Bosnian hiker, ski tourist, high-altitude mountaineer, rock climber, and alpinist, Aida Starčević comes from Bugojno, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo. Aida has climbed the highest peaks in Europe and South America. In addition to high-altitude ascents of Mont Blanc - France, Elbrus - Russia, Pisco – Peru, and Aconcagua - Argentina, she has completed various alpinist climbs in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as the Alps. In 2014, Aida was named Bosnia and Herzegovina’s most successful female alpinist, by the Sarajevo School of Mountaineering, becoming the first woman in the history of alpinism there, to climb the Pallavicini Couloir, an alpine route on Grossglockner in the Alps, and, again in 2020 by the Mountaineering Association of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for her ascent of Aconcagua, coincidentally setting the female altitude record there.
In addition to alpine climbs in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, and Europe, sports climbing is another one of Aida’s passions. Having climbed hundreds of sports routes of various difficulties, one of her most notable achievements, is the longest sports route in Croatia, a 600-meter (1968 ft.) rock climb.
