00 Hey, you love them too, that's sure. I'm come. I'm to see why for you. Wake up America. It's time for the Adventures of Pipeman on W four CWY dot com West pom Beaches number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man. Can you walk down? I don't walk down. This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures Pike Man W FOURCY Radio. And I'm here with Damian Drake a Red Star Nightmare grizz of Red Star. Nicey nice. I love the way you guys look too, because I'm big into that, like look like a rock star too, Be a rock star, look like a rock star. No shades or killer by the way. Now, so I gotta show you a picture of me two months ago, and you'll see why I love looks okay, because two months ago I would have had shades like that that are blue, and and
30 because I love to match everything, so you'll see when I pull it up. In the meantime, let's talk about your guys. For all our listeners who have never heard you before, how would you describe your music? Not genre because that stuff's bullcrap. Okay, let's just play a label on your boxing. You in how do you describe yourself? It's fucking aggression without the screams. Nice. I think that's about put it. Like, we we go hard as fuck. I'm just not that good at doing metal shit, So I'm up there just yelling I love it. I love it. And how about you beating away at those skins. Yeah, I just hit shit as hard as I can and not fall off my damn throne. But I'm just having a blast, That's what I'm trying. That's the key right there.
21 Yeah, And I love that he wraps and he's so good at it. And I have a background in hip hop just like as a lover of it. So no matter what, we always groove, we always throw down. It's always easy for us. So I'm just having the time of my life every single time. That's the way it should be, man, Like, why be in this business if you're not having the time of your life? Right Like, there's no other reason. And people can tell when they see you up on stage, like I look sometimes like, man, they are just having the best freaking time. And then there's other bands. I'm like, they need to break up, they're not happy together. So yeah, so here's here was me two months ago. Oh he shit's fucking sick man, right, I was. So, I was doing this shit early on where I was dying my whole fucking head red. But it so, I said, Fuck, I just started doing it black. And I've always done the eyeliner and shit red. But you know, try to keep with the color theme, you know, That's why I did everything would be blue.
25 You know. I even bought a car that was like the same color as my hair. And ship were rival gangs. That's right, that's right. We're not allowed in places too like your colors. I used to dye in my dreads every other week and nice. It was a pain in the ass. That's probably even more of a paeos, isn't it, Because to me, dreads are a pain as to begin with. Probably I've never had him, but I can imagine that. I was talking one of my friends recently. He said, it takes like eight hours to shampoo his head. Yeah, I mean it takes well, I've I've been growing this for twenty years, so yeah, it's all me. So when I sudged it up, it gets in there. It just takes eight hours to dry. That makes sense. But yeah, I used to I used to die it all the time, but then if my hair was started drying out and breaking off, so then I just went to the raps. There you go, and they look cool. Actually, to be honest, I always look at people with dreads, especially when they're long like that. I'm like, that was a lot of work to get to that point, you know, like it's actually patience. You know, my senior year, going to my senior in high school, my mom was like, I ain't haven't you looked like that for your senior pictures? Cut that ship. So I had to go Denzel Washington on him with the ball of Fade. And then right after I got my senior pictures done, I just said, fucking I'm gonna let it go.
46 And it's been like this ever since, just going and going and going nice. You know what's so crazy about that, because I'm just hearing that for the first time. When I was fucking in high school, and shit, my mom wouldn't let me grow my hair out for the long because she was like, I don't want my kid looking like some dirt bag. So for the longest time I had a shaved head. And then when I turned eighteen, I fucking just went all in and fucking for my second tattoo ever was my entire chess and my mom when fucking Cobby come over, she'd make me take my show and be like, look at this, Look what he fucking did to himself. Look at like and like, I'm like, that's what happened though, Like I remember, the kids that had the strictest parents are the ones that did all that shit. Like even back in the day when tattoos weren't popular, if your parents told you you weren't getting tattooed, that was the first thing you did. Oh immediately, man, fucking you can imagine what it was like. Yeah, my face tattooed. Fucking that was just like right, yeah it was. And they were not happy.
38 But I kept going and they learned, hey, yeah we got There's nothing we could do about it, you know what I mean, I'll just keep getting them. Yeah, there you go. And you know what, once your adult pave your own way anyway, you know, and and either people got full in line or they don't. Yeah it was me. You look like, wait, you're gonna laugh. Okay, in that picture you look like my grandson. Okay, wait wait wait wait, I think if I'm saying he looks like my grandson. That's a pretty cool compliment. But I gotta show you now you're making me pull up another picture here. Okay, but nice. You look like you were in bad brains. You look like you were in bad brains right there. Well that was a huge influence.
27 I was a bad brains link eighty, you know, a little brown bite guy. Then I went to night and then I got angrier and slower. I love it. I love it. See, I love blending all that stuff because I'm into all that stuff too. Like listen, I'm a thrash metal head, so I throw down in the pit. But I love a scot pit. It's just fun and you don't have to worry about nothing. Just have fun. It's like it's a fun pit. You know, you're not You're not getting your aggressions out there. You're just having a good time. So what you got going on after Rockville? Shit, we're going up the coast. We're playing Jersey and then we're jumping on her in Jersey.
08 I'm from Jersey, no way, Yeah, where are you from? I'm originally from the North Montclair roseland Low Falls, but I moved down from down the Shore Ocean Township. Yeah. I so, I grew up in Forked River in fucking Wow County before I just moved to Arizona because the whole band lives in La so doing these cross country flights from Newark were killing me. So I was. I was living in Seaside Heights before I just moved pretty recently. Okay, So I got two stories from what you said. Number One, I used to coach hockey at Wall Okay, that's oh, he likes that. I gotta say. I'm a hockey coach. I'm nice hockey. I'm from Michigan, So I grew up playing hockey. I coach now.
48 I coached Dublin Triple A and high school and junior hockey usphl. Wow. It's like six and seven days a week. Yeah, and see, you know, you know you're a decade dad when you coach your it in ice hockey. Because I used to have to show up at the arena at three am on Sunday for four ams. Er. You know that that's serious dedication. Get your coffee, get your pillow just in case you pass out right on the ice, grinding it up. That's that's what. That's it. So if I'm not on stage or a drum kit. I'm on the ice, just mucking it up. There you go. I love it. And and so the other thing that you said that now I lost the earth thing. But okay, so forkid River and what do you say after that? I'm living in Seaside, Oh seaside, never mind Seaside. First album I ever owned in my life I won on the boardwalk at Seaside Heights.
37 It was the original Kiss album when it first came out. Holy shit, right, And winning it at a carney Gate that's crazy, right. They used to They had a fucking really cool shop on there. I forget the name of it, but they sold like all like old school banties and ship and it was like the only one up there, and they had patches and fucking you name it, anything that was fucking band related. They fucking have it. And they they're still there. I literally just fucking left. So I mean, wow, fuck, that's all I know. Man's the fucking sure is that spot on? Yeah? That's crazy. It's the same hair do right, right? Oh man? So anyway, tell everybody how they reach out to you guys on socials on the web, you know, buy your merch, because that's the most important thing. Buy merch. You guys can't survive without merch. Yeah, man, so Red Star fucking one word with two d's, not one, just two, and then you throw music after that. Fucking everything comes up, fucking socials, the website, with the merch, everything. We try to make it real easy, you know what I mean. Some of these bands fucking are struggling, and at the end of the day, we got to try and make it as easy as possible for people to find whatever we're fucking putting out the no Doubt, No doubt, and they definitely got to check you guys out because you're badass.
58 And like, I love your attitude too, so that's even more badass to me. Like, there's plenty of great bands with bad attitudes that makes them less of a band. Good bands with great attitudes fucking winner in my book. And so are you guys? So is there anything going on that we haven't talked about that you need the listeners to know? Yeah, So we just put out a song pretty recently with Hiro the Hero and Dan Sugarman of Ice nine Kills. It's called Head Underwater that just got added to rotation on Octane, So shout out to Octane and I love hiro. Yeah, it's the fucking best man. He's great. Yeah, it's getting ton of love. I wish his ass wasn't in France. We would have had him come out and do this shit with us. But so we played the song in his spirit, you know, to help promote that ship. Other than that, it's just make sure if you didn't fucking catch us at this we're louder than life and aftershock later in the year, if you got I'll be there too. So for everybody goes hard for DWP, make sure you pull up because we gonna be pulling up for everything. Oh man, I love it.
01 I love it. So if you had one story, good or bad in this musical journey, what would it be? One story? Well, you got you got anything? Do you want to help me buy time? You know what? I had a good you know? Okay, Well there's a couple of good things. First of all, being found by Red Star is probably one of the most epic things that have experienced because my whole life I looked at myself is kind of like, you know, the kid that has to catch up to everybody. Everyone's got the thing going and they're always so good and you're trying to find your place, and you know, these guys warmly accepted me, and they and they graciously put me on and make me feel like I belong and I'm one of them. So that and that led to this. I mean, there's I don't think there's a better story that I could have than being recognized for who you are and people just always supporting that, just always support that. That family shit. You know, I love it. Bad story. You know, I don't really have anything that's really devastating other than you know, just drama, you know, typical band drama that's happened in the past from other stuff, but you learn from it. It is lessons. It's good to be in a band where you don't have that band drama too. Like that's what I was talking about before.
22 When you look at people on stage, you know, you can tell when there's drama, and it's it's very transparent. And this is no business to have drama because there's enough drama outside the band. I got a story, and this could be for the fans to decide on if it's good or bad. I hooked up with a chick right in front of her brother and he was like cheering me on. Wow, now I'll see that. Not how do you need time for that story? That's bad. That's a story that's for people to choose whether it's good or bad on them. But yeah, I remember like just being out a show and I was hooking up with this chick and her brother would just I don't know, he'd spit out random bullshit, like yeah, man, I was at this one thing and like just saying random shit. I'm like not even listening because I'm just like if I was in your shoes, I don't know if I'd be like totally okay with this right, Like I wouldn't. I'd be king and that scenario.
16 Like, yeah, I get it that everybody's an adult, but like, I don't want to watch my sister hook up with some band guy, you know what I mean. So but yeah, surely enough he didn't try fighting me, so I guess it was good for me. But maybe weird conversation on the ride home for them, and let's say we're from West Virginia. That was just normal. Yeah you were just you were just a four play for them. Yeah, hell yeah, brother? Oh man, love it. You guys rock thanks for being here and welcome to Rockville, and thanks for being on The Adventures plate Man appreciate it. Man, thank you for having us, Thank you for listening to The Adventures.
