On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to the band known as The Midnight Devils. The conversation kicks off with Pipeman expressing his excitement for the band's cool boogie-ass music. They discuss the weather in South Florida, where Pipeman resides, and how tornadoes and hurricanes are not uncommon occurrences. They share personal stories about encountering tornadoes and discuss the unpredictable nature of these natural phenomena. Pipeman compares the band's music to a "glitter tornado rock and roll explosion," highlighting the energetic and wild nature of their performances.

The discussion then shifts to what inspired the band members to pursue this style of music. The Midnight Devils credit their parents' influence, starting from Elvis and the Beach Boys, and eventually finding inspiration in AC/DC and Kiss. Their love for Kiss propelled them to pick up guitars and embark on a musical journey that has spanned two decades. They emphasize the freedom and self-expression that rock and roll offers, allowing them to be their true selves on stage. The band describes their genre as "the new wave of glam rock and roll," which perfectly captures their guitar-driven, glitter-covered, and makeup-wearing style.

Pipeman and The Midnight Devils reflect on the importance of live performances and the immersive experience they provide. They believe that concerts are not just about the music but also about the whole day's experience, from hanging out with friends in the parking lot to witnessing a high-energy show. They discuss how their music transcends language and cultural barriers, connecting with audiences worldwide. The band expresses their excitement about upcoming events, including their debut tour in Australia, headlining US tours, and festival appearances in Europe. They also mention their third album in the works and the recent release of a limited-edition etched vinyl single.

00 Hey, you love them too, that's sure. I'm I'm four C wow for you. Wake up America. It's time for the Adventures of pipe Man on W FOURCY dot com. West Palm Beach is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man. It's his plite Man here on the Adventures plait Man W four cby Radio. And I'm very excited about our next guest because and they have some cool boogie ass music. So let's welcome to the show, The Midnight Devils. How are you hey, I'm doing great. How are you doing today? A beautiful day here? Yeah, I'm in South Florida. It's not so beautiful today. No, I'm sure.

23 It's one hundred and twenty degrees with one hundred and twenty percent humidity and rain in the hands of a hurricane at any moment. Yes, And in Nebraska right now, it's just it's just normal. It's just normal Nebraska. Yeah. So like the other day, I was driving home and thankfully at a jeep because there was a tornado blocking Florida. Yeah, we get them all the time. Wow. And I see the water spouts like I live on the ocean, so you see the water spouts form out in the ocean. But every time there's hurricanes, we definitely have tornadoes for sure. But then you know, I'll tell you a wild story, okay that blow your mind. So I was one time, sittings years ago, sitting on the bed of my neighbor's truck, his pickup. We were sitting back. They were just hanging out talking in his park in his driveway, which is right across from mine, and we look up and we're like, oh, and there was a tornado behind my house that touched down behind my house, and it jumped over the house and us and his house and touched down in his backyard. Because it happened while we're sitting there. Hey, you didn't even leave the truck's bed and didn't spill your beer exactly. Because we looked at each other, we're like, well, what the what we could do?

50 There's stuff that we could do now, And you know, the unpredictability of tornado, you'll you try to run from it, it'll jump that way and get you anyway. So I fear it's like the rant of sours Rex all right, So I kind of in a very positive way, that's what I look and look when I see your music. It's like a tornado, but in the best way. You think you're completely spot on. It's like a glitter tornado rock and roll explosion. There you go. I love it. I love it so okay. I'm a I'm an old school like eighties l a metal person. Okay, so okay, I'm I'm always curious nowadays what gets people into this music, Like what makes you wake up and go, man, I need to do this with my life. You know. It really started when I was a kid and my parents were a huge influence the music that they listened to growing up. It was it was Elvis, and it was the Beach Boys, and then it turned into ACDC, and ACDC kind of led me into into Kiss, and Kiss was really the one that the band that propelled me into wanting to do this and and grabbing a guitar and started to tour the country and tour the world really like I've been doing it for twenty years now. The Midnight Devils have been around for six We were working on our third record right now. But it's just it's it's it's

21 the cool thing that we get to go up and be ourselves and express ourselves and have the freedom to do whatever it is that we want to do, and I don't think you get that with other styles of music. And this is just like that, that thing that we can be the space aliens that we want to be, and be its wild, as crazy as we want, and do it all in the name of rock and roll. It's really brilliant. It's a no brainer to me. So we get to get up there and dress how he wants, and wear the makeup and do everything that we ever wanted that our heroes did. Yeah, it doesn't get much better than that, for sure. And you know, I'm gonna tell you another story to'll blow your mind. You're ready. First album I ever are owned in my life. I grew up in Jersey and then I moved to LA in nineteen eighty, but I grew up in Jersey and I was at the Boardwalk and Seaside Heights and I won one of the Carney Games and the prizes were actually albums, and I looked up. I look up and I see these four really cool looking dudes. I'm like, that's the one I want.

20 Had no clue what they sounded like or anything. I just saw the album cover and it was the original Kiss album when it first came out, the first one yep is that bad? And you remember that and then that kind of sticks with you, and especially with this band, we've kind of run into the thing where we noticed there aren't a whole lot of bands that are doing this. Absolutely we're like we're one, a one in a million, if you could say. And the reaction, the crowd reaction, it's what people want, you know, we want a show and we want to be entertained, and we want our our musicians to just be this over the top type of rock and roll. And it really like you can see it in the crowd. You can feel it in the energy. It's a throwback to the eighties, but it's not. It's new and it's exciting and it's dangerous and it's still really cool. Yeah. Well, see, the thing is, to me, music is more than just music. It's a whole sensory experience. And now you're doing it live like put on a show.

23 Because you know, there's some bands you go and see and I sit there and go, well, I might as well just sit home and watch it on YouTube, you know, And then and then there's other bands where you're like, oh my god, this is the best time of my life. Yeah. And as you know, the concert is so much more than than just the music. It's it's like it's your whole day. You set up, you parked your car, you know, and you hang out with your buddies in a parking lot or drinking beer, smoking, We are doing everything and then the party starts with the bands. And I really think that that's really what it is. It's this positive outpouring of of creative energy between the band and the audience where there's no rules and there's no limits, and really whatever it is that you want, whatever's going to get you off, it's right there now. I want you to say something too, because I think it will sound better when you say it. But there's a description for your band that I guess you would call it a genre description, but I want you to say it. If you know when I'm talking about it starts with new and ends with rock and roll, you know, the new wave of glam rock and roll. Yeah, it's the new glam slam, boogie woogie rock and roll band. Yeah. Yeah, are you impressed? I could even say that because that was a mouthful, like say that ten times fast.

47 But I totally think that it is a very good description of what we are doing, where we came from, and what our influences are. You say that and people go, Okay, I kind of understand what you guys are going and then you see it live and you're like, I absolutely get. It's a guitar driven rock and roll we just covered and make it up and glitter and lipstick and make it look really good. Yeah. Well, it is the perfect description because like I read that and I'm like, I instantly have a visual of what it is and I love that. So tell our listeners a little bit about, you know, what you got going on right now and what they should know and look out for because you got a lot of great stuff happening. Yeah, it's it's a very a very exciting time to be in the Midnight Devils. We have a ton of stuff coming up. We just got up tour. We did a headlining tour across the States about three weeks ago, and now we are just getting ready. We're about to head over to Australia for our first time, making our debut in Australia, opening up for Donnie V across the entire continent. We're gonna do two weeks there, come back and do another US headlining tour, and then we go out with Pretty Floyd in the late summer, and then we head over to Europe for a couple of weeks to do a bunch of festivals over there, and we start working on what is going to be the follow up to our twenty twenty two album, Never Begged for It. So there's like a ton of stuff going on. It's exciting time and it's really the sky's the limit as far as I'm concerned. It's like, if you dream it,

20 man, we're going to go out and do it. I love it. How psyched are you to go play in Australia? I'm beyond excited. I'm telling you. This is like the dream when you're a kid you get your guitars is to get up. You know. I grew up in a small town to Nebrapka, and the dream was what am I going to do to get out of this town and see the world. And rock and roll has kind of given us that opportunity to go out and travel and experience so many different cultures. And the fact is, no matter where we go, the music translates all all of these these different cultures, right, it comes through and no matter what languages speak when, no matter what sexual orientation there, it doesn't matter. The music, the rock and roll, the vibrations, it carries over and people get it and they love it and they're excited about it. And that's the cool thing. You know. It spans continents and spans around the world. It's the one big uniter and that's why I think we need it more than more than anything nowadays. Like, let's just have one big music festival where the whole world is required to attend, right and have a good time, have a good time. Yeah, And you know what, instead of having wars while we have Battle of the Band, I completely agree, We'll just have it, have it in a big field.

39 Everybody just comes to the big field and we all sleep in tents and it's fine. Everybody has a good time and and that's it. Three days and we go home. I think it'll clear the plate, you know, and so to say absolute, So, how do people connect you guys on socials on the web? Check out all your music, by your merch all that great stuff. But it's pretty easy. We're very very social media friendly band, so we try and respond to every every comment, every message, everyone requests, so Facebook, The Midnight Devils were on Instagram, Twitter, We're on all of the streaming platforms, but the real kicker is Zubmennight deevils dot com is where you can go to get our exclusive merchandise. Who just came out with a brand new two It's a two single. It's it's a single, but it's a twelve inch single etched vinyl, and I'm so proud of it. It's like the first time seeing seeing and hearing your music on vinyl, Like you don't forget those things. So I'm like, this is really it now, it's really happening. So we got this this limited edition vinyl that you can pick up on our website, them Midnight deevil dot com.

43 It's the only three hundred copies worldwide and it's just been going like hotcakes. So everything is there, and like I said, we'd love to interact with people, love to interact with our fans and people that are just discovering bands. Yeah, I'm kind of curious how you take MP three and frame it and put it up on your wall exactly and what it's like. Once I opened I got the box the box. They all ships in my house, you know, and I opened it up and like, oh man, this is like like our heroes did. They had they had their own records, and now the Midnight Devils have their own records. It's on vinyl. It's kind of like etched in stone for all of eternity. Absolutely, I love it, and so tell us let's talk a little bit about never beg for it, because man, that album's been killing it and tell us why.

31 Yeah, it was really we knew that we had to follow up our our our debut album with what tru called something bigger. We had to follow it up with something bigger and better. And we went to the Chip and he's like, let's let's do this record at my house. So Chip Chips Enough produced the record. We did it in Chicago Chris Simons at Stonecutter Studios, who did the Kiss Revenge record with the guy that mixed and mastered it. So we like went above and beyond to kind of get this this great sonic capture on record. And I think it really shows what we did during the quarantine. We did this all when the world was shut down. It was like perfect timing for us to go and do a great record, and I think Chip really brought out this the Chicago sound, this power pop kind of sound, and added it to our arsenal and I really think that that's translated to to big songs with big choruses, big catchy riffs and kind of Our first hit single was the song called Highway sixty nine, which is out on YouTube. It's part of that vinyl single, but it just seemed like the song kind of took a life of the tone and the record did as well. I love the name of that song too. Highway sixty nine great.

41 It was perfect, and it's the most requested song that we get. I love it. I love playing it every night. I'm so proud of that song. Badass. So is there anything else we want to tell the listeners about that we haven't covered yet? Just said to keep your eye out for the Midnight Devils. We're an old school rocket roll band, you know, a new generation band that grew up listening to Kiss and Van Haaling. We took our influences directly from those guys. So if you put a record out and you go on tour, and we've been touring across the country. We did a ton of shows in Florida over the winter and we'll be back again sometime. You know, anything fall I believe. But we're just a band that goes out and travels and works hard and loves being on the road.

22 So it's really a pleasure for us to kind of get to do what we love to do. I love it, Love your music, love what you're all about. I mean it. Listen. It's all about playing on a great show and being creative and playing out great music. And you've hit all three, so you guys are bad. Oh my pleasure, And thank you for giving us to music and the you know, entertainment that you do because we need it more than ever right now. And thanks for being on the Adventures of pipe Man. Hey man, it was my pleasure anytime. And feel free to shoot me a call whatever you're boor it all. You got it, brother. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of Pytman.
