Our guest this week on the Original Sports Podcast with Mark Maradei is Karl Darden. Darden is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, a 20 year veteran, a former helicopter pilot, and a chronic Navy Sports fan.

His enthusiasm for all Navy Sports led him to create the Navy Sports Nation blog in 2020. A year later, he started Navy Sports Central, which is the Official Podcast of the Navy Sports Nation.

His guests have included Navy coaches, former athletes, and podcasters who cover sports of potential Navy opponents.

We will talk with Karl about his experience at the Naval Academy and as a 20 year veteran. We will ask him about his passion for Navy Athletics and why he chose to start a podcast and blog relating to all Naval Academy sports. Karl will also talk about some of his favorite guest on his podcast and what made them so captivating. We will have him share with us for our final segment “We Just Gotta Know” who his favorite people in military history are and what makes them so significant.
