04 Hey, you have done to censure. Wow, crazy you. Because since the pipe Man here on the Adventures Pipe Man W four C Y Radio and I'm here with. I'm dumb, I'm Bill from Withdrawn. See I'd rather the BAM say it because they usually say it cooler than men, and if it's a complicated one, then I don't fuck up their band name. I think I can say Withdrawn. Ye, I'm capable of that. But you never know. I'll bet you sometimes people have said your name wrong, even though it's easy.
46 Apparently, so oh they just don't remember, which is fair. They call you another band. Exactly, just like just like, uh, yeah, no we played with them, yeah, but we were the one before. Oh yeah, so sorry, so it's fair. We're just happy people come to see us, right yeah. Oh fucking how's it feeling to be a bloodstock? Amazing? What do you think? Yeah? I mean we we didn't dream of this for a long time and now we're here. We're having fun. It's amazing, enjoying that time. Just like having the opportunity to like play at this festival legendary, like you know, being on the same lineup as like, you know, bands we've like you know, grown up idolizing and just like having our name just there, just there with all these great bats. Yeah, it's dream. It's a real dream contry.
26 It's great. You probably don't even think it's real yet, right, not really. Yeah, we're kind of like, how do I put it, We're just kind of anxiously waiting for our set, and also we are like super excited to like get on there and get it done and just enjoy every moment of it. But at the same time, it's just like, ah, God, it's coming. But hey, it's all part of the fine. It's while we're here. We're happy to do it obviously, So yeah, it's gonna be great. I love that you say that, though, because I think a lot of people they they always think that artists are these extreme extroverts and see exact opposite. Yeah, you know, and even me, he does this all the time until I put on the mic. I'm nervous. Yeah, you know, in your head, you play all these scenarios in your head, but as soon as you get on stage or I put on the mic, like you're it's an out of bay experience.
13 It's literally that. I think a lot of it is, like I don't know about you, Bill, but it's like me, I try and plan out everything in my head just like I hope this doesn't happen. I want this to happen, and just like you just kind of have to like go with you don't know what's gonna happen, and you just hope you're going to have a good experience, a really good time. So yeah, man, for. Me, it's exactly opposite. I just I just stress until we get to the stage and I'm like, but after thirty seconds, absolutely absolutely amazing. Exactly because you're in the zone exactly, you know, exactly, and that's the point. But before that, you know, we're when you do stuff like us, you're your own worst critic. So like right before I'll be like in my head, fucking with my head, Oh what if I forget to say this or this or what blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. You know, and you do that as an artist too, and it's like, oh what if this that?
01 And then you just get on and it doesn't matter anymore because you're having fun. And that's a true musician like exactly that. Man, It's just like the whole point is to play you know, it's not like work, that's the thing. It's just like you play an instrument, you play in a band, you enjoy yourself while you're doing these things, and it's just like just keeping that in your head is just like I don't know, just gets rid of everything, any type of nerves. And it's just like, you know, we've we've managed to get here, like you know, we're just doing the exact same set that we've done, like you know, several times before, many times before, we've rehearsed it. We know exactly what we're doing, Like what do we do better? You know, have second nature right exactly? Like I can't compare it to me going back home after driving in the UK.
43 Oh my god. When I drive in the UK, I obscured as ship. My brain can't even fucking handle it, Like and I'm like holding the steering wheel, don't get in the right lane. And when I get home, I don't even pay attention. Man, I could drive with my knee if I need to. It's like just second nature. Would be the complete opposite for us too, no ship. But for me it's actually even even when I'm sound horrible driving from he's not that bad. Occasionally I'll be mister having by, you know. My bisic problem here it's about driving, though, it's walking.
24 Like whenever I'm in London, my friends have to grab my shirt and pull me out of the street because I'm always looking the wrong way, walk out into traffic. Things like, we don't have jaywalking here, because that's the thing in the States, isn't it. Well, it depends on where I was born. In New York, grumb in Jersey, they don't have jaywalking. No really. I moved to California when I was like twelve years old and there was a street there were no cars on it anywhere, and I'm walking across. The cop pulled me over and said, I'm giving you a take ticket for jaywalking. I literally said, what is jayalking? Land of the Free indeed, right? But in New York, yeah, you. Just fucking walk and either you run out of the way if the cars about to hit you, because in New York they will hit you. Yeah, start for a pedestrian, you very just And it's like that in London too, like you walk out of the street and you're not looking.
18 Yeah you bury either run or hit. But that's the thing though, It's like I don't know. It's like if you like, if you notice, like pigeons in the UK as well, like in the last like twenty years, they've gotten so brave because they don't move out the way of cars. They literally played they don't play chicken, they play pigeon, and like sometimes they win as well, just like what are you doing? And it's like it's like that in London as well. People just walk out and just like I bet you hit me right far. The fun though, I guess if you call it, if you call that bit fun. I call it fragger. You know the game Frogger, I call it Frogger. Yeah, yeah, exactly. I mean for me when I went I went to New York once, and the amount of beeping we get in New York, it's just normal, you get. Yeah, yeah, you know, that's like nor I don't even hear it anymore. It's normal.
00 Like yeah, so mad beeped up me here in the UK, and I was like, shut up, motherfucker, because I was trying to focus on getting out of the roundabout. Yeah, because that's what fucks with my head most. It's the roundabout because in the States are roundabout you pull after the rights it's like, just don't even think about it. And I'm like, sometimes I have to go around like two three times before my brain figures out how to get out of it. That's the right thing to do, though, because you'll have people who like cut across and like, you know, get the wrong lanes. Yeah, we don't do that, just like, yeah, that's bad, go round and round and around. Let just keep going and figure it out. So tell me a little bit about the journey to bloodstuff.
42 So we competed in Metal to the Masses, which, for anyone who doesn't know, is like a competition like a Battle of the Band sort of thing for just local bands in like their areas, you like, participating in that scene and what's it. We competed in it last year and we made it to the same and then you know, just made so many friends along the way and then like got so many gigs out of just doing that, even though we didn't win it last year. And then we got asked by the guy who runs our local venue, club eight five Danny, if we like to do it again, and we're just like, yeah, why not, We'll give it a go, and somehow we've just managed to win it. Wow, we're at Bloodstock, and just like I just want to say, like all the bands that we were like, you know, competing a getting to like you know, all our friends, they're all great people, are great musicians, and it's just like the fact that we got picked. Yes, it's amazing, Like it's really great. But yeah, melt to the masses.
35 If you're interested in potentially playing our Bloodstock, Yeah, see if you can get in on that, because it's a great opportunity. I love the fact that they do metal and masses from Bloodstock because it's really gives an opportunity to not only for bands, but to show people that Bloodstock is a true metal community festival exactly, you know, not some commercial corporate thing, no, but a true family And then there's so much good talent, Like the fact that you. Won says a lot, yeah, because there's so much good talent. But there's so much good vibes between all you bands, Like it's a competition, but you guys still are supportive of each other, and I love that.
15 Yeah, because everyone's in the same boat. Everyone wants to do well. But it's just like you know, it's just like everyone wants to like do it their way and make their music with like their band, you know, and it's just there's just no better way to do it if you want to get the like, you know, your opportunity to play at this festival, and then good things may come of it, good things may not all. Look, all you can really say is that you know, it's six that you made it this far, and it's just like, yeah, it's just it's great. It's still hasn't really sunk in. Even though we're here and we're literally hours from like playing, I'm still just like, oh, yeah, you know, it's great. And you know what's called too, is that the worst case scenario. You make new friends in it. Maybe you have connections that you do gigs together now that you wouldn't have had before. And like you said, that's year you got a bunch of gigs out of it. So it's literally that there's a no lose situation in my opinion.
06 Yeah, you know, no. It's absolutely right. Yeah, that's it. And that's the thing. It's just like you get to I used to turn networking like in quotation, because it's just like you're just making friends, You're just hanging out with other musicians. Yeah, and just like people who like music and stuff like that, even if they're like not a player or anything like that, they're just like, oh yeah, I still love this. And then it's just like you can get like people who are more into like the media side of things as well. You were just like everyone here is just like you've got one thing in common with everyone here. It's just you love music. You love metal music, So what's to be afraid of exactly? I think for me it's sort of like, yeah, I think sort of like the amount of positive energy you get out of, you know, meeting the people is just very rare, so I'm really great to be a part of it as well.
47 It's just amazing. It's just an amazing experience. Yeah, yeah, it's great. Well, I'm really glad that you're here at Bloodsuck. I think you're going to kill it. Thanks so much. Tell everybody how. They can connect with you guys on socials. Buy your merge because we can't listen to my show, and let's say, buy your merch okay, and anything else you got coming up that you want to know about. So we're on Instagram at withdrawn Dot band, so give us a follow on there. We're on all other platforms as well. TikTok you know nine Yards. You can check us out on Spotify. We released an EP this year called something in the Water. Yeah, give that a listen to. We got like what do we have on that? We've got Scared, Drought and Kind. You pick one you like, or pick all of them if you know you really really want to get into it. We've just got a lot more music coming. That's kind of the main thing.
34 It's just like this going to play here is like a combination of like two years hard work getting an EP out, you know, spending a lot of time writing the songs, making sure they're right, and yeah, just a lot more to come. It's an exciting time to beating with drawn, I think. Yeah, we've got two great band shirts, one's Kind one Scared. They are selling right in the merch stands up till seven pm, so hopefully you can find them and buy them off. And if you're like can you. Of course, And like I said, they can't listen to my show and let's say by your merchant. So thanks for being here at blood Sock and thanks for being on the Adventures of Pipe Man.
