04 Hey, you love them too? Sure, I'm for see Wow you wake up America. It's time for the Adventures. So pipe Man on W forcy dot com Westpong Beaches number one internet radio station. Here's your host, The White Man by its pipe Man here on the Adventures pie Man W for c Y Radio and I'm here with Traverse the Abyss. What's up? How are you doing on this Saturday? Oh man, it's louder than life? How can it be bad? Right? Absolutely so? How has your experience been here at leard in Life so far? For you guys, so far pretty incredible. We played in the midday on Thursday around three thirty, which initially we're like, I wonder how many people were going to come out, but we ended up drawing a pretty nice sized crowd to one of the backside stages.

19 Nice and we have extremely positive reception. Joel from Metal Injection had a nice article in the day one review for us. Very cool as well as there's a requested enough that we're going to perform in the campground tonight after Revenge plays for all the campers and stuff. That's more fun. No, it's it's all. It's all of it because we're here to entertain and make memories. I love it. So tell our listeners who have never heard your music before, how you guys, as artists, would would express your music, how you would give them a picture of it. A lot of times we're getting, especially recently, we've been getting compared to like as I lay dying with Black Dallia murder Child. Joel wrote that we have the reminiscence of early days suicide silence. So it thought it's breakdown savvy. It's intense, but the live show is what captivates it. Because if you want to listen to everything, Christine, you know, there's the CDs and Spotify, but getting that live experiences where we really shine because we're at heart all entertainers. So we lay it all on the line. They climbing each other's shoulders and everything, and we try to match the intensity of our music by just a full out release on our part. Nice and Yeah, there is no substitute for live music. Absolutely, that's when you tell when band is really good.

44 Because anybody can sound good in the studio, get up on stage and sound good. That's a whole other world. Absolutely, there's definitely times and you know you hate to see it. But there's times you really want to see a certain band and then they start playing and it like, oh man, they're having like they have the computer troubles and then all of a sudden, now they can't perform. Like we are as bare bones raw, we're a little strange. We use three guitars so like one could stay locked in with the bass for rhythm while to accentuate like harmonies or vice versa. When we need to get really bass to the wall heavy, you have two guitars just punching in the face while like Michael lay something ambient and eerie underneath. That just completely fills the atmosphere nice. So what made you decide in the beginning to go with three guitarists? We didn't. It was a complete progression.

36 We started out originally with just four. It was me Mike on guitar, and then we had our old bass player and original drummer. Eventually we worked in a second guitarist and we played swap a guy several times and we ended up with two great candidates to fill in a bass position. And that's when we were spitballing, like, hey, you know, sometimes there's these stuff you do in the studio that you can't replicate, which tracks usually will counteract. But having that extra guitar now we have like if one has to pause and tune real quick, like there's no law, like we could keep everything rolling, and so what you're gonna do to follow up Louder than life now? Like now you have to you have this pull that you have to overcome.

18 I would like to cross off a couple of bucket lists, like we're looking at Rockville, Like trying to get into Welcome to Rockville would be awesome because we're East coast. We're from Scranton, Pennsylvania, so like that easily we could do an independent run down to Daytona and then back up to home and ship rocks. Like getting to Hill with two birds and get stoned and go on a cruise and perform see other bands. Is like it's like almost a dream that I feel like I haven't cracked yet. So like nice that type of experience, rock fest, any of the festival, Like we want to just get into the circuit of the festivals. We've seen a couple of bands come up doing stuff that we're doing and now list it on you know they did After Shock, they did Sonic Temple they did incarceration, which luckily enough and grateful for our fans. They are the reason we got to perform at Ink this year and as well as Louder So thank you to all the listeners. That was pretty iconic performing at the Shawshank Prison, wasn't it.

18 The saw Ink Ink is a whole another interview that was one of the that was like a quintessential rock star story on our part, Like we put I have the pictures and everything. We pulled over like four thousand, five thousand people to the backstage. It was the whole reformatory was filled in just the treatment and everything. It was our first festival appearance and most of us are first time ever even going to a festival, so just wow, it was really overwhelming to soak it in. Plus like the Shawshank redemption and just seeing how the prison was lit up with those green and purple lights. It was just like fever dreamish, no doubt. Yeah, So first time I ever did in like I don't know, ten years ago or something, and I do all the festivals. So my daughter's always like, well are you saying about this next festival? I'm like, I don't know if excited is the word. I love doing it, but when you do it every week, it's not necessarily excitement as the word. But then when I went to INC, I was on the prison yard quote unquote, and I called up my door. I'm like, now I'm excited, I'm at I'm on the prison yard of Shawshank Redemption. Did you do the tour? Did you go inside the tour? You know what else? Too? Did you notice that they're the new reformatory is next door And for some of the performances, the inmates are out in the yard just like doing it, just like your Johnny Cash performing to the inmates. That's and where we were stationed there that we would

49 have been a band that they heard. So that's yeah, see that's wild right Yeah, And even if they were inside their cell, they could probably hear you. It's so loud, so like any entertainment when you're in there. Yeah, it's starved for out, that's for sure. Did you do the Blood Prison? No. We found out that we were able to like kind of get through the line and go through it at Sunday around five o'clock when it was already shut down, and we were like fingers toes crossed for next year. There you go. Well, I'm sure you'll be on all the Danny Wimmer festivals because it's like, once you get on one, that's just stepping stone to others, especially if you were invited back to a second one. Now you're on your way. Yeah. Absolutely, we're hoping even doing like one of the secondary stages at like Ink or something like that is a breathtaking crowd to perform for. Yeah, and Rockville's really cool because you get to perform at that. They tone the speedway man, that's like iconic.

49 Yeah. Just even there's beaches in Florida, so it's nice and warm, so that there's some extra pluses. Will roast in the bus in the Florida heat. Right, So how do people reach out to you on socials on the web by your merch all that good stuff? We are just like everywhere traverse. If you search Traverse the Abyss and it doesn't come up the video games Dark Souls or Destiny, it's more than likely us. We're on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Spotify. We have music videos on YouTube. Our website is ww dot Traverse the Abyss dot com. We have almost a line of exclusive online merch where we have like flip flops. We have pillowcases and bedsheets and like just random stuff you wouldn't find out the average merch table.

37 That is pretty cool. I've never seen pillows, pillowcases or sheets or ang that, so that's cool. Yeah, it's I think more bands should do that. Ship your friend Sean Matthews, his wife actually has our flip flops. Nice. Oh yeah, she surprised him. She's like, these flip flops are awesome, and Mike's like, we have fucking flip flops. Wow, that's cool. Yeah, and you wouldn't find many metal bands that would have flip flops. I get weird looks for it, but like, honestly, ICP is like marketing geniuses, and like listening to them growing up and stuff, it's like they put their name and their emblem the Hatchetman, on everything. Love them or hate them. They are marketing fucking wizards, and I took note of that at an early age. It's like, damn these dudes. They have action figures or shoelaces like brand recognition. I agree completely. So definitely everybody's got to check out your merch because it's the only way bands survive. So they're not allowed to listen to my show unless they buy some merch from you. Absolutely, and everybody needs pillowcases. So at the very least, slide in our DMS tell us you listen to us with pipe Man and maybe we'll give you a little discount code or something. There you go, I love it. Any other words you want to give our listeners that we haven't covered yet that they should know about you guys, We do you have anything as well? Yeah, honestly, the only thing that I could personally say, I'm the guitar player for Traversity Abyss in my own opinion, And this is like something that everybody says. Our music is good

13 if you listen to it, right, but the live show is even better. So make sure if you see us come in your hometown or something, you come out. The more that you listen like follows share, the more that you stream us on Spotify and Apple Music and all that, our numbers go up in your area, and that means that we're more likely to go to that area. Nice. Yeah, there's no substitute for a live show, so definitely everybody's got to check you out. Go one of your shows. You know, mess some things up in the pit and all that good stuff. We gotta show you the incarceration pictures and videos. Man, dude, that was even like the Metal Injection and Metal Insider write ups and everything like that was insanity. Nice. Well, you guys are insane, and I mean that in the best way. So I love it. And thanks for being here at Louder and thanks for being on the Adventures pint Man.

03 Thank you for having us, and thank you all for the listeners and your continued support. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of pinate Man. I'm w for CUI Radio.
