04 Hey, you listen to such sure, I'm for see wow you wake up of America. It's time for the Adventures. So pipe Man on W four cy dot com whist pom beats his number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the pipe Man. He wants not to pick too much. He want to start to pick cut up. He want to go to Frog pick up box to take my show. I'm gonna upside Bull show on the outside of the Chip Show. I'm here man listens the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio. And I'm here with us motherfuckers.

54 Yes here at riot Fest, mander are. I gotta tell you there's only like three sets four sets I really had to see at riot Fest that I did not schedule an interviews. Yours is one of them. Oh that's sweet man, thanks a lot. And I gotta tell you another festival was at I don't know, it's like a year ago you guys were at. I was like, damn, they are freaking good. Live still after like all these years, you're still bringing it. Yeah, we take we take it more seriously. Now we play. We warm up with a whole set before we go out and play the set. They've never been more tight as friends, and yeah, it's the it's our time, man, you had a friends thing. That's important, right man. How do you go out on tour or even write music together if you're not friends, you can't.

42 We've done it a lot, and it's it's painful. It's very painful. So we feel really lucky. All of us are super tight. Nice. And I also saw something that was done in an interview recently that made me laugh because another band said the same thing but from genre that like, you never really liked that emo thing, yeah, but now it's like, well, you know, can't beat them, join them type of thing. And Corn said the same thing about New Mel. They're like, oh man, we hate it being called New Mel, but now it's like fuck it. Yeah, full circle. Man, we are the kings of emo. We started the whole genre. They're probably the best band in the world with the greatest songs ever written, and our fans are seriously the best as well.

34 It's all like everything's about the use nowadays. I love it. It is true though, you know, you're not lying, like you're just speaking what everybody else is saying. We're just lucky to be here. Man, So tell us about the newest music, because like your last album was like right when COVID broke and now you have this new album. I've been saying, if you're gonna take one positive thing out of that lockdown is artists like you had a chance to jump off that hamster wheel and be creative once again. Yeah. It was a dark, dark time for everyone, so yeah, to be able to put that kind of feeling, in that emotion, all of my guts into the record is a really beautiful thing. Therapeutic, cathartic, Yeah, totally. So tell us a little bit about and why people should buy the album, pick up the album, listen to the album, whatever they have to do. I think a lot of people like me struggle with anxiety and depression, and this record really kind of wraps it up in a big ball. And I think that just to hear that other people are going through the same thing you are as really helpful. We've heard a lot of fans say, yeah, this record really helped me out a lot.

39 So that's what music's all about. Well, you know it's funny too. I was thinking when when I saw the album title, I'm thinking, that makes so much sense in twenty twenty three, because like, I come from a time where it's like just be positive, you know, and that kind of explodes later. Yeah, you know, so keep it in man. Yeah, totally. So my daughter was saying something similar to that, like about positivity being like toxic. I'm like thinking, because where I come from, well, how's it toxic? And then I thought about it and like that's so true because you just like the whole fake it till you make it thing, but then you never deal with shit at all. Yeah, this record was a chance for us to really put our everything in the record honesty.

33 So it's it's rare that we get to experience such an in the moment type of situation, like wherever we're at in that day, it's kind of a therapy session and we capture the moment and we put it to song. And that's the other thing about COVID Lockdown that I knew what was going to happen learned to happen is music, to me has always been the best therapy. I'd probably not be here, none of us would probably not be here if it weren't for music. And when they shut that live shit down, man, that sucked for everybody. Yeah, we didn't have any idea what we were going to do with ourselves. Yeah, I mean, like, and where is your release as the artists and us as the listener, where's our therapy from that release? You know? And I remember saying, I don't give a shit if some kid is playing a recorder on stage, if it's live music, I'm going yeah, you know, because it was a dark time, man, and I think a lot of people felt it the way that we felt it. So to be able to kind of try to explain it from our point of view is really cool. And then you know, people have their own experiences, And what's cool about being a good artist is you can write for you, but then somebody else can take it and have their own meeting and put their own meeting to it. Yeah, we've learned along the way that you can't write for anyone else. You have to write in the moment. Songs are always exactly where the band is that at that point in time. So, yeah, you can't write for anyone else.

00 You have to write for yourself. Do you find, speaking of that after all these years, that sometimes it's harder to write because it's like you've done so much writing over to years, it's like, well, what else do I talk about? Until you have something like what happened recently or all the bullshit going down, there's plenty to talk about. But yeah, life is crazy, man. I feel like every single thing that we experience can be put down to song, you know. I mean, there's always something to write about. Now. My question is, as somebody who's like a book writer, and I've written one song with somebody else, but they had to take a book and turn it into a song because I just wanted to write everything, how do you figure out how to like narrow it down those feelings into a few verses that like are not going to be the whole explanation.

50 Yeah, we sit down in a room together and everyone comes up with ideas. It's a lot different than we used to do it in the past. Everyone's got vocal ideas, everyone's got ideas based ideas. We're able to kind of narrow it down in that way, just the four of us kind of like spinning ideas off each other. It's really cool. Yeah, It's kind of like when my friend, when we wrote this song, I brought him this book. He's like, what the fuck is this? This is a book and he worked on and he's like, can we take this out? And I'm like no, how about this? No? And I'm like whatever, do whatever you're gonna do. Yeah, it's tough, man. Yeah, sometimes you gotta just give up. That's a good point right there, Like sometimes you just gotta let it be, walk away, throw shit at the wall and see what sticks. Yeah, there you go. And I think because you're collaborating so much now more than ever, that's why this is your best music, because it's got everybody's input, both good and bad.

49 Yeah. Yeah, it's a magical, magical experience making the record with these guys. It's like, first we come up with the idea, the vibe, everyone's kind of talking about how they're feeling in that day, and then we quickly run for it, you know what I mean. I love that, And then you know it's not like like everybody has their piece to say, and when you put it together. I call it like music today, Like when you have people blending their musical influences instead of one genre of influence, I think it creates better music today. Yeah, we all listen to crazy different types of music and we're all into really different things. As well, So I think that that combination kind of creates something really cool.

30 I think that's what makes you stand out because there's a lot of bands nowadays that it's almost like, I feel they use an algebraic equation to write a song. It's like it has to be exactly like this. But with what you're talking about, that's what makes you stand out because you're not going to sound like any other band because there's so much uniqueness brought together from all of you. Yeah, one lesson we've learned in the last couple of years is there's no rules. You do whatever the fuck you want, don't you wish you You then in the beginning, like oh yeah, fucking try to please people and never please eat anybody. Yeah, you know exactly right. What is the craziest story you could give me in this whole musical career due the Pink story. Pink gave me a pound of mushers one time and I got really into NFL football. Oh that's let's rate says like my top answers right there, And that was a quick one. We got a billion of them.

28 The only two that beat you one was multiple bands said it. So that's what beat you is. When they shipped their pants on stage. Yet I've never done that yet. Right, We've seen it, We've seen it happen, but we've never done Let's hope it doesn't happen, right, and then we make the fans ship their pants. Well, there, that's okay. And then the other one was Leonard skinnerd and Gary Rossington goes when we fucked up Spice Girls backstage, He's like, wait, edit that out right, that's true story. Yeah, And I did not edit it because afterwards we talked. I'm like, do you really want me ed? He's like, no, it's just kidding. You can keep it in there. Craziest story is the band has been around for twenty three years and we're still the fucking best band in the world. There it is, and I agree story, and you're definitely gonna be the best set here at Riot Festum. We're pumped too. We can't wait to play. I'm looking forward to So I'm going over that massage therapist before I go. You're set to get all looped up, yeah, so I can get my next all fucked as it is.

37 I'm with you, dude. I broke my neck last night somehow. Oh yeah, right, laying the back of the bus and cry for a little while. So Hey, final words for our listeners. Thanks all the US fans for making shit happen for twenty three years. Thanks for everybody who supported our new record, Talks of Positivity.
