04 Hey, you love them too, sus Sure, I'm for see why you wake up America. It's time for the Adventures. So pipe Man on w forcy dot Com. West pom Beach is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the pipe Man. This is pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W for c Y Radio and I'm here with screaming females. Nice.

57 You're at Riot Fest. So how do you love this festival? Like? How do we love right festival? How you love this festival? Well, you actually played a previous one. I think it was in twenty twelve. I had the flu, so I didn't really go to the festival. So this one's a lot more entertaining for me. I would watching some stuff happen and walking around and I don't have both flu. What other festivals have you guys done? More than I can count, But in recent memory, we were just out a couple of weeks ago in Seattle to do bumber Shoot Nic festival that's going on there for fifty years wow, And they just had a big relaunch after a few years off. So it was pretty exciting. That's pretty cool. Any other ones that stick in your mind? Last year we played the we played an arts festival in Chicago, but I'm blanking on the name Elmwood Arts Festival. I don't Flynnwood Arts Festival. That might set that sounds more. It was great fun. So how do you guys as a band feel about playing festivals opposed to playing club shows, opposed to being on the road doing other shows Like I'd say that festivals can be as different as clubs are. Some clubs are cool and you feel really welcome and sound great. Others I feel like they want you out the door as quick as possible. Sometimes festivals treat you really well. Other times they they're like, yeah, you've got nowhere to park, so you gotta get in here and play and figure it out on your own. I think that ultimately, with

28 a festival, you just got to come in with the attitude that you're just gonna have fun and whatever happens happens. You can't get in there and nitpick about sound or about how your monitors sound like, or how you even perform. It's just try to do your best and have have some fun while you're at it. You know, it's funny you talk about sound. So one of the festivals I do, hell fest now they have like twelve stages. Last year was like three hundred and sixty bands and every band said to me, greatest experience ever. Sound Check took like five minutes and it was perfect. No stress, because that's the biggest stress for you guys. Right, It's like you're not working with your normal sound person, and then sound check can be kind of a headache. Right. Well, a lot of times you don't even get a sound check, so if you get one, you're kind of lucky. Sometimes that's right, so you know, you kind of go with it, you know, whatever happens. I mean, I think that that's an important thing as a band. All different bands have different setups in different ways of operating, but for us, it's always been super important to be able to just get up there and play wherever we are and or whatever circumstances. You know what I love about riot Fest. We're talking about this on the way in because I do a lot of festivals. I didn't have to figure out where the media tent is because everything is in the same place every year. I don't have to think about every other festival. It's like I spend an hour try and find a media tent because they like to not think about anything, right, just go know where you gotta go, load in and you're ready to go, and don't have to deal with where's

00 this? Well, we haven't been here in ten years or more, so we had to figure out where everything was. But we figured it out. There you go, good signage. You know what else I snoice is like at some other festivals, the artists only get a band for that day, but they're not allowed to be there. And maybe that's true here too, but they're not allowed to be there to rest at a time, Like if you're leaving on the road, that's one thing, but I would think if you're an artist, you should just be able to stay the whole festival. I agree, we have to head out tomorrow anyway, So I didn't research it. But this wristband says artists Friday on it, which I noticed as Suzo saying. I was looking at his O like, well, maybe that was the wrong way for me to go, But I agree with you if you're playing, if you're playing a festival, you should be able to go see a band you love the next day as well. Yeah, or interviews like I set up a reviews and sometimes a band not knowing I'll set up an airview for a day that they're not playing, and then they find out they can't do the interview because they're not allowed in the press tent that day, And I'm like, that's ridiculous, that's weird. But right fest I think is run really well, great festival. We're glad you guys played here because you guys kick ass. So why don't you, why don't you tell our listeners who have never heard you, in your opinion, why they should listen your band. They're they're all pointing to you. I think we're a lovely group of very considerate people who enjoy each other's company and making nice music

31 to to bang your head too. What a core study? And chill? What a concept nowadays? Right Like? What a concept nowadays? Right Like? You can do both that, you can actually be nice and chill and all that stuff you said, sometimes we're nice and chill and sometimes we're nice and not chill. Well, they can guarantee you that will always be nice. And speaking of banging your head behind us, there's a massage therapist for free for ever all the press and the artists. So if you were you're killing it to me, after the set. Yeah, after the set you're killing it too much and your neck's all messed up and your back's all messed up. Getting a little older, so we got to start keeping up the the ship. Yeah, I can't even move my neck because I head buying in for terrible. As far as it's okay, I mean it was worth it. Yeah, you know, I still do it like it's still like I'll be out there tonight. I can't escape my whole here till later, but I'll be out there tonight and I won't care about the pain. I'll be just like, that's a beautiful thing. Threw it. I'm out there.

41 Thank you so much. What a compliment. There you go. It's worth it. It's worth it. You gotta Joe, so do it. So, what's the craziest story you have in your guy's musical journey? Most of our craziest stories are tour stories that mostly deal with like p and poop and puke and stuff. And I wouldn't necessarily say that they're crazy, they're just gross. You know why I was laughing. I was laughing because there's this other question I've asked, like what story good or bad? When you're like eighty you're gonna talk about and the number one answer from artists has been shipping their pants on stage. No, none of us have done that yet, but it's inevitable, awfully close. Right in that frame of mind, we recently came out with a documentary about a store we did earlier this year in Alaska, which is the fiftieth state we had to play, And on the last night we played a club called Coots that's been there forever. And the whole time we were in Alaska, people said where are you playing an Anchorage and said Coots And said, oh boy, and said what does that mean? Like that's the place you're most likely I hit with a bar stool in Alaska, So I was like okay. And when we got there, the establishment did not have doors or seats on their toilets. Wow, And I had to use the facility whether they liked it or not. So I just plopped down in there and waved to everybody was walking by. Have you been to the UK yet to play again? Oh? Yeah, We've been all over the UK and Europe and New Zealand and Australia and Costa Rica and

13 Puerto Rico. Oh where in Costa Rica. I love Costa Rica, so I want to do a festival there, but there's only like one. But where is the cool place to go catch good music at Costa Rica? I don't know. It was a bunch of years ago and it was a really whorldwind trip. We played one show in San Jose and it was really fun. But I couldn't I couldn't not tell you anything other than they have the worst traffic I've ever seen in the world. Yeah, and you get out of San Jose and it's all like dirt roads, like something that should take you like a half an hour, it takes like four hours and the yeah, totally And okay, So what shocked me the first time I did download like I do download at Bloodstock in the UK is I was staying there and people in the crowd out, We're just peeing right there, like yeah, right where you stand, and it's just normal to them. It wasn't like some drunk dude and it was, oh, they're probably some drunk dude though there it was, but it was just like everybody does it. Or they were lined up against the wall. Oh yeah, in the in like the normal party zones in UK cities. They usually have these like semi permanent urinals that just like go up on the street at night and they just like PLoP them on, like you know, a signpost or whatever. And I don't like the trough one either, Like I don't want to be in a line with a bunch of other people just sitting heah, I don't mind. And it's all rolling down. Yeah, that's fine, you know. I do like a door on the door would because shitter. But you know, beggars

46 can't be choosers. There you go, so tell everybody how they connect to you guys. Some socials on the web and you know, really easy to find screaming Females dot com. It has all the info. We it up to date. You can find all the links to every all the social media sites and everything else. Just go there scream females dot com. What else do you want? The listeners know that we haven't talked about Uh. We've been a band a long time where a dy band or self managed always have been. We work with close friends of ours because we find it important to keep up good relationships and to build community out of music rather than just try to, I don't know, reach some unattainable goal of stardom or something.

31 I love it. And for you, which is your favorite tattoo on? There? Because you got some cool shit? Yeah, you got cool shit going on. I mean, I really like this garbage can. I'm waiting for us. I'm waiting for Oscar to clus to trump out. No, you know he's not in here. This is just empty. And then on the other arm, I have a garbage bag with a cinder block and a banana tree. Close are pretty cool. I think they're all pretty neat. I think they are too. Which one that's the most meaning to none of them? They're all that Oh my gosh, she has both Mike and myself tattooed on her and she just called it all meaningless. Oh wow, I didn't really see those ones. I forget that they are there. So that's a first. Because I was doing the interview, we hurt their feelings.

22 I know. Well, we might have to keep it, but if you want me to edit it, okay. Yeah. Maybe it's funny because the other band before I was interviewing Faya, they all they all have the band name tattooed on. You're the first that had your band members tattooed, so now they have to be in the band forever, and you have to be in the band forever. Yeah, that's the plan. There we go. I love it. So. Yeah, it's a really good portrait. See oh yeah, is that is like exactly? I know so we didn't hear on the mic. But he's got a tattoo of her right, yeah?

05 Correct? You know that's what if you change your hairstyle. Though I'm not going to do that either. See I changed. We had it all planned a long time ago. I love it. Yeah. Is there a band you want to tour with that you guys have never toured with yet? A band that we would like to go on tour with and we haven't gone on tour with Pearl Jam? WHOA, that's pretty cool. That would be a cool one. Let's let's put that out there in the world. Would be neat. I was thinking Pearl Jam as well. I don't know. I just said it's forgotten every band he's ever heard of. I would like to go on tour at the Readers, which you're doing next week. Nice, So there it is. I love it, easy peasy, Well, thanks for being here at riot Fest and thanks for being on the Adventures plate Man.

50 Thanks for talking to us. Thank you for listening to the adventures of plate Man on douve u for Cui Radio m
