Juggling Life as an NFL Wife and Mom: Charlotte Heyward
Hey Steel City Nation, on this episode we will be talking with Charlotte Heyward. Yes you heard me correct, the wife of Craig “Ironhead” Heyward and mother of current Pittsburgh Steeler Defensive Lineman Cameron Heyward. Charlotte is born and raised a Steeler fan and has been attending games since she was 10 years old. She attended the University of Pittsburgh where she met Craig and began her family which included having three sons. She worked in the real estate industry while she also held the title of “sports mom” by taxing her boys to practices, games, tournaments, and college visits. Charlotte’s middle son played basketball for Georgia Tech and her youngest currently plays football for Michigan State but for Charlotte a dream came true when In 2015, She and Cameron were able to turn one of their biggest passions--giving back to the community--into The Cameron Heyward Foundation, aka The Heyward House. Charlotte serves as the Foundation’s Executive Director. Charlotte is proud to have the chance to serve the city that she loves and where she has such strong roots, and she looks forward to doing so for many years to come.
We will talk about her life as a wife of a professional athlete but also her role as mom during that time as well. We will ask Charlotte about growing up a Steeler fan now having a son that is unquestionably one of the faces of the franchise. We will talk about her passion for giving back to the community and just what the future holds for her. Charlotte’s Decade Definer will focus on the most exciting games she has attended that her family has been a part of.
