In this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman interviews Louie from Walk With Titans, who has just released some new music on Rock Shots records. Pipeman and Louie discuss the impact of the pandemic on their creative process, with Louie explaining how the restrictive sanitary measures in Quebec made it difficult for them to produce the album. Louie shares how they recorded the vocals in a studio, while everything else was recorded by himself and Nick, the other guitar player. They also talk about how the pandemic made it challenging for the band to play together in the same room, which they only recently started doing.
Despite the challenges, Louie shares how the band was able to create great music despite being physically apart. Pipeman comments on the chemistry that's missing when musicians are not together in the same room, and Louie agrees, but adds that they were able to create a connection with the songs even though they were not physically together. Pipeman also points out that Louie's band's experience of starting during the pandemic is a unique story that they could share in the future.
The interview concludes with Pipeman asking Louie about the new album and what fans can expect from it. Louie talks about the album's sound and how it's a blend of different genres, including metalcore and post-hardcore. He also encourages listeners to check out the album, which is now available on Rock Shots records.

0:00 Hey, you love them too? Sure, I'm I'm four s why for you? Wake up America. It's time for the Adventures of Pipe Man on W four CWY dot com. West pom Beach is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man on next time Rodom to me, time to play this bud Flight and now the City Shop six shins time, Bolly nice Ssta mean to Pi. This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe MANW FOURCY Radio. And I'm here with our next guest, who has some killer new music that you're going to want to check out. It's being released on rock Shots Records. So let's welcome to the show. Louis from Walk with Titans. How are you pretty good about yourself? I'm doing amazing. You know, we got some new music from you guys, so that makes it a good day. Yeah, thanks you, thank you.
1:23 We try to do the best. You work on this during the pandemic, and well it got us true to be honest, So I'm glad a lot of people gets to enjoy it. See I love hearing that because you know, there's been a lot of different ways people took the pandemic. And I always said if you were going to pull. One positive thing out of the pandemic is that we're going to get some of the best music we've ever had because artists like you had a chance to get off the hamster wheel and actually create and take their time and make the music you really want to make. Yeah, it took us more time. Actually, we were about to where we're started doing for production and writing it. But like here in Quebec, like the measures, the sanitary measures, they got pretty bad. So I even had to hide when we were recording the vocal because we weren't allowed to be there was the producer. We went to a studio only for the vocals.
2:27 I recorded everything else by myself on my place and with Nikki my the other the guitar player, and I had to we had a curfew and we got to the studio and we had a protocol in between the trios that I had to hide if somebody was to knock on the door or something. Wow, that's rock and roll right there. Okay, Yeah, that's like, that's actually a pretty cool story. We've sucked, but it's a pretty cool story to have. Yeah, well it fucked, but we made it true and we got back home at the at the good time, which is crazy. And while me and my singer Joe, we were like writing the music.
3:10 And you know, some music you can do it over the phone over like chat, and but sometimes you save so much more time doing it, like with the other guy sitting in front of you, truing I he's like ping pong, And what you can do in an hour usually do it takes two weeks. So me and Joe got together anyways, and like I was like, all right, if somebody knocks on the door, you gotta you gotta go in the back door and hide outside. So anyway, that's so cool. I mean, it's not really cool when you're the person ever to do it, but from the outside look at it like that's just a cool rock and roll story. But you know it's true though that I think the thing missing when not together is that vibe, that chemistry that really creates the great music. You know, it's it's it's different, right, Yeah, it's yes, of course, but we never had that actually, but we do have a chemistry. We're all good friends, but and we write music really well. But we were very like until very recently, we were never in the same room together, like there was the pandemic. And before the pandemic, when we formed the band, we had our first bass player, but we had no drummer. Then we got to WE when then when we got we, we got Joe first or singer, and then the pandemic struck
4:45 and then when we had Or, we had to have a session drummer, and Nicole came in like until like it's been four months it's been with us, so we've started jamming. Well it's been since December, so now we get to experience the connection with the songs. Yeah, but we wish we we we we were able to do that way before that, but it was impossible. Now think about it though, like twenty thirty years from now, you're playing some huge shows somewhere and you have the story of how you had to start through the pandemic, like nobody, it would be like unreal to people, you know. Yeah. Yeah, So, so tell us a little bit about the music for those that have never heard you guys before.
5:36 Tell us about the new album. What people can expect when, why they should listen to it. Well, it's pretty much straightforward power metal, you know, Like so for we we all listen to power metal Prague and stuff, and but like, let's say, let's let's make a band. Let's make an album that's like straightforward, like eural power metal style, and let's be geeks and go all the way. So we found subject which we like and is quite epic, which is Greek mythology. And let's put all of our influences like bands we like such as Strato Varius, Rhapsody of Fire, and like, let's go all in. And that's what we did. And I think it's hard to pinpoint we don't sound like another Man per se, but you can't hear the influences from bands such as Blind Guardians, Armor Fall, and Strato Varius. That's what we listened to and we had we had a blast. It kept us saying, like I said in the Pandemic writing that, well that's the keyword right there, having a blast, because if you're not having a blast building this, you're in a run business. Yeah.
6:51 Quite honestly, I gotta say, we like to play fast, so power metal is a style that we can't exploit that And I love like that you're talking about Greek mythology, because first of all, I love Greek mythology, but I'm always in awe of writers like you that like can create this music out of these stories. And I mean it's just it's so in that's to me, the creativity anybody can just pick up and write a song that makes no sense or is not connected to anything, but something like that that comes from literature. I think literature and music go hand in hand. Yeah, it does. It does. I also think that. But it's cool.
7:35 You gotta have a story, I think, a story to tell, and actually the story is already written for us. But it's how we can write about how we see him, how they connect to our time. Like we get a song on the album it's calledge of Time, and in the chronos is a titan. We can represent time in a way. He swallows this children. It's a bit like it's the time father Time will always gets us. It swallows all of its children, you know. Yeah, So that's how we can and what you do with the time you have here. So that's what this song is about. But you can somebody can listen to it and say, oh, it's about something else. But all the other songs are a bit more like, all right, there is this myth, and it's about this myth. So we relate a story that's already been written.
8:28 So sometimes when we we there's a lot of subjects to exploit, so we don't have to scratch our heads too. And it's always hipich I think, yeah, And I mean it just goes to show, like to me, writing a song as a talent in and of itself. It's funny because I was just talking about this the other day. I'm a writer and I did write one song. But the problem is, Okay, my friend who who has a musician stuff like that. I went to him, I'm like, here, make this into a song. For me, It's like, what the hell is this? It's a book. And what I'm saying is is for somebody like me who is a book writer, you know you're you're writing a book. It's so different than writing a song. So taking literature and writing it into a song, to me is a major talent in and of itself. Like I couldn't do it. My friend did it. He narrowed it down and made it into the structure of a song. I made it into a book. Yeah, that's I think that's the thing that musician we know we have Like, well, maybe that doesn't apply to Prague musician, but like people who write five minute song, we have to like, you know, you got five minutes to tell the story, but there's a book about the story. Yeah, so make it quick and keep the essentials.
9:52 That's right, that's right. You know it's funny too because you know Metallic they just released their newest album and on there has the longest song they ever did. And that's pretty interesting. You know you're saying about Prague because I think musicianship and longer songs is actually kind of making a comeback. I'm glad about this because we well, the second album is already pretty much written. For on our part, we're like, we got we got seven songs pretty much written. We got like one more in one intro and they might they might. They may be there's gonna be a long song, but we're not sure about the length of it. But it might be the double digits.
10:35 This one there you go. Yeah, Well, Mattauka's song I think clocked in at like eleven minutes somewhere around eleven. Yes, are you going to listen to it? To listen to the album. Yeah, it's the last song on the new album. So all right, so they finish it off with a long song. Well that's the way to do it, I think exactly. There you go. So a Limp in Dystopia out on May twenty six. How do people connect to you guys on socials? How do people get the album? Check out your merch or whatever you have. How do they do that?
