Let's Rave! A Summary of Episode 31 With Heather

Heather joined us in the studio and absolutely crushed her interview. This was after she reported she was nervous and thought she was going to "puke." We were hospitable and did offer her the trash can in case there was any vomit trying to escape her stomach, but her anxiety and angst subsided and there was no reason to contain any regurgitation.

Man, just thinking about vomit takes me back to my days abusing alcohol. I got the nickname "Durst (after Fred Durst, lead singer of Limp Bizkit)" for how loud I would throw up after a night of drinking too much. *shivers* Anyway, Heather and I discussed her upbringing and how she was devastated by the divorce of her parents as an adolescent. After her home, the only one she knew, was broken in two, she found comfort in dance, raves, and later, drugs.

The first time I ever used, I was 16 years old. I didn't use again until I was 18 years old... I went to raves for about a year without using, then it just kind of happened... People don't want to go to a warehouse and kick up asbestos... My first drug was ecstasy... Rubbing Vicks on their facemask; those who know, know.

She shared sacred moments from her life and how devastating the divorce truly was. Even though she was going to raves and began using ecstasy, she found a family in the rave scene to cope with her world that was turned upside down.

I lived out of a suitcase for the longest time going to one person's house one week and the other person's house the next week. So, I never really found a place that was mine. That's when I found raves.

Heather shared moments from her life that may have made her feel vulnerable, but from a place of courage, she may have inspired someone listening to reach out for help or someone to enhance their spiritual journey of their own.
