04 Hey, you have them too, censure. I'm see wow cray you why Coup America. It's time for the Adventures of Pipe Man on W four C why dot com wis Pompis is number one Internet radio station. Here's your host, the Pipe Man. I got the phone cord wrapped around. Wrapped around my man. I don't know numbers a second back, but I know yours. Bye Lord, please call me back. Man.
01 It's the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four C Y Radio. And I'm here with Deanna from Sincere Engineer. Nice. And it was pretty cool when I saw your name because it's like my name with more Yeah, yeah, exactly, man, not Dean Deanna. That's funny yet, right you. So have you ever played ryot Fest before? Yeah? This is our third year. Nice. Yeah, listen, I do some a festivals and I'm stuck back here a lot of times. I'm like, it's just all swirls in my head. Sure you know, it's like, oh, yeah, that's right. I saw you play last year. I didn't remember it was riot Fest.
44 Yeah, oh, I get it for sure. Yeah. So what do you think of this rainfest at riot Fest? It's kind of a bummer, but I know right in there. I mean, it's it has its place. I don't know. It's like sometimes some bands are cool to see the rain. It like adds to it. You know. Yeah, like war will definitely Yeah, and when Slayer plays later and they play rain and blood totally okay, come on, I told I just interviewed. I told them they need to go up on stage during Slayer and just eat them all. You reach a point where you don't care anymore. Also, so I'm already there. So well, if somebody was saying to me, I haven't been out there yet, uh since earlier, they said it's a total mudfest out there. Yeah, and I'm like, yeah, that's why I have my festival shoes, Like I have these vands okay, same Mine were, yeah, mine were brand new and I went to grass Pope and it was mud for two days, totally destroyed them.
39 And I was like, Okay, these are the new festival shoes. That's what you do. I have like bags on my feet under I'm wearing two pairs of socks and a bag in between. Nice. You know, that's pretty cool. Figure it out there, it is, so tell our listeners who maybe I've never heard you a little bit about your music, not jenre fuck abouts Okay, yeah, I like to hear what the artists how they explain their music. Cool. Yeah, since her Juiar started as a solo project for me, like playing acoustic in twenty fifteen, and I got a band and we're on our third record now. Wow. Yeah we're like from Chicago, kind of wear. It on our sleeve a lot. And yeah, I don't know, it's like catchy. I try to be catchy melodic punk sort of. I know you said don't do the genre thing, but.
26 That's okay as long as we're not boxing you in. That's my thing. Like, I'm a girl, but I sound like this so nice? You could picture what singing voice sounds. Let me tell you something I think. And I'm old school. I think women are way more badass and metal and punk hell yeah than guys. And what the fuck were we thinking years ago not allowing women in there? You know? Yeah? Yeah, I think it makes sense too, because women are generally more passionate about things. Sure, and music is a and you get up there and you really show it, whereas there's like some bands, there's a band playing festival next week. And we all laugh about them because we love the band, but when they're up on stage, it's like their mummies. They just sit still and do nothing. Sure, sure, yeah, that's not what I want from a live show, totally.
18 Yeah, plat forms So. Yeah, I want fun, I want excitement, I want passion, I want motion. That's what you get from women, for sure. Yeah, yeah, you know, yeah, no, for sure. Yeah, I didn't mean to. I don't know if Yeah, No, it's me. I'm saying. You don't have to say. I'm saying. It's like for nobody's that's ever heard us before. It's an aggressive, like female singing thing. And except we're from Chicago. We got to talk about corn dogs. I love that pit yesterday and it was insane. Oh that's great, Yeah, it was crazy. I love it. We looked out with the weather yesterday. I know, aren't you super hot? But are you glad though you played yesterday? Sure? Today, I feel bad for the band today. There's probably I don't know, it seems like there's less people here today, which is a bummer.
01 But yeah, they'll be here layer for Slayers shirt. But it sucks for bands like you that you know a lot of times I have festival, you get a lot of coverage because if there's good weather, people are going to be here and stuff catch your set. Yeah, and you know what, I always want to ask, So yesterday I heard the dust was really bad. Feeling it this morning? I always wonder, okay, because I'm always get the festival flu, like literally, yeah, I just got done with the festival flu from the last one. Yeah, and now I'm glad it's raining today because I'm not getting it today. But I always wonder, especially if you're. Singing, how the hell you do that when you're going from festival to festival, because oh my god, yeah, because.
46 I'm like dying afterwards. Yeah, No, it was. I mean we played by the baseball field, so there was extra dust because people walking on it, and like you could see it in the pictures. It's so like dusty and stuff. It's part of the experience. That's right, That's right. Who's the first artist you ever saw that? You just were like, man, I want to be that El. Client Trio nice from Chicago also, so it's very cool. So what was it? Tell us a little bit about that moment when you saw that and it made you feel like that. I saw them at a young age. I actually didn't really think i'd be doing this. I went to school for biology and I wanted to be a dentist, and I didn't get into dental school, so I started playing guitar, or I've been. I was playing guitar like since I was a kid. But I started writing songs in college when school got harder, and then my friend gave me my first show and I snowballed into this.
35 So nice. Yeah, what did your family think when you're like, yeah, I'm not gonna be a dentistymore. Now I'm gonna be banned. Uh some confusion and I mean it, this is like a span of like five ten years at this point. But you know, at first it was like what do you you know, why are you doing that? And then now they're like super supportive of it, So you. Know that's cool. Yeah, okay, cuz there's nobody from my generation that was a parent that was ever support of this, and I find that now that a lot of parents are coaching. Yeah it's us jen xers. Yeah that are like yeah cool. Yeah, yeah totally. You know, we weren't able to do that. Yeah, you go do it, go to school, find a job.
19 Yeah, So what's one of your favorite stories, good or bad that when you're like eighty you're gonna talk about in this musical journey. Oh that's a good question. I don't know if I can think of a specific thing. And just we've like toured Europe and Canada and all over the United States several times now, and I'm just very grateful to have that opportunity to like we met so many people, play with so many awesome bands, seen places that will never go like it unless we're playing a show. So I'm just super grateful for that, and hopefully there's gonna be more to come and go to Australia. And Japan one day. Yeah, and I heard Brazil is a cool place to play too, yes, hell yeah, I heard rock and Rios.
59 Like, oh my god, yeah totally banned. You totally want play that? Yeah, yeah for sure. Like second to riot Fest of course, riot Fest is like the pinnacle. Right, Yeah, I love it here. It is pretty cool. Yeah, like it's our third time. Did you go over to riot Land yet? I want you so bad? I'm probably today it's probably less crowded today to Today's a good day for it. Totally see the fire side thing. Yeah, and you got hells to pop in and then the burlesque shows cool stuff. Yeah, it's pretty cool. Like I love this festival because it's kind of like, even though it's a. Festival, it's got a local feel to it. And then it's just fun.
39 Yeah, and then all the restaurants and businesses in the area. Totally. It's awesome. It's pretty cool too because like, okay, so they weren't going to do it at Douglas Park this year, and you know a lot of people over the years used to you know, say stuff about moving I here and then boom they found out as it's riot Fest left at Yeah. Yeah, man, they want it here. Yeah. Yeah, and you. Know we are back at Douglas Park. I love it for sure. Yeah, happy to be here. Yeah. Tell us a little bit about your set yesterday. What can somebody expect from a live show from you guys? From my perspective, it was insane and surreal. I cannot believe how many people watched us in the heat, and that we were up against some like really legendary bands.
21 So the fact that people took time out of their day to come watch us was insane and yeah, it was a half hour, got some sunburn, right, It was super fun and we had a blast. See I love hearing that part. Yeah, cause like there's a loours out there that I don't understand why they're artists because they're not having fun. And if you get me in this business, you should be having fun. It's like only fun. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. You know my daughter sometimes I'll bring her to festivals, my youngest daughter, Yeah, and she likes it. But after half of the first day she's like, Dad, I don't know how you do this every weekend? Yeah, yeah, I'm done, and I'm like, I don't know how. I don't like, you know, you go home and then it's like, okay, now what do I do?
03 Right? For sure? Yeah, totally yeah, you want to. I get that. It's definitely an endurance test, oh for sure, especially if you come earlier in the day and stuff. So totally. So what else he got going on after this that people should know about it and. Look out for. We're touring with Newfund Glory on the West Coast in October, and then we got two shows with Taking Back Sunday in December in New Jersey and New York. Nice, I'm working on some new songs. I think I'm gonna have two acoustic songs come out in December. Nice and sorry. This relay race out of the. Yeah, what's going on here? We should talk about it? I missed that and then I loved it happening. But there's dudes with no clothes. On and they're all in the port I want sort of flag. I wonder who they are, Like a guar would talk about blowing up those porta potties. They should have done it while they were in.
54 Ye, that would that would have been good for the audio. I know, right, I would have loved it. But yeah, so yeah, just doing stuff, hopefully some more touring next year. Nice. I like that you're touring with Newfound Glory. I'm actually friends with Ian Hope because they live right nearby me Orlando. They're actually from Margate, Florida. Oh cool, awesome. Yeah, he's he always comes to our green room. And talks to us. He's awesome. Oh, he's totally He's only cool. He's totally cool. He's totally down to earth. Like one time we were hanging out it's like local bar and Margate and he turned to me and he asked me something about picking up on some girl. I'm like, dude, you're a newfound glory, like you don't need advice from me.
35 That's awesome, right, you know? How does everybody reach out to you on socials, on the web, get your merch all that good stuff. At sincere ejeer on all of the platforms and sincere engineer dot com. Are you really sincere? I think so? Try you seem like. It, thank you, thank you. Your favorite tattoo that you have. I haven't seen them all obviously by sawest one. It's worms spelling yellow. Well oh wow, yeah, see if you didn't tell me that, I went and I didn't notice that it's. My newest one. My friend Laura did it. It's pretty good artwork. Actually, it's it's only like a month old, so it looks. Wow, it looks good. It's fresh, right yeah? Hell yeah. Is there a tattoo that you want to get that you haven't gotten yet?
18 Yeah? I want like a neck tattoo, but I shouldn't. I gotta try to not. So that's funny, that's fun I shouldn't, but I. Don't like it. I mean, I don't know what it would be but I'm more about like, I don't know, I've got all the ones I actually want placement wise, I. Love one on my neck. See that's cool. What do you like about the neck tattoo? And what stops you parents? Okay, yeah, yeah. The supportive ones I gotta you know, meet them halfway. There you go, and they could support me. I won't get the neck tattoo. That's the agreement. Hey, that's worth it, right totally? Yeah, yeah, for sure. Is there anything else you want the listeners to know that we haven't her to array that they need to look out for.
02 I think that's it. Just if you haven't heard us checks out. It's like fun pop punkish music. Nice tour a lot, so you know, come up to your show. They're fun. Well, you guys are badass, and uh, thank you. I'm totally happy you're here at Rye. Thanks for having me. This was fun, and thanks for being here. And you didn't even have to be here with the rain and you came anyway. So I like you tell you thanks. For being on the Adventures pipe Man.
