04 Hey, you have unto the censure. I'm see Wow, Pray young Roo. Whake up America. It's time for the Adventures of Pipe Man on W four C why dot Com West pomp Beats is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man. M hm, she said, goes in pribing revolutions in my head. The gm gos filsting agree, Grant I have been.

50 It's cold. It's pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man w for C y Radio and I'm here. With Renee from Reach NYC, Dante reach n y C, Tim Motherfucker. From Kittie Big Non Alcoholic bea AJ from Reach NYC. Nice. So my first question for you is how many idiotic press people have asked you about your band name and it where you're from. Oh, you know what, people just can't figure out where we're from, right, And I'm like, you know, we started just as Reach, right, and for some reason the Toothbrush wouldn't let us have Reach.

35 So now that's funny. So literally, like we were in the we started him started ninety. Ninety eight and literally we gotta have to deal with our lava records and they made us put like they made us out, change our name to Reach four fifty four, and then we went on hiatus for a little while. Basically we all got we got dropped by Lava right and my wife got right and we all I started working in Columbia Records. He was doing and he's also a sensate too nice. Also heals people with his hands. Does he do it up on the on stage at Louder than Life? That's why I want now? I could it today. We had the opportunity. Yeah. See last time when we played Welcome Rockle they asked him to member drum solo, jump solo, and we looked at that Bundy.

25 We were like he was about to and the stadium is like, no, you motherfucking that. But yeah, so anyways to get back to it, we I hateus saying when our Revolved magazine. They did our first thing back. It was like reach our back after seventeen years with a new single with Jacoby Shaddocks. It's pretty funny. Anyways, there we you know what, Honestly we came back. We had we had stopped playing music for a while and my good friend passed away and killed himself, and I was in a massive depression and this guy I was. I was there at like when that happened when you're talking about Chester, right, Yeah, yeah, I was. I was not with him, but at the show when that happened whenever he did that. Like same with Cornell too.

18 Oh yeah, I mean. Literally I was like with him, like, I mean, I'll show you a text with him, like on the fifteenth, and he did it on the and I talked to him on the nineteenth. It's insane anyways, So I was in a massive depression. Him and Marcos in Jacoby, We're like, we're gonna put you on some shows to open up for us, and you better get your band back there right now. So nice, we did it, and you know what, we're just having fun. And we got a little EP deal. We got a little EP deal with The Orchard. Then we got a record deal with AFM Records. Nice. And here we are playing our second time at Ladder in Life. Nice. We played Walking to Rockville, We're playing Aftershock. I'll see you there then too. I love that festival. Now sits brought up Rockville. I think we need to talk about Florida.

03 Oh, first of all, I loved rock playing in Rockville. And let's see, did you drive on the speedway. Yes, now that's cool as shit. Oh yeah, so we Tim and I were the schmucks that got stuck driving the van from New York straight to Florida because we had no tour booked around Rockville. But when it came down to driving the van on the speedway, it's my van. It's just a twenty eleven Florida conline. I was real psyched to get the van on the speedway. And yeah, I was like, yo, this is the first time his van's been almost like a race car. Yeah. I tell you what too. I have a jeep, a jeep moob and I was driving on the speedway and I told Christine up there, who runs media. I'm like, I got my skateboard in my jeep. If I go on the speedway with my skateboard, will I lose my media credential. She's like, yeah, probably, Okay, I'll wait till after the festival's over.

57 That's great. Me and this guy always have more skateboard everywhere. Because it's always in my It's always. Right. But that ship's that wall. It's not what you see on TV. Man, that's just standing there. You can I would have definitely broken a lot of bones on. That wouldn't be the first time, but I would have. Should next time, I'm to drop in on the speedway. So yeah, we were talking before the interview. Born in New York, grew up in Jersey, which here will give it to him. He didn't like the New Jersey far yeah right, and then I moved to Florida. I could tell you one thing about Florida. I have never liked Florida.

38 I've been there, I've never liked it. I feel that anybody that is a reject from New York and New Jersey are the ones that go to Florida, the real New Yorkers Florid Yeah people York Pennsylvania, yeah right, Yeah. I have a brother that lived in somewhere in fucking Pennsylvania. Like how you live in Pennsylvania? Like who does it? Or even like Philly. I was dating some girl, singer of a hardcore punk bench. She lived in Philly. She want me to move up there. I'm like, there ain't no way I'm living in Philly in a million fucking years. Okay, to college and Temple. Well there you go. That's worth it. That's worth it.

19 So so you make a right to make a left. Yeah, exactly, the jug handle. The jug handle, man, I don't know what what's up with no right on red? Listen, you're all wrong. The real place that you need to move to is Connecticut. Let me just say that beautiful beaches won't take it. Connecticut's fan. My brother loves Connecticut. That's why I'll never move there. Yeah. My brothers there in Connecticut too, and I probably should do the same thing. The real reality is the most beautiful city in the country is Yaker, New York.

01 Nice Yonkers. Yes, so. You got You guys are from the island. Okay, do you remember Harrows. I used to manage the heroes in Old Bridge. I used to have to go out to Melville for meetings. I know exactly where Melville I did. Do you remember when? Was it the fucking blizzard of eighty nine? I think it was? Yes, I was in Melville. The snow didn't even start yet. I drove and basically we got out and there was too FIUs snow and it took eight hours to get from Melville back to Oldbridge, New Jersey. There were cars, there were cars deserted on the Verrizona, like fucking Mercedes I'm like, where did these people go jump off the bridge? Insane?

56 You know what? It was pretty crazy. It used to actually snow back in the day. Right, yeah, what happened to snow? Right? But I don't think that people Florida know what happened? Is So, which was your favorite New York clubs to play? Well? Yeahs yeah, But one of my most memorable experiences, and it applies to Louder than Life, was at Lamour's Yep Slayer played. They played four ong cores, but after the third og core, everybody was leaving. After the second people were leaving and I'm standing by the door. I'm Vorant's over and I heard the first note of Angel Death and I watched like two hundred people get slammed right out the door. It was one of the best shows ever.

48 You know what, I'm gonna tell you. Our show our favorite show at TVGBS. So we've played at TV GBS. It was like right after nine to eleven, Right, it was like really fucking fucking tanks in the street and shit, right, it was crazy, right, and Green Day was at our show and they asked them use our equipment and they played for two hours. Wow. Yeah, So they use our equipment and then he helped us bring it in the cars and ship. Well that's cool. They were awesome. I love Green Day man. I just thought that was the coolest thing ever say. I love hearing ship like that. It was like a Thursday night, right after nine and it was like it was like still like people were like staying away from the city, were like, fuck, this is our city because. I'm like, well of those old school I'm both punk and metal head, but old school punk. That was like, yeah, Green Day is not punk. But after COVID that was the second show I went to. I was like, oh my god, that's like one of the best shows I ever went to. So there's the reason, the biggest, right.

50 You know, you know what, I've gotten so many Greenee shows. I went to see them at I think it was it was Webster Hall under down, like under Webster Hall. It I seen him play in the studio in full matly it was Halloween. It was insane. It was so those guys you just didn't give a shit to play anywhere. They're so I love it. I'll tell you a funny story talk about the pop punk thing. So I was interviewing Wattie one time, right before he was going on stage from the exploit, and I was like, I knew how he would react right before he went on stage. I'm like, Swaddy, what do you think of pop punk? He went out on stage and he ripped into the crowd. He was like, fucking pup punk, didn't know that's punk, and he just went off.

34 It was the funniest shit ever I did on purpose because I thought it would be funny. Let me ask you something. You're gonna go see Mark here Ramone today? Yes, of course, I'm hoping he comes back here. I've actually seen Richie Ramone and uh, there's so many fucking Ramones. Man. I had CJ on my show a couple of times. I was like fifteen, and it played some place in city and he came up to me, and Joe came up to me like, Yo, your man sick. I was like, first, wow, up to that, I'm like, I like fifteen. I was like, holy shit, Wow. So I wish there's camera phones back then?

15 Right? Yeah? No, yeah, thank god. All the ship I did there's no record of it. I was at a show. It was a page and Plant at Madison Square Garden and three seats away from me was Joey Ramone, like right before he died, and he was a tall motherfucker man. Sitting next to him. I was like, holy shit, I'm sure. I'm like, he's twice a minute to me look alike. So tell everybody how they can reach out to you guys, buy your merch, check out all your stuff, reach NYC everywhere.

56 That's it. Whoever, Yeah, Spotify, once they reach New York City, they can find you. Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly, yeah yeah. All they have to do is go to MySpace and our LinkedIn. That's where we That's where we promote the most. My private program is still Also, I have a boombox and we have some tapes in the back of a trunk somewhere I could give those. We don't have that all that other stuff the kids follow Reach NYC on tender swipe right to us. You got this wait pipe Man Radio does have an only fans Oh my god. So anyways, we're reach in YC on Instagram and on Facebook. Nice Any final words you want to give the listeners that we haven't covered yet that they need to know.

41 Yes, Florida sucks, New York rocks. I agree. I agree. You know, I do like watch Florida man stories. It really entertains me very ing. Florida man stories are like, just I could do it all day long. I have life will be like could you stop watch? They're all real. It's all real shit like bt in the head by a gator Yeah yeah yeah, and there's banana spiders that drop down on your head. They're about the size like of a grapefruit. Yeah yeah, you know what. You know what. She wanted to like go swimming on the manatees. But then my friends like, dude, they're like so smelly and gooey, you don't want to do that.

27 I'm like, you sure, that's so funny. Well, I was paddle boring, like right where I live, and I'm in this park and I saw a fin come out of or so I called the park ranger. I'm like it was like right as far as I am, and I'm like, are there sharks in here? And he's like, yeah, there's bull sharks, there's dolphin, there's manate so I described he goes, yeah, that's definitely could be a shark, but it could also be a manatee playing that. When Finn comes out of the war. When they're playing it looks like a shark. Thank god, it was a school of manatee right there, a pod on a paddle board. They would totally At least when I'm on my surfboard, I can like fucking catch a wave and get away.

10 And this is why New York is good. And rats there you go. Oh, let's not talk about the cockroaches in Florida. First time in Florida. Yeah, I'm sitting on a on a wall at Fort Laardel Beach and this roach, this big does a flying kama caze mission at me. I'm like, fuck that. I need to get the fuck out here. Give me the Jersey roaches. I'll take them any day, Yeah, exactly, the Passaic River sewer. Rats. Well you guys, rock Hey, thanks for being here, thanks for still sticking around and making music, and thanks for being on the Adventures pipe Man.
