04 Hey, you listen to such sure, I'm for see why you wake up of America. It's time for the Adventures, So Pite Man on W four cydi com West pom Beats, his number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man. I'm a la we have to check. This is Pite Man here on the Adventures Pykee Man w for c Y Radio.
53 And I'm here with our next guest, who is an absolute legend that just came out with brand new music a few days ago. I'm very excited about it. So let's welcome to the show, Ludo Dirk Schneider. How are you? Yeah, Hello, I'm fine, thinking, man might everything good? So far? Everything's great, especially this new album. I was listening to it over the weekend and man it is a banger. Yes, I think we are also very happy with the d album and also the reaction so far a very very good soul. But more so, how does it feel right off the bat to be playing again with Peter Ooh yeah, I think it's a lot of fun. It's nice to have him also on stage, booking together with him. I mean yeah, it's like you never wind away, I know, right, It's weird. How time goes. You know, you and I have been around a while, and it seems like you just wake up one day and you blinked and thirty years forty years just disappeared.
00 Yes, in a way, I remember that first time I heard your music way back in the eighties, and man, I hear this new album, I'm like, it's it's like deja vu. You know, same badass ref same great music, and it's just it's timeless, your your music. Yeah, I mean so, I mean I think it's also a reason, you know why this album came out like this, you know, a little bit more aggressive, you put. I think there are two things I came together. You know, the classics stuff that we always did, that's the ground, but also let's say more modern arrangements on top, and that's you know, there are two things are coming together. And I think it's also like about I mean, of course, like young people wrong, like my son, it's getting curty guitar player curgery. You have a guitar player of forty, I mean a really young generation. They're thinking different, you know.
59 So, I mean, of course we have a lot of also situations. You know what you can hear also on the album also on Three Stones. The lyricalise is like isolation man, it's about Corona. What we had for two pandemic pandemic for nearly two years, so there was nothing going on. And then we had the flat that was like the house of my son was completely gone by a flood, you know. And they got just a Branview studio where we want to work in. But everything go on. And then of course we had this situation with our guitar player Andre. I mean he was living he was living in Ukraine for over ten years and so and that the thing was to get him out there, but not so easy.
46 But finally how he lived in Germany and it vidit the Southern fight for your rights, you know. So they had a lot of things on this album. They are real, yeah, and I see I love that because I think that's the one thing about metal and hard rock is the music is real. The lyrics are real. You know. It's not this bubble gum stuff. It's real issues that we're dealing with, and then everybody's dealing with where it's cathartic for you as the artist to get these things out, but also us as the listeners. We can relate and it makes us feel better and get through all these crazy times we're in. Oh yeah, I mean if we're living yet a moment in really quzy times, you know. And I mean, father, it's like when you watch the lyrics, for example, I mean we always like looking atround what's going on. You can watch the news and then you have already had some ideas for you you Lewis you know, so, I mean, yeah, it's a good thing for us to write lyrics and also like vocals. I did this now together with my son already for two years or two albums or the lyric wise and yeah, it's also like you know, he came up with some ideas, Daddy, can you sing it? Maybe like this and this? You know. It's also very interesting for me, and I think the most important thing is in this band. It's like, you know, everybody is open minded, nobody has an ego. We are working together, you know, and that's the most important thing. And it makes a lot of fun that that's key what you just said right there, because I think that's the downfall of most bands over
20 the long haul is ego. Ego. Yeah, I know me right, yeah, the room, I know right, And I love what you said. About you have like different decades of people, age groups in the band. And it's cool about that is then you have the ability to appeal to all people, all ages, you know, and different thought processes, like I know how it is with my kids and say, I'm sure with you it's like what I still think is cool. They may think something different and want to and want to do something differently that maybe worked in it didn't win have worked in the eighties, but what worked in the eighties may not work now. So you have to have that fine mixt of everything. Yeah, that's a good thing, you know. And I think especially also what I think at the moment is this new album, but we this on the did on this new album. You know, I think I'm looking already for the next album, you know, so that shows us that we on the right direction, that you can be more doing more some things. You know.
34 Maybe you know you never said may in the earlier this, I don't think so, but now it's open up to so many things, you know, And I mean definitely. Also, the next album is always okay we're talking about it. I mean, it's will be also very interesting, you know. When when Peter is alto back on in some more, I tham on the next album. You know, he did just the based on on this new album, but also the thing on touchdowns, you know, I mean, Peter heavily his own sided true to play the bass, you know, and he said okay, feel free and then yeah, I mean also I think the gift, the whole the bass playing of Peter was also pushing the thing alto a little bit more forward. You know. He's a really I mean a really really great base player. I know that. And I love that you talked that way about him and that you just let him have free reign because there's a lot of bands in history that the bassis is kind of like in the background or you know, not taken as seriously, and I think it can totally change the sound of a band like you take a band like Iron Maiden. Steve Harris is the sound of Iron Maiden, you know, in my opinion, you know, yeah, you're true, I agree, you know so, And I think that's what Peter brings the table is you know, there there's a distinct sound there that comes from a great basis that you can't duplicate, you know, And I think that's great that also that you realize, Hey, let everybody do their part and everybody contributes,
09 and that's the recipe. Yeah, and I mean it's also your note. I mean, I think always the motor of the band is the drums and the bass, you know. And it's also very interesting. I mean, Peach is also now sixty six, you know, my son is thirty. But they are looking together. I mean also a life. Wow. What can I say, only wow, you know, and it's perfectly you understand each other, and I don't know, you know, I don't know. It's very interesting, it's amazing. And listen, Touchdown is definitely it's not like somebody that's been doing music for four years that just puts out an album. This is innovative, it's new, it's fresh. I mean, it's like listening to your music from the first time all over again. Yeah.
56 Yeah, I mean it's yeah. I mean even what I could take already in the beginning. I mean, I'm really happy with the new album now, and then opened up so many things for us for the future, you know, to go more forward with some different things. But of course the basic Okay, I cannot change my voice right always, like the trade made, I don't think we why I changed the voice. But yeah, I mean so, I mean definitely music ones, and that would be a lot of opportunities. I think I'll tell you what was wild to me too, because I just got back recently from a flight from the UK for doing Bloodstock, and that my neighbor on the plane, the guy sitting next to me, he plays in the European Football League, not soccer, but American football, which I didn't even know existed, Okay, And then and then I get the promo for your new album. I'm like, wow, I didn't know Europe had such a fascination. We're American football. Usually it's like regular football. Yeah, no, I mean yeah, I mean now we're getting more and more popular here, you know, and also in Europe. I mean now we have a commercial TV station. They know, they put football on, you know, as a really really important sports you know. And yeah, but I mean it was also not planned, you know, we had these uh we didn't have an idea how we want to name the album,
31 you know. And then we were sitting in Brazil on the South American tour on at the airport, at the sports bar, and there was American football going on. And then obviously heard this this word touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, and then we said that's the title for the album. It fits together with the music. You know, this this sport is also powerful, you know, it's it's it's a people are staying together and whatever and yeah, and then we said it, look if it's for the music, and also you can say we're also lending with our music. You know, we make a touchdown. So absolutely, and he will go and you certainly have scored a touchdown with this album. And I love that there's so many different products people have to check out for the album for vinyl, and like, there's so many cool ways to get the album. Let's tell everybody how they can now that it's dropped. It dropped on the twenty five, how can they get the album and all the different vinyl and different special packages and how they connect to you guys on socials, the web, get your merge all that other great stuff. Yeah, I mean you can go to our website, you know, then you find everything on the Udeo dot com. I think it's it's thet or you can go on Facebook, Instagram, you know, and go on Atomic fire on the website and you needn't find everything what you need and you're butt it. I think they dereforely should. And I
05 love that vinyls coming back and we have all all things for vinyl because I mean that was always such an experience, like just saying, with an album, and it's the whole experience. It's not just listening to music. It's the artwork, like we have behind me, the artwork for the album, which is really cool. And and then just like it's like a whole journey you take when you're going through an album. Yeah, I mean, it's it's good to see that it's a big revival form for Windo. You know, unbelievable. I mean right, it's unbelievable. Also here in Germany and it's like wow, you know, and yeah, so it's good. I mean also I have I don't knows on the vinyl tier and some of you know, I have also things that I can play this, you know, and yeah, I think the song for me, it's warmer, okay, but anyway, yeah, I agree, it is a warmer sound. So you can get in CD. You can get there's a limited box set available also Atomic Fire Records and Yellow Green Splatter Vinyl. Actually that one's sold out.
16 And then you have nuclear blasts as the purple black dust vinyl EMP and the red clear black dust vinyl UH two times op in gatefold and the following variants black silver, clear, yellow, green, clear blue, purple black, red, clear clear black. So I mean, listen, it's like being in a candy store. Yeah, but I mean it, you know, I mean, I think there's a reason why a record company is doing that at the moment. You know, the people really want to have this, you know, collect it also. I mean the really heavy friends, you know, they really want to collect everything. Yeah, it's good for us. I'm gonna mean, yeah, I don't have any problems with them, but that we have so many items around, you know. Yeah, And I gotta tell you, I am looking forward to like you already talking about the new album. It just it blows my mind that you just keep on playing out great music. I'm looking forward to the next one, and I'm still enjoying this one. Yeah, I mean so, yeah, I know. I mean differently, now we have some couple of festivals left here in Europe, and then it looks like ninety second. Pretend that we go to America and Canada from the beginning of November until the middle of December.
39 So I'm really looking forward to this. You know, I didn't been in America and Canada with Judio for a long time. Yeah, and it is great that we have live music back because there's no replacement for live music. So I can't wait to see you live and see these new songs live. It's going to be a blast. Thank you for always giving us such great music over what like forty years now. It's just blows my mind. And I think I told you last time we talked about my story of how I found out about you. I was going to an Ozzy show at night and then turns out my next door neighbor was Ozzie's promoter. I never knew it, and invited me in his studio. He handed me this cassette and it was you and it wasn't even He's like, this band's gonna be big.
31 They're not even in the States yet. And I remember, Okay, So I was good friends with Dan Spitz from Anthrax and he was like when I listened, when we all listened to that, me and all the Big four Thrash, they were like, it was before there was a thrash. Your music was the first thrash music ever, is what he said, Like that was the first thrash music ever, and that that is what really shaped bands like Anthrax, Metallic, Magadath and to play thrash metal. Yeah, I know, I mean we inspired a lot of bens. You know, I found that later on, you know, but then it's like also for a temple, Also what the cool ducing I mean I don't know. Also money many me events from from from Europe, you know, hello, been running wild rage. I mean, I don't know. Well, it's like wow, I know, right, it's kind of weird to think of it that way because especially you go back to back then you're a kid and you're like, you're just doing this for fun. You never imagine that here we are talking about this forty years later, yes, I mean also familiar taking me away of miracle. You know, I never thought that still after forty years, I mean nearly fifty years that before something. Yeah, that I'm still doing that, you know, I mean it's amazing. You know. That
03 means in a way you can say you did something right and yeah, and doing it with your son and making like the family business, because how many sons want to be in a band with their dad. That says a lot. Yeah, yeah, I mean so everything, what can I say? I mean, it's still fun to do it, you know, and that's the most important thing that you have fun to do this. You know that, and that's okay, and that's yeah. Still it is fun for me. And I don't know, you know a lot of people also asking me already what you think about retiring. I said, uh no, definitely nothing for me, just teach home, just drinking coffee, and I don't know, no, no, no, And you know, if it's fun, well I retire. You know. It's kind of like I go on to her and to all these music festivals and my kids are like, oh man, and I'd never do what you do, and I'm like, yeah, I can imagine not doing it. It's like, you know that they might want to tell me to slow down, and I'm like, yeah no, so yeah, here we go and then yeah, it's good to you know.
12 And I don't know. Maybe my son always said that I think you can do it for another to yous yep t there you go, and I hope you do. And I think you can. And man, if if anything's a sign that you can it's this album Touchdown. It's probably one of your best works ever and I love it. Thanks for giving to us, and thanks for being on the Adventures of pipe Man. Okay, thank you very much. Singing a futio and you listen to pipe Man watsy why Radio.
