04 Hi, you love then to censure. Wow for you you. This is the pipe man here on the Avengers pipe Man W four c Y Radio, and I'm here with I'm. Joe, the front man for Tempest S. I'm James, the guitar player. Nice. You kind of look like a guitar players. It's the hair, for sure. It's definitely the hair. For sure. You do remind me like like you could actually be in like Sabbath that man, Thank you so much you got that look. Oh then we need to talk about that a little bit. I would say I saw Ozzie with Randy Rhodes.

55 Oh, man, that's someone else, right. Not only bad, but in high school I had this history class that the history teacher was on leave, so the music teacher in the school was teaching this history class. And all we had to do the whole semester was one oral presentation. We can pick any subject we wanted. I picked Ozzie and Man after my own art, I got an a right. That was the easiest presentation I ever had to do. It's funny you say that. I had the same thing for college, where we had to do a spot on a band we liked, and of all the bands I picked eighteen year orobd me thought manor War was the one to go for it, so I'd be nice. And I've also got a distinction the equivalent of an A on that presentation because it was so easy.

43 It just flew straight off the tongue. See, and just like I do my interviews like you know, so I don't have script on notes because if you're doing metal interviews and you need that shit, you're not a metal head and you shouldn't be doing metal interviews. That's my viewpoint. You know, you should be a metal head to interview metal and metal bands. Absolutely, just just saying, so, how tell me about your journey here to our Bloodstock family. Okay, So we started in twenty twenty three, as every band does. We started from the bottom level. We we met, we jammed, we formed the band. We gigged and gigged and gigged, and in twenty twenty five we had done Metal to the Masses before and we decided to email Bloodstock to see if there was some alternative because we knew about the Yeager Stage which became the MP and we emailed and said, if you have a slot, if you think you like what we do send a few links and you know, let us know. Fast forward over a year later and they got back to us and said, boys, we have a slot if you're interested. And it was as simple as that.

45 We just keep Wow. Did that blow your mind? Getting that? Absolutely? As an unsigned band, as you know, to get an opportunity like this just means the wealthier. You know, you do this stuff for. Such a long time and you know, finally get an opportunity like that, it just beats everything up. And what do you think of Bloodstock now that you're here? In my opinion, best metal festival in the UK, and not not just because it's the biggest, but because the community is tried and tested. Its foundation goes back years twenty five years as we know, and much like a lot of the bands, it started from the ground up. I think the first one there were what a thousand people did? Memory? It was indoor, wasn't it two thousand and one? Yeah? If you had like Primal Fear playing you know stuff like that, it was just mental all indoor one day.

28 Yes, great, And I can tell you I do festivals all over the US, UK and Europe. This is one of my favorites and for one reason two reasons. Only one is we're like a family here. I got here. I'm American and I got here. I'm like I'm home with my family. Oh yeah, you know. And also I have yet in multiple years doing this festival to find an asshole. That's a good thing that happen. That's a fucking rare thing, especially only nowadays there's lots of. Assholes everywhere, everywhere, every. No doubt, So like, it's cool I can be here escape from the world and all the assholes and be with blokes like you that we could just fucking have a good time and have a chat, enjoy each other.

19 Sure. Yeah, absolutely, we're all here for the same reason. Man. That's that's the most important thing. If you acknowledge that you yeah, you'll have a great time. Exactly What was that one one moment in your life that you decide this is what you need to do. I mean, I think I wanted to do this since I was an eight year old. I just want to start picking up guitar, and it's just I listened to a CDC and I was like seeing your showing up there, you know, because little me thought I want to do that nice and over the years I can never imagine doing anything else. You know, I see honestly anything I ever want to do. And that's usually a common thread, Like there's people that want to play guitar or any instrument, and then there's those that that it's all they want to do.

01 Oh yeah yeah. And for me as a singer is I think the thing that tip the balance for me. A couple of years into my first you know, heavy phase of heavy metal, it was Judas Priest. I heard screaming for Vengeance. I heard the title track and I thought, wow, imagine having a voice like that that can soar over the guitars. Man, and that was it. I started trying to build myself that way, and I thought, you know what I want to do this. I want to sing, I want to enjoy myself, and I want to perform, and I want to give to people if I can, what I get out of this because it's such a great feeling. Man, And that was that was it for me. There's nobody like hell Fruit. Oh nobody, nobody, nobody, And he's playing later today. I can't wait. I will be front and center. Okay, I'm going to give you some intel about Layer today, but enough that you won't know what the intel is because I've seen pre since the early eighties, two of my favorite songs. I've watched them several times in the past several years. They have not played live at first balls that I've been at. I was at Bucking last week and they played both of them and they're like, one of them is like the best live song ever.

15 Yeah, now I'm excited. Now I'm excited. Might have some sad things of destiny stuff going that'd be great. We'll see, we'll see. I'm not going to reveal anything else that's it, just enough to make you realize, don't go take a piss. Absolutely, we will be there from the center. And I'm a personal big fan of Stained Class. You know, Oh that's a great Albumally. Lives in his Stained Class T shirt. Almost every photo of us on stage is wearing it. Gotta wear the stuff a lot, you know. Absolutely, Mite. I've got my Invisible Shield one on here now because you know that was the last time I saw them two years ago. It was phenomenal. Nice. So, who has been your favorite other band that you've seen here at the festival so far?

56 Oh? I mean, it's hard to say without the whole festival being done yet, I mean, and I really enjoyed the band before us on the MP stage canceled the transmission. The transmission. Yeah, they were excellent, they were really writing what they did, really rated it. I mean other bands are I mean Saxon as well. On the Thursday night, Oh my god, they wrecked me because I was in their pit. And I've had to do interviews all weekend and i haven't been able to breathe and my throat has been soured a whole time from the festival dust in the Saxon pit. But also I had a lot of fun in a circle pit with a bunch of dinosaurs to that day. Yes, yes, it was so much fun.

38 That's brilliant. We were still trying to figure out how to set up our tents. We were there in the artists camping with the with the ape man that we brought. We were told to bring everyone camp together, so we've got a big ten And then there was five minutes trying to put it. Up all at once. Oh my god, the struggles you go through, right, you do it for the love of the game, totally, How about you? What? Oh, very good question. I'm with James that canceled the transmission. They were they were excellent. I really enjoyed that. I enjoyed Whaling Banshie as well. We did our first gig of the year with them and that was that was nice to see them playing Bloodstock as well. And Bleed from is it bleed from. Within the Yes, Yeah, they played last night. They were fucking awesome and that's their biggest gig yet. Oh man, that's crazy, and they were fucking awesome.

26 They were phenomenal. Like our proof of this is how great Bloodstock is because it's always great bands, cool people, family, the nicest people that everybody looks out for. Everybody the whole world could learn a lesson from the Bloodstock family. Absolutely, going through to to where we're camps, it's right next to the crew and everything like that. There is so many people who you've maybe seen once or twice in passing on the first day, and by the end we've been saying hello to everyone. It has genuinely become I do feel like we've been absorbed into the family. It's just such a diverse metal festival. Man, you are so many different bands with such a different sounds. On Nothink there's something for everyone.

07 Yeah, and they can all get along instead of the gatekeeper bullshit gatekeeping. That that's my head in. Man, it's fucking ridiculous. Now it's rock and roll. Man, none of that exactly. You said, like Lemmy, that's the highest praise I've ever had. And we we went and visited Lemmy's ashes before we are we did a little pilgrimage. Yeah you needed that. He'll be with you on stage. Oh man. Yeah, it made me cry. Thing for the rest of the day now, no doubt. Shut up about it now right listen, look at the guards that come from here. Halford Lemmy Zie. I mean, I don't even think we have enough time for me the name or more.

52 Oh, it's crazy. I mean we're from half a two, which is where te Purple originally came from. Nice. You know, there's there is a lot of it from the UK. Man, I have something and there's one in every county because the metal in the. Water, well it's Americans, you know. When I was a teenager, that was the thing is ooh, the British heavy metal and the British punk both, Like I always wanted to come to the UK when it's a teenager because of the music scene here. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you guys had the Dictators as well, didn't you. Yes, we did. And I'm friends with Keith Roth oh man. That's crazy. What's sad about Ross? He passed away recently, didn't he. There's a lot passing away recently. It is sad.

32 It's coming to that time, unfortunately. But that's why I thank god we have bands like you to keep metal alive and going. It can't. It will never die out. It's it's a genre that evokes such emotion and motion is what sticks. It is like it is like an anchor. You know, best therapy there is, best therapy there is. That's why we're doing. Tell everybody how they reach out to you guys on socials and most importantly buy your merch because they can't listen my show. And let's say buy your merch, right, that's. The that's the entry criteria. So we're Tempest Saints everywhere. You can find us on Instagram, Facebook. I'm trying to think. Now, we've got our Spotify, Yes, Spotify, We've got our link tree, We've got everything.

13 Everything is. All you got to do is put it in Google. And it's one of them names that we come up first result. I think we chose our name fairly. Well oh yeah, yeah, it's quite it's quite distinct. So are you really saints though? No, no, no, yeah, I was gonna say, you don't look like you're real Saints. That's that's just all the festival dust Man. In the sunburn, Well, you guys are amazing. I'm glad you're here at Bloodstock. Thank you and thanks for being on the Adventures of pipe Man. Thank you for having us man. Thank you very appreciate it. Thank you, Thank you for listening to the Adventures of pipe Man. I'm w for CUI Radio.
