In the latest edition of Omni Talk’s Retail Fast Five live from Lululemon Mall Of America sponsored by the A&M Consumer and Retail Group, Avalara, Wiliot, TGW-Logistics and Sezzle Chris Walton and Anne Mezzenga discuss Kohl's new partnership with Babies R Us.
Kohl's has announced an exciting partnership with Babies R Us, bringing baby gear, furniture, and more to approximately 200 stores across the country. The retailers struck a licensing deal with WHP Global, known for brands like Bonobos, Joe's Jeans, and Anne Klein.
Starting this August, Kohl's will debut Babies R Us shops ranging from 750 to 2,500 sq ft, with plans to expand to more stores throughout the fall. Customers can also expect an expanded assortment of baby products on Kohl's website and the launch of a baby registry.
Kohl's CEO Tom Kingsbury, drawing from his experience at Burlington, recognizes the untapped potential in the baby category. This move positions Kohl's as a one-stop shop for families, much like Target and Walmart. The partnership is expected to drive both in-store and online sales, particularly in the e-commerce space.
Industry experts compare this strategic move to Kohl's successful partnership with Sephora, highlighting Kohl's strength as a real estate provider and its ability to replace low-performing categories with high-demand offerings like baby products, beauty, and home goods.
