0:04 Hey, you have done too, that's sure see wow for you you. Why up America, It's time for the adventures of pipe Man on W four c HY dot Com with pomp Beats is number one Internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man. This room is not stop. It's only one side. Anything needs to be sibody else in the wheel it's not.

0:47 It's you just can't win. The way to go with no regrets. This is the pipe Man here on the Inventors pipe Man W four c Y Radio at Rocklahome and the last day no voice because of the campground. But I'm here with probably the best band of the festival so far. Don't tell Slipknot I know, right, fuck Slipknot even though they are one of my favorite bands, but fuck them anyway. But from where we are, they're from Iowa. Another Iowa band like this should be Iowa Homa Midwest Fest because you're like the third fourth Iowa band that I know of at this felial.

1:30 We're from Nebraska, so we're a little bit, but. Uh, it's close enough, good enough for a resident country. They think it's probably the same state anyway. To see those guys at the Ranch Bowl in Omaha, Nebraska. Nice. You know, it's a stage. It's a little a great little rock club. But Ranch Bowl days were awesome. They tore it down and made a Walmart out of it. But yeah, Slip and I would play up there all the time. It was cool. I saw a Slip Knot in my vain third stage oz Fest ninety nine, the same year that they're gonna be doing tonight the whole first album. Yeah, all right, at least that's why I heard We'll see. I can tell them who you are. We've been talking and nobody even knows who the fuck you are.

2:14 This is Ah, this is Junior Dandy. Now we're a tenset Revenge. We're out of Arizona. Uh well Arizona almost in Nebraska. Like we're from all over. We don't care where we're at. No, we're from Phoenix, Arizona. Been together for about three years. I've known Josh here what eight nine years? Nice and rival bands. We like to fist fight in the parking lot, bare knuckles all good. That's the second band that that happens with A Yeah. Yeah. So another band that was interviewing. They were talking about the two and two of the guys are like they've been friends for like forever, right, and they're great personally, but on stage or like a band stuff, they gained the fights and the two other guys in the band was just like, sit there and oh.

3:01 We hate each other, but you know, we just we work well together. So there it is. There you go. We don't talk to each other otherwise. So here's the thing I really freaking love is I went to your Facebook and the contest oh No to get the Rock Oklahoma, and I have to say, I'll bet you ninety five percent of people seeing that did not pick up on where you were each time? What three? And then one was from Nebraska. I had to call her. I'm like, look, the giveaway is for an LA show and she's like, oh no, we're flying out. We're actually flying out. I'm like okay then, but then some of them are just local. I'm like, you're not going to LA.

3:45 No, man? Yeah shows that night, I'm like. People were reverse google searching little segments of the photo. I'm like, come on, man, it was I know, it's like pretty easy. At the end, you're playing aside and basically telling people they're idiots. That's what I loved about it. Hate mail from that one. And then there was the one where I think you said to him, man, you're really good at this. Oh yeah. We That was in Kansas, Wade County, Kansas, and we just bought cookies from these two Amish girls on the side of the road, and I mean they were awesome. There was like three dollars for a big meccha. That's the road to Oklahoma right there. I mean, you didn't go to Oklahoma if you didn't buy cookies from Amish girls. Yeah, we got some if you want them now, I would try them too.

4:34 And we also got some some brownies from some sketchy looking hippies and I we haven't had those. Yeah, we're gonna try those a little bit. Yeah, that might be something you might not want anything to do for the next eight hours. We decided to drive from you know, Phoenix, Arizona, and we got all the way through Texas into Oklahoma, you know New Mexico. We got into Oklahoma and we spent the night, and then the next day Josh is like, hey, man, it's like thirty in the morning. You want to just cruise a Lincoln, Nebraska. That's where we're from. And I'm like, yeah, why not? Man? So we went there, stayed ninety minutes, had runza and taco in, and we talked to our friend with middle manifesto. There's our plug and John Cruise, casey in and uh. And we were there for like ninety minutes. Then we just went home. We got here like midnight last night, and now we're here nice.

5:22 So you didn't get to see the campground, did you? I did not, did not. So we were talking about before the show. And you know, I even have a wristband for my favorite one. Oh you didn't make that up. That's literally what you're okay. I did not make that up. It is bus booths and buttoles and another day's another day dawn. They came because I talked about an interview. I don't know if they believed me, but they came and they saw for themselves what goes on at this campsite. It's the right of passage. Let's play it this way. On the way out of the venue, there is a strip club campsite that does stripper shows. This bus is better.

6:09 I am not going home. No one's ever going to see us again. Man. I mean, it's pretty easy to solve the US. See now, next time you do Rockklahoma, you could just do your Facebook lives from the campground. Oh, the meadow would shut that down so fast. Where where am I? Whereos? Yeah? So what happens is they were my first neighbor here at Rocklahoma and the campaign, and they're a school bus that they built the deck on top of the school bus, and so all night long people are coming up on this school bus. And then they give out beads because you have to understand the campsite there, which we'll talk about, but they give out beads if you show your button hole or your boobs, and it doesn't matter many exactly, you know. And yes, I think somewhere having to do with buttholes.

7:17 No, they're under my boobs, oh man. Yeah. And so it's like, we don't care who you are, what you are, just show us your butt hole or boobs or both. That's awesome, right, you know, liberating. I'm coming here every year. Well I can tell you that almost every camp site in that campground, if you show your boobs, you get a shot. Oh my gosh, we're gonna die today. Yeah, they love giving out alcohol in that campground. So like if you came here like fuck, I don't have an alcohol. You're set because you'll just go places and they'll give it to you.

7:59 Oh my god, Yep, we're gonna die today. We're gonna be buried at Ockklahoma. Yeah. If you go on that bus as you arrive, they'll welcome you with cello shots. Jello shots are awesome. Okay, I give him four SIPs. Of a margarita, goes downhill fast. He thinks he has thrombosis, last about twenty minutes, and then he's he's good to go again. I'm ready to do it again. Nice. He goes like the four stages of grief, only shitty, just. Not acceptance right right, No, no, that'll never come. Oh man, So it was funny. Your band name reminded me of my dad. And I'll tell you why. My dad when used to go out the restaurants all the time, and you know, he was a good tipper. He always taught me tip bartender's good, tip servers good. But he also taught me something else. We're in Vegas one time and we had this pissy ass, fucking dude server that was like rude, and so my dad left a one penny tip one cent. There you go, and he says to me, he goes, don't leave no tip, leave them a cent so they know you did not forget yep, so I see ten second revenge. Hey, that's what he did.

9:31 No, Well, actually, it's funny. We we have many stories about how we came up with our name, and one of our favorites is, well, this one time me and Josh wrought in the desert in the Tonneau National Forest and we did a bunch of peyote and when we uh, you know, when we survived and came back to life, it was carved into a cactus or you know. We're in the streets of LA and this, you know, an alleyway and this homeless guy steps another homeless guys and goes tenset revenge. The reality is we were in a Tubes concert. We're standing right next to each other, and I text him, how about tenset revenge? Cool? The Tubes were like, yeah, good. So what's funny about what you said too? A couple of things. But you said to peyodes story and I'm thinking, were you high watching the Doors movie?

10:19 Yeah? Well there was a naked ending. It was Josh. It was me. He was real confused. I'm a quarter Cherokee, and I was disturbed. Man, where are you naked? I know that's funny, oh man, but yeah, see you'll love this too. Okay, So I never asked that question I had to get your band name because most of the time it's either there's no real fucking reason or it's just common fucking sense, like just stop and think for a second before you asked that stupid question that they've been asked fifty million times. Yep. But the best thing is you reminded me of August Burn's red Oh and I'll tell you why. I said to him before the interview. I'm like, listen, I never asked stupid questions like how did you get your band name?

11:11 And they're like, well, you're fucking lucky, because here's what we did. Everybody that'd ever asked us, we fuck with them and we come up with a different story every time. That's why when you said that, that's why I thought of and he goes, you see that girl next to you, she asked, And what we do is we do it with a complete straight face, and here's the story we told her. I've told this a few times because it's so fucking classic. Well, we were teenagers and my sister she got this dog. We named it August, and one day we were out in the street partying and somebody came up with this idea, Hey, looks like August on fire, and watch him run down the street. Ergo August Burn's red and they said, we had such a straight face, and you had to see the look of horror on her face. Yeah, because she thought we were dead serious and we don't break character.

12:08 Oh my god. Yeah, our first interview we ever did in Arizona. I told Josh, we're sitting here waiting for him to show up, and I said, okay, dude, they're gonna ask us lame questions. You know, it's gonna be the same thing. I said, So we need to take control of this entire situation, right, And Josh like, well, how do you suggest we do that? And I had a bag of flower on me and I just shoved his face in it. I shoved my face in it, and I'm like, now, don't call attention to it whatsoever. And the one guy got it right away. He was just laughing the minute we walked in. But the other one was just staring at me us the whole time, So how did you come up? And we were just telling stories and just you know, going off. Finally somebody got on the live stream and like, guys, you know, what's with the powder? And she's like, okay, so what's with your faces? And I was like, oh man, we just you know, polished off a bag of powdered donuts. Man, we love cookies shit, you know. And they're just like, oh my god, we were not invited back.

13:06 Wow. See you know. I love that shit though, because I sit here sometimes with all the media people around me, and sometimes I'm listening to other people's interviews. I'm like, if I was the artist, I would be slitting my fucking throat right now. Okay, especially when it comes to metal. Okay, Like, you can't interview metal bands and not no fucking metal and not be passionate about metal. Take the fucking script out of your hand, because you can. I can see the band, the look on their face when the people are holding scripts and reading off of it. It's like, my fucking god like, and then you never get the good ship. That's the point. That's why I do it the way I do. I let the interview, take a life of its own and find out what you guys want to talk about. Like why my best friends Dan Spitz Okay, he said to me, goes people would have just asked me what skin condition I used while we were on tour.

14:04 Yeah, because like that's awesome. There's no way he would ask that. But it's like just pointing out the fact that, like why you ask all these or the questions are already out there. Why are you gonna ask a question that everybody already knows, Like I want to get that tidbit and that no way fucking knows. Yeah, And you're only gonna do that organically. You're not gonna do it from a script. That's the way it should be done. You know. We we have conversations, you know, we've traveled miles and miles together, and the stuff we talked about. We come up with these great grand ideas and then we can't remember them, you know. And then I found out he had a Twitter account that was called things my bass player says and I'll say stuff, but I'll forget what I'm what I said, And he's laughing at like Tracy Gunns liked it, and I'm like and I found out like a year later that he had this thing, and I'm like, what are you talking about, because yeah, this whole thing, he's got like a million followers. I'm like, are you serious?

14:55 There are people in this industry that know him only from that Twitter. Account, Like, wow, man, that is bad ass. It started with, Uh, there was a sandwich shop that used to be in my neighborhood and they closed down and it became like a hair salon. And we were walking by it one day. I said, yeah, they used to be a sandwich shop. And we walked about five feet and I'm like, and I didn't think it was funny. I was just you know, talking, and I said, well, they still got breadsticks in there, and he thought that was the funniest. And I'm like, that's just that weird off the cuff bullshit it is. I love that shit. It became this whole thing with him, and I'm just like, oh, okay, you know right, you. Also have to be able to be able to go off script and get back on those people went to script if you throw them off with which if I was a band, I would throw them the fuck off, you know, And so they wouldn't even know what the fucking do next, because once they're on, they're like trying to figure out where in the script they are and shit like that, and uh yeah, I mean it's much easier to just have no fucking script. Yeah, and if you fuck up, who cares?

16:00 Yeah, they. Know, no doubt, and I don't. I'm like, fuck it, keep it in there. Yesterday we got evacuate and I had an interview with Eva under Fire and I'm sitting like right outside that fence in the car. We weren't fucking moving. So her husband texts me and I'm like, I'm evacuated right now, but if you want, you can come out to carm right outside the media attend in the car and we'll do like a version of carpool karaoke or some ship like that. You gotta be able to just fucking roll with the punches. So Diva Underfire, how did they get their name? Eva?

16:40 I was like, going, Wow, Diva Underfire. That would be a much better I know, right, you know, I do find that that in the metal industry and the guys are more of the divas than the women. Really, Yeah, I'm gonna have to end this interview right. I wanted to do the Billy Bob Thornton thing where you can't ask him about his his acting career, it only needs music. I want to reverse that, and I'm gona like, yeah, I'm I'm an actor. Oh oh you're an actor. Yeah, this interview's over, thank you very much. You know, like just totally reverse it on him, Like I love it. I'm not an actor at all? What are you talking about? I love it. I also like to find like these fucking tidbits that people are like where the fuck did you find that out?

17:25 Or like. What's their name? Fuck, I'm drawing a blank. But when the bands he told me at the time and we were just talking and he's like, I will fuck with people in the interviews that I know they didn't do their fucking research nice. And so we're doing the interview and I don't do a lot of research because like I don't want to listen to other people's interviews because I don't want to copy it, Okay, And you can't help it sometimes if it gets in your head, you know, you don't even know you're doing. And I find cool shit, But like all the stuff some of these other people research, it's like, who cares you know, I try to find the cool ass shit that people are going to be like what the fuck or laugh about or whatever. So I'm talking to him in the interview and I said, uh, so you guys were originally a cover band? Huh, because I knew nobody asks him about that. He's like, you did your research in the middle of the interview because nobody's ever asked me about that ever?

18:35 Nice, Like how do you not? It's like, look for that shit, like Slayer was a cover band. You know how many interviewers ever interviewed Slayer over the years and asked him about that? Probably nobody. And sometimes you are say, like to talk about that obscure shit, Well, yeah, it's it's. A different you know, it's just a whole different narrative. Yeah, No, they're not talking the same by I wrote. You know, you know I asked Gene Simmons once I met him at a convention, and you know, he knows who he is, you know, and you had this whole line of people it's like, oh, hey man. You know I came up to him and I said, hey man, do you mind if I ask you a question? And he not really paying attentions, like yeah, go ahead. I was like in the early seventies, you know, up until you know, like nineteen seventy nine, nineteen eighty, you're like doing some really cool Paul McCartney, real cool walking basslines, real interesting stuff.

19:28 And then in the eighties you went to like root note was that just by choice? And he goes as the eighties, you know, it's like, you know, guitar heroes and stuff. I started to walk away and he goes, hey, you're in a band or you start to you know, making beer money, and I'm like, I'm in a band and he goes, hey, are you doing anything with it? And I'm like, well, I you know, print my own T shirts and you know, we have a newsletter and everything. And the next thing he's like come here, man, and he's talking. He's given me advice I don't understand to this day, right, And then like two seconds later, this girl jumps upon the road case, pulls her pants down, and she's like over her shoulders. She's like, Jean, sign my ass and he's like, can I borrow your panel? Like sure, and he goes, well, I don't want to lose my friend's pen where you want me to sign this thing? And then this other guy come ups. I got his thunder and he just shut off like a light and he's like, hey, buddy, I got you back to work. And it was like, but I had this.

20:15 It was like, wow, that was And all I said was, you know, I talked about Paul McCartney for a minute. You know, So now I have a trivia question. Nice because I always ask trivia questions in banned interviews. Yeah, ninety nine percent of time they never get it. So I'm gonna use something you said for my trivia question. See this didn't This didn't happen before. It happened right here, right now. Why is Paul McCartney such a great bassist? Pop sense. Keep going? I just think he's just he just writes good singing bass lines. It goes along with the melody, goes right along with you do you know he never wanted to be a bassist, really, I did not know that he had to be the bassis cause as they they like Drew Straws who have him, John and George because he was a guitarist, did not know and somebody had to be the bassist, so was him.

21:10 And that's why he's one of the greatest Bassis ever. So now you go back and listen to his bass and you'll hear the guitar in it. Yep, you know, and. Most people don't know that. It's also cool. Did you see the one documentary, not to get back one, but the one where he's with like Rick Rubin and they're listening to Beatles. Shit, Yeah, I loved, loved, love loved where he was like, yeah, you know, back then, I was just playing with my bloke John, and now I'm listening to I'm like, oh, my fucking god, I was playing with John Lennon. Like Paul McCartney fanboying out that he was playing with John Lennon. That's so fucking cool. We did a Q and A with Alice Cooper a few years back, and everybody's asking him, you know a lot of you know, trivia questions and stuff. And I asked him. I said, hey, when you were at the Rainbow Bar and Grill and you had your little you know, upper stairs there, you know, the Vampire's Layer thing, I said, tell me the craziest thing that you've ever done up there, you know, because I'm sure there's some stories, right, And he goes, is I'm going to tell you a different story, says it. But he goes, when I used to sit up there, I would sit on the other side of John Lennon when we would hang out, And he said, and the reason why is because if somebody walked in the room and bad mouthed John to Paul to gain favor, Paul would get up and leave the room. Wow, John would swing, He goes, you don't talk bad about him.

22:34 We're not working together, we don't can't get along. But that's not your you know. And I was just like, Wow, I love that cool. I wouldn't even think of that. About he is. I always had to have John over here so he couldn't get to somebody. Wow, that was really cool. I was like, that's a that's what I wanted to hear. Those stories I like to hear right there, you know. And uh so, what's your guy story? Like one story? Good or bad, crazy or not that when you're like eighty, you're gonna fucking tell Okay. Well, I'll let Greg tell it because he's a little more eloquent about it than I am. But essentially I'm gonna set the stage because I want him to tell the story. It's the first trip we took to Los Angeles.

23:18 So mister Turner, oh. I hope you got some time. Okay. So we were in rival bands and we share stages. We'd always do shows together. Well, their bass player left and I started to fill in. They asked me to join the band. Well, we decided to move down here because he started playing with the celebrity from from Scottsdale and from Arizona. So we got a chance to go play LA for the first time, where Nebraska kids we don't know anything about La, have never been there. It's like a whole different planet, right, yeah. Right, So we get ready to go and the other guys in the band they're flying out, and I looked at Josh and I said, we're taking a train, bro, And it was why. I was like, because you've never been on tour, you've never had an adventure. You've been sheltered this whole time. You were going to see some messed up stuff, right, And I'm gonna keep this three reader's guide just version. So we get on this train. It's a three day ride to Sacramento and then they're gonna, you know, shuttle us down to LA. We get into Sacramento, Bakersfield calls and said, hey, can't get into Bakersfield. It's on fire, no shuttles in or out, and we're and so I called my wife and I'm just like, hey, I don't know how we're gonna do this. Just well, charter a plane for Fox saying, or do something. We can't find anything, And so we called the rental place. Right, you can't even get into Bakersfield, so you can't even rent a car. So we called an uber and this guy shows up and he's like got a you know, like a Dodge Ram and he's like, he's like, is this a joke or a mistake. I know, we need to get to La tonight. He guys, that's like five and a half hours away. And we're like, yeah, okay,

24:51 he goes, can we get snacks and shit? I'm like, yeah, let's go. So we get into La. Right, we do our show, we do our thing, and we had another show to do back in Nebraska and the only way we could get back on time is to take a greyhound not recommend it. Right, So in the interim of all this, we went, Okay, I'm gonna incriminate ourselves. We stole a La Parks in a wreck road cone because and so we're trying to the deal is are we going to get this road cone back on the bus? Are they gonna let us do it? So I put my jacket over it, and this guy's just throwing bags in there. He just grabbed it. This year's yeah boom. I'm like, and we named it Coney, you know, so it's a mascot now. So we're on this bus. We get right outside of Saint George, Utah or first. Yeah, we got this. We went into Vegas first and we had to do a changeover. And we're sitting here waiting for the next bus and Josh is like, hey, man, you think Coney's gonna make it on the next bus.

25:48 I'm like, no, man, they're gonna throw that in the garbage or leave it on here. There's no tag, nobody knows what it is. So we get on the on the other bus and we're getting ready to leave it and all of a sudden, these two plane closed cops get on and they're like, hi, we're from the Las Vegas Police Department and we need everybody to stay in their seats. We have a few questions, and I'm looking at Josh like don't say nothing. I don't care if they can print that thing. I don't know, man, right, And it turned out they're just like, hey, guys, got an drugs on you? No, we're good, right, So we get in the new bus. We get right outside Saint George, Utah, that bus breaks down completely on the side of the road, right, So now we're worrying about you know what animals are going to be dining on us that evening, you know.

26:28 So they lip this into Saint George and I called my wife and I said, you know, this isn't gonna work because they're like, it's going to take six to twelve hours to get another bus. Here. It's ten o'clock at night, right, every hotel is booked, And I'm like, why is every hotel booked here? The Senior Olympics were in town and everything was booked, right, So we finally found an airbnb to take pity on us. Right. So I went up to the bus driver and I'm like, hey, we're gonna take our guitars and our luggage. And by you know, by chance is they're a you know, three foot road cone. And sure enough it was on the bus, right. So now we're like Cony's going home. So the end of the story is the next day, we get to the airport in Saint George because the only way we're gonna get home is to rent a car. So I go into the airport and there's you know, hertz Avis rent a car, YadA, YadA, YadA, and there's one guy standing behind the counter. So I walked up to him and he's like, can I help you. I'm like, yeah, I need to rent a car to get back to Lincoln, Nebraska.

27:26 He's like, oh, I can help you with that. I said, okay, I go I have a debit card. Yeah, yeah, we don't take debit cards. I'm like, okay, do you take a credit card? Like over the phone because I got my card at home. Now we don't do that. You know, do you have an ATM? No, no dice on anything. So I called my wife and I'm like, I don't know what the fuck to do. She goes, well, just go to a different one. I'm like, okay, I'm not making this up. I took two steps to the right, that same dude took two steps to the left. Now we're facing each other and I'm like and he goes, can I help you, like, you know, like it's groundhog Day and I need to rent a car. He goes, yeah, I can help you with that. I'm like, I have a debit card. He goes, we take debit cards. I'm like, are you like I'm Steve Martin in you know, plays trains it out of there's like four seats and a wheel you fuck you know. So then the only car they had for us was a Volkswagen Bug that was a convertible hot pink right, So they shuttle us over to get it there. It is in all it's glory, and I'm like, I don't care at this point. I just need a car.

28:28 So it goes over real well in Nebraska too. I bet yoh yeah, you know, no nobody cares. So I get in there and the girl's like, can I help you. I'm like, yeah, we're renting that car, and she's like, okay, cool. She types some stuff out and she's like like what. She goes, oh, yeah, they just recalled that car this morning. I can't rent it to you. And the look on my face. She's like, how about we get you a nice Impala. I'm like thank you, and we got we got home on time, we had time to take about a half hour to eat, and then we had to do another show and that took us like two days. Wow, insane. That's life on the. Road, right. So we wrote a song called Hollywood about that adventure on our first album. I Love that. And there's lots of stories about Hollywood, Like I was very involved as Sunset strip from eighty to like eighty six nice if you could imagine. Yeah, oh yeah, you mentioned Rainbow. I'm like, all these stories are flying in my head. Or like hanging out at the Rainbow with Lemmy and Ron Jeremy and just taking the overflow of women at fifteen years old, Like Ron Jeremy's like the ugliest motherfucker on the planet, but man, there were the hottest girls around him. Oh yeah, And I'm like I'll just take the overflow.

29:51 Yeah yeah. I told these guys the first time we went out there. Josh like, hey, man, would you ever like do cocaine in La? And I'm like, I don't know. Maybe if I hooked up and like Ron Jeremy and we went to some swanky LA thing, you know, And I said, hey, guys, what are guys gonna do tonight? I'm gonna go to the Rainbow. Oh, we're gonna watch Netflix. I'm going to the Rainbow. I've stayed at the Rainbow and I'm just standing talking around and all of a sudden, I look over and runs right next to me. You know, I'm like, oh my gosh. He was wearing like pajama pants and crocs. He didn't care any more. I'm just like, wow, No, no, I did not do cocaine anything. It's funny you should make mention cocaine because I had three people in the campground last night asked me if I had ainy cocaine. And my answer to them is, are we in the fucking eighties? Yeah, Like it blows my mind when people ask, Now, you know, it's like, really, do.

30:47 You have some queludes? I know, I know, right. You know it's funny too that you say that, because like, so I used to be pretty big in the investment business. The Wolf was my competition, Like I knew him personal. That's all right. And so we're watching them. I'm watching a movie with my daughter, Wolf of Wall Street, and she's like, what are kualudes? But not like she's a little daughter, like she's already doing a lot of drugs. Oh really? Yeah, Like she's in high school doing a lot of drugs and she's like, what's quayludes? And it's like it's that moment right there where you realize you're old because your daughter that does pretty much every drug there is doesn't know what a quaylude is. It's like, fuck, what are the drugs today?

31:41 Right? They're flintstone vitamins is what they are? Thank you? I know, right, they're chicklets. And then I got it's funny too. Have you ever seen the meme? Uh it's as the eighties rock star and the rock star of today? Oh, yes, I've seen that. Yes, have you seen it? I don't know, I don't, okay. So what it is is the top is the eighties rock story. He's lying on the ground, passed out, guitar in one hand, follow a jack in the other, and then the other one where he's on the computer with the guitar rives lab. Yep.

32:21 It's so true though. So I got to ask you because I have a good rainbow story for you. All right, what is your best rainbow story? Fuck? The problem is is if you were in the eighties on the Sunset Strip and you remember it. You weren't fucking there, right, But I can't tell. I can tell a couple of things. First of all, now, when I go to Rainbow, I'm like, fuck, I watch him, I damn people and check. I'm like, how the fuck did I ever get in here at fifteen? And that guy sit and think about it. I'm like, oh, that's right. I was walking over with my Hotley crew, you know.

33:02 So that's what used to go on. I'll just give the whole Hollywood story forget just Rainbow, all of the bands. You were friends with them all, no matter who you were, Like, everybody's just partying, and you used to go to the band's house after the gig up and party all night long. So I told this yesterday. I was at the party when Vincent Razzle left. Really yeah, So. Since you asked, I think that's probably the most memorable, not in a good way, story of Hollywood in those days.

33:45 So then you know miss Kim the bartender at the Rainbow. Yeah, but do I remember, right, I don't remember. Yeah, she just retired. I was probably doing coke. Yeah. The first time I met her, it was like meeting a you know, celebrity, and that's her thing. She's like, you know, the rule was you'd buy as much cheap food as you could, but you always tip the waitresses because that's where that's who took care of you. And she goes and now those same bands come back in the Motley's and all this, but now my tips are in hundreds. Yeah, and I don't know them as as celebrities. I know them as my friends. I used to party with no doubt. I used to hang out at the mall with Mick Marr's and Chris Holmes from Wasp, like we were mall rats.

34:26 That type of shit. I got so many like that. My eighteenth birthday party was in this like it was a warehouse area where bands practice. That was where they would practice in these like storage bins. And so I had a bunch of the LA bands at my eighteenth birthday party, not to play, just to hang out, and like they all of them got up on stage to play breaking the Law on the wrong instruments, like they all played instruments they didn't play. And then my best bro passed away last year. He was tending keg and he looked just like Bruce Dickinson, hair everything. So everybody members a Slayer Armored, Saint Wasp, all these bands are all calling them Bruce when they're going to get their beer. Hey, Bruce, filled me back up. So shit like that. You know, there's so many stories like that, or like there's one iconic story about me actually. So you know how if you have kids, you tell them your stories and they're like, yeah, right, sure, they can't imagine you as a teenager doing this shit, okay, And some of the stories from a sunset strip nobody would fucking believe, okay. And so I interviewed a band recently that just came out with a new album since the eighties. They were one of my favorite bands and they were a thrash metal band, but they never made it like Mentallica Slayer, but they did tour with Motor

36:00 and so I got the interview. But the dude in the band, who I was good friends with back then, he didn't know who the interview was with because I go by pipe Man, you know, but he knew my real name. I wasn't sure if he'd remember, because it's like there's other friends of mine from back then that you see him after a one period of time and they're like, oh sorry, I forgot so many drugs, and they'll say it straight out like that, you know. But what happened was is I was at this gig and I ended the gig not because of what happened, but because I did it on the last note of the last song. So I climbed up on stage. Security was chasing me. I climbed up the Marshall stack and did a swan dive midair. Crowd fucking moved and I hit teeth first into the Linoium floor. That's a bridge right now. Wow, my teeth two knocked out, one knocked loose, and one all the way up. And I was so full of a drone from being in the pit and shit, I didn't feel it, okay, And I even picked up my teeth on the floor and I was like, fuck it and throw them back down. I was so fucking out of it. My bro who's in bands now, but he was my best bro. He put it under ice. One of our friends. This girl comes up, she comes out of pay, so she goes and grabs the glass she goes to drink. No, those are teens teeth. And then

37:32 when we leave, Okay, first of all, they kicked me out of the club as it was the country club in Resida. They kicked me out when I hit the ground, like instead of taking care of me, It's like, no, we're gott the fuck out of here. My friends are taking me to the hospital. I'm not feeling think cause I'm still fucking pumped and my head's like out the window. And then it hit and the fucking wind hit in my mouth. The most fucking pain I ever felt in. My life man. And oh my god. So now we fast forward. I've told my kids this story. I tell them I'm a fucking legend in La but not for being in pan but for this fucking stupid shit. Okay, They're like, yeah, right, Dad.

38:16 They're not saying it, but I can see it in there. Fair. So I do this interview. I get on with them. Chris, I'm like, hey, I don't know if you remember me, but he's like, fuck, yeah, I remember you because I roadied for him, hung out with them all the time. But he's like, he's like, I always wondered what happened to you. I felt so bad and blah blah blah blah blah. And so we talked about it and he says, he goes, yeah, you are the most legendary tragedy of LA medal. Ever legendary tragedy. I like that, Yeah, he says that. So I played that for my kids. Like see, I wasn't bullshit there.

38:58 It is right there, and I didn't ask about it or bring it up. He brought it up in the interview. Oh my gosh, that's awesome. Right, So like when people call you out on your ship. Thank god he's got a Twitter. Oh yeah, oh yeah, you got the proof. And it's funny when you the first time we went to LA it's like you don't know who you're talking to, you know, like like you could be talking to anybody. And we were adopted in they we looked the way we did and we felt like we just came home. I mean they treated us like royalty. We're nobody's right, you know. And this guy we're out in the little courtyard area, you know, and right under you know, the big mural, there's this guy standing next to like a Mercedes or BMW and he's got like a khaki you know, shorts and a nice like polo shirt on. He's got a decent watch and he's on his phone. He sounds like like a cross between like Joe Peshy, you know, and like Scarface, and he's like, you know, you owe me a lot of money. I'm gonna come, you know, fucking tear out youryballs and use him as a course you're to pay my house or whatever.

40:00 Just something that's a good Sebastian Bach voice. By the way, Yeah, we got that story. We met Sebastian at the at the Rainbela. I was kind of drunk and Sebastian Bach was there, and I grew up loving Sebastian Bach, and so I don't give a shit. I was gonna go and talk to him. And he had his posse Eddie Trunk was there. I think there's another guy there too, I think somebody from the Cult. But they were all hanging out at the little Corner booth and at the Rainbow and I go up and we're we played some show that night, like Bullet Boys or something, and I was all glammed out and shit, and I go up to him like, dude, like I love your music, man, like you're the reason that I am a singer. And he looks me up and down. He's like, I couldn't tell from looking at you, brother, you'll be in skind Row. He's very nice. I could tell he was amused by it. I'm glad I didn't piss him off, But yeah, I loved it.

40:52 That's cool because a lot of them were dicks in the eighties and became cool. Like we were just talking about it the other day when the other Dan went festivals, Brett Michaels played, and he was a dick in the eighties, okay, And like I was a thrash metal head. So I ain't like the fucking hair metal glamp. I knew them before they became that way. That's why I didn't like them. And I sat there like backstage when all these bands would sign with the record labels, record labels, be like, Okay, you need to start dressing like this and write your music like this and this and that, and that's really what got me out of the music scene. So I'm like, fuck this. I will not pose out and sell out on my passion. I'll do that in the business world, but I won't do it in music, okay. And so he was always so full of himself and like a lot of them were, and now, nicest fucking guy in the world. He played a festival we were all hanging out backstage like it was now like two o'clock in the morning, way after the festival is over, and a bunch of us are hanging out production people. People aren't thrown out the trash like everyone. He comes up and shakes every single person's hand there and thanks them all for their part of making his life easier.

42:08 Yeah, he's always struck me as a good dude. I mean, I mean, for the most part, all the bands that I've looked up to have been really, really nice to me. And I think it is partially because they're older bands and they've gotten through that phase of we're rock stars and shit. But yeah, no, I've had nothing but good experiences with a lot of those guys. And you know, listen, I was there. It's hard not to be a dick. Like I went to the Motley Crue parties because I knew they couldn't handle every woman that was trying to get in no pan, So I'm just gonna be there when they get rejected. The leftoverson right, and the leftovers are better than the average. So like, if you're Motley Cruz leftover, you're still fucking hot, okay, And you know it's just it's amazing to a lot of those bands would never even be a band today because they'd get canceled in two seconds. The stuff that went on and what they wrote about and everything, but the record labels created that debauchery. They didn't just give them checks. They gave them cocaine and all kinds of drugs.

43:07 Let's keep them fucking high as a kite so we can steal all the fucking money from him. Yep, they're above the law, man, you know, no doubt, no doubt. But we excuse me this guy. So we're watching this guy and you know, and like I'm a newbie, you know, I'm naive, and I'm saying, man, this guy's a mafia guy. You know. He's screaming about somebody owned him money. You know. And later on, you know, I was upstairs at the Rainbow and that guy comes up to me and he goes, hey, man, how you doing. And I'm like, oh, I'm doing great. Man. He's like, yeah, my name is Shadow, and there's anything you need. You know, you having a good time. I said, dude, I am having the best time. He goes, well, if you need the cocaine, I need to mess cocaine in La. You just come to me. I got you, man. I was like, holy fuck man, Like the mafia owns this place, right right. Yeah. So but he kept showing up, like throughout the week that we were there, and so we went to see the Michael Bruce band do this prize show with the Viper. So we go down. Of course, you got to go in the back entrance, you know, in the side in the alley. He shows up and he goes, hey, you guys look like you could use a drink, you know. So he goes up to Turner's Liquor, comes back with you know, solo cuffs and Jack Daniels.

44:13 So we're sitting here like, well, we're okay, well in La I guess you know. And he just took care of us. And a friend of mine really loved Lemmy and Joey Ramon and I found a big poster with both of them in it. Wow, big twenty four thirty six, you know, black and white, great great shot. And I went to Shadow and I said, hey, bro, can you have the Rainbow staff sign this? And he went in there and he's like, hey, there's a good guy. He's got this postery. I want everybody decide, you stop doing what you're doing. You get over here and you sign this. Everybody did it. The waitresses, the cook, he went in the kitchen, you know. Wow. And so I was asking it, you know. A couple of days later, I was talking to the bouncer there. Really their staff by the way, Rainbow staff and the whiskey staff. Amazing. Yeah, they are family.

45:01 I will do. I'll step in front of a bus for this. Fuckers don't hold me to it, but I might. I'll think about it. So anyway, I walked up to the security guy and I said, Bro, what's it like working for Shadow is? I don't work for Shadow, And I'm thinking, oh, you're a third party, you know, like entity or whatever. I was like, well, like, you know he owns this place, right And he goes, oh no, No, he doesn't own the Rainbow or anything. I'm like, but he manages it. He goes no. I'm like, well, who the fuck is this guy? He's been taking care of us like he's the king of La for like a week. And he goes, oh, Shadow, Yeah, he's just this homeless guy that we let hang out here. And he just kind of hangs out and I'm like, but my point is, you don't know who you're talking to in La. Now we're walking down the street one night at two am.

45:46 This just happened like three or four months ago, and this guy is come. We're walking toward the whiskey, and this other guy's walking up sunset dressed like like you know, Banana Republic. Now he's got the white suit, he's got you know, like the the fedora. I mean, he's dressed to the nines at two am, right, And I'm a gabber, so I'm like, bro, man, congratulations you are dressed like I look at you, man, you know this is awesome. Right, And he turns to me and he does this bow and he goes into this show tune. He's got this white beard. He's just this old man singing these show tunes. And this girl is this friend of ours that was with us. She joins in and they're harmonizing and doing all this. They do this little dance this you know, Grace Kelly, and they finished with the florist. She curtsies, he bows, and he goes, I go, man, that was amazing.

46:36 He got a great voice. He goes, Yeah, my name's Odean I'm the original singer for Motley Cree. How you doing? And I'm like, wow, wow, that even predates me, because I that's what got me hooked on the whole La metal scene and clubs is. My first club show was nineteen eighty Motley Crew at the Roxy. There wasn't e that album yet, Okay, I had the original Too Fast for Love with the zipper on it. Really yeah, oh my god, kind of like sticky fingers. Yeah yeah, uh and I think there were like only thirty of them made or some shit like that. I don't have it now, fuck me. Uh but uh yeah, I mean like shit like that goes on and it's like just you don't know what's going right. I went to Metallica's first show ever nice and you know, talk about timing. I'm a Jersey boy. One day my dad comes home and he's like, pack your bags, we're moving to California in three days, right, And that was nineteen eighty.

47:40 Got and so you do not look that old man, I'm not kidding. Well, thank you, holy shit man. And so after Metallica, place such the true I think it was at the Troubadour or the Woodstock or some shit. I don't remember. Stude comes up to me that was in the band, right, starts talking to me, because it's what happened. The band would just come off, start talking to everybody in the club and then hey, let's go over our house and party, you know, And he hands me his business card. He had a business card, white card, blue writing, Metallica, power metal. There was no such thing as thrash, yet they were power metal for a minute.

48:24 Dave Mustain, Wow, right, ye businessman again? Fuck I wish I had that card, like, because oh yeah, I would in an interview pull it out in my pocket, like, hey, do you remember giving me this bro that I wish? Right, I mean, there's just so many you asked me stories, There's so many of them. And as he tell stories, you start thinking of all this other shit, you know, like the time we were leaving the Troubadour and I'm the driver and my bros asked me to stop at seven left and I'm barked waiting in the vehicle and They're running out of seven eleven with cases of beer under their arms. I'm like, oh shit, go go go.

49:14 You know, shit like that all the time, you know, And just I mean, I think about how lucky I was to experience that time and Metal because when I went to that Motley Cruise shirt the show, like they were horror punk men. They were trying to burn the roxy down to bring Satan in, like literally they have fire everywhere. I'm like, this is the best thing ever. I'm never going to a real concert ever again. And from then on, I was at one club or another every Friday and Saturday night for some show. Saw every band there ever was. I saw a striper open for Slayer, if you can imagine.

49:56 That's that. That's why Metallic and slag Or left LA because there was no way to play with, you know, and it was a bullshit scene, you know. So then when they left, me and my bro you said, Greyhounds, We used to take the Greyhound or hitchhike up to San Francisco to Bay Area to go to shows. And then we're like, holy fuck, now that's a show because like we thought we were cool in LA, and they're like, oh, bay Area was awesome, Oh my god, unbelievable, you know, and like so got to see Exodus when Kirk was in Axous, you know, and shit like that. Got to see Possessed in the beginning, Dark Angel and fucking like and then you got to see Alison Chains get booed off stage because they're playing with all the thrash bands. And then of course we know what happened after that.

50:52 You know, I saw their last show at Kansas City, Missouri Kiss Tour. Wow. That was that was. I was never a huge fan, you know, I appreciated it. You know, I didn't get into them until like jar Flies right right, and I walked in and Lane Staley's voice, Man, it was powerful. Like it was even all the thrash bands They're like, fuck, this band's gonna get big, like they were nervous about it. Really. Yeah, it's like this, I'll tell you. Also, all the other thrash bands they knew Metallica was the one. They were like, there's something about that, which is you know, it's pretty funny just to talk about music, talent and stuff like. That's why I found out in LA you can have talent and go nowhere, and you can have no talent and go to the fucking moon. And you know, I love Metallica and one of my favorite bands, but there's so many people that criticize their actual talent, right, I don't know that.

51:53 I agree. I think Hatfield's well and the fastest fucking strummer ever. You know, his trick, he has a trick. He uses three fingers with the pick really okay, so he has more supportive pick and doesn't drop it, so he could go like that and and the pick stays and doesn't flex or anything. How about that? And he hated his voice back then. I like his voice better back then, you know, you know, but like he always complains, like, yeah, the San Jose Sharks, they played the original Seeking Destroy. I wish they'd played a newer one because my voice sucked then, because he didn't learn how to sing until after.

52:36 And like he used to be in the beginning kind of shy and in the background. You know, even though he was a singer, he wasn't a front man like that. He became it. Yeah, and one of the best ever, you know. So he told all these stories. He told some of your stories. But let's talk about your music now that we've done probably the longest festival interview ever. Right, Luckily I had a break between interviews today yours, and then my next one was two thirty, so we got good shit. But and you have time or else you had said, fuck off, let's go. Yeah. Wait wait, I would have seen it. No.

53:16 You know, you can tell when somebody's like, okay, it's done. Josh does a lot of song righty. I'm on the heavier side, I guess, and more of the punk side. Josh has a great sense of melody, and he's just a gifted guitar player, you know, a shameless plug. Right I paid him to say that. Nice how he got here. And I do love that you can take the punk and put it with the melody. So many people back then don't do that, and all the gatekeeping shit, you know, like that was that was the sucky part about the eighties, Like I couldn't go to punk shows. I loved punk, but I couldn't go I get my ass beat, you know, And so I love that. It's cool we can be at Rocklahoma here and there's a punk band playing today, there's a country band playing today, and there's a metal band playing today, and the rock band you know, like just all of that.

54:10 Josh is just he's more classic rock, you know. Nice. I mean it's weird because you know, when I met him, he was much younger than me, and and he was. He's a walking encyclopedia. I mean half the time we're on road trips rest in a Black Oak Karkansas, and he nice everything about it. He's like a Wikipedia page of any band. Okay, then i'll have when we're done with this part of it, I'm trivia question. I'm setting about for a trivia question. Do you want now? Sure, let's do it now? Yeah, okay, it's when I think it'll be an easy one. Then I hope. What was Black Sabbath's original name? Oh God, I'm gonna look like such a jackass here.

54:54 And I'll let him answer since he knows it after you fail. Oh, go ahead. For some reason, I'm thinking of Coven, but that's a different band entirely. Yep, it's Earth, that's right, Ding ding ding, We have a winner. Yeah you did look at that. Yeah, ask him about Black Coak, ar Kansas. Ok No, he's like that guy in the in the Adam Sandler movies. You can't understand it what he says. But he is the sweetest dude you will ever meet. And what I like about Jim, and we both known Jim for a long time for through different avenues. When he's on stage he could be in front of ten people or ten thousand, always smiling, always smiling, and it's a genuine smile, you know, and it's of course you know that he's a deviant, which is great. We're sitting there at a signing with him, We're sitting next to him, and he talks like a pirate.

55:51 It's great. And there's these little you know, this guy with his kids there and he's signing stuff and he's talking to me and my buddy and he's like and then we're over on the coast and we had a little menage act and I'm like, dude, that kid's like ten man, like, come on. And my wife called me. They stayed with us for a while and my wife called me. She's like, black Oak, Arkansas is on our house. It's like freaking midnight. And I said, how'd that go? You? The next day we were out of town, she goes, Jim sat in our gazebo and told me his entire life story. But he I guess he doesn't understand boundaries, and he just gets closer and closer. And my wife's like, okay, Jim.

56:31 That's awesome, you know, so I can get that because I don't like that either. It's like, but he's just a genuine guy. Yeah, and that's what I aspire to be. That's what Josh definitely is. You know, I love that. That's the way it should be in You know, it's funny you say about on stage because you can tell as a listener whether somebody's into it or not into it. And that's smiling that you're talking about, Like, I want you guys up there having a fucking blast, because otherwise why you and this business? There's no other reason. I do this for fun? Who would do you say? Your music from your point of view and your point of view would be the biggest influence or the biggest influence that made you want to be in music.

57:19 I mean, for me, it was Aerosmith. I loved the groove and the melody and they blended that all with hard rock, and that was the I grew up in Nebraska, so I was surrounded by country bands, so all I knew even if it was rock and roll. It was like the Marshall Tucker Band and I and nothing wrong with I love those guys right too. But like my introduction to heavier music was Aerosmith's Rocks album nice, and I thought, that's there's so much more beyond this melodic pop country that was big at the time. And yeah, Steven Tyler was my still is my vocal hero. I love him so much and it's so sad that they had to cancel of the tour because his vocals are gone. I'm glad that they made that decision because I would rather they go out. I saw them once when I was like twelve. I was gonna go see them again.

58:05 Now. I would rather have the memory of having seen them when I was a kid and being blown away than watching him half ascid and struggle. And this might not be a nice thing to say, but I'd rather see him go out the way he's going out than Vince Steel. Oh yeah, I'm with you on that because I loved. Vin Sneil's voice. But you're a train wreck now. You know. It's that simple, and I hate to say it, but it will happen to all of us, like at some point you don't just have you just don't have the tools anymore because we get old and we lose shit. And you know, it's very rare that a singer can be as good, like even I'm a huge Slayer fan. I miss the days when Tom could scream back in the day. Yeah, you know you can't and it's okay, but I miss it, you know type of thing. Yeah, you're gonna hate me.

58:56 Oh oh. I was doing radio coverage for this conference called NAB, which is a broadcasting conference, and the keynote speaker was Steven Tyler. Yeah, and. It ripped off, so I don't have it anymore. But he gave me one of these things oh yeah, and so I've wore it for like a while, like he personally he has I don't even remember what it said, but he personally gave it to me. I'm like, he's just one of those dudes that when he walks into a room, he's unmistakably Stephen. Tyler, no doubt. If it's that aura that I love about him. But you know what's funny too, is my son came home from school one day a new song came out and he goes, Damn, there's this new band. They're really fucking good. They're called Arrowsmith. I'm like, yeah, they were a new band when I was a kid too.

59:51 My dad hated rock and roll. He love country. So my first concert was Johnny. Cash and that's a good one, yo. Yeah, I still got the tour program and everything. But then any he hated rock and roll, hated it, like he walked out on Willie Nelson because Willie Nelson had long hair and you know, wow. But he took me to see the seventy seven Kiss concert. And this was before you know, TV and or before TV, before the internet, before they were really on TV all the time. I didn't. I didn't, you know. I just see see him in pictures and the album covers, right, and to see them actually, like I couldn't believe they were real, right. So yeah, for me, you know, it was Kiss, Motley Crue. That's always been my influence. Is now I listen to everything from funk to jazz to country to whatever, you know, whatever's good, you know. But back in the day, if you came to school on your first day with your Motley Cruze shirt, and you came to school the second day with a Depeche Mode shirt, you're gonna get your ass beat and you have no friends.

1:00:48 Well, in my day, if you came in the school one year with Motley Cruze short, it was cool. The next year you're a Slayer show and somebody's ripping that off your body and throwing it up to he's burning it on stage, you know. And yeah, I mean it's funny. Kiss has been common theme this weekend and for me too, Like everybody like that I've talked to, it's like Kiss is either an influencer, they loved him or whatever, or that's what got into it. Me too. I was a Jersey boy. I went to the Jersey Shore. I think I was in first grade. I can't remember kiss. It just came out. I didn't know who they were, okay, and I was playing this carny game that I won.

1:01:39 I picked it because there were albums up there. I didn't have any albums yet. All my albums I stole from my brother that was eleven years older ID and to the classic rock person. A couple of weeks ago, I interviewed John Lodge. You know who that is. Yes, even went to the show, and I told them in the interview, like, yeah, I know about you because I stole my brother's album that was eleven years older me and started listening to you, because yeah, thank god for older brothers. That's all our fans are, just like you, you know. But I looked up and I saw this black album with these four faces, like, holy shit, that's the one I want.

1:02:23 And it just came out. And so my first album I ever owned that was mine was the original Kiss album when it first came out, right, And then it's funny we were talking about the Beatles. Then why am I We had to do some report oral report in school, and when my friends came into oral report on the Beatles and started playing their music in class, and I automatically became like a Beatles freak. So my bedroom was Posters walla wall, no wall, and like I'm like, I'm fucking bipolar, split down the fucking middle. Kiss on this side, Beatles on this side. But then I talk about and a lot of people don't never figured it out they are And I know you probably think because of what you said earlier, they were so similar, like Kiss pattern themselves after the Beatles. You know, Gene and Paul on every song, no matter who wrote it, Paul and John on every song, no matter who wrote it, whoever wrote the song, sang the song like, there were so many things, and when I tell people about them, both be my like, how could they both be your favorite bands? That just doesn't make any sense, and then I tell them why it does make sense.

1:03:43 They had great pop miller pop sense on those first three four albums. Kiss is a pop band there, you know. I mean they were a heavier pop band, you know. So I got a question for you, and this is a dissension between us. How do you pronounce Blueyster Cult? You just brought up a story. I got a great story. I did too, But how do you pronounce how do you say it blue ice er cold? See? I apparently I say it blue oyster Colt. Apparently that's wrong. Yeah, that's wrong. I heard Buck Dharma say it one time that way. Okay. So I have another trivia question for you. Sure if you know the answer, just say you know the answer and we'll wait till after I tell a story for the answer. But if you don't know the answer, it didn't show it how much you don't know? Yeah, Blue icer Colt? Did they ever have another name? Like Black Sabbath? I named Earth?

1:04:38 Yeah? I know that one. Okay. So in Jersey there was this place. Sometimes it was a strip club, sometimes it was a music club, and it was art stocks playpen. We used to call it the pig pen. And I walked in there one day and there was this band playing really good and they were doing cover song of Godzilla. I'm like, fuck, that's really good. And their name was up on the marquis whoever the band was, and turns out it was Blue Asher Cold playing as Soft White Underbelly. That's insane. Yeah.

1:05:19 So anytime that they would go on tour, and you notice as a band, a lot of bands do this, they'll do their warm upside club under a different name. So they always used their original name when they would do that, and nobody knew it was them until they started playing the songs that people knew. I don't know that one. I don't know that name. Blue it was Soft White Underbelly. Oh yeah, gosh see he knew. Yeah. Well, my cousin grew up in Long Island. She saw them when that was originally their name back in like the sixties, yes, and so she saw them as literally that was who they are as I. Yeah, It's just I wish I was around in that era when I could have seen all those right, and.

1:06:01 To see him in the club I saw Man Club in the nineties, you know, And another story like that. I live in Florida's dating this girl. There's this place in Fort Laurdale called Cheers that used to have punk rock karaoke and it was called Skaraoke. It's called Skaraoke Awesome. And she calls me. She's outside waiting online to get into the place. She's like, man, there's this really good Iron Man cover band playing inside. I'm like, that's cool. And this place is a fucking dive bar, Like it's not even a club. This place is about as big as this little area here. And she walks inside calls me back. She's like, oh my fucking god, it's Iron Maiden.

1:06:49 Nico lives in Boca. He even owns a restaurant there, so they would go there to play a show before they're going on tour to warm up. We did a show in Nebraska and Bluister Cult was on the bill, but because of COVID at the time, they were like, well, they really don't want an opening act, so they said, you guys are coming all the way from Arizona, we'll put you on. You know, there's an act that's gonna be there this week. And then Raven was going to be there on Thursday and we went to see Raven in some club in you know, Arizona, and I was like, I saw it on their tour shirt Lincoln, Nebraska. I said, I'm gonna see you guys on Thursday and Lincoln and they're like, no way, and oh yeah. So we ended up hanging out with them, but they were like, well, we'll give you passes to Blueister Cult just because Okay, so we had three days of we had we got to hang out, you know with those guys, and then we did our show and then Blowister Cult. So we're standing there right before sound check and their advanced girl comes in and she goes, Okay, everybody needs to put on their masks right now because Blueister Cult's on their way in the building. And I looked at the sound guy and I was like, well, I guess they do fear their reaper then, and no buddy laughed like I was like, really, come on, I mean.

1:08:06 I laughed instantly. That's like that's an opening. I take that opening. Well. Then Josh scared buck Derma. Later he tried to hug him. I did. I felt really bad about it. I have these little moments where I realized that I'm standing next to a person that was really crucial in my musical development. I'm like, holy shit, and back then I didn't contain it as well as I do now. But well, that's for a different story time. We could probably do that all day long. So if people want more stories or more music, how did they reach you? Guys? Connect them socials to web and all that.

1:08:46 Well, we have our own Facebook page. Just look up ten cent Revenge. We're on Facebook. That's where we're kind of mostly active. We have Twitter, Instagram, you know, the usual social media. A lot of our stuff is on our website too. We upload all of our videos there, which I think you should check out our videos because we try to be self deprecating. I punched Josh on camera. We've gotten slapped on camera. The singer pretty Boy Floyd through water at my face one time. I got into a fight with Stormtrooper out in the crowd last night. I went up to him. I'm like a fucker.

1:09:30 We always try to poke fund at ourselves. You know, we take our music seriously, but we just don't take the We don't take ourselves seriously. I think that's the way to be. We like to have a little bit of humor in there. You should take the music seriously, but everything else not so much. And I think, now, take the other side of press. I see a lot of bands come through press and they take it way too seriously, like you're talking to him and it's like nothing like total And even me, I'm like, like, we're doing this interview now, can you believe it? An hour and ten minutes. It's almost the longest I've ever done. We're monopolizing the entire press booth.

1:10:11 Here, right, But like if there's something like that five minutes, I'm like, yeah, I can't even handle this fucking shit anymore. You know, it depends. That's why I think the conversations are good, because it gets people to open up. You find out more, and you're comfortable, you're not like stressing out that to me, the worst part of a musician's job is press, and not because it's press, but because it's the business side of it and you're a fucking artist. You don't want to do this business shit and walk around to thirty people and answer the same fucking question thirty times that you want to shoot yourself because you didn't want to be here anyway type of thing.

1:10:55 No, I love doing these things, and that's the thing that Josh and I kind of have a connection to where we love all aspects of the business. We love playing the shows. I love the travel. I mean literally, yesterday we were on the road for fourteen hours just to go to Nebraska is to be assholes. That's why when you're looking at me, you're like, what happened to this man? I've been on I've been drying what twenty eight hours or something last two days? Everything, you know, the interviews, the talking to people, And that's why we were just talking about this yesterday. I was like, we're so lucky that, you know, we could be accountants, so we could be male carriers or whatever. We are pretty and we get to see things that nobody gets to see. And some of it's so weird that people don't believe it. You know, you'll see stuff that nobody gets to.

1:11:43 See, kind of like buses, boobs and buttles right right. You know. But it's just you know, I love being in the studio. I own a studio back home, you know, I love it. I love every bit of it. I love the writing press, I love hearing that. You know, if there's never a dull moment in rock and roll, there really isn't. I mean other than I guess if you're driving, you know, twenty five hours. But I got to see you're a true musician. That's what that tells me, because there's other people that don't think the same way, you know. And it's funny, like my youngest daughter sometimes I'll bring her a festival and after the first day, halfway through the first day, she's like, I'm done. I don't know how you do this every weekend, dad, because I'm fucking done already yet, Like I don't know how I don't, Like I've said, like with Ozzy, I'm like, he's gonna die if he doesn't tour anymore type of thing, you know, because like that's his love, you know. And I feel bad for him because it's like what must be going through his mind right now that he can't gig, you know, and who even fuddied be alive? I know, like of all the people that should have been in the twenty seven club, oh yeah, oh my god, oh yeah, like ease proof that do whatever the fuck you cause who knows what's gonna happen.

1:13:04 My favorite story is, yeah, we have the fortune of being friends with Michael Bruce and Michael, he's just he's the nicest, sweetest guy you'll ever meet, you know. And and I Josh was talking to him one day and he said something like, you know what, why'd you make those decisions? You know when you're And Michael's literally like, Josh, I didn't think i'd live this long, buddy, you know. But we were sitting out at dinner one night and I I would again, I'd walk in front of a bus for Michael Bruce and his wife Lynette. They're just beautiful people. And We're out at dinner one night and Michael's like, hey, man, tell me a story, you know, like and he's genuine like tell me. You're like, what happened on the road with you? And I was like, oh, this one time we stayed up past midnight, we had some beers, and he goes, man, I can totally relate because this one time I was hanging around with Jimmy Hendricks.

1:13:54 I'm like, Michael, shut the fuck up with the don't do that to me. And he's like, yeah, we were with this seance with the doors and I'm holding Jim Morrison's hand and Jim's like, bro, you're really fucking weird. And he goes, well, our record label said that the doors were you guys were into the seance shit, and Jim Morrison's like, no, they said, you guys are into this shit. So they're all holding hands in a circle with candles and shit. None of the wanted to be there in the first place. And I'm like, Michael, don't ask me about our little tiny stories and then you just throw that on the table like see right. But he doesn't do it to you know, like, oh, this is what I did. He's genuinely like, man that like this is cool, right, And.

1:14:36 I'm like, exactly, I can toy feel that because that's toy me. It's like, like it was such an experience. How could you not share these experiences? That's the best Michael's stories. He hangs around with Michael oh Man. I love the guy to death man because he's no pun intended. But he's so. Unaware of how famous the Alice Cooper band was back in the early seventies, and so when I hear names like Elton John or Ringo Star, I'm like blown away. And he's like, oh, I used to just smoke weed with these guys and we would just hang out like that's an entirely different world to me, and so talking to him is like getting a little glimpse into an era of music history that I was obsessed with.

1:15:20 And I just think it's great he got thrown a telling the Turtles story. Oh so, the Turtles sixties band Michael used to tour with back in the day. I thought it'd be a nice gesture if I took Michael Bruce to see the Turtles, because they're playing in town on like this Happy Together reunion tour or something, and I didn't tell anybody I was bringing the original guitar player from the Alice Cooper band, and people don't recognize him as much when you see him in person. But we get there and he's like, all right, cool, I'll catch you guys later, and he lifts up the security barrier and walks backstage. I'm like, well, I probably should have alerted someone as to who this was.

1:16:02 And he comes back about fifteen minutes later, he's like, all right, we gotta go, and he just left, and I didn't see him like two or three days later. I'm like, what in the hell. And so when I finally talked to him, he's like, well, I walk back there, and some security guy came up to me. He's like, hey, what are you doing here? And he's like, oh, I left my press badge at home. I'm sorry, and he's like okay. Right on, he goes into the Turtles dressing rooms eating their food and stuff, and another guy comes in. He's like, what are you doing here, man? He's like, oh, I'm doing a security check. I'm at corporate. He's like, you're not our corporate guy for security. And he just kept having these little interactions with people who had no idea who he was. I just think that's the greatest thing. What's so funny about that is thats my experience almost every year at Rocklahoma with this dude. He might be in here now, he keeps coming through Sean Nations. He's in this van even in death. I interviewed him the first year and then we've become friends. He just gets anywhere in Rocklaholma. He gets everybody of these golf cart drivers to get us a golf cart to go somewhere and shit like that, and like he just knows everybody. Yeah, and they all like like he's fucking Alice Cooper and they're treating him like you know it it Sometimes some people got it. They just got it, and it is about just acting like, you know, like you belong, you know, it's like, and don't be a dick. Like we get punished media people because of idiot other media people. One time,

1:17:34 we're at another festival when the media people went backstage, went into Rob Zombie's dressing room, didn't knock and asked for an interview. Can you imagine doing that shit? And then we all get punished for it. Okay, okay, you guys can't go backstage anymore now, you know. It pisses me off, you know, like, just be cool, just like anybody that comes to work with me here, don't ask for an autograph, don't ask for a selfie. This is their safe zone. We're here to work. And it happens a lot like so Zach Wilde. He's so nice and he comes in to the intent and all met and people are crying around his autograph and selfies and shit, and store managers finally say come on, guys, saying a fucking meet and greet. We're working here. And one time Phil from Pan Terror, who I'm friends with, he's back there and people are doing something he's also nice guy.

1:18:33 I'm friends with his wife. His wife pulls me aside, like, can you please talk to him? Because he will never leave. He's too nice to these people. So I go up to him and whispers here, I'm like, your wife's getting pissed, you need to go, and then he whispers back to me in my ear he goes, man, my fucker shit shocked tonight. Yeah, will come up to me afterwards. And this is so how they are the fanboy and a fig girl. What do you say to him? Why do you say? You know your fucking business? You know. But it's like, if you're gonna act like that, of course they're not gonna want to do interviews with you.

1:19:16 Of course they're not gonna want to come in here, and you're gonna screw it for everybody else. You know. It's like you just kind of know how to act. Slip Knot one of my favorite bands ever. What's so fucking weird? I've never interviewed Corey. I've interviewed his wife several times. Friendly. She's cool as shit. But I'm also in type of other people like ask go to her to connect to Corey. I won't fucking do that. She wants to get her own promotion. She wants to go on her own two feet, and that's a dick move to use her to get to Corey. I've also interviewed Griffin, who's playing today, you know vend and one time I did have a chance to interview Corey, who was that rock on the range. Tour manager comes out, We're bringing Corey out to you in five minutes. Two minutes later a tornado hit and we were evacuated, you know, And that was my only chance. But I did have a chance to hang out and talk to Corey. Way before that, I was interviewing Roy Mayorga on the tour bus. I get off the tour bus, I go send the curb.

1:20:26 I'm smoking a cigarette and this dude walks over, sits down, starts talking to me, talk about the weather and Georgia the night before. You're a band, you understand, like this is what you talk about like. People don't understand. They think it's like some big in depth conversations. It's shit like that. And I knew who I was talking to, but I pretended like I didn't, and we just sat and talked for like a half an hour and never did I acknowledge ever again that I knew who he was, had that one time, and then it was really hot and he was getting on stage and he's coming off stage on cider and he looks at me and he's like, it's fucking hot here, you know. And but the reason he did that is because I didn't acknowledge who he was.

1:21:18 I just had a conversation with him. That's it. And that's the way you should act, you know, because listen, when you're an artist, you kind of want to escape that ship sometimes. And I always say, this is the artist's safe zone. We're in the safe zone. They want that shit, they're going to go out there, you know, and so you just gotta be cool. And I like it. At some points, you know, there's a time and a place. Yeah, at the time that I like to go out. I love to talk to people. I love to meet people, you know, love. To hear their stories when it's the right time, right. But there's times that you know, like when you're eating or when you're perfect example, you know, And I don't have fanboys. I had one. This guy figured out my address somehow. Oh yeah, I know at my house, Like, hey man, about this base you think it's cool, and I'm like, I'm mowing my lawn, Like, what the fuck are you doing here?

1:22:08 Man? You know, I use a nice dude. Or he called me in the middle of the night, like, bro, what are you doing right now? It's two thirty. I gotta go to work the next day, and I'm like, yeah, dude, we're just hanging men, we're partying, we're writing the new album. Man, I'll talk to you soon, all right, brother. And my wife's like, why do you do that? Just tell him to fuck off? And I was like, because he's living through me. He is so excited that, like he's probably sit there with his buddy's going I'm gonna call him. And I was a nobod. I'm still a nobody, you know, but it was just I get that little. I couldn't imagine being on that level. That would drive me, but I don't know how I would handle it, you know. I try to be really cool and I love everybody, but I understand those guys. So when I see them, you know, nowadays, I'm just like I wave or it's just like, you know, usually we're working together.

1:22:55 Well, Alicia has told me the people Corey likes best or the people that walk by and say, hey, what's up, dude and keep walking. Yeah, and that's the. Way it should be. If they want to talk to you, they'll talk to you. Or if there really are your friend, then you'll hang on talk, you know. And it's not people think they're being assholes, are unapproachable. No, they're cool as shit, but they need their downtime. They need like especially you gonna go hit them up right after they just got off fucking stage and they just want to chill out for a few minutes. I have some respect, you know, Like even in doing interviews, I find no a band just got off stage and they come up and I see that, like, like, if you need to chill for a few minutes, just chill, you know, because you gotta get like put yourself.

1:23:46 In their shoes, you know. And there are, unfortunately, because of the Internet and social media, are two main press people that are not press people. They're just fanboys fangirls and they figure it out way the monopoly on that. So, but you guys are fucking badass, And uh, what what do you want to tell people about your band that we haven't covered because we covered just about every fucking thing else. Josh has a third nipple. Nice is it? Is it like and Chandler Bank. Well, you can find out at the what is It Bus Boobs and Buttholes rally tonight. You'll see for yourself.

1:24:29 Josh is going viral tonight. Oh that not the only thing going viral tonight. I think that's like the best way to end an interview right there. So check them out. They might I can't guarantee they might do a live performance at the Bus Boobs and Buttholes. Bus No instruments acapella. Acapella with kazoos. The color of the two flute dudes. Catch us, I love it. That might get us canceled, though. Well, thanks a lot guys for being here at Oklahoma, and thanks for being on the Adventures of Pipe Man.

1:25:09 Absolutely absolutely thank you for listening to the Adventures of Patement on w for CUI Radio.
