04 Hey you lunt, Yes, that's true. Wow, crae you. It's the pipe Man here on the Butts Pipe Man W four c Y Radio and I'm here with sorry nice here at Bloodstock. We are a little Birdie told me like you won some competition and ended up here. What's that all about? Yeah? The weird thing is we're from Leeds but we went up to Burnley and won Melt to the Masses, So yeah, we had a bit of a trek to go and win it. So nice. What made you go up to that one? Well, we sat. I wanted to challenge ourselves a little bit, to be honest, because we did play before down in Leeds and stuff.
45 But we thought if we can get through with no fans up. There, like no one because he smiles away from us, then I think we've done all right. So winning so it was a shocker. So yeah, wow, that's why here too. From a lot of bands that win, none of them expect to win. No, And I think that's a testament to you guys. Being true artists. Yeah, because true artists, they're the worst critics of themselves. Okay, no one. A harsher critic than we are of our cells. It's like even me, I get off an interview and I'm like, oh I sucked, and they're like, thanks a lot. That was really great. Yeah, And so what's it feel like to be here at Bloodstock?
32 Absolutely incredible. I honestly cannot even describe it. I don't know whether it's making it better or worse that we're playing on the Sunday because the pressure is building up. The more bands we see, the more pressure there is. And the fact that there's only one of the band on when we're on, he's going to be honestly, it's going to be incredible. We're both excited and nervous. But yeah, well I'm sure you'll kill it. Yeah. Again, you're nervous too. You go up on stage and turn the mic on and then it's like you're in the zone. Soon is that first song goes down, We'll be fine it. I do it too, we all do it. It's like your switch is off until the mic goes on, then the switch turns on. Yes, exactly, agreed. So describe to our listeners how you would describe your music, not a genre, but as artists, how would you describe your music?
22 Atmospheric, heavy as all hell, didn't really want to go into genre, but it is sort of branded within death Care. So we're pretty heavy, and he's come round to the fact of I think he's pretty in at the moment, so I think we've London all right. But yeah, he's very groove based. It's very bouncy. A lot of breakdowns energy, Yeah. Just a lot. And what was that one moment for all three of you that in your life you decide music is what you had to do. So the first instrument that I ever played was the saxophone, and it was just through band at school, and I got to a point where I was like, oh, the saxophone's great, but I can't just solo and riff unless I'm like six years down the line. So I'm like, I just want to hit things. If I can hit things and make it sound kind of cool. Oh, look, drums, I can play the drums. And that's exactly what I did.
21 And the harder it gets his metal. If he can play metal, I got the drums. So that was where it landed. Nice for me as a vocalist. It was back in university. I was quite quiet, like all the way through school and college and stuff like that, so I was like, I started to come out of my shell. And then a couple of mates of mine were in bands and stuff, and I was like, that's pretty cool. Like, you know, look at him at the front of the stage, you know, shouting and balling, and you know. I was like, my timing's absolutely appalling. So I can't be a drummer, and I really want to be a drummer. So I was like, what can I do? Oh, I know, I'll just go a microphone and started shouting and just found out I was really good at it. Nice. Oh yeah, that's where mine come from.
02 So yeah, for me, it might sound a bit silly, but my cousin got a guitar and I was jealous of that, and I had to have a guitar myself, and I didn't think I's sick of it, but I have done. And that was twenty years ago, and here I am, and I'm yeah, really really proud of that. I'll bet you your cousin doesn't even play guitaring. Oh no, he's just played the Sophie Lancaster. Stay, oh okay, waterlines? Yeah no, yeah, he has. Oh alright, start to your cousin about his interview with the pipe man because right, oh my god, you'll see. Okay, okay, all right, you know how he is, so yeah, no, how to interview probably when Yeah, my interviews are normally like ten minutes. At festival, it ended up thirty minutes. Yeah, I'm laughing.
52 Yeah that's right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, but no that that was my answer. And I'm really proud of them, and I'm really proud of where we are today, and I'm really really proud of the fact that we are here together as a family. And yeah, yeah, you guys gotta go on and call it the Cousins Tour. Oh yeah, I'm gonna be really proud of you when he keeps me awake driving him home tomorrow. So yeah, nice. So what else he got going on after Bloodstock? So we have for Bolton towards the end of the month, and then Birmingham, who's got like a two day going on at the Birmingham to a festival which we're headlining. And after that we're just going to be recording a new single towards the end of the year.
33 There's well, so basically the Bolton gig, I believe is with making Blind I see, so that should be pretty good and in October. We are playing in leads with Raised by Owls on Halloween, which will be absolutely I mean, those lads are a good laugh at the best of times, so I can't wait to dress up with them and go on stage and to go absolutely mental. Oh that's great. So yeah, and we've got a couple of singles coming out, really like Getting Together, the last bit of our EP. That'll be the second Need, so we'll be forward to that. So that'll be coming out beginning of September, so only a couple of weeks after we've finished here. So yeah, very cool. And so how do people reach out to you on socials on the web to check out the new music, check out your tour dates, and most importantly by your merch because they can't listen to my show.
19 And listen your no worries, that's fine. So we've got a link tree, says link Tree Sorrier Band. The same with our Instagram, so sorry, Underscore Band. Facebook, everything's through there. I mean, we're on. TikTok, We're on We're literally like a plague. We're everywhere at the moment. I love it. So anywhere you go, there's always a link to our merch. And we've obviously brought some today as well, so it'd be good. All the mergers through Big Cartel. So anything through that link tree you will find it nice. What's your most embarrassing TikTok? I, Well. It'll probably be something that we filmed this weekend a Bloods talk to be fair.
00 There you go, Yeah, I love it. There's a few influencers out there that we're going to be doing a few little mini challenges with, so you should definitely come back to our socials to check that out because there'll be some really good stuff. However, this is Joey's the man for TikTok, so well. It's an Instagram one, but again it's something we did this weekend. So I played his leg as a guitar, just played it, bro. It was a guitar tutorial at Bloodstock when you're camping in a tent, how you play guitar. He just happened to use my leg. So it just seemed guitarish. So yeah, and he's his practice. That's beautiful. I love that. Now, since you're playing a festival in Burmham, are you going to do a cover of an Ozzie or Sabbath song?
44 I would love to, you know what, that was one of the biggest losses the mel industry. I've ever had. Honestly, it's like I don't often get it up on celebrities, but generally it was like genuinely it was Chester Bennington and now Assie. Yeah, Jen, like those two hit me really odd. So like, we would love to do a tribute to him. Maybe we could pull it out of the bag we hadn't plant of it. That might be a good idea too. Yeah, I gave you a good idea racking. A little bit of BARANOI just weaved in there. We could probably, you know what, we might be able to weave it into one of our songs. I'd be pretty kisick, wasn't it Half and half? That would be fucking cool. It wouldn't be. It wouldn't be the first time. So yeah, done some weird stuff? Yeah, should be good.
26 What's the weirdest cover you ever did? We did a cover of I Mean, this is going to be out there for a lot of metal people, but Man's not hot. It was the viral video from a grime artist. We've done Dua Leaper, we did Physical by Dua Leaper. We've done. We called it Surreyer Boy, but it was a cover of Soldier Boy. So just some really random stuff to be honest. At school, not a lot of metal. So I have a granddaughter that she's a total swiftie swift. I've always wanted to do. And so she was in the car with me and I played the I Prevail Blank Spaces. I love song and I definitely think better than the original.
18 So she didn't want to admit that she liked it. And then when we got back to the house, she was in her room and looked it up and was playing it, and I walked in and like, caught you, nail. I love them, They're amazing, and that they hate playing that song because well because they have to keep playing it forever. Now, yeah, yeah, it gets old, Like you're an artist. We gotta played the same ship over and over again. And that's what I think. He made a comment last time, like, Okay, I guess we got played the most requested song.
02 I'm sure we'll get to that point eventually. Right, it'll be your version at the Birmingham first. I mean, it's not a bad cover to live with exactly. It could be a lot worse. I mean, if it was going to do any cover, it's going to be on it. Well. I look forward to you guys killing it here at Bloodstock tomorrow. And thanks for being on the Adventures paint Man. Thank you very very much for having us. My pleasure, I mean an absolute pleasure. Just check this mine now that's where the bands are at. Well, you'll talk to your cousin and ask him to tell you about voting for me.
43 We will. I'll ask him on the car journey tomorrow. There you go. Whatever it is, however weird it is, I'll still vote for here. It makes no doubt. I don't care what you're doing. I'll vote for you. I love it well and I'll vote for you guys to win Bloodstock, forget metal to the masses. Thank you, blood. Machine Head has nothing on you. Oh yeah, yeah. Thanks. Michelle Kerr was my press officer for my entire fucking career here in the UK, my entire career. With machine. She recently passed away and it was a very very sad day. And I can tell you the reason that I'm going to tell this story because she was family.
32 She was Bloodstock family, she was heavy. Metal UK family. Most of the balls. That you know and love you probably heard of because of that woman right there. Slip knots, Slayer Machine, had Trivium killswitch, engage, hey reed, you name it. She helped lift everybody up man, She helped lift everybody up, and in so many ways, she helped make this entire music scene, this incredible, beautiful community that lives here at bloodstock Man. She helped make it. So, ladies and.
12 Gentlemen, please make some noise from Michelle Curve. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of plate Man on w for CUI Radio.
