04 Hi, you have done to censure? Wow for you. Young, this is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four C Y Radio and I'm here with Sonny Vincent from the Limit here at Valking. Yes we are. Oh my god, have you guys played I even't looked, you know at who always played vodkas my first year at Vakin. Have you guys played vadkin before? We never played anywhere before we made an album and it turns out to be a really great hit somehow, and like they book this and fucking and uh, this is our first show.
51 Wow, that's pretty and I that the new album. Like on Apple Music, it's like all of them are your top songs, Like that's it's pretty wild that you come out when an album now and they're like probably your best music ever. It's it's working, it's working. So tell me how this album from your whole career of music, how it is, how you consider it like different or evolved from what you've done all your life? The first album scenario, Yeah, yeah, no, I don't want to.
38 Yeah. The first album we recorded in Portugal, and uh, it was the lineup was a little bit different, the energy was quite different and a lot of fighting, a lot of murderous glances, if you can say, and this is a lot more harmonious between the members. But the first album, even though the. Characters were. Rubbing against each other, the music was really easy. It just fell into place. And this one too, but the atmosphere is just better. Do you think it's because you have the right mixture of people right now at this stage?
20 Yeah, yeah, it's accidental that we have the right mixture and we're. Lucky, nice. And so I'm gonna ask you a really fake back question. What was that first moment in time in your life that you decide this is what you needed to do. Let's see, I was like I was walking home from school in three ladies on the front porch. I was like twelve, and you go, come on in here, boy, and they came. In and like I never had sex before, you know, and like these three ladies just kind of humped the shit out of me for like hours, and I thought, like like I either wanted like I don't know, I didn't. Then I went I was and I heard a song on the radio and it just all came together and I thought, this is for me, baby, that's so familiar.
05 Nice. It's kind of like when I walked into the Rainbow with Motley Crum was hanging out with Ron Jeremy and Lemmy, and I was getting there. I'm thirteen, getting their overflow of women. Like, if you're getting the overflow at thirteen of Motley Crue and Lemmy and Ron Jeremy, you're still getting the hottest women. I didn't. These were like three rotund, elderly sort of ladies and I was twelve, you know, so it's nothing like your scenario. There's no rockstar thing. It was down south, three ladies sitting on a porch drinking lemonade. Hey boy, come on in here. And I went in there and like they just showed me the ropes. You know, I appreciated it.
47 Nice. Nice. One story, good or bad in your whole musical career, What would it be besides that one, because that's a big story. I let loops. You got a story, Yeah, I got a story about us throwing first met uh we uh we're a different line up. And we got over to uh Portugal to record the album, and we were supposed to go out to some island and that didn't pan out, so we were told that we'd have separate hotel rooms, and uh we didn't. When we got to uh we were supposed to stay, it turned out that it was one apartment and there were three of us staying in the apartment and two beggars.
32 So we had a former member who kind of, I guess, got an upheaval. Yeah, he's pissed off, you know. I God, damn it. I got to sleep on the fucking couch. You know, and we some of you. I ran to the two bedders, you know, to take that. So h that prevailed all throughout the recording session. It seemed like there was a little bit of bitter medicine to this portion that they didn't agree with. Yeah, yeah, that was crazy situation. We came together, we had never met personally, but we talked a lot. And then I was trying to get plane tickets and it was before we were supported by a label, and so the plane tickets from from anywhere in the States to Portugal was like about three thousand.
17 Bucks each, you know, and holy shit, I. Didn't have that on hand, and it kind of gave up bumping out. One day, I was sitting on the couch and I thought, let me try again. I found three tickets, three hundred dollars each, all the way to Portugal and all the way back. But it was like a thirty eight hour journey. Wow, with cranky old bastards in the airport. We were twenty one years old. We'd be doing pirouettes, you know, in the airport. But this was terrible. Already. We did a radio interview in Portugal, the main radio place, right the hub, National Radio, and the guy I was in such a terrible mood, and.
57 I'm usually pretty calm, you know, you guys said, Sonny, how's it going. I go, really fucking bad, and go, what do you mean? I go, you don't have the hoo. They're together for thirty years and they start to hate each other. They hate each other. Smell they've been together too much. You know, we've been together for three days. We fucking hate each other. It was just horror. Wow. Well we pulled it off. We pulled it off. The music was the part that clicked. See, that's what it is. It's like that shows your true artists, because the music is what counts, and if you have the passion for the music, you can probably set aside a lot of the other crap. You know, and especially I mean. A little engine that could.
38 God that's my didn't name because I think I cannot think I can, And I kept my eye on the prize all these years, and I finally Sonny and I met up. We had some magic going right off the bat. Sonny and I always. Got along and comrades, you know, and almos and that kind of thing. So it really worked out all. Yeah. It is so important too, right, because you spend so much time I'm with each other that if you don't like each other, you're going to kill each other. Yeah. Me and Bobby we had. A lot of troubles at times because we're both used to running the ship, doing it our own way. But then along the way, you know. Like one thing after another, we realized, oh, I trust this guy, you know, and it's like we developed a good trust, the basic platform to depend on.
26 Yeah. It's hard to depend on someone else, you know when you're like, I've been a Pennyburn for. Fifty five years now. Yeah, I've always. Kind of been at the helm of things, and I'm the only original Tisting member still and we're still trudging on and doing things, you know, and really enjoying more success than we ever have. Really see that and that's so cool too, right, like when you could go that long. That's that's something that's a testimony. Perseverance is the key to success. I'm a big believer in that because I'm also on my facial speaker and I'm all about persistent and perseverance. Doors. That's all exactly, and that's what you need in this business. Door, yeah, exactly, exactly.
09 Until somebody opens up totally. Totally, and that it is what it takes, like in this business more than any other. You know. You take a band that's still around today, they went through a lot of crap to get to the price, you know, and most people give up before that happens. Of course, exactly think that you know, you're. Gonna shoot this rock stardom thing or whatever and it's going to be an overnight sensation. Yeah, and you start learning along the way, you know, these trials and tribulations they really start getting to you get under your nails, you know, and or you know what you pulong the ground.
49 You know, yeah, totally people on scratching, you know. But here you are at Vokking now, you know, and it doesn't get much bigger as far as a festival than this, okay, or it doesn't get any bigger. Actually, yeah, thank god we have good weather for you today, you know, because yeah, last year was a disaster weather wise, but this year it's perfect. Lay here in twenty twenty three offender and it was a mud bet. I could not believe that to turn away fifty thousand people. Or anything like that. Yeah, I mean it was really much. Yeah. Yeah, I have a lot of those in the States, Like I just did Welcome to Rockville. Three out of the four days we were evacuated. The one I did last week evacuated. Wow, like it's it's it's amazing what us metal heads actually endure for everything.
50 Yeah, metal heads are. Pretty about seventy Yeah, absolutely so thank you. This is Sonny Vincent coming at you from Germany and coing to Amsterdam in. A couple of days. We love you. We love you so fucking much like we tongue kiss you until you're just common. And this is Bobby, he loves you too. Tell him you love him, Bobby, Bobby Leveling, and I love all. Yeah, I love you more than Bobby loves you. No, no, no, no, I love you, guys more than Bobby Well, I love you part time, Bobby loves you full time. Okay, okay, all right, question what is the essence is like a beautiful Oh no, Joe, okay for real?
38 Yes, the moment is uh, camaraderie and learning to give and take. I think, because we've got to do that a whole lot. And you learned that you can team up with someone and make your work. You've come through another pot watch, I think, yeah, And it's it's a lot to do with. Attitude and letting the has happen as organically as possible without a lot of floor. Planning, you know. Yeah, when you plan too much, you go through the floor totally overplanning and overthinking it. That creates distress because there's too much that could go wrong. Impulsive thing anyway, take it from the heart, from the gut, and from some other places.
24 Thank you, Danny, thank you everybody, Thank. You and thank you for being on the Adventures of Pipemin Something. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of Pipelin on w for CUI Radio.
