04 Hey, you have done too. Yes, that's true. I see Why were you young? Whake up America. It's time for the Adventures of pipe Man on W four C why dot Com wis pomp Beats is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man, Green Light, Black Night, No one knows looking for the answers that an empty road. I can't go nowhere, but seems I always do. Everybody seems to have a place to go. This is a white Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four C Why Radio, and I'm here with Era Henry star Crawler here at Punk Rock Boying. Wow. How does it feel to be here?
08 Besides hot as hell? No, it feels good. We've been having a lot of fun. I won seven hundred and seventy seven dollars last night on a slot machine. Nice, oh man, that makes the whole trip worthwoud right. I can't say the same. First night I was here, I lost. In my own life, I've only ever gone ten cents, so that's a big win for me. My dad always uses say there's two types of gamblers, losers and liars, because I always say I always make a bank deposit every time, and I'm in Vegas. I've deposit my money in a bank that you can't withdraw from, right right, you know they take they don't build these monster casinos because they're giving us money. But so kudos to you for beating them. Thank you. So tell the listeners who may not know you guys, bit about you and your music and you know why they should have been here at Punk Rock Bowling. I'm sorry, I can't really hear that. Well, it's okay, it's it's loud here. I was saying. Tell the listeners a little bit about your band and you know who have not heard the people that haven't heard of you before. How you would, as an artist describe your band, not genre, but describe it right and why they should have been here at Punk Rock Bowling. We're a very charming group of lads and we put on quite the performance, something that's
39 must see. I love it. Oh and what is that performance like? Like? How do you even perform in this hot weather? That's why I want though. It's definitely not easy, but you know, we just do what we can. In worst case scenario, we've pass out, but you know it'll be okay at the end of the day. That's punk rock. Yeah, that's punk rocked. Have some gatorade, it'll it'll be good, and then do the second part of set. That's all you know. Yeah, pump some gatorade, get back out and like yeah, fuck you son. Although we're playing at seven, so hopefully it won't be too bad.
21 It'll cool down a little bit. Yeah. I don't see any gatorade here though. All I see is Monster Tour water. We were talking about that. Yeah, I've never had Monster water. You didn't know about that. Okay, it gets even better. Save that can. That shit's worth money on eBay. What Yeah, people, because the only people that can get it is you guys. People can't usually can't get it out in the crowd. And everybody like colects these cans and or even a full tour water like they want the whole thing. Yeah, it's giving like ed hardy vibes. Yeah right, we're stealing the case from the green room. We aren't drinking anything. We're sewing it on eBay. Yeah, you could have the big win win in the casino and the monster win. There you go. But seriously, I've seen on eBay one can four hundred and fifty bucks. That's insane. Right, I lost sixty bucks, so I think I need to You can have the cans, a couple of cans. You should go to Casino Credit and use that for collateral to get a marker. Wow, say dude, this thing's worth like four hundred bucks. So tell us a little bit about what you got going on this year even more and besides punk rock bowling, what people have to look for tour dates merch music. Well,
53 we're kind of on a little run right now of like mainly West Coast stuff. So our next show is in Bakersfield, and then we do like Joshua Tree and Orange County, Orange County, San Francisco, Sacramento. Nice. We're going off this coast with Nice, who's playing on that stage right over there right now, So that'll be fun. We're writing, we're recording. We're doing a tour later this year hitting the whole US with a band called Boris, which would be nice exciting. Yeah, just a bunch of stuff, very cool. And where in Sacramento are you playing at Harlow's Nice, Harlow's after Shock. I always do that festival every year. We need to get you on Aftershock. That would be cool. So one story, good or bad, crazy or wild whatever in your musical journey. What would it be, like the most memorable thing you could think of? Right? That is like always the hardest question because you have a lot of weird shit happened on tour. I'm like trying to go through the log. Yeah, I like to hear weird stories. I think there's a lot of pressure. I know, right, That's why there's been so I'm trying to so many crazy moments. But whenever you get asked, right, they're all like swirling in
26 your head. Okay, Like yeah, like I need like a topic because honestly, I feel like there's a good mapic. Okay, I'll tell you. I'll tell you I have a lot of them, but i'll tell you one. I'm a legend in l a medal, but not for playing, not for singing, but because I ended a Savage Grace show. It was their last song of the show, and I climbed up on stage and I climbed up the Marshall stack and security was changed see me and I dove off and I was like twenty feet up in the air, full swan and watched the crowd move spread out like they were making a pit except I didn't want to pitch yeah, because I hit teeth first into the linoleum floor. No, that was like nineteen eighty five something like that, and literally, okay, So what's funny about it is the club. It was the country club and Recida. They're not there anymore. Fuckers. They didn't come to help me. They tried to. They threw me out for jumping off the stage.
44 My friend, who's in several punk bands nowadays, we were teenagers and he actually picked up my teeth put it on ice. And our other friend she comes after the show coming out of a pit off really like and sweaty and needs a drink and grabs it. It goes to drink it and he's like, no, those are Dean's teeth. So there you go. What's even wilder about that story is the band disbanded shortly after that, and I was good friends with him. He's a roadie for him and all this shit, so I know him well. I never like talk to him again after that. About six months ago, a publicist sends me thinking, hey, can you interview this person. It's the lead singer of that band. They were putting their first album out in like thirty years. So you know, I have kids. When you tell your kids' stories like your teenage years, and I'm from like the eighties sunset strip, so I have a lot of stories and they don't believe fucking a word I'm saying, because yeah, right, dad, Well I'm expecting to see some teeth out there today, right, so you have some proof to show them there it is, well, they got they got proof because I interviewed the lead singer and he's like, man, I wondered, whatever happened to you? And I felt so bad.
13 It was like the worst thing that ever happened, Like somebody died at one of our shows, and you are like this legend in LA of one of the most tragic things that ever happened to La Metal. So I played that for my kids to proof I wasn't full of shit. I don't know. I mean, I get hurt a lot on stage, but I don't know if I luckily have not knocked out my teeth yet. That's a big fear of mine. Yeah, healthy, I have dreams that my teeth fall out. I will never stage dive again, and I won't CrowdSurf. I don't trust anybody. I still go in the pit because I'm in control. I like kind of suss out if the crowd, like if I can tell if they'll catch me, you know what I mean. Yep. So it just depends. You get a little smarter as you get older. I was an idiot. I was like, yeah, I didn't even think about what could have happened. Which did happen. I feel like the worst I got heard on stage might have been I don't know. I feel like we've told this story before, but we played south By in twenty eighteen, and we were doing like a bunch of shows like every day, Like it was like insane, like I don't know, so by the end of it, super tired and hungover and all this shit. And we played at like noon or like one at Waterloo Records, like outside hot like this, you know what I mean, but humid and shit, and I was just so out of it. Like usually adrenaline kicks in on stage and it doesn't matter how I'm
43 feeling, it like goes away. But I was like so like wow, oh sluggish and beat and I like the stage was a little slippery and I slipped and just like knocked my head and I had this like giant like goose egg, oh by my eye, and I it being fine, but I did go to the hospital for a second. And then I think we played a show that night. Oh that's good, because you know, I don't think people listening realize how big it is that you actually you're a droned and kick in because like even for me, when I go on the mic or when I go on the stage, I'm also my evacial speaker. It's like, right before I go on stage, it's like all this nervousness and shit in my head. And then like, holy fuck, I don't even know what to say when I got up there. And then I get up and the mic turns on. There's like a switch, yeah, and I'm just in this zone and it's like it never happened. And then when you get off stage, like what you're experiencing, like if I get hurt or if I have a headache or I'm sick, I don't even know because I can't be because and then when I get off it's like you give yourself permission to feel it. Right, Yeah, that's true. It depends on how bad the thing is. I guess I know it's really bad if I don't have that adrenaline on stage. I'm like, oh God, this is gonna be Yeah, you need that adrene good. Yeah, you need it right, you know, because to me, nothing's better than live music, and nothing's
15 worse than a band that gets up there and just goes through the motions. You know, it's supposed to be a live show. They're supposed to be like wild craziness. Fuck ups. There's a story nineteen eighty three US festival, Van Hallen's headlining. They're playing, ain't talking about love, David Lee Ross not singing, They're looking at him way he's not singing and goes into mike. Three hundred thousand people, I fucking forgot the words. Wow. The whole place roared like it was the best thing that ever happened, except one guy who heckled them, and in David Lee ro Feshi goes, I'm gonna fuck your girlfriend. Oh oh I've seen that. Yeah, I feel like I've heard him. I feel like he used to say that on stage.
01 He probably did all the time. Yeah, I'm from Pasadena, so nice. We still got David Lee Roth stroll in the streets. It's pretty cool. So another band friend of mine and friends of mine there from Pasadena. They always talk about how they never lived left their zip code to me, like I lived in a Gora and they're like, when we went out to Agora, it was like, you know, we went to another country. It's the band Armored Saint, you know them. Oh yeah, yeah, so they're Passadingen. They're Pasadena too, So there you go Hammer Satan Oh yeah, yeah, yeah I do. Yeah. So I was their original merch dude. They didn't have shirts and pins and I thought you met Van Halen and I was like, no, no, no, I do I wish So what uh what band here at Punk Rock Bowling? Do you want to go see? I want to see the chats and so yeah, yeah, you want to come with me and do the interview with Devo later.
11 I don't know, it might be awkward, I know, right, I don't know what you would do. I think it's awkward for me. Like in the eighties, you know, we were all it was all gatekeeping bullshit. Well I'm gonna tell them in the interview. Is you know I wasn't allowed to like you in the eighties because that wasn't allowed. But you were cool. You know. It's like that's what's cool about music today, you know, like multiple genre Yeah you guys today, Thank god for your generation of music today, because we could all be in the same place. You know, bands like the sub Humans. I loved them, and I wasn't allowed to go to their shows because I was a long hair you know, you got your ass beat if you went to a punk show as a loon. I feel like if we were a band back in the day and made the same type of music, we wouldn't be playing this or I don't know, I feel like it's weird, you know. I feel like, also, all bands are bands of music really right, exactly, Like it's certain eras it wasn't cool to like other music. Yeah it's stupid another like sub genre of punk or rock, like even if it's still the same oh yeah, I mean like Deep it's still a punk band. But but they were to us, they were like yeah exactly, yeah, you know, And and now it's kind of all falls into the same world, which I love it. I love coming to a punk festival like this and just seeing people from any walk of life like you just you do you, dude, there's no outcast here. You just do you, and you'd be whoever you're
45 gonna be, and we can all be one family. Well, we're all outcasts together, exactly. That's the point. Maybe we're all normal and then the rest of the world is outcast. That's right. I love that, you know. And that's why I thought it was stupid back in the day, because the punks in the metal Heads were both the outcasting or ass beat by the jocks. Uh why didn't we band together instead we fought each other? It was stupid. You watched the Decline movies. I was part of those movies. Yeah, you know, it's like watching home movies. The first one is a masterpiece. The second one, though, is legendary. There you go. It's insane, it is. I like watching all those because I'm like, yeah, I remember being there with the dude from Wasp.
33 Yeah yeah, it's like in his leather that's like deteriorating and then he's just like drunk and his mom is sitting there watching him, like almost on the verge of teers. It's like the most insane shit. Oh yeah, it's insane. And there was so like they say, if you remember the Sunset strip in the eighties, you weren't there, right, Yeah, you know, and you mentioned wasps like Chris Holmes from Wasp and Mick Mahrs from Crew and I used to hang out at the mall. It's mall. Yeah, so it's like it's pretty interesting. No. I was talking to another band earlier about in twenty twenty four, punk bands still have to talk about the same bullshit we did in the eighties. Why is it not better?
17 I don't know. Why are we still dealing with all this bullshit racism and homophobia and and you know all the bullshit that goes on. Yeah, I have the world sucks. I think it will always be crazy. That's why we always need punk rocks. World sucks and it's gonna keep sucking more. But you know, that's how it goes. It's like a pendulum. Yeah, you know, but hey, gives you something to write about, right, if you're gonna look at the positive side. There it is. Tell everybody how they can reach out to you guys on socials on the web.
59 Check out your music, buy your matt all the socials, starcrawler music dot com at star Crawler, on Instagram and Facebook. Our email, Yeah, may people can know our email if you want to get a hold of us. It's the coolest email name ever we got. We got it when we were fifteen. I love it. Crawlers sixty nine at gmail dot com. Oh that's a beautiful thing. Hey for professional emails. You know what it would be great for? Ready, you need to make a shirt that just says that. That would be pretty cool, right, Yeah, that's the new merch for the band. We're going to make a MySpace soon so you can catch us on We're bringing MySpace back. It's so funny because and maybe it was you, because I got I'm all swirling in my head one of the bands I'm interviewing. When you go to their shit, it gives a mice face link, but it actually takes to their Facebook page, Like but they're just messing with you that it's their my Space. It's pretty smart, right, I think we should bring my space fake only fans link, Like they dropped their album and then it made it look like the link was only fans, but it was just to click and pre save the album like it was like on Instagram. You can like change the words of the like R.
25 That's brilliant. I love that. Now you're gonna laugh. You're gonna laugh. I did some I did it first. I have a pipe Man radio only fans for my podcast. Yeah seriously, I mean, I'm not doing ship on there. I'm not doing shit, but it's it's no, it's gonna be funny ship from festivals and from being on tour and and then my co hosts they're they're putting up funny kind of spicy stuff. But you know, like, hey, why not? And I do it. I have subscribers, so like fuck it. I have this fake thing it's called the Group, the pipe Man Group On, and basically it's like the New Bed and Breakfast. You come and you serve the pipe Man all night long at the pipe Cave, and then you serve me breakfast and then you leave.
18 And I actually have people call into my radio show to buy this fake group on. Damn people. You know, people want to buy everything. I know, right, you just gotta supply there, you go, Well, they need to buy your merch because bands don't survive without merch, and they can't listen to my show unless they buy your merch. Is there anything else you want to let the listeners know that we haven't covered already. I think we're good. Cool. Now listen to music have a good time there. You go, well, I'm really excited about you being here at punk rock Bowling and thanks for being on the Betre Pipe. Where does the bowling come to play that I want to know. So there's a tournament and the bus picks you up here at like the Golden Mugging. No, there's there's boweling tournaments. There used to be a poker tournament. I don't know if they still do it. And there's also the punk rock Poker would Yeah, well this is even better. The swim, the punk rock swim. You know about that at the swim party. No, but we did Psycho Swim, which is like a metal I was there, Yeah, Psycho Las Vegas.
33 That Psycho swim in the pool stage. I thought I was gonna die on degrees. Well yeah, Trapped played like what I think one of their final shows there, and they were up on the stage, that big concrete thing and we were down in the water washing. It was sick as hell, but they that's what they have here. I have video of the circle pit yesterday in the pool. That's pretty cool, right, with a bunch of punk rockers with colored hair in the pool, Like yeah, when we played, there's this dude that was in full jean's like denim vest, like it's just like normal, like you know, metal guy outfit, just in the pool, like headbanging, like going crazy. It was pretty dope.
18 There you go. Love it well, I support too, and I support you guys. And thanks for being on the Adventures pipe Man. Yeah yeah, thank you for listening to the Adventures of plate Man on w for CUI Radio.
