When I'm here with Richard Patrick filter. How are you?
04 Oh, I'm amazing because you're here at Welcome to rock fille Man. Really we I was overwhelmed with how many people came to saw us. It's wild here, right, really really blown away that it was like, must have been twenty thousand. I mean it was a nice a lot of people. Yeah, not bad. And what's it like sitting here in Daytona Speedway doing a show looking at the stands Here at Daytona Speedway, you literally get vertigo because of the stands. It's it's it's like you're like, oh, look they have solar We're underneath solar panels. Oh cool, I know, right, Yeah, it's wild A little solar panel, maybe little maybe little electric.
49 They'll do electric cars one year. Yeah, that would be wild, right crazy, I would be totally cool. I think they should do that, get superchargers to like pump them really fast, no doubt. Yeah, And did you take a drive or at did you drive on it? Is that wild or what? That very cool? It's not what you see on TV like it's it's kind of insane. And then the embankment huge it is, it's wild. This is a large chunk of land. Yeah, and they are not kidding. And these cars are fast, Yes, they are loud. I have a jeep. I drove around there. I'm like, man, I would flip on those embankments. Dude. Yeah, even going like one hundred miles an hour. He's still like yeah, yeah, it's no wonder When you see this, You're like, no wonder, Like, but man, you guys have been doing this a long time. Yeah, what keeps you motivated after all these years to write new music? Because you have new music now? And they was bidden with a bug when I was very young to write and be creative musically, and I am blessed that I am allowed to continue to do it. I love it. And I have a new record coming out in August with ten great New Song or ten or eleven Great News. So I can't remember how many. It's so many great new songs, and I'm really stoked for the audience to hear it. I can't wait. Oh, I'm totally stoked too, Like I love when ours
22 had been around for a while write new music because I'm so in awe. It's like, man, how do they do that? Come up with material after all these years? It like I sit in that thing hit you wow, Like that's just amazing. It just hits you. You get creative, yeah, totally really like you get to be in your bonnet and you just want to go nuts there you go write something cool. So the new album, what would you say is the same? What's different from previous? Well, I'm working with this kid named Zach Monowitz. Zach Monowitz was on Instagram playing some crazy guitar part and I reach out to him. I damned him and I said, Yo, I'm Richard Patrick. Would you be interested in working with me? He responded and said yes. He sent me three or four parts to a song. I arranged it into like an order that I could sing over right, and I sang over it that afternoon. And that song is for the Beating Wow, which is the first song that we released after you know, a couple of years. Wow. And he's like, he's like, let me get this straight. You want to write with me.
35 I'm like, yeah, I want to write with you. And he's like, but I wouldn't have to join the band. I'm like, no, you wouldn't have to join it, just write with me. And it was really funny. And and when we were working on the music, it was so his guitar playing is so crazy that I was like, dude, how how are my my live guys going to be able to play this? You know? And he showed us how, which is wow, which he uses all kinds of technology. He's like a little Eddie van Halen of Wow. New world sounds like new crazy sounds. It's amazing. It was Zach Monowitz. Wow, you know it is amazing. Arnest like Zach, like, they're changing the world of rock and roll. And I think it's totally cool of somebody like you that is like evolving with that, because there's the bands that want to hold on to what was yeah, and there's the bands that want to move forward with what is yeah. So that's cool. Yeah.
36 The song for the Beaten is like this crazy sonic departure. But it still sounds like filter. You know, I'm singing over it. It has this big, huge chorus, which I love to write, and yeah, I'm stoked about it. Nice. It's cool. That's very cool. So you said about getting the bug? Was there a moment in time that or something that happened that created that bug or just come in your head? That's just how I was born. That's usually really really really wanted to do it, and I just put my mind to it. And I met a friend. His name was Trent Resiner, and he had the same motions, a little guy named Trent Resiner. And Trent had the same dreams and I did too, and Trent was like, you know, it was I could tell that I wasn't really needed to be creative in Nine Inch Nails at the time.
34 And I split and left and ninety three and since then we've made up and we had a reunion September and it was amazing, Like he has out for five songs Wow. I played Eracer sin Wish gave up. He learned hey Man Nice Shot, which is my song wow, and he played Nine Inch Nails played and learned Hayman the Shot, and then we did had like a hole, and I sang the second verse, I've had like a hole. It wasn't It was amazing that. See now I normally asked story about a story, and that's the greatest story right there, most of all because you guys reunited like and squashed whatever was in the past. Yeah, and that's see, that's what it's all about right there. And you know, we're friends forever, you know, like we went through, we went through some of the craziest times on the planet together in the early days of nine inches, I'm sure, just crazy stuff that you can't repeat. Like people would not believe it. You do not believe some of the crazy shenanigans we got away with. And like him and I have that forever, you know what I mean, it will always be friends because of that. That's way cool. You know, it's funny because I can relate to what you're saying, because you know, like I tell my kids stories from way back, and of course they think I'm full of crap. And then I was doing
07 interview the other day with an old friend of mine from abandoned the eighties and we hadn't talked in like thirty forty years, and he confirmed this story in the interview, So I played it for my kids. I'm like, here's why my story's confirmed. So that's what's cool about it, you know. And so tell everybody how they can get the new music, how they can connect to you guys. I mean they should know, but and buy merch and all that great. Facial filter dot com is our website.
