the case is.

01:14:16.56
Mike
when we don't. We still

01:14:20.18
Bill
Do this, do that. And we're like, yeah i mean, to begin with, we thought, you know, we just ended up an hour and then we're like, oh, fuck it.

01:14:25.74
Mike
go longer.

01:14:26.44
Bill
I don't even remember. i think we had a guest on the one time that we just ended up going for an hour and a half. And it just it kind of felt right. We're like, well, I cut it off. if We got things to talk about. We'll we'll run longer. um But so one.

01:14:37.21
Mike
acceptable we don't

01:14:37.82
Bill
Yeah.

01:14:38.23
Mike
we snow go logger

01:14:40.22
Bill
so Yeah, I know, because I always get shit to talk about. It doesn't mean it's doesn't mean it's its it could be nonsensical as opposed to sensical.

01:14:48.08
Mike
Uh-huh.

01:14:48.23
Bill
But but so anyhow, yeah, we um one way or the other, whether it's that they've listened to us longer or to you to your point, maybe there's more of us to listen to. But still, I think if that's the case, what what you're saying, I think that's even better because that's that's more of a commitment, you know?

01:14:56.66
Mike
Yeah.

01:15:03.13
Mike
Sure.

01:15:03.80
Bill
And ah I just know it from listening to some of these other podcasts that I listen to. It's easy to listen to a half hour, half hour podcast.

01:15:10.46
Mike
Right.

01:15:10.93
Bill
You know, it's fucking simple. I mean, I listen a lot in the car or whatever, but, you know, I'm I i don't know. i I have no issue whatsoever with, you know, listening like some of these these Joe Rogan podcasts that are fucking three hours long.

01:15:22.33
Bill
I don't mind listening to it over four nights, you know, as I'm making dinner.

01:15:22.39
Mike
Right.

01:15:25.57
Bill
It doesn't bother me. It's just it's like watching it i watch TV the same way. I mean, I don't i don't care.

01:15:30.00
Mike
Right.

01:15:31.33
Bill
you know

01:15:32.15
Mike
isn it

01:15:32.70
Bill
But um one way or the other, I thought that was interesting. but so here are So the people who listen to us, it gives a list of the top five um other podcasts that that our listeners listen to.

01:15:44.88
Bill
Okay.

01:15:45.11
Mike
Okay. Yeah.

01:15:46.20
Bill
So the number one, and you remember, I've said this about this, this Joe Rogan thing. Joe Rogan is the number one podcast that our listeners listen to outside of us. Okay.

01:15:57.08
Bill
Which is, it was like that last year too. And I remember we laughed at it. We were just kind of like, why would people listen to this? Right.

01:16:02.46
Mike
Right.

01:16:03.35
Bill
um Because i can't can't imagine we're anything like Joe Rogan, but we are. you know um Or he's like us, or we're like were probably like him because he's been around longer.

01:16:07.83
Mike
Yeah.

01:16:11.35
Bill
um

01:16:11.67
Mike
Sure.

01:16:12.70
Bill
Not on purpose.

01:16:12.95
Mike
if

01:16:13.46
Bill
We're not trying to mirror Joe fucking Rogan, but um i don't he runs his commercials the same way.

01:16:14.58
Mike
Right. Yeah.

01:16:19.50
Bill
I don't think he edits. The one time when he was talking to somebody, I forget which one of these people I was listening to, he's like, oh no, he goes, this episode will be out tomorrow.

01:16:21.01
Mike
Yeah.

01:16:27.54
Bill
Don't worry about it.

01:16:27.89
Mike
Yeah, right.

01:16:28.57
Bill
you know So I think he turns them pretty quickly like we do.

01:16:31.09
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:16:31.53
Bill
um And we learned we took none of these hints from Joe fucking Rogan.

01:16:35.70
Mike
No.

01:16:36.62
Bill
We're out here doing our thing. But the way that he talks and the conversations, granted, he goes for you know three plus hours and he makes millions.

01:16:38.39
Mike
Right.

01:16:44.10
Bill
um We don't go that long. and We don't make millions.

01:16:46.39
Mike
Right.

01:16:46.42
Bill
We don't make anything. um So there's a little difference there, but but it now it makes sense now that I've listened to his podcast um of what the deal is. you know

01:16:57.02
Mike
Sure.

01:16:57.59
Bill
So that that is what is. That's the number one. The number two podcast, because this is where he pulled a lot pulled out a lot of listeners from, was Sober Speak. That's where john we had John on, not this summer, but last summer.

01:17:05.88
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right.

01:17:09.64
Bill
we So we had John on.

01:17:09.72
Mike
Right.

01:17:12.19
Bill
Sobercast, it says an unofficial Alcoholics Anonymous podcast or whatever. I don't i don't know that I've ever heard of it, maybe. of That's number three.

01:17:20.98
Mike
Okay.

01:17:22.68
Bill
The number four one is Mad Dog Recovery. It says AA Speakers.

01:17:28.28
Mike
Hmm.

01:17:29.08
Bill
Never heard of it.

01:17:30.02
Mike
Nope.

01:17:30.55
Bill
um And then there's two mics retro.

01:17:34.89
Mike
Uh-huh.

01:17:35.64
Bill
I was interested. I might have to look that up and see what that is. And if it if it's something cool, maybe I'll have to change my name to Mike so we could be two mics. Who knows?

01:17:43.86
Mike
Ah.

01:17:45.69
Bill
But.

01:17:45.69
Mike
Well, I've already got Joe Rogan's haircut, so we got that going for us.

01:17:46.31
Bill
Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Yes, you do. And you know what?

01:17:52.89
Mike
Yes.

01:17:53.45
Bill
We're i'm I'm the same age as him. He just said that he was talking to. um Do you like Mike Rowe?

01:17:59.00
Mike
red

01:18:01.37
Bill
No, no. okay

01:18:02.39
Mike
ah Not particularly, no.

01:18:04.54
Bill
Okay. So, I mean, I've always, i I think he's interesting at dirty jobs. I remember watching that.

01:18:08.92
Mike
Right.

01:18:08.98
Bill
He narrates a ton of shit. um I think he's got a very, ah he's got a ah very soothing voice.

01:18:10.58
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:18:14.49
Bill
I mean, very good voice for narrating shit, but it was a really interesting conversation all over the place with different stuff.

01:18:15.00
Mike
Sure.

01:18:20.01
Bill
But, but so yeah, he was on, but he was talking with the one thing that he was talking about, which maybe just, I, I made a note of this was, um When he was doing um dirty jobs, and again, it made me think of, you know, because Rogan's talking about that it doesn't sound like they edit, but they were talking about um authenticity and going into a conversation about how people in certain professions sounding the same, newscasters, lawyers, radio people, all those sort of things.

01:18:46.87
Mike
Right.

01:18:47.20
Bill
And then Mike Rose said when he was doing dirty jobs, um he left in all the all the fumbles, you know, in the show.

01:18:52.54
Mike
Yeah.

01:18:52.96
Bill
That was one of the things he he left in. If a um if they were out doing something and an airplane flew over a helicopter or a microphone dropped or something like that, he wouldn't let them cut those things.

01:19:00.49
Mike
Right.

01:19:04.63
Bill
He didn't. He wanted to he wanted to keep it real and keep it authentic.

01:19:07.48
Mike
Sure. Mm-hmm.

01:19:07.99
Bill
And Rogan said the same thing. um And basically um they said that Rogan just started off wanting to have conversations and not wanting to be like everyone else, you know?

01:19:17.03
Mike
Right.

01:19:17.87
Bill
And I'm like, Jesus Christ, that's kind of what kind of what we did, you know?

01:19:19.69
Mike
Yeah.

01:19:21.38
Bill
But I just thought it was that was one of the most interesting things with you know with Mike Rowe that they had in talking about that. um You know, it was just that same mindset with not having, mean, granted it was dirty jobs, you know, and they were doing what they did and it was all completely something that had never been done before.

01:19:36.26
Bill
But I don't know.

01:19:36.59
Mike
Mm

01:19:37.66
Bill
It just wasn't they weren't looking at being all clean and polished. And I don't know. It just I like that because that's once again, that's that's what we that's what we do, you know, or what we don't do.

01:19:47.34
Mike
Yeah, right. Yeah, good exactly. Aspire to or something. Right, exactly.

01:19:52.31
Bill
hey

01:19:52.33
Mike
Yes, well, authenticity has its own merits. Absolutely. I think we're proof of that.

01:19:58.81
Bill
Right. Well, it's, ah it was, it was funny too. The, uh, the guy that I had sent you the information on that we're just trying to finalize, um, and God, and again, for the life of me, ah the the person I'm dealing with, I don't know what his relation is, but his, his name is Ryan, but that's not the guy we're going to speak to.

01:20:12.85
Bill
Um, but, uh, so we were going back and forth on a couple of things and, um, the like two emails ago, he's like, uh, he goes, okay, you know, this is the date, whatever it was, I think it's January, whatever I said, January 16th, I think is when, when it's going to be.

01:20:12.98
Mike
Right.

01:20:26.03
Bill
i I don't think I shared that with you completely yet because it's not set. um

01:20:29.51
Mike
Right.

01:20:30.71
Bill
But then he's like, oh, he goes, I'm go in in the email. He said, I'm guessing Zoom is cool, you know, but just let me know and blah, blah, blah.

01:20:35.41
Mike
Right.

01:20:36.71
Bill
And I emailed back and I just wanted to be like, I have felt so fucking hoity, almost like some, like I'm fucking highbrow, you know, but up I'm like, I got to do, i what I wanted to say was, what are you use fucking Zoom?

01:20:41.53
Mike
Right. aha

01:20:47.23
Bill
He's this, he's this fucking garbage.

01:20:49.53
Mike
right

01:20:49.69
Bill
Well, it's, and seeing as ours took a shit last, last week, but yeah,

01:20:53.72
Mike
right

01:20:54.97
Bill
But then, you know, i said, I said, no, I said, we don't, we don't use zoom. Told him what we use. I said, you know, it's, uh, audio is better. And, uh, you know, this is what we, uh, what we use, blah, blah, blah. gave me the name of it. And then he had emailed back today and said, uh, he goes, okay, perfect.

01:21:07.50
Bill
Sounds good. Um, he said, but just, you know, let me know too. He goes, is it, is it audio or is audio only? Or do we do video? And the same thing, I i wanted to go back and I felt kind of, again, kind of fucking high, brother.

01:21:18.18
Bill
We don't do this goddamn video shit.

01:21:18.57
Mike
Yeah.

01:21:20.79
Bill
But I just, said I just emailed back and I'm like, you know, we're kind of old school. We do the audio. And, you know, I said, I said, I think we're one of the, you know, one of the the limited number of podcasts out there that hasn't, you know, ah submitted or, or gotten drawn in by the video.

01:21:33.63
Bill
And I said, we have no intention of doing it it, you know?

01:21:35.77
Mike
Right.

01:21:36.95
Bill
um Again, I'll say it again, and I think i think you agree. i think i I think I use this as a we. If somebody backs up a truckload of money and they're like, do what you do, but we want we we need this on video.

01:21:45.38
Mike
Yeah.

01:21:48.60
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:21:49.21
Bill
If they back up a truckload of money and they pay us to be on video, we're going to be on fucking video.

01:21:51.06
Mike
Yep.

01:21:53.75
Mike
Absolutely.

01:21:54.07
Bill
we we Mike and I have to say...

01:21:56.92
Mike
We have a price. yeah Yeah, we could be bought.

01:21:57.97
Bill
yeah yeah

01:21:59.36
Mike
Absolutely. Buy us. We're filthy little whores.

01:22:03.61
Bill
Right. It's not a, it's more than 20 bucks. I was going to say, you know, it's, it's, it's the same concept as 20 bucks is 20 bucks, but it's going to be more than 20 bucks.

01:22:11.50
Mike
Mm-hmm. Yes, it is.

01:22:13.21
Bill
But yeah, we, we, we don't know yet what our price is, but yes, we, we do. I, I, we, we, we,

01:22:18.14
Mike
We have one. It's there. Trust us.

01:22:21.94
Bill
it is It is definitely there. We just, we just went whatever. We're going to let people let people you know kind of kind of ease into it and they'll let let somebody else find our price.

01:22:29.53
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:22:31.18
Bill
Oh, that that price sounds lovely.

01:22:32.60
Mike
Yes, that'll work.

01:22:35.54
Bill
But yeah, so anyhow, but um I don't know. It's just the, again, the the Spotify stuff, you know it it kind of is what it is. I mean, we've had we've had growth, which is which is wonderful.

01:22:45.85
Bill
um you know And the the funny part too is that You know, like it put, it it said we had more comments than we than we have or had the year before, and I forget what percentage it was, but I didn't i didn't make a copy of that because I think the the only one is we've had, had Kathy comments every once in a while, um and I think we we if we went from one to to four, we'd

01:23:09.85
Mike
Yes. We've quadrupled our comments.

01:23:13.88
Bill
Right. You know, so it's, again, that's, that that would be, be a little bit, I, it wouldn't be a true figure, you know, cause we went, we went from one to four.

01:23:14.58
Mike
Yes.

01:23:24.32
Mike
Yep.

01:23:26.52
Bill
Yeah, but anyhow, I don't know. We've we've had a little bit of growth, which is which is nice. And don't know, i like we've said before, I mean, if ah as long as as long as we're doing you know doing some things around here and hopefully doing some good or or whatever whatever whatever the thing is that we're doing, then yeah whatever this this is, I guess we'll keep doing it, right?

01:23:29.91
Mike
Yes.

01:23:41.37
Mike
Whatever this is.

01:23:44.95
Mike
Yes, we will.

01:23:46.65
Bill
All right, so um I got one one one last thing here. So i since i've since I've been here, and obviously back in, well, not obviously, but since I had my the procedure done, the first one, and now ah the second one, I mean, i'm I'm making a conscious effort of walking a lot.

01:23:59.11
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right.

01:24:02.07
Bill
you know And I do it in in short amounts.

01:24:02.39
Mike
Yes.

01:24:04.55
Bill
I do usually usually five or at the most a a seven to 10 minute walk. i don't I'm not a 30 minute walking person unless I'm out on a hike. um I just don't see the point.

01:24:11.65
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:24:12.59
Bill
you know But I could do it on my breaks and whatever the case is.

01:24:13.35
Mike
Right.

01:24:15.87
Bill
So the way this condo is set up, I mean, there's, um, there's walkways out in front of all the doors. So all the doors face the parking lot, all the balconies obviously face the water. Um, you know, so I can walk between these two buildings.

01:24:25.08
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:24:27.51
Bill
It's this long walk and go down to the next level or up to the next level. And I can do, um, you know, like a back and forth, back and forth. And that's about five minutes. So I could do that on a break.

01:24:37.80
Bill
If I want to walk longer, I can and whatever. So, I've been again, anytime I can, when I've got the time, I'm doing the, I'm doing these walks and it's, it's obviously I'm guessing good for me.

01:24:46.23
Mike
Mm-hmm. Yeah.

01:24:48.93
Bill
So, um, this yesterday, yesterday morning, um, yeah, it was yesterday morning.

01:24:49.02
Mike
yeah

01:24:54.65
Bill
I was like seven o'clock in the morning. I'd, you know, gotten on the shower, did the whole bit. I just went to make my coffee, was going to come back in and I usually make my lunch after that. but I'm like, I'll go take a quick walk. So I walk up to the, to the next level I'm walking down and I'm almost to the middle part between the two buildings where there's a stairwell that goes, that goes up.

01:25:13.69
Bill
It's not closed. It's kind of an open stairwell. But, um, you know, as you're, as you're walking up, you can kind of see the opening, but not the stairs.

01:25:15.84
Mike
Uh-huh. Uh-huh.

01:25:20.41
Bill
So I'm walking and I'm probably, I don't know, 20 or 30 feet from the stairwell and, you know, just walking through and I see a ah dog come down the walkway, just the dog.

01:25:31.78
Bill
Right. And it's a fucking Rottweiler. And it's every bit of a hundred. if I mean, I, I know what a hundred pound dog looks like. Um, you know, and it's, if it's not a hundred, it's a, it's one 20, it's a big fucking dog and it's a Rottweiler.

01:25:40.30
Mike
Right.

01:25:44.63
Mike
Right.

01:25:45.43
Bill
And I'm like, I just stopped, you know, because well, what do you do?

01:25:45.43
Mike
is this

01:25:48.85
Mike
Yeah, right.

01:25:49.96
Bill
And, um, this dog, just this dog stops too. And not growling, not looking mean, no ears down or anything like that.

01:25:55.51
Mike
ah Right.

01:25:57.32
Bill
Just look at him just standing there. And I mean, this seems like a long time. It's probably about 10 seconds.

01:26:01.82
Mike
Right. Right.

01:26:02.54
Bill
Um, but it seems like a long time and nobody's coming down the stairs after, after this dog. And I'm up on theoretically the fourth floor. Um, but I mean, technically up two levels from where the ground is, but I mean, as I'm not even thinking about this at the moment, but after the fact, I'm like, i don't know fuck I want to went.

01:26:19.34
Bill
Um, and, um, you know, finally this lady comes walking down and my, she's like, Oh, don't worry about him.

01:26:19.62
Mike
Right.

01:26:26.00
Bill
He's nice. And in my head, I'm like, listen, you fucking whore, you know, you need to put your dog in a fucking leash, you know?

01:26:27.23
Mike
Uh huh. Right. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Right.

01:26:33.24
Bill
Um, because I'm like, you can't just have a fucking dog running around like this. i don't care what it's a goddamn Rottweiler. Right.

01:26:38.45
Mike
huh.

01:26:38.52
Bill
or any, of any big dog that he's not a shit suit, you know?

01:26:41.34
Mike
right

01:26:41.75
Bill
I mean, I can, I can step on one of those, but I'm like, you know, didn't say it.

01:26:43.61
Mike
yeah right

01:26:45.72
Bill
She's kind of cute. And i'm like, yeah, whatever.

01:26:47.19
Mike
ah

01:26:47.72
Bill
Um, but I mean, first I'm like, I'm like, okay. I'm like, Hey, I'm, I'm all about dogs. I said, most dogs like me, but I said, I'll tell you, I said it, it, you know, shook me a little bit, you know, just walking along and this big dog comes, comes walking there.

01:26:54.14
Mike
Yeah.

01:26:58.36
Mike
Yeah.

01:27:00.65
Bill
I'm like, he didn't do anything. He didn't growl or anything like she she's like now she's like, he's barely awake. He just got up.

01:27:05.78
Mike
Okay.

01:27:05.87
Bill
Um, then she's like, come on, whatever his name is, is a boy, you know, is and he just turns around he walks.

01:27:09.47
Mike
looses

01:27:12.27
Bill
So I'm like, I'm like, well, I said, i said, I'm awake now. And she just starts laughing. So I walked down and then I'm down on the next level and he sees me still. And now he's now he's kind of playful. He's welcome in the parking lot.

01:27:22.83
Bill
You know, he had went to the bathroom, I guess, and then came over. so he's just barking like, profile I'm like, well, I guess I got his attention now. But I'm just like, Jesus fucking Christ, goddamn fucking Rottweiler, you know? Um, again, nothing happened or anything like that, but I'm like, like, I just, I just got all this shit fixed. Right.

01:27:39.67
Mike
right

01:27:41.11
Bill
i I don't need to get fucked up by a dog. I mean, ever, ever, but I mean, ah he seemed like, seemed like a sweetheart, you know, but again,

01:27:43.80
Mike
right yes yeah i mean yeah every roddy i've ever known was a sweetheart yeah they're big mean and you know they'll fuck you up if you're messing with their people but yeah they're they're sweet dogs

01:27:57.52
Bill
Right. Well, you know what, that in Rottweilers pit bulls, well, um Bentley is has got a little pit in them.

01:28:05.43
Mike
Yeah, right.

01:28:05.56
Bill
um You know, i mean, ah ah i think a small portion of them, but i mean, you can see it once you know, you're kind of like, oh he's got some badass in him, you know.

01:28:10.53
Mike
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

01:28:12.60
Bill
um But all those dogs, it it really depends on, just like anything else, like people, you know, how were they how were they trained?

01:28:17.53
Mike
Right. Yep. Yep.

01:28:20.16
Bill
um Did i ever tell you about when I was working with True Green when I got charged by a Rottweiler?

01:28:25.29
Mike
Uh-uh.

01:28:26.04
Bill
This, yeah, this was not, this wasn't a kind one. This was in an area of Milwaukee that they, they finally, um, we stopped going into because nobody paid their fucking bills, you know? So there's small, small little, like, like lawns about your, so your size, like your front yard size, smaller in your backyard.

01:28:35.35
Mike
Right.

01:28:40.85
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:28:42.08
Bill
But what mom used to call the postage stamp lawns in, in Milwaukee, but it's not a great area town.

01:28:45.18
Mike
Right.

01:28:49.76
Bill
So it's in the summertime and it's getting to the point and we used to go in the in the height of summer until probably, you know, eight o'clock at night because it was still light out.

01:28:57.84
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:28:58.36
Bill
And but it was getting that point where it's just, you know, the sun's come down a little bit and it's it's not dark, but you know how it is, you know, just a little bit, just this nice, peaceful summer night. And I'm walking through this neighborhood and what they told us to do is like it, like your house, you've got a front door and you've got a side door.

01:29:07.65
Mike
Right.

01:29:14.11
Bill
They used to always say, go to the side door because, you know, most of the time people use their side door and more, it's just easier and more people are apt to answer.

01:29:18.65
Mike
Right.

01:29:23.15
Bill
So I turned into this driveway and there's ah a attached garage kind of like back where you're, if you, if you had a garage, it was like to the back of your house, not way in the backyard, but just to the back part of your house.

01:29:23.46
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:29:32.56
Mike
Mm-hmm. Right.

01:29:34.71
Bill
So that's about where it is compared to your, where your door is.

01:29:34.82
Mike
Mm-hmm.

01:29:37.91
Bill
So i'm walking down the driveway and again, same, you know, like driveways you have. And it's kind of dark in the garage, you know, because again, that time of day, I didn't even couldn't even really pay attention or see.

01:29:42.33
Mike
Right.

01:29:48.90
Bill
And I start to see this dog come and I'm i'm talking hauling fucking ass out of this garage. And it's a Rottweiler. And again, every bit of a hundred, one 20, one 10, whatever the fuck it was, big dog and hauling ass at me.

01:30:01.21
Mike
Okay.

01:30:02.86
Bill
And I'm in shorts and I'm in a fucking polo shirt and I've got this plastic, um, you know, like, uh, don't know what you call It's we had like flyers inside.

01:30:13.56
Bill
It was like a plastic notebook type of thing, but hard plastic. They used to always tell us so like, Hey, if a dog comes at you, just swing that fucking thing and, you know, hit them. And I'm like, I don't think that would have taken care of this dog.

01:30:24.14
Bill
Right.

01:30:24.34
Mike
Right.

01:30:25.14
Bill
So this dog gets out and he he's running, running, running. I'm just like standing still. I mean, again, this happened so quickly. Well, it was on a chain and I didn't know it. So the chain hit it and literally is like, yipe!

01:30:37.28
Bill
And it took it out and then legs right out from under it and fell flat on its back.

01:30:40.51
Mike
Mm-hmm. Nice.

01:30:42.14
Bill
And I just turned around and walked away.

01:30:44.76
Mike
hey Yep.

01:30:46.71
Bill
And I'm like, Jesus fucking Christ. I'm like, now that, that was a Rottweiler that wasn't, well, probably to them it was trained properly. But yeah, he was out to fucking kill me.

01:30:54.78
Mike
Uh-huh.

01:30:56.49
Bill
He was out to out out to fucking, he was going fuck me up. So I didn't want that. But anyhow, anyhow, so um I think that's the that's the end of my thank you for joining us for Rottweiler stories.

01:31:02.86
Mike
Right.

01:31:08.37
Mike
Yeah, I'm done.

01:31:09.62
Bill
If you have a Rottweiler story, it's info. It's sober. That would cheer deck out.

01:31:13.88
Mike
he

01:31:15.13
Bill
yeah I fucking I think we're done. You done?

01:31:19.48
Mike
um yeah i'm done

01:31:20.41
Bill
All right, man, your turn.

01:31:22.65
Mike
All right. Well, thank you everyone for listening to yet another episode, 199 of them, of Sober Not Mature. it's always, be kind to each other, good to each other, go out and do something nice for somebody else this week and don't tell anybody you did it.

Mike

01:31:52.50
Mike

01:32:14.36
Bill
He just fucking peeked out the bottom. clay who that

01:32:17.78
Mike
he

01:32:19.29
Bill
I don't know why that makes me laugh every fucking time, but it really, really does.

01:32:23.48
Mike
That's keep doing it.

01:32:23.54
Bill
Okay. like Last thing. So what's the last time you thought about quicksand? Did you hear about that hiker that got stuck in quicksand? And, uh, I didn't know where, didn't even know where it was.

01:32:30.17
Mike
I did not. I'm not on the hikers newsletter like you are.

01:32:33.11
Bill
Yeah. You know, and that's probably what it is. Some fucking article that came across. But yeah, some dude was out in either Utah or California, wherever it was. Just this this season hiker and then ended up was on ah on a hiking trail.

01:32:45.14
Bill
Ended up to us in his fucking waist in fucking quicksand.

01:32:48.09
Mike
Nice.

01:32:48.78
Bill
I'm like, we used to see that like goddamn Batman in the 70s.

01:32:51.86
Mike
Right.

01:32:52.42
Bill
I didn't know it was fucking real.

01:32:53.04
Mike
Gilligan's Island and shit.

01:32:53.84
Bill

01:32:57.30
Bill

01:33:04.44
Mike

01:33:04.87
Bill
Goddamn, goddamn fucking quicksand.

01:33:05.40
Mike

01:33:06.74

01:33:07.38

01:33:07.86
Bill
All right. Well, um I think I love you, brother.
