A&M's Chad Lusk selects the Walmart and Rebag program as the best new partnership of the year. While there were many marketplace partnerships announced in the first half of the year, including strategic ones involving eBay and Facebook, third-party marketplaces like Miracle, and partnerships such as Best Buy and Ulta and Lowe's, Lusk considers the Walmart and Rebag partnership to be the most unexpected.
Through this program, luxury partners like Chanel, Fendi, and Louis Vuitton are digitally available on Walmart's site. This partnership is beneficial because consumers across all income brackets shop at lower-price retailers, and this allows Walmart to scale up to higher household incomes. It gives customers a great experience and value, especially since resale and secondhand markets are currently popular and tend to skew younger. Walmart brought in this partnership to digitally expand their reach without any real downside to its core business. Lusk concludes that it was a "really cool, innovative, surprising partnership."
