04 Hey, you lived on two such sure, I'm on four see wow, you wake up America. It's time for the adventures. So pipe Man on W four c YI com weistpom Beats is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the pipe Man here. What's behind because I don't even know that everything. This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four C Y Radio. And back from the Pipe Man Radio Tour temporarily until I go to app to Shock. And as you know, I've been to several festivals, but there was one festival in particular that this band was ain't gonna play at. But Weather had a different idea. So let's welcome to his show, tap Root. How are you well? Man? It's Steve.
21 How are you Steve? And so, did was that wild or what? Let's just start there. That weather that just came out of nowhere. Yeah, it was kind of a bomber because we drove all the way from Michigan down to Virginia and then, you know, I heard that the first night didn't go so great, but the second one was okay. But it started raining on our day, so they just ended up calling it. We were there for you know, hours, and hours just killing time. So it was a bomber because we look forward to getting out there, and you know, there were a lot of people we knew going to that show, and it sounded terrible for the people that were camping and had to take buses out. They had to wait for six hours the one night where they got hit by lightning and all of that stuff. So I understand with it raining outside, they you know, just wanted to watch their butts and make some insurance money whatever. Yeah. Right, well I'll tell you interesting story since you're on tour with this band. So as I was being evacuated on I think it was Thursday, and I was going back to camp, the storm started and this storm came like I have nowhere and I live in Florida, So I'm like, there must be a tornado nearby because and I don't know if there was or wasn't, but everything that happened would indicate it was.
43 And so as the storms starting, I'm walking by the Heartsick site and so me and my photographer we ran to their canopy because they had all their equipment there like outside yea, And so we're helping them hold down the canopy and it literally lifted four of us off the ground. Oh my gosh. Yeah. So then we let it go and then there are other canopy. We were holding that one down and then we all started getting pelted by hail. Yeah. It was a trip. So yeah, makes for a good story.
30 My god, I'm sorry to hear that. I know that that's a rocket Roll story, right, Yeah it is. That's cool. You were hanging out with heart Sick for a minute though. They're they're opening for us on our show on Friday. Yeah, so you'll have to talk to them about it, because here's the bonus. I don't know how late you stayed there on Saturday, but Saturday night, Heartsick put on a campground show with three other bands they headlined. Yeah, and it was sick. Oh, it was. It was sick. I mean, like, to me, it's unfortunate for you to band, but to me as somebody that was just happened to be there and it kind of sucked, that was a good way to make it not suck. It was almost like better than the actual festival, you know, to this impromptu punk rock style campground show right here.
26 Hell yeah, that's awesome. Yeah. We when we ended up deciding that we were just going to go back. We ended up tweeting out that are not tweeting, but putting on our Facebook that we were just going to go to a local bowling alley. So anyone that was reading our message that was from out of town or whatever. So we got to meet a whole bunch of people that came just to go bowling. I mean, we didn't moole. We just drank and did karaoke there you go. And you know a lot of bands were doing that because like you weren't alone. There were so many bands that were canceled and there were like pop up shows showing up everywhere. Uh but for you for bands. And the reason I'm talking about this too is I think listeners don't understand because sometimes they blame the bands for this crap. You know. It's like, oh, they should play it anyway, you know, And like that's why I wanted to hear your end of it, because you guys really want to play there, you know. Oh absolutely, We're trying to promote the new stuff as best we can. We don't need to not you know, you know, try to push our product, you know, because we're really excited about the new music. And so let's talk about that. Okay. So I absolutely dig a favorite song.
36 I love the title of that song because it's like, it's kind of cool in one respect, it's smart in another respect because it's like you always ask somebody, or at least I do, what's your what's your favorite song? And so now it could just be favorite song. That's yeah, it's easy to say. And I just love, you know. I love getting deep into the songs that are really you know whatever. But I think that most most songs that make you think too hard, you need a break from every once in a while. So if people you know ask you know a little the song about him, I want to just listen to the chorus. It's about not knowing the words of your favorite song, but you still sing to it. Everyone can relate to that, I know. And how funny is it too, how many people sing their favorite song and it's the wrong words.
23 Absolutely, I'm still a guy. I don't actually sing karaoke. Let the other guys do it. But if I was going to do karaoke, I'd probably need to read eighty percent of the lyrics my favorite songs, whatever it might be at that time. I'm a drummer, and then a guitarist the last thing I needed lyrics and or vocalists, I know, right, and then just sometimes even the best of us like it just so much sounds like another word, and you just when you've been doing it for five, ten, twenty years singing the wrong lyric, you think it's the real lyric. Yep, that's the best. Part Two is I think, uh, you know, we have a lot of non point things song. And I'm pretty sure on the last chorus because I say every time I seem to sing along, and I'm pretty sure he said every time I sing to sing along.
13 So I think both words criss cross on the same the same part. So it's like not even the same lyrics, which is great. Oh that's cool. See I like hearing stuff like that. And so how did that come about that you did the song with Elias? We've known each other forever and I knew I wanted to have someone on that bridge. I just wasn't sure exactly who. He obviously kept popping up in my mind, but you know a lot of and when I told him, you know, I'm trying to find someone that, they all said alias. So I was like, Okay, that's not a problem. So I got to hold the rob the drummer, and ask fors info, called him up, sent them on the track and let me some great vocal and I just had him chinched two words and I mean ailed it. He made this song, you know in my eyes, the eight to nine nice and so tell us about the rest of the album that is dropping on the twenty ninth only a few days called Scissors.
15 Yeah. Basically most wrote, you know, about ten years ago to be the tap record following the episodes. But we kind of had some falling out between can band member stuff like that. I had to take a break and then I would carry my mom before the way. And what sparked this whole thing was like, all right, I need to focus on something and do something productive. And I was gonna just do this record and releases. I mean, I did the record on my own impything and recorded it. But he says, Philly just gonna promote it to you know, a couple of thousand friends, fans and followers and all that, and just kind of put it out there like, hey, check it out if he gets a lot. You know. My basis was like, hey, that's not cool, because we knew the songs ten years ago, the demos, like, we love that stuff, and it was supposed to be the next staff Root, so we're gonna make this the next staff Root. And I was like, oh, okay, so when I we're full in playing a whole bunch of shows and got a CD and LPs and skateboards and all that nons outside of it, so I'm cool with it. Nice. I like that you have skateboards too, because I'm a skateboard It's like, it's such a cool piece of merch. I think. I think everybody should buy your skateboard.
31 I agree, like I don't. I'm a hockey skater. I can't do the skateboards. I have to have two separate feet to do anything properly. But my daughter just turned thirteen, so I got her one of those and she loves it. See it's funny you should say what you did because I do skate also, but I'm I like the one board thing and I like not being attached. So if I'm gonna eat crap, I can dive off right. And same with snow stuff, Like I'm not big on the skin, but the snowboarding I like better because it's the one board, but I do skate a lot, and it's funny. My my ice skating coach, he would always say to me, like, you need to take more risks, and it goes right along with what I was just saying. It was like, because those skates are attached to me, I'm thinking, yeah, I don't want to eat shit faure enough. But yeah, I don't know, it seems it seems scary to me on a board for some reason.
35 If it's like two feet most walk in. If you're you're gonna go, you can kind of control it. I know you can bail, but that other more teams if you get like scrape and craps. Yeah, well you know. I'm also a surfer too, and you know the first thing they teach you when surfing or skateboarding is how to fall. That's like the first thing you learn, like what to do when you're going to fall, because basically it's inevitable. First, I got you, Well it makes sense. But yeah, you're a surfer, so you're you're a double triple if you're on a snowboard. Yeah you need that. Yeah, exactly. So tell us about the upcoming shows too. You got a bunch of Coal upcoming shows, So all those people that missed you at Blue Ridge, you know, maybe they can catch you at one of these other shows and it might even be more fun. Yeah, no, it's gonna be a blast. The CD comes out this Friday, the twenty ninth, which is also my wife's birthday, so that's double special. But then that's also at our our hometown place for the you know, it's the Machine Shop in Flint. Any band that tourist class, but you know me the bat on the Country. Everyone loves it there, so for us, it's gonna be great. We sold out three nights in a row, and that's like our hometown place. We have people coming from Poland, from Canada, from South America, Germany, so it's gonna be really cool to meet a whole bunch of new people and you know, play some new music and celebrate the holiday and the record nice.
05 So how do people connect to you guys? On socials? On the web, Get the new album, check out the tour dates, buy your merch by your skateboarding including including that Yeah no, I mean just anything. There's you know, official tap root, tap Root, official tap Root merch, all those dot coms and or on the social platforms. It's it's fine of all, and just look up tap Roots Saussors. It's the new one and we're pretty stoked about it. Well, I've heard some of it, and I'm pretty stoked about it too. Everybody's definitely got to check it out. And uh man, it's so badass to have new music from you after all these years. And thanks for being on the Adventures of pipe Man.
46 Oh dude, thank you so much for having me. I appreciate it. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of Pipe Man on W four CUI Radio.
