04 Hey, you love them too. This is sus Sure. I'm come from for see why you wake up America. It's time for the Adventure. So pipe Man on W for cy dot Com. West Palm Beach is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man. This is pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W forc By Radio and I'm here with this is down from Skystan Block. I'm Zanda from plus skyst Black. Tusmaster you said Tusmaster. Then you're not in Tessmaster, right, we did it once, but you're not in Tusbaster. That was That was a good joke way from skyst Black. Well. What was even funnier is in the game you couldn't even remember your name. I had to think I really did.
19 Yeah, kind of weekend right, it feels like the Sunday of a festival. I feel like the Sunday of the festival. It is. Yeah, I can tell that I've been here for it is. I feel like I have been here for me too. As somebody. It's done almost forty interviews and as you can tell, I have no freaking voice and feels like somebody's stab in my throat. It's so raw from talking so much. I'm enjoying your a Dulcet sonsre you go. I think it's all right, say okay, good, I sound better to you than I do to myself. I hear myself, I'm like, who the fuck is that? Oh man? Bloodstock though, fuck? How do you get here? How do we get here? It's a really boring story. I sent an email. I sent an email and and in the email it had an unreleased demo of the Skuys are Falling Down And they got picked up. They heard and they were like, this is sick. And I was like, I'm really glad you think so, because we also think so. We also think that this is sick.
22 So yeah. So so for for them to pick it up and and like, I mean, to be honest, so for taking the time to to click on the link and listen to it is is enough. And then to actually be able to reach out and offer offer a slot on the Jager stage, it's it's incredible. Yeah. And then fucking stage. It's a pretty awesome stage. I'll tell you what. I think it's the most fun stage to play on. Every everyone that we've seen so far on there has been sick, absolutely killed it the sound has been really good. It's it's been pulling a crowd. Like, let's face it, it's it's not the biggest stage in the world. It's not the biggest crowd air in the world, but it's still pulling. It's pulling people in and that's great. It almost feels a little because of like the size of it. It feels like like a niche. It's an exclusive like if you're there experiencing that band, like the bands that are playing on some of these stages, like some of these I'm going to be playing on that Jega stage every single year at this festival. They're gonna be playing on Summer like going up to new Blood Sofa, going up to Ronnie Stage and things like that. So it's it's you're seeing a piece of history. A love it. Yeah, totally. It's kind of like that. You know, when you're playing at your bros basement with all your friends and you're getting them big fucking trouble because it's too noisy, The cops come, parents get called, and that's the Yager stage.
47 Yeah. I mean, I think that we're too much of like good boys to do something like that in our parents basement to be fair, Jamie is, no, I wouldn't go into I wouldn't go into his parents basement, like I just I just wouldn't. I wouldn't do that, and I'd be scared. Why would you be scared? Why would I be scared? I just you don't know what's going to be in there. You just don't know what's going to be in there. It's always, it's always, it's always a mystery that that that basement in Manchester was was a mythical place. We used to have practices down there and it's yeah, when when the lights go off or oh no, not for me. It's a perfect place to record a metal album, you think, so, you think, sir, Yeah, maybe not to be fair, we did record quite a lot of the vocals for our first album in my university bedroom, which I'm sure you actually knew, Danny. Some of those vocals for songs like fairy Tale and stuff were actually we duct taped my duvet to the walls and got like borrowed a really fancy microphone from the university and just like decked up my room and it's just like really like dingy recording studio and yeah, it was good fun.
02 Where was I you weren't there, you were invited. I didn't need it a bit. To be fair, I played bass like you know, so you're you're guying Like Jason Newstead, you know where where where they take the bass off the album? That's exactly what he's like. That's exactly what it's is. He doesn't either know how respond to that bass, what bass coming on? Just like get the guitars and just like put an octave pedal on it or something like that. We don't need to know bass. How about the bands know that have no guitar and just bass. I like that, right, I like that. I don't like guitarists. Yeah, oh no, no, I don't like the guitarists do with That's what I means, right, I think guitarists our definitely divers I mean it's it's what makes a guitarist even more of a diva is if it's the guitarist is also the front man. Oh yeah, oh my god, insufferable. I think they kind of have to be though, Like there's there's something about that kind of bad boy attitude of just slide. Yeah, look at me, I know what I know. I'm good. Yeah. I think it's adds to the stage before. So are you talking about Dave Mustain right now? No, I'm talking about I want to god him. I knew that, but you know, we love Jimmy and we love Jammy and Dave mustin can just like he can do no wrong. Charlotte like he's great. You know rid Jointly when he started Megadeth, he was talking to a friend of mine who's in another
36 band, another Big four band. Oh, and he was like, I don't know what to do. I don't know how fucking sing. Hey, don't just talk. So that's Dave Mustain singing. That's where that came from. He just talks basically. And now you don't listen to his music here Ago, Oh, I hear it now like that. That's cool, see Megan a few times. I'm really excited sing tonight. Oh yeah, yeah, it's gonna be badass. I hope this weather sticks. And because it's more, I'm like, fucking bearing not be raining during Megadeth and I saw it in the weather and I'd supposed to. Yeah, this morning was a little bit of surprised. I think it was yesterday whilst we're waiting from a sugar that we were just kind of like if they starts coming down now, like I don't want to move and I'm just going to get wet and I'm going to put up with it because it's my sugar. Well, one of the best shows I ever saw was Ministry in the rain because what other band could could you see during the rain? It's so appropriate, but Ministry.
39 See, my only thought was when Slipno played Download and it got to the bit in Psychosocial and he said, and the rain will kill us all and then it just suddenly started passing it down and it was it was so poetic. It was beautiful. Oh I was. I was in awe of that. Maybe I was drunk, but it was. If you weren't, it still would you know? Sometimes I think, yeah, that was that was something in saying that, that was really cool. So tell our listeners about your music, not from a genre bullshit label standpoint, but you as artist, how you express that? Xander place Keza, I am a keitar player and you don't get many of those nowadays. I tell you that I love that. Actually, it is the stupidest, most ridiculous thing I've ever bought in my entire life, and I love it so much. It's it's like, my baby, I'm trying to think of whatever band I know of that has that. I can't remember, but when you making a list, at one point there's a big band that uses that, and I can't remember who it is. I know Herbie Hancock and the Jazz World uses one, but I got it from There's a Japanese palmetal band called Galmarius. They've got a keys player who uses the same keitar that I do. Uh, I'm man, he's just alleged he's a weapon. He's something else. He's so so good and yeah that that I saw saw him solo on that thing. I was like, now, what is it that? Basically maybe you come up with this idea because that main people get up in the morning. You're like,
11 I'm gonna play keytar. Well when sort of like Xander first joined the band, he had he had the key tar, but then he also had like a full piano in front of him, like he had a full keyboard set up. And the thing is with Xander is Xander's got some moves, right, and that was moves that we didn't want to content to behind the keyboard. I absolutely not. And it was like, do you know what we need to sack off the keyboard, get you mobile, right so you can be on a wireless kit and have a little bit everyone around so you can have a little bogie or like whatever you want. All right, that's that's what we needed and and that's what that's what did it. It was like, well, that's this. You're not a piano play, You're not a keyboard play. It's just keytaro. So for the big rule and that you've got in the bind, we don't need it. Any baker play piano.
56 Come on, and you know, going back to the bass thing. So the way I look at it is you wouldn't have had one of the best plate bass players ever unless he was forced to play bass. Do you know who I'm talking about? Who? I shame on you being from the UK. Now there's your hint. This might this might just be like a niche store that I've not heard of who was forced to play a bass who wassibles? Yeah, you have to know this band because there's everybody in the world knows this band and this bassist who was originating guitarist, but there were two main guitarists in the bands. They're like, you gotta play bass, and he's now considered one of the best basses ever in history. I'm thinking of Spondel Bella think more common, more common than Spundela. Yeah, that's gold. It's gonna bug you out is Please tell me, please put me out on miser. I just gave you a hint. I missed the hint.
56 You missed the hint. I think the Beatles, Paul McConnell, mcca. I'm glad you got that right after I said the Beatles. So yeah, yeah, yeah it was. That's why if you now, because now I listened to it differently because I never thought of him as like this great bassis, but then once I heard that, I listen, I'm like, holy shit, he's playing a bass like a guitar. See that's about though, because I I don't when when you think Paul McCartney think like what he does, I go straight for vocalist, songwriter things like that. He's I feel like the bass playing kind of doesn't get the recognition that it actually no, it actually needs and what deserves. Yeah, okay, that's interesting because you had John and you had George. They didn't need somebody else playing guitar.
52 I don't know if they Drew Straws or if he was just the worst guitar player out of three. I mean, was it? Was it the Beatles? The It was asking an interview whether Ringo was the best room in the world, and Lennon's response was, he's not the best drum in the Beatles. For those of you I heard that dead air, I'm laugh at my fucking ass off over that. I'm sure that's lit. I'm sure it is. Yeah, Oh my god. Well, you know what's funny about that? It was probably like this, you know, a pun on Pete Best. Pete Best the original drummer. Okay, so Pete Best was the best drummer. Okay, yeah, now now you probably get what John was saying. No, I think he was just absolutely shitting on Ringo. Yeah, probably now, But what I will say, I don't know if you saw the documentary not Get Back, but the other one where you know, Paul McCartney is listening to Beatles music with Rick Rubin and they're going over ship and it was so cool because this is where the sign in the studio listening to so Paul goes. You know, back then I just was playing with you know, this bloke John on stage and now I'm like, holy shit,
22 I was playing with John Lennon, like, and for Paul McCartney to say that, it's like wow, like you you're fanboying out on John Lennon. I like how when Paul McCartney headlined Gloucester, he was reportedly one of the cheapest fees for headline acts, right, and he did a warm up shure right in a pub just outside Gloucester, right in a pub. Wow, And that was Paul McCartney's warmup Shurelaster. Just ridiculous. I just, I just I really appreciate how humbly is and what you said in terms of being like, oh my god, I was an abundant Paul McCartney and stuff like that. Just just love that, love the attitude. Yeah, no doubt. And to your point about the warm up shows. So one day, this scirls dating there's this place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida called I had to specify that since we are in the UK not in the States, and it's this place. It was a really small pub that you know, would have bands play. They used to have karaoke. They called it scaryoke because it was all metal and punk and my girlfriend she's like calls me. She's like, there's this really good shows outside. There's this really good iron made and cover band playing now. Nico McBrain lives in Boca Raton, Florida.
50 He has a restaurant there. Okay, she walked inside, called me back. She's like, it's fucking iron Mading. They were warming up for their tour and they played this little fucking shit in the whole bar and in Florida. I love. That's really cool. That's really cool. I've always been wing to gravitate to like an album release show and things like that. It's like dring me the Horizon did the same paternal album release the cockpit in leads and things like that, which was holding one hundred two hundred people and wow, and then you look at where they are now and it's it's ridiculous. I mean, he's even more ridiculous the I I teach the school of Oli Sykes winsor really, which is which is even more ridiculous. Yeah, and I love Ali, one of the best lyricists ever in my opinion. Yeah, it's and it's because he does it all from him, from his Harry.
45 That's right for anybody else like can you feel my Heart? He wrote in Rehab, and it's like there's one lyric in there that I think is the most brilliant lyric of any song ever, and that's I Can't Drown my Demons. They know how to swear, and I'm like, fucking ingenious. Was I was on barrier for them at Download this year, and when it got to that, it was just everyone in absolute unity going for it. And it was it was because especially the amount of not stick that they'd got, but it was the first time headlining Download. There was questions on the how they read it to headline Download and things like that, and then in that moment it was like, yeah, oh my god, ridiculous. You know what explaining about that is they do headline festivals in the States, and that's how I got to know them. Like one of the shows I was covering and they played and I'm like, oh my god, they're fucking awesome live, especially so when I was at Download, like, I didn't schedule interviews. I'm going I wanted to see them in their home country. They were fucking insane. I was in there pit. But then a couple of weeks ago, I covered a show they did in Florida, and I was like, bring me back to download because they didn't do their whole show because they fall out Boy went was the headliner, and like to bring all that ship over to the States. It's expensive. So I'm so happy I got to see him in their home country because to your point, they definitely deserved
18 the headline. Oh my god, they earned it when they did that show. I think I'm old school Metallica fan. Yeah, I think they blew Metallica away. I think that Metallic had turned up and played the tunes and nail the tunes. I think Bring Me turned up into the steared show. That's that's that's what happened with with Bring Me. They turned up and with all of the theming and the build up to that of the Church of Next Gen and all that kind of thing that they were doing, having like a scavenger hunt download as well, which is just ridiculous. I mean, I'm not gonna if I hear that guy ask where you can get some good fish and chips around here and some shit like that on you and about this for you, you know, like in the bit in between the bands, there's like adverts going on and it's it's the guy from like the Bring Me sort of like the gaming that they had that was sick, and it's just him just talking to the crowd. But it's the same VT, same VT, over and over. Anyone know, I can get some good fish and chips around here. And it got to the point where it'd come on and people were just like wording along too it because because they've heard it that much.
26 Oh it was great. I had a really good time at download. Yeah, it was good fun. But I'm having even more of a good time here at Bloodstock. That's maybe because you guys are playing it Bloodstock, thank you. Yeah, I mean, I mean blood Stocking. Download get a lot of comparisons. I completely get White in terms of like genre and things like that. Here Compacts download feels way more homely. Yeah, it feels way more We're more community that kind of thing, And it's something that I've just not had from download and going to download. So many played more all too like. I think this year's download was probably one of the most metal downloads you know, and here it's basically all like there's bands that probably play here that may never play download because it may be too much for downloads.
15 Actually, yeah, absolutely, I mean there's bands are playing that wouldn't get the same kind of slot that download as well. It's it's like to see the Sugar last night, dude that they had on the main stage was ridiculous. If they were to then do the same set download, they're probably still be headlining, but the headlining second or third stage something like that. It's it's it's just giving the platform to the biggest stages. So these bands that that thrive on it. That's what it is. Because because Sugar on on that stage site was something else. I wouldn't want to see them anywhere else than a big stage like that. Nice. It was meant, loved it.
00 And you know the fact that matter is is that I think because of the size here, a lot of bands get crowds they wouldn't get. Yeah, and like I've done health Fest, people just sit in the same area the whole day because they don't want to walk that whole huge place and they have it like very genre specific stage. I think this is better because bands like you or any band needs more exposure beyond your normal followers. That's how you draw them in. Yeah, it's it's interesting it being such a big event because we've got quite a few people that we know at the festival that if we were to sort of like do it saw something like that, we would sense see a handful of the handful of them in sort of like in Leeds, in Manchester, in Liverpool, my Newcastle are like from down south.
53 But then here it's like it's the kind of thing that a lot of our fans would go to and a lot of like our music would go to it. So it's all the people from all these different venues. If no one can see us, they're gonna come in on one spot and let's see us. And that's great. I love it. I love it. Tell everybody how they can connect you guys on socials, on the web, by your merge, check out your music tournates all so Instagram, skyst Black Official, just googling skyst Black. It kind of like comes up with with everything we need to know. In sers of Spotify YouTube, we've got a link tree that shows us everything, even all the spicy content that we do have and things like that. Yeah. Yeah, the only fans O goda click on it, please click on it. It's it makes my day when I can see the stats on link Tree as to what's being clicked on, and everything's like done okay, done okay, and then the only fans one has like a hundred times everything else? Is it because of the leather pants?
56 I I think I would to watch you try and get out of those leather pants. You would need to. Yeah, you're gonna be help. There you go. You could do normally, fans. That's just putting them on and taking them off, which is harder putting them on or taking them off. Oh, taking them off. I've got these laces on the side of them that you tighten them. They get really really tight on your thighs and then you go and do a gig on them and it's it's it's painful. Again. Did you ever think of just getting tight leather pants instead of leaving the strings? So I did have tight leather pants before, and they just wasn't doing. I'm a skinny book. I need the extra kind of you know, there you go, and you got you have get to look at and move around while you're on stage in the leather pants. I do well normally I get to see him. Why I run around in leggings. So I'm just hoping that in those pants. You're gonna be a his mobile, I I will. I want to see, like when you do the leg kicks where you're like your uncle goes the your even stuff. I want more of that, and I'm not sure I can get that in these Well what if he does a leg kick and then boom they split mid my dear, I think I think that should be a goal. Here, mission, mission, do it? Do it? Accept? All right, there it is.
22 Well you guys fucking rock. Thanks for being at blood Spack and thanks for being on the Adventures plake Man. Thank you so much, man, Thank you so much having us. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of plate Man on W four CUI Radio.
