The Godfather of MMA Mike Murray

The OG of MMA, well maybe one of the OG’s…. This week's guest on the Original Sports Podcast with Mark Maradei is Mike Murray. Murray fought in the first MMA in March of 1980. So No! UFC is not groundbreaking, people. It was the first sanctioned MMA fight recognized in the United States and the SHowtime documentary entitled “Tough Guys” reaffirms that. Recognized with Dave Jones as the first two in the sport of MMA in the US they have help to transcend what has become one of the most beloved sports questionably surpassing boxing.

We will talk with Mike about his early years and what drove him to the sport, how he managed to get recognized along with Dave Jones as the OG’s of MMA and many of the accolades he has received throughout the years. Mike also will share his current position as promoter and just where you can find his fights taking place. So let's get ready to rumble…..
