UFC's Matthew "Semi the Jedi" Semelsberger Spittin' Nothing but Facts!!!

Our guest this week on the Original Sports Podcast with Mark Maradei is Matthew Semelsberger.  A 3 Sport guy in high school competing in football, lacrosse, and wrestling. Excelling particularly in football and leading his high school to a state championship he earned a FBS scholarship to Marist where he was majoring in criminology before taking a life turn and beginning his MMA career. After one of his wrestling buddies showed him his collection of the Ultimate Fighting Championship videos, he was enamored with the sport and decided to start his goal of making the UFC. Starting his professional career in 2017, Semelsberger compiled a 6-2 record in the regional East Coast scene and fought his first UFC fight on August 22, 2020 against Carlton Minus with a unanimous victory. As he continues his pursuit of a welterweight championship we are going to discuss with Matthew his training, his role models in the sport and who has helped him excel thus far. We will also dig a little bit into his high school sports career and how it helped him to develop the habits he needs to be a highly competitive athlete today.
