04 Hey, you have done too yes, censure see wow crazy you Whycoume America, It's time for the Adventures of Pipe Man on W four c why dot com West pomp Beats is number one Internet radio station. Here's your host, the pipe Man. Your attend to be. Used to how you read going down down? No man, But since the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man w for cy Radio and I'm here with Surge Nice.
04 Yeah. I was noticing you guys out there, especially you. I'm like, oh, look, the Misfits are coming in so rock Lahoma. How badass is that that? It's crazy? This is our first year playing Rockahoma. Wow? What what was the road that led to oak and Rock Oklahoma. It's just basically just like, oh, there we go. Yeah. Basically it's just like hard work and dedication and just like you know, sacrifices and. A lot of long nights, man, a lot of long nights planning and preparing for stuff like this, and a lot of empty venues and yeah, paying your dues man.
46 Just you know, That's why I like to talk about this stuff, because you know how people are are like, oh, it must be so easy to be in a band and you're living the dream life. And part of it is you're living the dream life, and the other bar of it's you're living the shit life at the same time to get that dream life. And people don't realize how hard artists work. Like they think it's just you're playing around, But no, if you're just playing around, you'd be playing an instrument in your room and then going to some boring day job. Oh yeah, but with this, like you guys have to work day and night. Like I remember when I was learning guitar. My guitar teacher was like, you know at Randy Rhodes was my like idol.
33 You know, he practiced eight hours a day every single day. I'm like, oh, well, I guess I won't be playing guitar. So how did it happen that you got invited to play at ro Ockklahoma? We just audition, like wow, like like we audition and like they're like, I think there was like a form that went out in like every single band that were just like Entering, Entering, Entering. We all thought like, well, we've been wanting to do Rockaholma for like for two years now. It's like, well, let's try our luck and and we haven't heard anything back, and we're like, oh, well, you know, maybe we didn't get on. And four months later we get the call and it's just like oh man, like nice.
18 And then how does it feel to go out there today early in the day expecting nobody after people partying in the campground till like five am self included, and see that kind of crowd there to see you, like you probably didn't expect anybody to be there that early on the second day at a festival. It's so surreal, like right, it was. It's really heartwarming because you see like everyone there and it's like what, like we thought like, oh man, like they're just gonna be at the campgrounds, but they're like right there. Yeah, what they got up early, hung over and everything and still came to your. It became very real in that moment, and so it felt really good to experience. I'm pretty sure I can speak for all of us that it was kind of you know, gave us all chills, you know when you hear you know, them screaming for you, you.
08 Know, so yeah, really cool. And then like last night we were out in the campground partying at one of my neighbors as his bus with a deck built on it. It's called bus Boobs and Buttholes. I walk at the campgrounds and I saw that thing. Oh yeah, you gotta check it out because like they give away to Mardi Gras beads, if you show your butthole or your boobs, they don't care. Man, woman, non binary, doesn't matter. Okay, whoever you are, you can show it and get some beads. But yeah, last night, what was it about. I don't know, must have been about three am or something. We were just talking about showing nations and from evil and death and he goes to me, he goes, Okay, I'm gonna text you in the morning and we're gonna meet so we could go see Serge.
59 I'm like okay, and then I left him like he' can text me. But he was at your set. So there it is, like I have to tell you after the last two nights and you know him, the fact that he made it to your set, he must love you, guys, because the last two nights have been brutal and he's been the bad influence. Oh man, he's a. Good person, man, and he's he's been there for since day one in San Antonio and he's been a real ruder for us, and. Our first show in San Antonio we open for him.
39 Wow. Yeah, that's how we met him. You know, the more I keep hearing about this San Antonio scene, you know, everybody in the country likes you say, Austin's the capital live music and no offense. I don't think it is. But the more I meet people that are in bands from San Antonio, I think san Antonio should be is not only is there so much talent there, but you guys are all like so cool and so you know, pushing each other up, unlike the rest of the world. Oh definitely. Yeah, Antonio has got a great scene and we know a lot of really good people. Sean. You know, he's been amazing to us from day one. Like Dan said, you know we had Well, there's a lot of bands, bet Allison. You know, I could go on and on.
25 The Ravens Banquet is playing out to Yeah, they're playing tomorrow. We all help each other. Out because I think we all realize that that something's gonna happen, and it needs a scene, needs to happen. It can't be one or one or two bands, no doubt, you know, And I think we realize that in San Antonio. And Bad Allison played last year, killed it, even Death played the year before. So it's like the slow invasion of San Antonio and to rock Lahoma. We're fucking coming next year. I think we should just do all San Antonio bands for rock Lahoma. There's a lot of great musicians, a lot of great bands of San Antonio. You know, So are you all originally from San Antonio?
06 No? Where are you all originally from? We're all originally from like Uvaldi, Okay, we're forty five to an hour out of San Antonio. Okay. And when did you discover each one of you this San Antonio music scene or just music as your passion in general that led you to be here at Rocklahoma today? Basically, Like that was Fitzgerald's We've been like I think it was around like twenty twenty when we decided to be in an original band because originally we were a cover band. But a lot of people were asking like, hey, do you guys have originalists? And we're like no, So we decided to do this original route and we just did like we just like asked venues after venues to see if they can, like, you know, if we can play the venues we have, We've gotten no answer. And then Fitzgerald's came in and it was like, hey, like, do you guys want to open up for or Shaw Nations were even in death and it's like, oh yeah, nice us.
05 They gave us our first shot in this Antonio scene and from there we just kind of ran with it. And they've been super welcoming of us, and Sean's been welcome with us, and then from there it's just kind of blossom into this thing where you know, we've become a part of their scene and like little family. I love it. They've definitely adopted us. You know, the Santoni music scene. We go there as often as we can. We're from a small town, so there really is no place to play in small town, and we're in a region that's dominated by Latin and country music, and we had to go out, you know, we had to go out San Antonio, Houston, we went all over Texas, honestly, anywhere you know that they'd have us, that there was electricity, nice, you know, we'd go plug in and just pay our dues. You know, I told these guys it's all about sacrifice, paying your dues.
50 Early on you definitely gotta pay your dues. Like and people think that bands don't like you. Take a band like Metallica, who I knew them way back when when they were eating on the sandwiches went no Bread, all of them sleeping off floor with all the people from man Fraax, with all the people from Slay in one room, you know, and like like they say, it takes twenty years to become an overnight success, correct. You know, people don't realize if they, oh, you just woke up one day and you're a rock star. You know, I know that more than most. Ah, there you go. See, so one story good or bad over your musical career, what would it be the whole career. Yes, that's a.
36 Really good one. I mean, so I would say playing the whiskey a go go nice. I mean we opened up for Stone Breed. Yeah, shout out to Stonebread They gave us a shot there in La And that was a surreal moment, having you know, seen the documentary, seeing the pictures, you know, listening to all these bands from the eighties and seeing all these other bands. I was there in the eighties, you know, so it was surreal for. Us to step on that stage too, you know, and it was like wow, I mean I can't believe we're here. It just it's a real, you know, eye opening to see. And like you did go to the Rainbow after your set? Right? Absolutely, you can not do that, Okay. I look now, I was like I don't know going into Rainbow at like fifteen. I'm like I go there. Now, I'm like, how did I get in here in fifteen? Oh? That's right.
19 You would go see a gig like Motley Crewe at the Roxy and then walk up with them to the Rainbow, you know, shit like that. That was the eighties, and it was like I just think about like the fact that I was going to the Rainbow at fifteen, that's like kind of fucking wild. But then as a band, okay, like your first time playing a gig on the strip and then going up to the Rainbow, that's like that's bucketless shit. Oh yeah, dude, Yeah, I did not see that one coming honestly, right, It's like, okay. We're here, let's you know, yeah exactly. See. So tell everybody how they can reach out to you on your socials, on the web, get your merch, find out tour dates, music, all that good stuff.
