04 Hey, you love them too, that's sure come from f C. Why for Why come up America, It's time for the Adventures of pipe Man on w fourcy dot com west Poon beats number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man, Tess Colleges and I lied, I wil drive y R the sad Insures the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man w forc Y Radio. And I'm here with our next guest that I'm gonna be coming to this his side upon h here next week. It is. It's wow, it's coming up because you know, as you know that he who those of you follow me, I'm on the Pipe Man Radio tour right now.

12 We just did Welcome to Rockville and we were heading out to the UK for Download Festival. But first, yes I am. I was there last year. And you know what, I do a lot of festivals. I do them all over the absolute best for media person run festival I've ever experienced. Wow. Well, I mean we're playing a download I was. I'm sure you're aware. Maybe, well look at that, so you know what we're gonna use this as you're you know download, uh, you know, promotion and uh and then uh you'll have to. If you're in the press area, you'll have to come up and say hey to me. At download, I'll be there the whole time. I'll press Becky shout out. It's taking. It's all in the house. So here up, Nice, So let's let's introduce you, because we didn't get to that. We got too busy with the download. So for all our listeners, we have on with us. Luke from Pupil Slicer, how are you. I'm good man.

19 The album's coming out in a couple of days now. Yes, I've just been to the gym and got back in time for your interview. Nice. I'm feeling pretty good. We're getting reviews in pretty regularly, and I'm not going to lie. I like a lot of them attends. Sorry, I believe it because I give it a ten. I was listening to it and I give it a ten. And I watched the one of your videos and it was badass shit man. Well thanks to that. I appreciate that it's mental really the people kind of down people vibe of it that much, but I mean it's really pleasing. Obviously. I think the musicians ship is absolutely amazing, because like I'm an old school metal head okay, and yeah, so there's a lot of bands nowadays that I feel it's kind of weird.

08 It's like they're like playing in this algebraic equation into their metal. But it's not because it's mathcore. It's more because it's just they're just plugging in a formula instead of being creative. And then, like I was watching that video, I'm like, man, as some serious musicianship like and they just went in these ebbs and flows and took you on a journey. And that's what metal and music it's supposed to do. Man. Well you know, like obviously no need to say any specific bands or whatever, but a lot of bands just don't play, you know, like they don't get the chops out. Man, They're not like you get this thing like being a bass player as well. It's quite common that in metal bands half the time the bass players aren't even bass players. They just get hard it's playing bass like a still funny that that would be half of the bass players man at these metal bands. So just as an example, like you know, I'm trying to give some chops there from the bass and like just on the drums, and obviously Cat's got all sorts of skills, and so it's kind of like, you know, actually play a bit, you know, like the way that I don't know Rush or the Who or bands like that kind of actually play, which given is difficult to do in a metal context and does require a lot of thought. But you know, we're try and get a bit about it going. Yeah, I'll tell you what. I am so on the same page with you and the bass thing, because I've even interviewed a lot

39 of bands, and you know, the basis will be like, well, you know, I'm I just interviewed the band at Rockville. Their kids, okay, but the youngest their three siblings. The youngest of the three siblings is the basis why you're the youngest, You're you get beast And I'm like, this indicative of the actually say that again, it's it's it's just indicative of a guitarists, sir didn't have they look down on bass. Okay, it's pretty good though, I must say their views are pretty pretty positive on it and they let me play. Sorry, that's nice. Well, a real bassis like yourself, like it is definite musicianship. It's not just oh you know, I'm I'm bassis. You're like, you're making a whole musical sound with that bass. It's kind of like I think of guys like Steve Harris, Like Steve Harris blows people away that are guitarists, but on his bass. Or Cliff Burton. I mean, what he could do on a bass was absolutely amazing. And I think you're you're in line with those type of people. Hey, hey, you're a nice guy. So I mean, I mean, someone said it was like its vocal in the interview, which is good. Sorry. In a review, someone also compared it to the slapping style of toasting the baston and I was like, god damn, so slap bass has actually been now appropriated by guitarists. There's some serious work

12 to do take it back, you know. But cheers, man, that's a that's a that's very kind, and I guess that's something to adam. Like just generally the album and the and the and the quality of it, A lot of that is to do with Lewis John's who's the person who produced and engineered and recorded it. Because he just marshed it out of us with a with a kind but brutal and assured hand, you know, and got those performances out of everyone, and to be to be honest, he bust everyone. Everyone was shook and rattled and just he just you know, just took the kernels any anything out of everyone to just get that clinical, clinically high standard perform You know, guys are beast and he doesn't really play around.

03 You know. That's what you need though, right isn't you need somebody that's not going to tell you everything you want here or you you need somebody that's going to tell you the stuff that you need to hear. I'm not going to say if he did or didn't do this, but sometimes and all producers have done this, well, quite a few metal producers have actually just they just punched the base in themselves afterwards. And I was like, you're not going to do that to me, are you, guys? And he's like, of course not so well, let's let's see, let's see how we go. But yeah, you know, it's all good anyway. There's there's like you know, there's loads of cool stuff on the album. It's not based like okays, clean singing and all the simps and yeah, and thanks for reviewing it, man, what else did you about? Well?

51 You know, I love just it mix it to me, it mixes genres. Okay, so I'm all about that because I come from the time where oh, if you listen to this, you can't listen, and it was stupid. And I think that's the only way you really get original music nowadays, because there's so many freaking genres and subgenres and microgenres that when you're blending them, then it creates something unique. And then in that in the song that in the video, I also absolutely loved the angelic voice. It kind of reminded me of putting a little bit of Cradle of Filth in there.

33 Nice. Nice, I mean, you know that the song blossom itself. Some people have compared that to Sonic you feel like garbage these kind parents and staff or like Radiohead and stuff like this, which is cool because you can do that, but then equally, you can still be a slamming metal band, as evidence with the second single, No Temple. Yeah, well listen. I love the combination of you know, great musicianship, a melody, but not a melody like everybody every thinks of a melody, a metal type of melody. And I just love the you know where I love nowadays clean and unclean vocals, like the mix of it and putting a little bit of like you know, like I said, that angelic voice going on it just it takes me back, say that again, good cop bad vocals. There you go early you know, all that early two thousands of metal core stuff.

43 Yeah, that's a bit about We love it because I think it brings you on a journey. Like I think nowadays songs are you know, too hollow sometimes because they're they're writing the song for you know, the streaming services or TikTok or something, and it's like, you know, I got a few seconds to get their attention, and I don't know. I grew up in a time when music with a whole experience. You listen to a song, you put the headphones on, you're looking at the album and you're just like going on this journey a story, you know. I love very It's true. But music is consumed in lots of ways now and like as much as bands, they do it really well, like right like spirit Box for example, Yeah, Stack or Stack Dress. I think Kate likes quite a lot. They've just a UK band. They've released just tons of singles, you know, and I get it from like a promotional perspective, but me personally, not someone's in it, who's in the band, to someone who likes listening to music. I'm a massively into it, but because you know, you kind of go, oh, that's cool, and it's just these singles with videos in that and it's great for hype and building them. I get it from a strategic point of view, and tactically it's a good move.

01 It hits all the boxes right of how you actually breakthrough and line or at least try to make yourself more visible anyway. But I'm with you and that really so, you know, more albums, but who knows, we might do this set of singles in the future. Not a big plans to do that or anything, but you know, it's kind of the way it is nowadays anyway. Sometimes, Like I was talking with my friend Pat from an anti Flag at Welcome to Rock Bill and he was like, you know, I like the idea of just putting the song out there as soon as I make it, you know, as soon as it's recorded, put it out there, you know, instead of waiting me. This blossoms pretty still pretty fresh, right, So Mirrors, we'd recorded our first album we've recorded for had it in the can for like six months or something, and then it went to the label and then they didn't even get put out for like another year or something, so that was really old too by the time we put that. But some of these songs were just finished being molded and finalize kind of as where they were being committed to records, so they're still pretty fresh for us. Like some of the tracks, we've kind of jammed at it that we're having played properly yet and it's there now, so it's we're kind of moving in real time now. This makes it a little bit more demanding to learn the material, but it's it's still it's good, it's stimulating to do, and it's still kind of fresh because I've probably only listened to

33 the album mastered maybe once or twice so and I've just been concentrating on the tracks we've been playing. So when we bring some more into the set that aren't singles, you know, that'll still be really fun and new, which is a kind of which is unusual sometimes in the in the cyclic way that music gets cuff comes out on labels. You know, oh yea and man, what an exciting June, you're gonna first dropping the album and then playing download, Like, what are you Unlike Cloud Nine right now? It's I think, you know, we've kind of feeled the pressure of it because, if you know, we put this album out and people were kind of wrapping to it pretty well. So I think the expectations will be high. But we've we've locked in a pretty good rehearsal schedule. We've got rehearsal this weekend and then we got one on the day before download, and then we're playing.

28 We're actually doing two shows of Download. We're playing on Wednesday in a VIP I think it's called there's like a secondary v VIP area. I think that like the official pre party or something, Yes, exact exactly, and like No No Be Twins and the camp Bats playing. I think I'm gonna be lucky enough to be at that set because I probably won't have interviews on Wednesday, because I'd definitely want to be at your set. But you know how it goes to sometimes if I'm back there in that press tent or in interviews, like I don't see the later day till the later day is gone. Well, you made the effort to talk to me today. So if we're literally like in the same compounds, seem very not too. But anyway, I'm not going to bust your after about this on and we could talk again that download if you want. If you guys come up to be some meeting and we want to talk again, we'll talk again for sure. But I'll definitely practicing, man, And then we're gonna do it, because we're taking this taking this ship real serious, you know, because there's big opportunities and stuff and it shouldn't be taken for granted, and even your dog degrees shouldn't get complacent with it. I've got two beagles. There must be something outside the hound. So they're very vocal about lots of things. You should bring them into the next record, like they could like sing part of the songs. Man. I saw this picture of Synic from like the early nineties or something, and they like got the pet dog and it's hard as and

00 I was like, man, I need's a pigeon like this. Oh bad, would be cool. So let's tell everybody how they can connect you guys on socials, how they can connect you on the web. Get then we're plugging, okay, right, Yeah, it's the plug time and tell them pre order or blossom or gay away drops. Because you guys even have like a link tree or I don't think it's We've got pupil Slices dot Com to make it real easy. We've got a link to it. We've got like it for EU or UK or USA. I think it's been distributed by a prostate and in the USA, as you say, it's all my ventry, our social is still pupil slicer. My social was based on the score slicer.

46 People want to check out when I'm not when my art isn't totally getting kicked by a pupil slicer stuff, I generally just put up cool based stuff on that I'll try to anyway. Nice but yeah, yeah, yeah, and uh but yeah, it's it's that we did some decent numbers and the pre orders, you know, so we're making sure to get to people world we can. And yeah, just check us out and just just search pupil slice of us all there. We've got tons of merch that lots of effort has been and put into designing it of Tumulus, this brilliant designer. It's kind of industrial stuff. We've got a kind of logo, new logo design for it, which on our bat drops and stuff. Very cool. I love put a lot of effort into that stuff, and people people like it.

37 So yeah, check out the merch because merch is where bands actually survived and they thrive through the merch. So please make us merch core. But oh yeah, I tell people time, they can't listen to my show unless they buy the band's merch because it's only where you got to survive. Preach. That's right, that's right, So buy all their merch. Get them all sold out under merche before they even get the download. Don't listen Tide Eyes people like those because they pop out festivals, you know, among and then you can see who's working with you too. You can call them out and stay, I see you, I see you, my person. I appreciate it. Oh that's great, I love it. Well, it's been an absolute pleasure. Everybody's got to check you guys out because your music is badass. And uh, if they're going to download, they better make your sets, both of them. See probably I'm Death and Ingested, who are playing immediately after us, because like, come on, slicer, I'm Death and then Ingested. That's disgusting, isn't it. Yeah, that totally is.

44 I can't wait, man, I think I got I think I now have to get off the interview and get get packed. Dude, don't we're packing up too right? My guitar Alex has been hal I've got to out how to do do my do my pedals in the case because we're going to play a festival in Poland the day off the downloads. We're not here to be tourists, so we're gonna go and play mystic Fest the next day and my Sugar a headlining that day. Wow. Yeah, you really are in good company at these festivals, aren't you. Yo. I think that band is it Yevil playing after us? We kind of They feature some of the old school but a second way of Norwegian blackmail. Guys. Wow, yeah, it's gonna be a great month the month of June, isn't it?

37 And uh, it's gonna be even better because you guys are dropping a new album. You're playing at download it was it? Mystic Fest? Is that what it's called? Yeah, mystic Fest.
