Bouncing Abroad with Former UCF Basketball Star Aubrey Dawkins- Final Part of Basketball Preview

This week's guest on the Original Sports Podcast with Mark Maradei is Aubrey Dawkins. Dawkins currently plays for BG Gottingen of the Basketball Bundesliga. He played college basketball for theUCF Knights. He transferred to UCF after he completed his sophomore season for the 2015-16 Michigan Wolverines. He is the son of Johnny Dawkins who became the UCF coach following the 2015-16 season. As a collegiate freshman for the 2014-15 Wolverines, he began the he became a starter when injuries plagued the team in January 2015. In his more prominent role later in the season, Dawkins started to shine and assert his skill in Big 10 play. After a standout career once he transferred to University of Central Florida, Dawkins decided to turn pro with one year of college eligibility left. He went undrafted after being projected to be selected in the second round and which takes us to his current basketball employer Türk Telekom B.K.. He competes at the highest level league and is working towards a hopeful opportunity in the NBA after a very successful summer league season.

We will talk with Aubrey about his college journey, leaving early for the NBA and then taking his talents Germany and Turkey. We ask Aubrey about playing in the NBA summer league and his success there and what’s next for him. For our “We Just Gotta Know” segment we will have Aubrey share with us some of the life lessons he learned being a son of a former Naismith winner and NBA player in Johnny Dawkins.
