This week on the Original Sports Podcast we are excited to interview Jeff Potter. For the last 12 years Potter Baseball has thoroughly enjoyed working with kids, families, organizations, and the community at large to bring some fun to the game of baseball; whether through the annual Potter Baseball Tour, yearly trips to Cooperstown with teams, running free clinics, or visiting schools. We love baseball, and we love kids. We have tried our best to combine the love of baseball with community service and charity work. The Potter Baseball Tour alone has traveled to over 100 towns, played hundreds of baseball games, run hundreds of free clinics, and raised over $100,000.00 for non-profit organizations. Along with this, we have focused on teaching life lessons through many different methods, and we are constantly striving to put emphasis on our four tenets of passion, hard work, respect, and selflessness.
Since 2009 we have taken 12-u teams to Cooperstown for their weeklong tournament, starting that year with one team, and now we take three teams annually to take in this wonderful event. Over 200 families have participated over the years.
Coach Potter has also written three books, all available on Amazon. They are “Whatever Happened to Baseball?”, “Saving Baseball”, and “Far from Being Done”.
This summer, the Potter Tour is taking on a large goal of setting a World Record for most people playing catch at one time. The main event will take place in Red Lion, PA, but there will also be over 100 virtual locations set up all over the country participating at the same time.
Coach Potter grew up in Ellwood City, PA, located about 30 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. Although he now resides in the Baltimore area with his wife Sheryl, he is still a Pittsburgh fan at heart.
We will talk with Jeff about his passion for the game of baseball. SOme of the life lesson’s he has taught young people through the game and what his goals and aspiration were when he began this adventure and just exactly where they have grown to today. We will have Jeff share with us some of the most monumental moments that he has encountered through Potter Baseball in our “We Just Gotta Know” segment.
