00 It's still welcome everybody. Welcome to this week's edition The Star Real Do Show, episode number seven hundred and sixty six for October seventeenth, twenty twenty four. Welcome to this week's edition of Ask Our Team You. I am one after the show, I am Jeff Pack joined every single week from my paste Only, Doctor Trey Franklin. Doctor Trey, did you reach your own Wressell dream?

40 My friend? Oh man, I wish i'd know. You're like, there's a really dirty joke I want to leave in there. And I don't know if I want to say it or not, but uh yeah, I mean five and a half hours of Wressell dream. At least it didn't end up wet. I guess, I don't know. Yeah, very true. It did not end up in the ocean. That's what I assumed doctor Trey is talking about. Welcome one and all to this week's edition of SRTU. Let's get right into it. Doctor Trey was this past Saturday from Tacoma Dome and Tacoma, Washington, aaw Wrestle Dream recap and review. I hate to point this out, but I will. To me, it was very noticeable that they had tarped off a couple of the seats, Doctor Trey. I mean, I think there was a shot in the corner of the building where you could see the black curtain that was blocking the upper deck that was not filled. Again, this trend of attendance for aw is not great, even for a pay per view.

37 Yeah, and you would think with it being where it was, and with who's on the card and everything else, like they get a little closer to the capacity, that this might be one of those things where like, and I think we've talked about the past, like maybe you step back and go into some smaller venues just to kind of create that energy that you kind of feel like you're lacking when you're in a bigger arena. You're not packing it out. Maybe take a page out of the nxt BO book and just go, hey, we can't fill out ten thousand in this stadium. Maybe we go down to five thousand states, you know, five thousand sex stadiums. But yeah, it's noticable, especially for people that look for this stuff. Like when you start seeing the curtains or the tarps, you're just like, guys, that just it makes it feel like you're just you know, kind of drowning for lack of a better turn.

24 Yeah, there's gonna be some stubbornness that's gone on with all the rest that may peek up and down here throughout the recap and this week's edition of the show, because I'm like getting old school Vince mc mann vibes from some of the management in AW lately in the sense of stubbornness, not all the other crap. Let's get to the first match here, as Brian Cage defeats Atlantis Junior to win the ROH World Television Championship. We both had Atlantis Junior in this one. This was a surprisingly fun match that folks should check out if they haven't already. I only say that because I don't know much about Atlantis Junior and that was a fun one. Yeah. I mean I thought Atlantis Junior. I think at last I thought he was a casino. Then this week I thought he was the son of Alanis Morisset, but neither one is correct. He's actually a fantastic little wrestler and matches like this make you kind of remember how good Brian Cage can be at times. Just a fun match and give her Brian Cage. And then we saw a little transition for Brian Cage on Dynamite this week, ending up in the Don Kallas family, so hey, maybe, and then announcing that he just won. He wins a singles title, but him and Archer after tag team titles now too, So a little confusing on that, but hey, good for him that they're actually gonna use him a little bit, because this is a guy that was a former t and a world champion and has been has fallen by the wayside since then.

39 Yeah, that's part of the creative issues that I have with a w don Kallas family comes out Brian Cage is with him, even commentaries like well this is surprise Don KALs saying breaking news. Would like to see something maybe at the pay per view backstage vignette instead of just coming out there and saying, yeah, he's with the family now, like some sort of backstory as to he's there and what's what's his association with now the former Cage of Agony. Are they still together? Still friends? It's kind of weird. And a j defeats Harley Cameron. We did not predict this one. Harley Cameron's had some really good offense and looks to be a solid entering worker and a J has really improved since returning from stardom. Do't trade your thoughts on this one.

21 Yeah, that was my big takeaway was I can't remember who was I saw online. I commented on how much she had improved since coming back for you them, I've been Osprey saying how much Anna J had gotten better. He did say that from Japan you can catch Yeah, so's she's really stepped your game of Harley Cameron. She's enjoyable. To me, this was like I looked, I watched his match, I went, this is gonna be a five and a half hour show because there's no need for this match to be on this show. But hey, it's a good showcase for Ana J and Harley on the stage at least. But you could have put this. Match on collision or rampage and saved me fifteen minutes. Do you claim defeats MXM col election? We both had the acclaiming this one. Is it weird to see a WWE develop gimmick get rebooted in aw with MXM Collection and then Rico working together as well. Does it also feel like the Acclaimed need a fresh coat of paint or refresh Maybe that was tease Doctor tre on Wednesday, as MVP hands Max cast the card tries to recruit the acclaimed, Anthony Bowen says, no, Max Casser, how does interest piqued a little bit your thoughts on this one?

29 Yeah, I mean it's interesting. I love that XM is really getting a chance to kind of showcase their stuff on AD because I thought this woul could you know, by the end of their run in WWE, I thought this could have been the updated version of Billy and Chuck, and seeing Rico paired with him at Wrestled Dream I thought was fantastic. The tie into Billy makes sense. It's one of those things where like every now then you see a gimmick that you're like, man, this has potential, but it just never fully comes to fruition. I I really enjoyed mxim so And does the acclaim need a fresh coot of paint? Maybe not. This is a little bit taken from maybe what they were doing with the street profits in with you know, Lashly and all that stuff like teasing a little friction, but it never comes to pass.

17 So, uh, fresh coat of pain. I don't think they need a fresh coat of paint. I just think they need to get booked better because one month they're feuding with the Bucks for the World Tag Team titles, and then they're you know, basically opening shows and pre shows and everything else a month later. So it's just it's weird the the pecking order booking of AW at times, and I think that's why we get frustrated. All right, Doctor Trey. The next one here is Orange Cassidy, Kyle O'Riley and the Outrunners defeating the Dark Order in the Premiere Athletes and an eight man tag team match. We did not predict this one. Uh. The Premier Athlete stick of asking the crowd not to say stuck sucks when they want them to say Premier Athletes rule is very corny. Uh. The Outrunners are so much fun and need to be pushed more as the crowd is digging them.

01 It reminds me of the ascension of the Acclaim when they started a breakthrough in AW as well. Those were kind of my notes on this one, Dot Trey, your thoughts, Yeah. My notes were basically, once again, here's a match that really had no bill to it. We're putting it on the show. It's an hate man tag. Do we really need this on Wrestle Dream or can we say this or something else? The outrunners are super over with the crowd. I don't hate the Premier Athlete stick because I do it. It's really easy to do. It's really easy to get some heat on it. But once again, just going off of what we saw at this show and then what you see on Dynamite, the Dark Order here are booked as heels, but yet they're coming to the defense of AW on Dynamite a few days later, like have Like this just illustrates once again, like guys have a plan when you're doing stuff like this and go, hey, they were just bad guys three days ago. Now we're featuring them as good guys here coming to save a like for one.

02 Here's the thing. I'm just glad they remember who the Dark Order was and put them on the show because I love Redolds and Silver. I think they've been the most underutilized tandem and AW for five years now, so I just wish they would use it more and in better positions. I'm glad you brought that up, because yes, on Wednesday, they're acting as baby faces. On Saturday Night they're acting as heels. Sidebar if you saw dynamite Doctor Tred. Did you see John Silver chase the Blackpool Combat Club pickup truck and the crowd laugh? Yeah, because for one can he could he even get inside the truck? I mean, I love Silver Bay's a little short. Yeah, that was That was strange. All right. Now let's get to the main card here. J White defeats Hangman Adam Page. We both had Adam Page in this one.

48 J White needed this win over Hangman to re establish himself as a world title contender in AW. I love that they focus on Hangman's knee and it played a big role in the decision for this match. This is the type of match that AW needs have a competitive top of the men's card, so they have a top of a competitive top of the men's roster card. This was a great opener, Dog Tree, your thoughts here is j whit to feed teng Man on a Page? A great match, great opener. J White needed to win. These are all things you said. Really enjoy the match. I do like that it kind of you know, it was Hangman's knee that kind of did a man and not some you know, chicanery, some kind of dirty tricks.

29 My only issue with this is Swerve is scheduled to appear on this show at this point. Correct, Oh yeah, yeah, absolutely is. And here's the man that burnt down your house and dropped your head on a cinder block, and you're not coming out for this match. Like that drives me nuts because like once again, like you're basically the baby Faces basis saying that guy whopped my ass and burnt my house down, I got nothing new with him that. It just stuff like that makes no sense to me. So great match, It's just I wouldn't even have Swerve appear at Wrestl Dream. I would save him for Dynamite just for that reason, because to me, if I'm sore, strickling and that man burnt down my house and dropping my head on a cinder block, I'm still coming for revenge if I know he's in the building.

19 And they didn't do any of that. So that was my one knock on this match. Yeah, that was something I noticed, is like all I could think of was on Dynamite when they did the backstage segment with Nana and and Swerve and then send him the match for Shelton Benjamin in two weeks, I was like, how is he not going after Hangman right now, like, how do we in a normal sense do we just like forget Okay, I lost, I took the l I'm gonna go into retreat mode. I mean that's not good for a babyface in a from you know, go they don't. They're not gonna get the revenge against the heel, so they're just are they pausing this this feud? I mean it just that that blue my mind, Doctor Trey. So it's funny that you brought that up. Something that found funny as well on Dynamite. I don't know if you noticed this during the main event match Jay White taking on Christian which he lost. Jay White, but at some point Kip Saban comes up on the apron and you hear Christian Sell say not now fuck And at that point Hangman came down to do the spot. So the trigger must have been in that match. I'm gonna go in the corner, do the spear, you get up on the apron. Once you go up on the apron, that's gonna be the trigger for hang Matt Out in Page to come down. Kip Sabing like retreats hang out on Page hides and then they run the angle as the way it was supposed to be their spot, like three to five minutes later. But it's funny you broughtup the swerve of strickling stuff. And I hate to call out botches,

49 but I actually found that botch on Wednesday night very funny. So I I hate sometimes we call out botches because like stuff like that, when you're you're basically doing looking for a physical queue. I actually had the same thing happened my first match back after my foot surgery at Spartan Jims're Wrestling, where we had called for me to interfere in the match towards the finish, and it was like, hey, when the guy goes to top rope jump up, he's you know, Barry's gonna distract the ref. You push him off. Well, the guy with the top rope to. Do a different move, and I didn't know he was doing something else, so I end up doing the same thing. I jumped up too early. I ended the match way too soon. So stuff like that where you're like, hey, I'm gonna go to the corner for the spear, you might go to the corner thinking for something else, but the guy who's looking for the physical queue doesn't know that and it throws the timing off. It's just weird that we've had two kind of big mistiming things in the last two. Like last couple weeks we saw it with Raquel Rodriguezrie Ripley lived Morgan match a couple of weeks ago, we see it on Dynamite.

57 It's like, yeah, it is really kind of hot. Shows you how hard it is sometimes to do the timing on these things to get him just right. And how many times do we not say anything because it came off perfectly. So it's just like those rare occasions where the timing is off U something like that just makes it look horrible. Uh So I don't get mad. I can't hate on those guys. But it was funny when Christian we see Christian go not now fuck all right, shit, let's make it work. So that is kind of funny. Though. Yeah, I don't like calling out Botch as well. I just thought it was a very very funny, honest reaction. Next match here is Marian Made defeating Willow Knight and Gale will retain the aw Women's World Championship. We both in Maria, Maine. This one it feels like the aw AW Women's World Championship and Ryan Mayer and a holding pattern until Tony Storm returns television, which I imagine as soon.

46 Will is a great opponent from Marie, but I wish aw would pull the trigger on her and give a Night and Gale an opportunity to run as the AW Women's World Champion, because she really deserves it based on her organic climb in aw Dutch trait your thoughts on this. One, Yeah, I'm. I don't know how I feel about Willow, like I like her and like the few with Statlander, I felt went a little long, and then she's just cast in this role all of a sudden, Like I mean, she is still the CML Women's Champion, so she has some credibility, but it just feels like when you got you know, a Soriah, you have Jamie Hayter making her return, you have all these other women that we featured. To me, I still feel like right now the Women's World title is secondary to the TBS Championship, just based on who holds these belts.

32 I think that kind of. Hog ties the division, so to speak, Like the TBS title should be like your Intercontinental Women's Championship, And I just kind of feel like the two champs are cast in different spots right now. But the match yourself was fine, and I like Mariah May, I like Willow Nightingale. I just for some reason, like this just didn't connect with me. Yeah, it didn't connect with me either. It was uh, it was strange booking, and it's just been strange but lately for the women's division. Jack Perry defeats Katuro Shabada to retaining the AWT and T Championship with Jack Perry in this one, I thought it was an awful finish and bad booking. I don't know if that was done to protect Shabata, because it made no sense. He has the choke hold Autumn. Jack Perry does the smart thing, leans back bridges one, two three. They did not follow that up on Wednesday's Dynamite, which I thought was strange because if you're Shabada, wouldn't you be like I had you and we should be having a rematch. The post match stuff with Daniel Garcia making the save to confront Jack Perry made sense. The postmatch stuff with MJF confronting and taking out Daniel Garcia made sense. The postmatch stuff with Adam Cole returning walking out of the Babyface tunnel, making the safe for Daniel Garcia and attacking MJF made no sense at all and is why I have issues with AW creative. The last time we saw Adam Cole, he was a hill being taken out by a returning Babyface MJF. That made sense because it was the first time they saw each other since World's End. This stuff made no sense at all, and it's hard to make sense of unless Adam Cole turns here heel relatively soon.

01 Doctor Tray lots to unpack here. Jack Perry defeats Kato or Shabbata. Yeah, so what I didn't know that much about New Japan. All I'd heard about was what a badass Shabbata was. And then unfortunately he got hurt, had take time off, and now he's back and I don't think the AW has done him any favors in his booking since he's returned. He had the Pure Championship for a little while. Outside of that, I like, this guy was supposed to be like a legendary badass in Japan and you're losing to Jack Perry like in in I don't know, I'm frustrated with that part the the sequence of events, Perry winning flucishly great, but not following it up sucks. Garcia coming out makes sense. MJF coming out makes sense, Adam Cole coming out in theory makes sense.

52 But it's you. You flipped MJFT heel, so you make Adam Cole baby face for no reason. This guy was the devil not too long ago, and now he's come at the baby face tunnel and telling, you know, the undispewed Kingdom to stay back. He's got to handle this. But at the same time, we saw Roderick Strong shaking hands with Hook a couple. Of weeks ago. Like, I I'm just I don't know where any of these pieces fit. It feels sometimes like they took a jigsaw puzzle and just dump it out and they're just making corner pieces fit into the middle and some subs just drives me nuts. But on paper, I can see where they were going. But as wrestling fans, we're following the storylines and we're like, he was just a bad guy a few weeks ago, or and he was a good guy and now they switch. But it's it's so convoluted at times it just makes my brain hurt.

44 Yeah. So the last three times MJFF and Adam Cole were on the same television screen December twenty twenty three, World's End, Adam Cole turns, heal, takes out MGF. M jeff's out of commission for several months. Adam Cole is a heel on the screen. MJF returns, a double or nothing. MJF takes him out. He's the babyface. Adam Cole continues to go through his injury from September twenty twenty three at Grant from Grand Slam. This like fluke inkle injury. The third time they're on television together, MJFF is a heel. Adam Cole returns and he's a babyface, takes out m jeff.

26 It's terrible booking. I mean, that's just and this is the thing I said at the top of the show where it felt like Vin mc mann stubbornness booking. That's what it feels like to me. It's like, aw's like, we we really wanted to do this few there was a fluke injury that screwed everything up for our end of the year plans. This is gonna be a major storyline. We still want to run this. The guys want to still run this and this is what we're gonna give you. It's it's bad. I mean, I don't know if they didn't they didn't know Adam Cole was coming back anytime soon, and they turned MJF Heel as quickly as they did over the summer. Okay, I get that. But if they knew Adam Cole was going to be back in the fall and they were going to run this back and that was the planet like May twenty twenty four, double or nothing, then why turn MGF heal at all at that point? Like, let it run its course the way it was the last where it was left off. You know, they did that angle reportedly a double or nothing because they wanted to close the book on that chapter and it was like, listen, everything got screwed up. We're gonna move forward. This is how we're ending it and carry these guys a different way. It's obviously not happening. Adam Cole was the devil, He's the top heel in the company.

33 While hurt, he's intermittent on television because of the injury, they reportedly couldn't travel his running mates. The Undisputed Kingdom are running his heels. I liked that he mentioned it in his promo, like, I love you guys, but I want to do this on my own. He comes out for the safe for Danielson at the end of the show, which we'll obviously talk about. There's just so many things that don't make sense about this Doctor Trey. I watched this happen and I'm like man Tony Kahan, Aw creative MGF who reportedly wanted to do it, Adam Cole, whoever, like there are some stubborn people that are have lacking patients here to let these things play out, work your way back to it and have some fun with it for the fans. This shotgun stuff, I mean, this is I mean, you brought up Swerve and Hangman Adam Page earlier on the show. There's some stuff later on we'll bring up. We talked about the Dark Order working his heels at the pay per view, working his baby faces to defend Aw's honor on Wednesday. I mean, what the hell are they doing, man? I mean, how it's getting difficult to support this show when they do shit like this.

42 Yeah, I mean at the very least. I mean, we've seen them do very like a ton of babyface versus babyface matches, heel versus heel matches. What you do here is you just still have Adam Cole come out the heel side and just be like, look, I'm still an asshole, but I hate that some of a that's more so. Look I'm still a jerk, but he's a bigger jerk, and so you still keep him kind of as a heel and then organically transition him to babyface instead of just shoving it down our throats and going, wait, now he's a nice guy when like the last time we saw him he was a jerk and mistreating Wardlaw, who we haven't really seen since. Like, there are ways of doing this way more subtly and letting the crowd decide as opposed to just just flip flopping back and forth like a politician trying to win an election. I mean, it's ridiculous, how much I mean, you feel like whoever booked big show in WWE is booking aw because there's so many people flip flopping every single week that you can't keep track, and that's why some of the fan base has matriculated away.

55 It's very funny you said that because That's all I can think of is that segment was playing. Now I was like, this is some big chew stuff like as Paul White sitting back their going like yeah, no, you could do it. That happened to me so many times, Like it's just it's absurd, it's really really really absurd booking, and I thought that this was the last short go here has been very strange, like Aw's like, fuck you guys, this is how we're gonna do it, and you're gonna like it or not, and this is why their business is suffering right now because of shit like that. Canos get Takeshka defeats will Ospray and Ricochet in a three to a match to win the AW International Championship. We both had will Ospray in this one. I'm happy for Takeshka, who is a great wrestler that has deserved a championship in AW for some time. The upside of Kyle Fletcher is very exciting, especially with him turning out to Ospray now. However, I feel like Ricoshet has played a bit player role in AW since coming over from WE as he has had some strange booking since making the move over. Maybe this result was to get the title off Ospray and give him some time in a feud with Kyle Fletcher before something big takes place. In twenty twenty five, Ricochet has his sights set on the International Championship. According to that backstage interview segment you have with Renee on Dynamite, your thoughts on this one, Douc trace Keashka is the new AW International Champion.

10 Is it weird that this match made like Ospray even more because I Ospray took the loss and I was looking at going wow. I mean, if they're like I literally thought it was last week when they we were putting the show to we're putting the preview and prediction show together. I was like, well, if if Takeshka gets the belt, obviously Ricochet would take the loss. And that way, you know, Ospray could come back and be like, well I never lost. Is you didn't beat me? And it made me like Ospray more than he's like no, no, have me go under. I can move on to Kyle Fletcher and then you can do Takeishka and something else and we can always circle back to me and Ricochet. I like that respect more. The Ricochet booking. Honestly, we've we've talked about this for probably three years, ever since Danielson and Adam Cole and Miro and all those guys first made their way over to AW. The ww guys when they come in and everybody craps on aw Son and these guys, they get featured very prominently for like the first month, and then a lot of them just tread water in their time in AW. So I'm not really surprised at the booking because you know, what are you.

16 Gonna do, Like, I mean, are you gonna have him? Are you gonna have Ricochet jump up to the top of the car, you got him stay around the osprey level? Like where are you putting him? So I'm not surprised at the booking. Is just you know, if you're Ricochet and you're like, hey, you guys told me I was gonna be main event type guy. But yet I'm not really in a few with anybody, and I've been here a couple of months now, Like it's a it's gotta be a little frustrating. I am happy for Takeshika, like the dude's fantastic, one of my favorite wrestlers to watch. Even that little bit of promo time he got during the press conference on Dynamite, I thought was good. He just comes across as a total badass, and those are the kind of guys that you. Go, yeah, I want to I want to boom when he's a heel, and I want to cheer form when he's a good guy. So there's a ton of upside in Takeshka. I mean, the guy literally could be Aw's Okata in a couple of years and be like the feature guy on this program because he can do everything.

06 So I'm really happy for him. Uh. I'm looking forward watching Ospray and Kyle Fletcher aka Aw's eminem because that blonde hair freaks me out every time I see it. But I'm happy for those guys. I just I feel for Ricochet because you're like, what do you do with him? If Ospray's feuding with Fletcher, you put him in there with Takeishka. Are you gonna take the belt off Takeishka right away, or you're gonna have Ospray or you have Ricochet lose to him and move Ricochet as something else. Like I would have loved to see Rikoshet come out for the save at the end. Of that show and we didn't see it, and that didn't make any sense to me. I would have loved to see Ricochet come out there against you know, Claudio Moxley and and Pak, and we didn't get that. There's a lot we'll talk about in regards to that as well. In regards to Ricochet here, I felt like, again stubborn booking everything we saw. When the report started coming out that Rickoche was gonna be leaving wwfare All leave Wrestling, they started teasing Ospray and Ricochet. Ospray and Ricochet that was the dream match. He joins at All Out, All In, and he gets the match with Ospray in like five weeks, Like they completely shotgun it. They don't build towards it doesn't take place at the pay per view, They do it on the five year show, and I just felt like they checked that box to make the fans happy impatiently, or make those two guys feel happy impatiently.

27 Like it reminds me on if you compare it on the W side of things, I feel like Bianca Babe bel Air and Jade card Gill are a match that once Jade came over, I was like, Oh, this is gonna be a WrestleMania match, and that was like the vincick Man style of booking. She shows up at the Royal Rumbolden two months later she's wrestling Bianca bell Air and that's the build up. They do it at WrestleMania, so forth and so on. It feels like the Triple H regime is like, no, we're gonna let this breathe a little bit, and there's a pairing. They work together, they're a tag team. You started to see a little bit of the Cracks on Monday's Raw where Jade car Gill they did a double team move and she accidentally does the Dominator to Bianca Bella Air as the opponent rolls out, and maybe that was a little bit of foreshadowing and what's coming here in the coming months between those two that leads to a WrestleMania forty one match between Jade card Gill and Bianca Bela Air. And that's the situation I'll compare it to. It's just like AW is doing everything that they hated and said that they wouldn't do, where it was like this Vince mcman style of booking, and W is doing what we wanted AW to do with longer term storyline, character development, and great ring stuff, very very strange times, and yeah, there you go.

38 I think we've we've beat that dead horse as much as we can. Holograham defeats The Beast Mortos in a two out of three falls match. We both had Graham in this one. I have appreciated the slow build of Hologram in AW, but I also feel like we were getting very close where they need to do something with him soon, something with substance, maybe a feud, maybe a title match. We need something, a match that catapults him out of like, oh, he's got some really good, solid wins, but is he a star. We need to see a match where he becomes a star, or a feud where he becomes a star, title match where he becomes a star, something soon. The Beast Mortos is definitely a favorite of Tony Khans because he is showcased on AW television a lot, and rightfully so, because he's extremely talented. Sidebar, very funny moment on Dynamite Beast Mortos watching the match with the rest of LFI and he's in some sort of colored golf shirt with his mask on. I found a lot of humor in that, I'm like, they just can't put the ring stuff on him, like he he just dresses like you and I, but he's he's a beast. Doctor Trey, your thoughts on this one as Hologram defeats the Beast Mortos.

43 Yeah, I'm watching this match and at times I had Glacier Mortis flashbacks I got. I like, to me, the Hologram build is similar what we went through with Glacier, whereas like you got a lot of hype, you got some early wins, but is or any substance behind us And You're absolutely right, like we got to see him move into something where you start to see some character. You start to see really what this Hologram character is all about. And that's what WCW failed with with Glacier. I mean, ray Lloyd wasn't the best wrestler in the world, but there was something there we saw with Mortis also, like there's we saw more to Mortis down the line that we ever did with Glacier. That's where I'm at with Hologram in the Beast Mortals where it's like, all right, these guys are cool, they have great characters. We just need to see some depth. We need to see them get into something meaningful. I mean, we've seen Mortis take out a bunch of people randomly, we saw them take out Ricochet randomly, Like I just need something to sink my teeth into where I can really get behind them as full fledged characters and not just cool gimmicks.

48 So I did like that they did exactly kind of what I. Said last week, where I wanted to see Hologram take a loss without actually losing a match, and they did that, so that was great. But once again, this to me like a two out of three falls match with really no build. Like two to three. Falls is usually trying to end a feud or a rivalry, and this was kind of a kickoff to one. So I didn't really understand the match type itself for this, other than to maybe show the fans that, hey, Hologram can get beaten, but he's still technically undefeated because he still won the match overall. But overall like, fantastic entering performance.

28 Just I need a little bit more for these guys. Darby Allen defeats Berdie King in the next match. Here we had Darby Allen this one, Birdie King landing in the steel steps perfectly was an insane spot. I feel like Darby and Brody are aw's version of an ow insane match of feud as when all else fails, just go to Darby and Brody one on one. The handshake post match was a nice touch to help elevate Darby some more post pay per view and a single's berdie King run. I would totally get behind Dot Trey your thoughts on this one. Yeah, I love Brody King. I've liked him since the first time I ever saw him and pedeap like the dudes just he can do everything. He's a little bit like uh to me, Like when I watch him, he reminds me of Eric and Ivar from the Viking from the War Sorry, the war Raiders again now that he can just do a little everything, and he's so damn good in the ring, And you're right, like watching these guys fight is always fun and entertaining.

20 Well, it is just kind of out of nowhere. We've seen Darby get, you know, lose to Jack Perry, lose the mocks, and then come back and beat Brody King and get a handshake afterwards, So I get what they're doing. They're trying to, you know, show the roadblocks the bumps in the road for Darby to eventually get back up to challenge Mocks down the line. But to me, at this point, with Sting kind of being gone, Darby should almost become an unofficial member of the House of Black and that way he's got some backup that kind of fit his gimmick and it makes sense. So the handshake maybe some foreshadowing to him aligning with Malachi and Brody and Buddy down the road if he has to feud full fledge with. The next match. Here is the Young Bucks defeeding Private Party to retain the AW World Tag Team Championship with both of the Young Bucks in this one. For all the bad things that we point out about Aw's creative I do have to say I've enjoyed the build a Private Party over the last month. Zoning in on Private Party not capitalized on the initial victory of the Young Bucks following episode number two of AW Dynamite has been well done. Has given part of Private Party and edge and has made fans give a damn about them. Private Parties are very talented tag team that hope continues to earn chances for these spots moving forward. They should be considered a team that could win tag team goal in twenty twenty five. I may be biased on this Doctor Tray because I am a private party fan, but I know you and I I think have different on this, but I have enjoyed Private Parties build over the last month.

43 Let's say you on this match. Yeah, wrestled Dream kind of changed me on it a little bit because you know, for weeks all we saw was them kind of get they won a match, but they're basically getting their asses hand to them by you know, by the BCC, so on one hands, Like, yeah, you guys are getting some wins, but if you're getting your butts kicked you know everywhere else, are they really quality wins? This match kind of, you know, showed a little more that edge, showed a little bit more that they're not just you know, MX sam on for urban kids. I guess I don't know, like I like them more coming out of this than I did going into it. And you know, them being one of the teams that are helping Combat against Blackpool Combat Club makes sense. So this match kind of won me over on their elevation, so to speak.

33 Next match year is Mark Briscot defeating Chris Jericho to retain the ROH World Championship, but we both had Chris Jericho on this one. I love this result so much for Mark Briscoe. I don't think I ever thought I would see the day where Mark brisco a future Hall of Fame tag team specialist, would defeat Chris Jericho, a future first bout Hall of Fame World Champion, on a pay per view. Jericho helped elevate Mark brisco as a top baby face in AW following this win. Mark Briscoe has had an organic following right now and that could really grow further or if AW can help piece it together for him, they will have a rematch at this Wednesday's Dynamite in an r o H style match known as ladder war. Maybe this is the time because I still feel like Jericho with the championship going into death before dishonor which I think is that a December pay per view is something that could be a real possibility. Dutch tray your thoughts on this one as Mark Briscoe gets the victory.

22 Yeah, super happy for Mark brisco. Just a really fun match and I thought Jericho, look, Mark Briscoe is maybe one of the most underrated wrestlers in the world like he can once again kind of those guys gonna do every He can brawl, he can fly, he can he can get technical if he has to. Dear God, go back to that dog color match him his brother. He is FDR he can go hardcore. It's it's very similar to the Jay Uso stuff we see in WWE. A guy that known as a tag team wrestler with his brother kind of breaking out for different reasons obviously, but kind of getting over with the crowd organically and and you know, the company taking notice and going, hey, we got to do something and push him.

02 I hate that. They're doing Ladder war match because that just makes me feel like Big Bill and Brian Keithero get involved and cost brisco the match. But on this on this stage and getting this win is great for Mark Briscoe because it also shows you can move him on to other things. And I kind of think we're seeing that with you know, the stuff with you with the Blackpool Combat Club. Next match here is the main event. It's John Moxley defeating Brian Danielson to win the aw World Championship. We both had John Moxley in this one. Doctor Trey. I'm not sure what to think about this one. The ending had its good moments and bad moments. Moxley defeating Danielson by a choke out anti climatically was strange. The crowd reaction wasn't great, and I'm not sure if that's because they were shocked, didn't like the ending, or both. It was reminiscent of Wrestlerinny thirty, Lessner and Undertaker to me in a way smaller venue. It took the rest of the baby Faces outside of Darby, Private Party and Jeff Chair way too long to make a sensible save hell.

00 Even Jim Ross said on commentary, what took you so long? Despite all that, the ending makes sense to help elevate Darby Allen In some other new faces like Orange Cassidy Hooked, Daniel Garcia, etc. As the Babyfaces of AW have to fend off the Blackpool Combat Club if they are still called that. They were referred to that on the pay per view and on Dynamite. You just turned, despite being easy to predict, made sense, and how conflicted he was he was the one screaming just stopped moving to Daniel Bryan. I think on commentary they said it was Darby Allen was actually Yudah, and it left the door open if and when Danielsen returns for part time run. I feel like we're gonna nitpick this a little bit, Doctor Trey, your thoughts on this one.

43 I thought the match was fine. I didn't hate it. I didn't love it. I just thought it was kind of what I would expect from these two guys. The ending, yeah, I don't know if I would have had Danielson kind of just pass out from the submission. I think I would have wanted to see a three count instead of just that. It kind of you could kind of have a come out of Noe, like not so much out of nowhere, but kind of like almost like a mercy killing type thing where he keeps getting up, he keeps getting up, he keeps getting up, and finally you get one you know, final move to put him down. And I think that would have accomplished a little more than just the random. You know, choke out pass out. How are you gonna call the finish?

27 Yeah, the ending was weird, like like we kind of saw the Uda turn coming. I did like that you to use Danielson's own move against him, because I feel like that can kind of carry over for when Damson finally does return. But yeah, like if if you're the baby Faces and there's Darby and there's you know, private Party and Jeff Jarrett like out there, why does it take the rest locker room so long? That's always one of my things, like if if you're a good guy, you should have a lot of friends and they should come out faster to help you, And that didn't have And I'm still kind of confused about the Duffel bag for the title belt, like are we just not going they don't acknowledge it, like he's a champion, but we're not going to see like why is it a double bag?

12 But yeah, it's I'm giving them a little bit of leeway in a sense of I kind of want to see where this keeps going before I pass final judgment on it, because on one hand, it could be really good. On the other hand, it could easily turn into new Blood versus Millionaire's Club. And That's kind of where I'm teetering on it right now, where I'm seeing all these fresh young faces coming out to fight the good fight, but it could turn ugly really really quickly if it's not put together. Properly. Yeah, and that's my concern, and I think this will kind of bleed in a little bit too what I wanted to talk about in regards to this match and some of the things that carried out there. You know, I was trying to give aw the benefit of the doubt during DYNA on Wednesday night, Like the beginning the show opened up with a really good segment, which they've done lately with Blackpool Combat Club, Like those segments with the music behind it and like different camera shots I think have been very very well done. And then I'm like, man, we're forty five minutes in a nine of mine and nothing has happened yet with the Blackpool Combat Club on anything that's being followed up. I think it was around literally the halfway point of the SHEW, just before the first hour closed out, that they came out and fought the baby Faces and it was top Flight in Action and Dretty, it was the Dark Order, it was Private Party and Daniel Garcia, and all I could think of was like, so you got orange casting there, Darby Ellen, They're saying is selling an injury. Wor's hook hook was

42 part of that, Like, why is any back out there? I would have liked to seeing a little bit more toying from the young Bucks being very conflicted, or at least something on commentary where they acknowledged they were conflicted, because it looked like that they were. It looked like they were conflicted. It looked like Ocada was conflicted. But Jack Perry talks about of it. They go in the back and there's a backstage segment there, and I was like, also, where are some of the top babyfaces and all this? Where is Swerve Strickland? Like, why would if Swerve knows what's going on backstage? He's a former AW world champion, believes in ANW Why isn't he out there? Where was Adam Cole? I don't think Adam Cole was in that segment on Dynamite, but he was at the end of wrestled Dream. It just it seemed strange, Doctor Trey. It's like it reminded me of WCW when the nWo would beat up WCW, and they beat up mostly like the jobbers for the most part, or they would completely beat down a baby face they were trying to get over, And I don't know if any of that was like accomplished.

48 I guess maybe Orange Cassidy was accomplished there. And then to your point the Duffel bag, I kind of like that. I'm like, Okay, where's this duffle back thing going? Is it? The duffel bag is going to be handed off to Seane McMahon. Shaye McMahon's behind this entire thing and he's the one that's trying to take over AW, and they handed him in the duffel blag. They didn't have the duffel bag with him. They had a suitcase and I think Nigel said on commentary that he assumed that the championship was in the suitcase, which was a very very thin suitcase. It's it's a whole bunch of stuff here. I'm optimistic, but I'm also pessimistic because I thought that the Elite storyline from four months ago with Jack Perry and Ocatta taken out Tony Kahan was going to lead to big things over the summer and it didn't. And that was like a takeover of AW. So here we are again with another takeover of AW and the guys that were trying to take back their company, the EVPs.

43 Are they going to turn babyface at some point? Do they agree with what the Blackpool Combat Club's doing, Like, what's their role in this? If they're going to be out there? Is there something more? It was weird, Doctor Trey. I don't know. I don't know, Yeah what I'm watching this stuff? Like I get frustrated because, Okay, so we had hooked like what two weeks ago, trying to find out who took out his dad. But then he's out there fighting the Blackpool Combat Club. But meanwhile, Swarz Strickland, who was the team captain of Team AW at Blood and Guts, is not out there for aaw And like you said, Adam calls out there for Russell Dream, but he's not out there for this. And then it's just, you know, like the one thing WW does really well right now is they don't leave loose strings out there for people like us to nitpick at. Typically over here, it's just afraid rug At times, there's so many loose strings that you don't see the full picture of what they're trying to build. And then all of a sudden it comes together and you're like that didn't make any sense, Like you still have this and this and this and this and this like where like you know, we we have Christian Cage walking around that still has a contract for a world title shot, but you know he's not with them, he's not against them. But then you got the stuff with him and Hook and then I'm like, there's just.

12 So many. Moving parts that it just sometimes it doesn't make sense. Like I did like the Jack Perry line of him saying no, no, not now, let's go like a little bit of that, because you saw a little bit of confliction stuff. But for the most part, yeah, you're in the same You're like, okay, now if we get the bucks to flip, now, we gotta. Like them being the EVP characters. Like some of the stuff doesn't kind of fit. And then I feel like they just go, let's shove it in the like rick It like I said earlier, like Rickochet, shit been white people out there, Like you're right. It reminds me of when nWo would just go beat up the Cruiserweight Division, you know, like, oh my god, they're beating up poor Silver King. You know, it's like, do I care that they're beating up Silver King? Do I care that they're beating up you know, Diablo number four?

00 Do I care or no? It's like we're being but a lot of guys that either A don't make sense to be in this or B haven't been around back enough for me to care. Like the only person in that. In that beatdown that I have an affinity for right now is Orange Cassidy because at least he's been here the entire time. Garcia just came back. You know. It's like, hey, by the way, I signed my contract, I'm gonna go get my ass kicked by the Black Boole Combat Club that it just didn't make sense to me, But I'm giving them a little bit of time to win me over, just because on paper it could be really really good. Because you and I both love good invasion angles and really in the last in our lifetime, we've only seen the nWo one be good and that turned badly. I mean, Aces and Eights and Immortal and Fortune and TNA those never worked out very well. The WCW Invasion in WWF never worked out well. Like we love invasion angles and and as wrestling fans, we we we are like praying to the wrestling gods that we finally get a good one.

05 But we've only had one in our lifetime, and I don't know if they can ever be duplicated. Yeah, all I could think it was during the segment the close of Wreussell Dream and for Dynamite. If if Brian Danielson is so well respected, if people love AW so much, where where's FTR? Where's the outrunners, where's the acclaimed? Like how are any babyfaces in the backstage that are allowing that to happen? They're just sitting on a monitor, Like what are they doing? They eating and catering, They're taking a crap, Like, what's what are we doing here? Are they playing video games? It just it doesn't make sense. Yeah, I mean in FTR was feuding with the Blackpool Combat Club just a couple of months ago.

45 They were on Team AW. Yeah, Like it wasn't that long ago that we saw people feuding with with Blackpool Combat Club and none of them are the ones coming out Like we saw House of Black Hat a run in with with Blackpool Combat Club not too long ago, and they're not out there. And Darby shook Brodie's hands, so you would think that they would be somewhat on the same page. And it's just once again it's like like. Who in the back's not doing anything right now? Oh dark order, Hey, you guys go out there, silver chase the truck for crying out loud. You know there's a girl out there. Why isn't Willow out there trying to take down Marina Shafear? You know like that, there are things that would make sense that they don't do. And then this is why people like us go. Man, I just you're almost you're pessing like you're seeing this big angle potentially get built, but they failed on so many other big angles over the last year and a half that you and I are just going, oh, it could be good, but it's probably gonna suck and we're probably gonna hate it, and it's probably gonna be the one of the final nails in the coffin if that's the route they're going. Because we at least we know they got three years to make this stuff work. We got three more years and hopefully they can figure this stuff out in the next three years.

04 That's that's all I can say right now. Yeah, it's all very very very strange. Again, it makes any baby face in the back stage area look very very weak that they did not go out there. So it's we have to see, uh, one last thing. I'll bring up your doctor Tory backsage segment Dan Garcia a private party talking to the elite there young Bucks Jack Perry would to set up their match. I think it's either on collision or Dynamite, I can't remember, but you know, it's like, how did you guys allow this to happen? Your EVPs? They are like brushing off their bushing brushing off. But there's this line from Nicholas Jackson at the end and he says all in due time, and I'm like, are they turning? Baby face? Like why would he say that?

46 I thought that was that was not a throwaway lay throwaway line in that segment that I thought was like a very big deal where he said in due time, all in due time, of like, how are you guys not defending? Aw? Maybe they're linking up with one another, I don't know. I thought that was an inner line well, and I. Took it as we see what's going on and we're kind of like Heels always do law. Heels always known for doing long term planning. That's the character. Like you think of all your great villains, they have this long drawn out plan so I can look at and go they're crappy characters when he says all a new time, like, we're not gonna run out there and get our asses kicked. If we're gonna do something to take these guys down, we have to kind of plan it out a little bit more. And plus, you know, once again, Matt and Nick aren't the biggest guys in the world. So yeah, I'm hoping that you know, for all the foreshadowing that WW does that you and I love, I hope this is a little bit of foreshadowing for something we can always go back to. Yeah, because it links up to what Nick said way back here about all.

46 In due time. So once again, maybe I'm giving them a little bit of leeway that maybe there actually is a plan in place, and when it comes. To layout, you and I'll be like, damn, they did a really great job here. It's just that you know, they're their track record isn't so great in these type of situations. The firm a lot of things. I just feel like there's like a ball yarn right now in front of our fiend in there, like, all right, let's say pull this apart and see if we get to something good. So just wrapping up, are you optimistic or pessimistic for this angle. I think I'm optimistic just because, like I said earlier, you and I, for god, I remember being seven. Years old and going through the PW you. Know, the Pro Wrestling magazine is going, oh, how great would it be of NWA wressell WWS. And we have been longing for great invasion angles and takeover angles our entire lives, and like I said, we've only gotten.

37 Really one good one. So I'm optimistic that maybe we can go look at all the pitfalls of bad invasion angles and try to avoid those and have one good one. Plus, I don't know if Max would get involved in something like this if. He didn't have a hand in kind of planning it out. And you have a lot of guys that have experienced with Bullet Club TAKEO, we're in New Japan, WWE stuff that could put together a good plan. So I think I'm cautiously optimistic, which is always one of my favorite go tos here on the on SRTU. Makes you really wonder if there's actually McMahon helping with k with creative and aw lay with some of the stuff that's going on pay per view Prediction Record.

19 Yes, doctor try, I say don't forget Shane's kind of the ones that pitched with the twenty four hour Wrestling Marathon supposedly at. One point, well, I know he pitched like putting himself as a high top competitor in the Rumble A couple of years ago. I did not know the twenty four hour Wrestling all right payvview prediction record. We both went seven and four. I'm one, twenty four and thirty four in the year doctory one, thirteen and forty five. Match of the night and event rating. I gave it a three point five. I did not like this show at all, and my match of the night was Jay White Hangman Page. Yeah, I had. I had Jay White Hangman Page. Also, I was a little higher, I think three point seven for me because there were a couple of I always go if there's something memorable, I'll cling to it.

04 The Hangman Jay White match was really great, and then to close the show for better for worse will still stand out to me, So I was a little bit higher. I gave it a three point. Cent all right, doctor Trey, let's talk about that result there. So John Moxley is the one that ends the full time wrestling career. Of the one and only American Dragon, Brian Danielson, according to reports which I will bring up here now. Fight Full Select This also comes to us from Wrestling has reported that Danielson specifically wanted it to be Moxley who ended his farewell title run. Per Fightful, the American Dragon went into the bout with a series of legitimate injuries which led to him second guessing his decision to work the three matches leading in a ta Coma event, which is the tag team match against alongside wheel Yuter against the bcc A title versus title match with Kazisko Ocata, and a nine non title match with Nigel McGinnis at Grand Slam also notes that Danielson had legitimately been working without a contract for the past few months, something Daniels than mention before challenging Swart of Strickland for the title at All In, and he's effectively a free agent. However, fight Full says AW hopes Danielson will stay around the company, wrestling periodically and resuming other duties when he's ready to do so. Danielson himself said he would need to get his neck traded first, likely with surgery. I Love Brian Danielson Doctor Trey, but it just felt like an interview is everything that he was saying. He was not lying.

20 He was like a broken down car to get into this match. Your thoughts on Danielson wanting to drop the title and to Moxley and for Moxley to be the one is is that the right call or does it matter since that's what Danielson wanted and he deserves that right. Yeah, I'm not going to fault him for wanting to drop the bell to mox Is. The amazing thing to me is if you go back to when the Blackpool Combat Club was formed, Danielson and Moxie I both said they weren't really that close when they were both in WWE, but they've gotten super close since they got to AW So, you know, it's kind of like if samdy Zay was a champion and wanted to retire, he wanted to drop the belt to Kevin Owens.

04 I can't fault a guy for wanting to drop the belt to somebody that a you're close with MB you feel can do a good job for the future of the company. So I don't have a fault with that. I don't even have a problem with him wrestling those matches because I mean, hell, he got to wrestle Nigel. Did we ever think that it would happening? End? No, he got to wrest Slokatah was the. Stipulation kind of stupid, yes, but he got to wrestle Okata, he got to have one more match with you know, with you to Claudio and Pak. I mean those are people, So I don't fault him for doing it. I'm fine with the direction they went here because I mean Danielson has kind of earned everybody's respect. Over you know, his career. So this is if this is if this is the shield he wants to go out on.

48 Uh And I'm using that term ironically because apparently the last three people he wrestled on Raw was seth Rawlins, on SmackDown with Ruman Reigns, and on AWS John Moxley. If that's the way he wants to go out, I can't fault him for it, And I give him all the credit the world for trying to limp to the finish line here. Yeah. I mean, I as a fan, would have liked to see it get dropped to like a younger talent help elevate them. But I can understand the creative behind this, and more importantly, this is what Danielson wanted. He deserves that, right, This is what he wants. This is who he wanted to drop it to. This is who he wanted to defeat him, and he felt that this was the best thing that could happen for AW. So maybe if you're someone that is sitting on the pessimistic side of things in regards to this angle that's playing out with Moxley and the bcc TA trying to take over AW, maybe this has changes to optimists because if Danielson want to do this, maybe there's some good stuff coming up that we just don't know as Restlin fans. It kind of gets AW back in the swing of things.

42 Here. Switching gears to the WWE Doctor Trey. We saw on Friday's edition of SmackDown that Jimmy Usso told Roman Reigns that they need help after being beat down by the New Blood Line. He furthered that on Monday by trying to talk to his brother Jay Usso. Jay doesn't want anything to do with them. This is what we've been calling for. I'm starting to get excited, are you? Uh? Yeah? Because on paper, this is what we all want. We saw, you know, the Rock comeback. Now we're seeing Jimmy try to recruit his brother Roman kind of not wanting to do it because Roman knows he's not to apologize and that's not the Roman character. So I'm excited for because, I mean, this is kind of the match we've all been wanting to see since the New Bloodline FOURM was New Bloodline versus O G Bloodline, and.

31 It feels like we're headed that way. It's just it's gonna be fun to see how much groveling Jimmy and Roman have to do. And plus, I don't know about you, watching Jimmy and Roman on SmackDown and kind of embracing the baby face side's fun. Like Jimmy doing the whole like hand out for the mic thing and like all that stuff is really fun. So we're gonna see different size to these characters that we've seen for three and a half years be just egregiously jerks. Now we're gonna see that that fun side come out a little bit, and it makes it for more entertained television. Another angle that's playing out really well on WWE television right now is Kevin Owens, who took out Cody Roads a couple of weeks ago after the pay per view he took he takes out Randy Orton on SmackDown after Randy had an inverted elbow to the head of excuse me, he took an inverted elbow from Owens and then he hit Owens and that led to the backstage segment while they were trying to talk it out. Owens posted this video on social media, his social media, you know, saying that WWE's tried to silence them. He tried to release a video on Mondays. Rather they did not air. He is threatening to air the video on to social media if they don't airn on SmackDown. Owens is like his characters turning to this like quasi conspiracy theorists. You know, they are holding me back or silencing me type stuff.

48 And it reminds me of Kevin Owens in the two thousand and nine to twenty eleven run of ROH where I was like, man, this is the guy that can really sink his teeth into this type of stuff and make it feel real. He's making it feel real. It's very, very fun. If you're a longtime fan of Kevin Owens, like I am. You should be excited, doctor Trey. I hope you are as well, because I'm digging what is going on right now with his character. Yeah, it was funny because he's doing this character and the immediately think the conspiracy thing. I thought it was Sammy's am. Right before Sammy joined the Bloodline, Sammy was doing. The conspiracy thing. I also love I don't know if he knows this. He's wearing a dusty road shirt and I love that because it kind of feels like, you know. For conspiracy theorists out there, it's like, well, maybe he's plating out the fact that maybe Cody is kind of actually a complete and total jerk, and eventually leads to Cody's turning heel at some point down the line and find out that Kevin was right all along. So I love these storylines like this because they can go in so many different directions and it's just waiting to see how it plays out. It feels like you're reading a book or watching a good movie. You don't know really where it's going to go. That's just great television.

53 So I love that stuff. Yeah, I do too. I'm very very excited to see where things go. Here and then the last thing I want to bring up is PW I announced the top ten women for pwi's Women's To fifty list for twenty twenty four. The top ten is as follows. Number ten, Athena, number nine, Ryan May number eight, Willow Night in Gale number seven, Bailey number six, three, number five, Stephanie Vakor for Maka three, Ria Ripley, two, Jordan Grace and number one Timeless, Tony Storm, Doctor Tray. Some notables that did not make the top ten Yo Sky at thirteen, Live Morgan at twelve, Roxanne Perez at eleven, Becky Lynch at seventeen.

34 Your thoughts here on the top ten list and some of those that missed the top ten. I don't hate this list as much as some other people did, Like I look at it and go okay, Like I saw some people going like, I can't believe Ria's not number one. I'm like, well, she did miss a few months, and the people that were one and two were there for longer. Like I thought Live was a little low. I thought I thought I would have. Live in my top ten. Seeing Willow above Mariah May was a little weird, but they at least they're close, So I didn't really hate their top ten as much as a lot of people were kind of flaming it. I thought it was pretty accurate. I mean, you can move a couple of people around a couple of spots, but I thought overall the top thirteen were probably as close as you're gonna get.
