04 Hey, you have done to censure. See wow, crare you young? Whycome America, It's time for the Adventures of Pipe Man on W four c Y dot com. West pomp Beats is number one Internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man make up. I felt down around, I see the ground I hear. So this is pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio, and I'm here with Happy Hogan, Connor Sullivan, Connor Cummings of Snooper. See. I like when bands do it better, because you did it cool right there. I would have just said Snooper. So there you go. First question, right off the bat, I was at your set here at Punk Rock Bowling. Who's the green member the band? Don't mean who specifically tell us about that green member?

30 It's Blair Trammel, the singer. A she built the bug and she is the bug through and through nice extension of herself. Embodiment of Blair tramwill for sure. So what makes it embodiment of her? Well, she made it, so that's one thing. Her life's blood has been put into it. Yeah, it's always gotta smile on his face. So that's how you really know. That's the most blair thing about it. Now. See I saw it. I saw the green Bug coming out at the end, and I thought it was gonna go crowdsurfing maybe if the stupid ass barricade wasn't there. I think someone were getting paled with the pole, and you guys would do a lot cool like lit you know, live stage shit. That's why I like about it, because anybody funny. This morning, I was doing an interview with Dick from the sub Humans, and that was something he said, is like, you know, anybody can get up there, you know, and just play the music as if you're listening to the album. But to put on a real show is why people come to pop rock, bowling or anywhere else. Definitely. So you guys put a lot of creativity into your live shows, right, What else do you do besides that? Because I read that you did you do other stuff live? You know, you do a lot of creative things. Tell the audience a little bit about what how you get created your live shows. Well, every member of the band has

02 played in mini bands for a pretty long time. A couple of us come from like hardcore dB backgrounds, indie backgrounds, garage rock backgrounds from all over except for Blair. So a lot of us have seen some of our favorite bands and they play good, but they're kind of boring live. And then we've also seen some of the best hardcore bands that go crazy, and we enjoyed all of that. But then Blair was really nervous about being a singer, so she wanted to build a bunch of props to take the heat off her. And then it started by just being like, I'm gonna build a wait and that was for the first show. And then she had bought me a tracksuit and I wore it because it was cold out, and then we were like, maybe we should a couple of us should get tracksuits. And then it was like, well, I'm gonna build a giant phone. Okay, it sounds cool. Oh we should build a puppet. And it just snowball from there, and now it's just a combination of everything we love.

50 Really, it's maximalist rock Blair. Blair pushes everything to the absolute maximum, which is why the bug is there in all the video game and like the blight and all that thing, all those things are there. I love it. I love it. And also I usually hate talking about genres, but some might some might came up with a genre for your band. Okay, do you know about it? Let me get scram scramble rocks scrambled. Yeah, I saw egg punk, So yeah, all the where did that come from? And that's been a thing for a while now. I think it was a term that started for basically low five budget rock four track recordings played really fast with no pedals directed into the four track, and it was cool.

39 It definitely isn't our favorite term, but I've read a lot about like when post punk and shoegaze and all those terms came out, all the bands hated it. So if it's easy for a bunch of people to categorize it by calling it egg punk, then it is what it is. Well, Connor prefers hard boiled. I like that, And you know, well, on your point, the dudes from Corn hated being called new metal, sure, like like they didn't even know what the fuck that meant, you know, But now so I was they were doing a press conference at LFST couple of years ago and they brought somebody brought it up and they're like, well, now we just like embrace it because nothing we could do about it.

20 Yeah, totally, I mean That's kind of the thing with us. I feel like we're just kind of like whatever you want to say, we'll just take fuck it with with age, it seems fine, like post punk to me is a cool term. But I've read like Gang of Four and Joy Division all those mands hated being called post punk. Yeah, but then now like after a couple of years, that's how you identify them, and if it helps people categorize it, then it is what it is. Well, it's no different. We have Davo coming on tonight and basically they were considered new wave when I was a teenager, but they considered themselves punk. So there you go. I like it. I like the term new wave, but it confuses a lot of people who've never heard us. They're like, what do you sound like? And we're like kind of like fast new wave man, and they listen to it and they don't think it sounds anything I do. Well, you know what's funny is as an old school punk we didn't like new wave because that wasn't punk, Like like the gatekeepers back then, anything that wasn't like hardcore like punk that you didn't know how to play your instruments was not punk. Yeah, well, now it's changed too, where it's like, I know this probably sounds so fucking stupid, but like the whole punk thing was always like you know, outside or whatever, but now it's like, Okay, now it feels like everybody's like egg I guess is like anybody can do this shit. You just have to have a four track and a guitar and like what's therin quote about new wave jock punk,

50 new wave asshole? Yeah yeah, but it's just for everybody. So I think there just shouldn't be any freaking labels ever. Every artist should just play what they want to play. That's why, like nowadays, a lot of and probably you're the same, a lot of bands have multiple influences within the band, whereas back in the day it was like we all listen to this and that's what we want to sound like, and that just makes it boring and it's already been done and then everybody's doing it. What makes you unique and stand out is having the different influences, And it's better than doing the Chromac's SSD style where you do your metal record a couple of years in and everyone agrees on it. It's terrible. Well I'll go step further, when discharge turn hair metal? How do you go for discharge? And you admitted that you heard it here first folks on the pipe man. I couldn't even listen to that ship man. I was like, what is this? You know? But there's another thing. We're here at punk rock bowling and there are no outsiders. Were all included one big family. You know. Back in the day, I was a long hair. I couldn't go to punk shows. You got your ass beat, you're a punk and you well metal

20 show, you got your ass beat. And it was stupid. And we've all seen the Henry Rollins interview. There you go, and then you know Dr dr I was you know, they started growing their hair out and everybody was saying shit about them, and they start, hello, Hey, I'm camp I played drums a stuper nice Nice of you to show up. Nice of you show up. Can you give us a recap at the beginning of interview? Please? Of the day? What of the beginning of the interview? Can you tell us what happened? Okay, yeah, I feel like there was a little bit of like stumbling around introductions, but then everyone kind of like really warmed up really quickly and it was really like feeling really friendly, and then we kind of got into some background. We mostly talked about Discharge and DBAD and their new metal record, and we talked about scrambled punk.

11 We talked about uh uh you know, punk over easy. We talked about poached punk, which is different from post punk. But anyway, we've had a great time. That was beautiful. You need to be in radio too sweet. Yeah, I'm in like that was like you just walked up and made the exact recap of the whole interview perfect. I love it. I'm available find me on LinkedIn. What's your opinion on the what? What's your opinion on the Discharge album, the hair metal album? I I I love the early stuff. Thank you. I like you right now. So what's the wildless or best or worst or craziest story in this whole musical journey for you guys? Robbed? Uh yeah? Ben? Well Ben almost robed Ben, Rob. This is perfect for Cam. The craziest story, uh that Snooper has ever had was about an in and out in Oakland, California at three pm in the daytime. Well yeah, which is now closed.

22 Here's what happened. Uh yeah, I closed it down. We were rolling up. We were going in between the Bay Area. We're going from Oakland to UH to Los Angeles to play shows, and we wanted to stop. Everyone was very hungry. It was like the afternoon. We checked out an in and Out on you know whatever review Google reviews. It had bad reviews, but we were like, I don't know like it. It's didn't look into it. I didn't look into it that hard. So we're just like, okay, we're just gonna go there. It'll be it's on the way whatever. So we go there. I'm bed, so I don't you know, there's nothing in and out for me. They don't have like the Beyond or I don't know, but there was a Chipotle and the strip Ball across the way, so I was like, just walk over there. So we all get out of the van. Everybody goes in. UH. As we're going in, there's like a broken tempered glass on the ground, uh everywhere, and signs that are just like be cognizant of your you know, whatever's in your vehicle and whatever. And we're like, okay, well, I mean it's also like broad daylight. There's security guards whatever. We're probably find we get out of the van uh. Security guards come up to us and be like, hey, do you have any valuables in there? Like there have been like breakings even in broad daylight. And we're like, oh shit, okay, well this is like a little bit different from back home, but it's fine. So we're like, yeah, no, not really.

48 Uh So then we go inside, but everyone goes inside, and then I start walking over to Chipotle. As I'm walking over, two guys in ski masks pull up and they go, what's up, Harry pot Yeah to me, and I was like, ah, that's pretty funny. And I look up and that's when I see they're in sche masks and a blackout beamer and I was like, oh no. So then I was just like okay, so I go back into the restaurant or into in and out. I was like, I got the keys. I go back to the vand because I was like, this is like not cool now, like I think it's actually gonna get kind of crazy. And then they pull up again and they try to like back like t bonus into the parking spot, and I was able to like somehow maneuver out like people are like yelling in the parking lot.

31 It was like really crazy. Actually, it was a really crazy scene. And uh, the rest of the band is watching with our milkshakes, watching him fight his guys and the blackout beamer. Yeah. And then and then I somehow, you know, managed to make it I guess, like crediting GTA Grand theft auto for like you know, I don't know whatever. That's like the truth. It is good, it is it's good training for that kind of shit. So anyway we're able to make it out. I loop back like ten minutes later, pick everybody up, like and then we just you know, be lying out of there, go to Saint Luisa Bespo. So that was a The other fucked up part was while he was escaping the two people guy out of the beamer and then when he took off, they got frustrated and we're all standing there with our food and there's a family next to us with like their like eight year old daughter, and instead of attacking the van, they just bash out the back of this car. And they'd just gotten off the airplane and this like eight year old girls watching like her luggage is stolen, thrown in the back of this beamer and they just fucking take off. Wow. So yeah, that was pretty insane. The craziest story we've ever had. I think I gotta tell you that could rank up as one of the craziest stories in punk history. Maybe, all right, I don't know. I'm glad we made it out. You know, it could be the next Harry Potter movie. Yeah. So I have people connect to you guys on socials on the web. Buy your merch. Got cool ass merch here by the way, and uh and they can't listen to my show anymore if they don't buy your merch, because it's only way you survive and get out of those in and out situations. True, yeah, no,

05 any any help, you know, we always appreciate you know it. He's a board so that's awesome. So tell him where they can connect to you guys. Yeah. Snooper seven dot bencamp dot com. What's the website for like merch more specifically seven everything? You'll find it all. Yeah, just google Snooper seven and you're bound to find us. So we'll be around. Nice well man, thanks for being at Punk Rock Bowling killing it and thank you man. I didn't hear what he said, thank you pipe man. That was He's the serious one, right, He's the serious guy. You have you have to you have to have one. And why is it always the drummers people think are the quiet ones, and they're never the quiet one. It was never a mic. Love it.
