And here's a look ahead at the sky. The Geminid meteor shower peaks tonight, often the year's best show. Up to one hundred and twenty meteors per hour are possible under dark skies. The evening sky features two gas giants. Jupiter rises in the east after sunset. You can't miss its brilliant white glow. Saturn is dimmer but unmistakable in the southwest, setting a few hours after dark. No moon tonight means dark skies all night long. This is prime time for spotting the Milky Way. If you can get away from city lights.
