04 Hey, you love them two? That's sure why you wake up America. It's time for the Adventures of Pipeman on w FORCY dot com West Pong Beats his number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man Shoot state a homesick feck. This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures Pipeman W forc Y Radio. And I'm very excited about our next guest because number one, she is from near my hometown, right across the lake, and so that's cool and a lot of great music comes out of there as well, and she's no different. So let's welcome to the show via crow.
12 How are you? I'm good? How are you good? So you know, it's funny you're from Asbury and Asbury's the cool place to be now. But when I lived in Ocean Township, you didn't want to cross the other side deal lake into Asbury. And it's pretty cool what they've done there, especially since when I was a kid it was the cool place and then it became a bad place, and now it's the cool place again. Yeah, it's truly such like it's such a great atmosphere to be in now. It's full of creativity of so many amazing people. I'm there every day writing music, whether it's by the peach or just sitting on a random sidewalk and just being creative every day. So I love it there nice And then you know the infamous Stone Pony is there, so that's cool. And actually Bruce lives right across the street from our studio in Florida now and I used to live in Jersey, but now he's here. Yeah, we have a gym that it's it's change hands now, so I don't know if he goes anymore in our plaza, and he used to work out at the gym all the time.
25 He's actually really cool. But it's funny. I remember back in the day girlfriends of mine used to sneak on his property to watch him walk around in his underwear. Oh my gosh. You know how that goes with Jersey girls and Bruce Sprittenstein. That's kind of how it goes. Oh yeah, So tell us a little bit about you as an artist. How would you describe you're our to our listeners? And I don't mean like a genre, because I hate how artists are blocked into a genre. Tell us a little bit about how you see your music. So I just started the songwriting world during COVID, so I'm very new to this. I was a cover artist for a long time playing gigs, and I wanted to start writing my own And some of my influences are, of course Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, Snail Mail, and I like to say with my music, I anything, I'd like to be so honest with my listeners, Like that's the one thing, like I will be very vulnerable about what I have to say because I want girls my age to be able to relate to my music and just experiences that are happening. And being seventeen, yeah, like a crazy age to be at. So it's definitely just it's been crazy writing about so many things
00 going on. So yeah, yeah, what a crazy age to be during COVID, because I don't know, I think about it like if I had to deal with COVID while I was a teenager, that would have sucked to be blunt, you know. And and then as for an artist, it's really cool what you said, because I have been saying for a long time that some of the best music we're ever going to get is going to come out that COVID time because you know, of the fact that artists get to literally slow down, get off to hamster wheel and evaluate their music and where you're going with it, and tell me, is that what happened to you is basically you had that lockdown time and it's like, well, now you start thinking about getting CRIBB and decided now I should just be writing my own music. Yeah, that's pretty much I would say how it went because I started just writing like little stupid little songs or little blurbs, and like poems.
09 I loved writing poetry. And I'm like, you know what I need to put two things. I love writing and I love music. And I'm sitting at home. When you're sitting at home with so many thoughts you have going on in your head and you have so much time on your hands, you have that creative space to be able to be yourself and just work on your craft. And I feel like there's definitely pros and cons about COVID, but that's at least one good thing I got out of it, true story. And you know, the thing is being at your age during this time in the world, especially our country, there is definitely a lot to write about in music. Like you go back to say the sixties, seventies, eighties, nineties artists had a lot to say, but if you combined all those times, they didn't have as much to say as you would now with everything that's going on, for sure, Oh my gosh, yes, because even just like experiences now that I'm still experiencing, like with people, I'm just like, of course you're going through breakups, you're going through losing friends, a bunch of becoming an adult, trying to get your life together, and just there's so many things, and like COVID definitely made that like kind of like mind shift on me because it was you were at home and then now you have to go socialize with these people you haven't seen for years,
41 you grew up going to school with, and now you just had to like find a way to deal with that and people change over of course two years of being stuck in your house. So that's definitely what has been going on. Oh yeah, you know, like I think about when I was in high school. If I was in high school during COVID, I probably would have totally changed courses sooner than I did because of what you just said, Because like I left my high school town when I went to college and you know, I got away from all my high school friends, and I remember three years later, I went back and visited all my high school friends that I hung out with twenty four seven, and I was like, I don't even know how I hung with these people, like I was. We were in such different planes at that point that it was so different. So I I could imagine that if it happened to me in high school would be like, instead of hanging out with these people for school, COVID would probably made me realize that much sooner, and I didn't, and I would have totally changed my path. And like, even I've just discovered these tough couple of months playing gigs in Asbury and whatever, and meeting so many people of all different ages, in different stories and them talking to me and having just some great conversations, and knowing that high school is just the season in your life.
13 It's not forever, and you need to start, like me, making connections now with these people in Asbury and the community welcoming me with such open hands. There's nothing more I can ask for than just the great community they formed there for anyone. So it's so funny that you should say seasons because Metallica just came out with a new album called seventy two Seasons and it's basically about the first eighteen years of your life, or like seventy two seasons. Oh my gosh, yes, yes, I actually that's so funny. I didn't even I remember. They just did so right, And it's so wild because you do think about man, I think of those first eighteen years and we all think like that's the way we're be the rest of our life, and these experiences are like the highlight of our life, and we realize that's it's just like a little spec of what's about to come and just my message, like I'm putting my um my single comes out tomorrow, my debut single.
20 So it's my first time I'm putting any kind of music out on any platform. And the music I'm putting out, it's for girls who are younger than me, girls who are struggling, people who need some to someone to tell them you'll get through it and you'll be okay. And breakups, I know suck, and friends losing friends suck, but it will be okay. That's the whole message I'm trying to get across. I think that's amazing because I think girls have a much tougher time during high school and than guys do, like with with a lot, Like I have daughters, so I saw it and I was like, you know, even the thing of getting into arguments with your friends, like guys in high school, you'll get in an argument, you'll beat the crap of each other, and then you'll go play baseball or something. And I found with my daughters that's not the case with girls, Like they get into fight and it lasts all through high school.
22 Yes, oh yes, And that is how it is because even if it's the smallest thing that happens, it can affect so many people can turn their back on you, which is crazy, but it's just being I've noticed you have to be you, to be comfortable with yourself before you can start caring for other people. In high school, you need to put yourself first. You need to make sure you're doing okay, because that's the most important. Just putting your mental health first is just priority because you're dealing with school work, you're doing dealing with friends, dealing with all this stuff. But you have to check in with yourself and be like, hey I'm doing all right, or hey I need I need to talk to someone, so no doubt, and I definitely think like there's a lot more that you, you guys, as girls have to go through through those high school years that uh support from somebody like you. Because to me, music is the best therapy there is for the artist and for the listener. And I think these girls need somebody like you because it's I think it's tougher for girls and guys to get through those high school years. There's so much that goes on. Yeah, it's it's so hard because like I have even like even before I started writing my music, I have been I've gravitated towards of course um uh snamml like
54 I love the beachy vibe music and like all that kind of genres. But I've been really trying to my goals is just finding music that is gonna be like just music therapy, like somebody can listen to and be like, Okay, I'm sitting in my car trying to calm down. There's one there's a lyric in one of my songs I'm putting out for the album, and it's you have to readjust breathe and grief. I chose those three words because there's so much in that can so much in those three words that just have so much meaning towards it because it's just like, hey, I'm good, Hey, I'm gonna I have to greathe through all the situations I'm going through and just adjust with myself. And that's that's one of my favorite lyrics I've written because it even helped me when I sing it, I'm just like, hey, I'm doing all right. I love it. I love it. And the name of the single Synthetic Feel, And as soon as I saw that, I was like, man, is so twenty twenty three. I mean the title just describes it all right and what's going on right now? Yeah?
09 Yeah, that's getting the title. It all started with I was just I was so it was basically it has to be about COVID because it was just like of course being talking to It's like this song I wrote could go for either a friendship, a relationship, anything like that, and it's just like about any kind of like relationship with the person being like it's the stake are you kind of using me? I'm gonna try to be there for myself in the end of the song, like I'm gonna that I'm here for myself, not for um the toxicity you're putting out. So that's it's and it's just a more fancier word for fake. So I like the sound of synthetic feel, so no doubt I think social media eral as much as I use it is totally synthetic feel. So yeah, social media, like it's the platform could be great for us as artists, any kind of creative space, but there's definitely a lot of toxic stuff I see on there, and I could be I could end up on TikTok and be scrolling for an hour and be like, why am I still on this app? I'm like, I need to limit myself. So I'm trying to very much so limit myself to all my social media, but still put my music of course on my platforms and promote it and make it a platform for anyone. But it's just yeah, social media, it's it's kind of it's a scary place in twenty twenty
41 three. There's a lot of I could see some not some comments. I see a lot of a lot of drama, so try to steer my way from that. But yeah, even TikTok okay, So during COVID, TikTok wants to escape from the toxicity of Facebook, and it was it was all fun and everything and everybody was real nice and supportive, and now it's been diseased like every other social media. It's it's so unfortunate, Like and don't get me wrong, there is so many TikTok I be. I will be scrolling on TikTok and find a new artist who only has five likes on their video and be like, how are you not blowing up? You have?
26 You are so talented, and like there's so many and then I'll scroll to the next video and it's it gets too political, or it's being rude to a girl who just posted a video, and that's where I'm like, why do we have to cross that line? This is supposed to be like a place for everyone, and it's that's not how it is. That's not how life is either. But I don't get it at all, to be honest. It's like, just the other day I was saying something in my daugh I'm like, you know, it used to be entertaining to go on tick talk, and now it's just a bunch of people being mean, nasty, and you know, like nobody's doing the TikTok dances any warned or just going on and talking crap, you know. But yes, artists, that's the best part of it because artists. I see artists are blowing up because of TikTok talk too, so that's the positive side. Yes, there's definitely yeah pros and cons with TikTok because there I remember twenty twenty Fresh TikTok's out and I'm like, this is the coolest apps. Everybody's just posting same dancing videos, people are coming up with dances, people are just being happy. And that was right when covid hit, so everybody was just like this a cool app and whatever. And then after covid was done, that's when I really started to see a shift in TikTok and still with Instagram as well, but solely TikTok because everybody's like, now they're going about doing their life things.
56 They don't really care about anything on TikTok a or they're just posting what they want to say and don't care anymore. So crazy, it is totally well, your TikTok's pretty cool, so people have to check that out. So why don't you tell everybody how they can reach out to you on socials how they can get there your single and all that good stuff. Yeah, So it's gonna be on all streaming platforms. On my Instagram is via Eugenie Crow um and I'm on TikTok and Instagram and yeah, I'm gonna be on all platforms. My debut single comes out tomorrow. I have some shows if you're in the Asbury area, I'm going to be playing, um a lot of shows this summer. So I'm very excited. Yeah, and stay tuned for the album announcement coming to soon as well. I'm very excited love it.
52 Any final words you want to leave our listeners with, if you're a teenage girl right now and need something, if you need just any kind of words to help you get through any kind of situation you're getting through, check out my music because I hope it will be able to help you. And that goes for anyone. So peace and love, and thank you so much for having me on Hey My pleasure, and those are great words because that's what music's all about, and so thank you for that, and thank you for being on the Adventures of Pipe Man. Yeah, thank you so much.
33 Thank you for listening to the Adventures of pipe Man on W four CUI radio
