The Globalist Carbon Footprint Agenda: NYC Mayor is Targeting Food on Your Plate

New York Mayor Eric Adams wants to target your food with new carbon emissions controls.

According to Rohit Aggarwal, the city's commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection, New York City will start tracking food emissions.

Subsequently, the Mayor’s Office of Climate & Environmental Justice (MOCEJ) developed an "integrated greenhouse gas inventory" for measuring food emissions. It will track emissions from food production, whether production occurred in New York City or elsewhere.

Products targeted include dairy products, meats, eggs, fish, and poultry. Interestingly, Mayor Adams strongly advocates a plant-based diet (vegan).

“We already know that a plant-powered diet is better for your physical and mental health, and I am living proof of that," the mayor said during the report launch.

"It is easy to talk about the emissions that's coming from buildings and how it impacts our environment, but we now have to talk about beef."

According to the city, food was the third largest (20%) emitter after transportation (21%) and buildings (35%).

Subsequently, Mayor’s Office of Food Policy (MOFP) Executive Director Kate MacKenzie said the city plans to reduce emissions from food consumption across its agencies by 33% by 2030.

“In working to combat the climate crisis we’ve faced, for too long, we’ve looked only to the cars we drive and the buildings in which we live, with too little attention paid to what’s right in front of us: The food on our plates,” said MacKenzie.

According to Deputy Mayor for Health and Human Services Anne Williams-Isom, NYC Health + Hospitals will serve over 750,000 plant-based meals this year, reducing emissions by 36%.

Meanwhile, the city has also requested private sector organizations, nonprofits, and institutions to reduce food emissions by 25%.

The city will work with Coolfood and Greener by Default to help these entities get on track.

However, it will formalize this procedure in another climate action plan to be released.

Soon, these organizations could be forced to work with strict quotas or pay hefty fines to offset their emissions.

The new climate action targeting domestic emissions follows New York City's ratification of the C40 Good Food Cities Declaration alongside 13 other cities worldwide. C40 is a movement of 100 mayors working to confront the "climate crisis."

While only a few cities have signed the declaration, the movement will keep growing, entrenching the globalist carbon footprint agenda in almost all areas of our lives.

Additionally, the food carbon footprint inventory is the first step towards introducing new carbon taxes targeting food producers that will eventually be paid for by consumers.

Mayor Adam’s obsession with beef's carbon footprint is misguided, given agriculture’s low carbon footprint and other bigger problems in NYC, such as rats and crime.

According to the National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA) president of Government Affairs Ethan Lane, beef was responsible for only 2% of emissions across the United States, while all agriculture, including Adam's vegan diet, was responsible for only 11%.

“Mayor Adams will get some media coverage by besmirching beef’s good name, but we hope the next time he cites accurate information,” he said.
