On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Peach from the band Punk Rock Factory. They start off discussing the band's unique bio, which describes them as "four idiots doing punk rock covers." Peach agrees, stating that they never expected their fun and laughter to turn into something so successful. They reflect on the inclusive nature of punk rock, where anyone can become a punk rocker.
Peach shares the story of how Punk Rock Factory came to be. The band members had previously been in different original bands in their hometown but decided to start a project for fun. They recorded tracks, uploaded them to YouTube, and gradually gained momentum. During the first lockdown in 2020, their cover of "Just Can't Wait to Be King" from The Lion King went viral on TikTok, leading to overnight success and recognition.
They discuss the trend of wearing masks and costumes in the music industry, citing examples like Slipknot and Ghost. Peach mentions how the mask thing is currently selling records, and Pipeman shares his upcoming interview with Guar, who also wear costumes. They emphasize the anonymity and intrigue that comes with hiding one's identity as a musician.
Peach talks about the band's journey from their early recordings to their first Disney-themed album during lockdown. They reached out to various artists, such as Jarret from Bowling for Soup and members of Zebra Head, who were eager to collaborate during the pandemic. The album gained widespread attention and marked a turning point for the band's success.
Pipeman and Peach discuss the band's playful approach to music and their dedication to having fun with their fans. They talk about the "sausage army," the band's loyal fan base, and how the sausage theme became a running joke in their songs and merchandise. They express the importance of connecting with the audience and not taking themselves too seriously as musicians.
To connect with Punk Rock Factory, fans can find them on various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Twitter. Their official website, punkrockfactory.com, offers merchandise and tickets for their upcoming tours. They mention their plans to tour the UK, Europe, and Australia and express their desire to perform in the United States in the future.

0:04 Hey, you love them too? Sure, I'm see why you wake up America. It's time for the Adventures of pipe Man on W four CYD com west Poon Beach is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man. I am in the past of being a nasty They won't kid him when they called me well a witch, but you'll find them nowadays. Amended all my ways, repentancy, the lighter, made a switch to bed and unfortunately know a little magic. It's a talent that I always have possessed.
0:49 And see a lady, please don't laugh. I use it on behalf of the miserable Lonelians of Crest the dudes. Pipe Man here on the Adventures Man W four c Y Radio at Download Festival, and I'm here with Peach from Punk Rock Factory. Nice. Now, I just have to say, right off the bat, I love if you google your band name and it gives the little like cliff note bio and it says four idiots doing punk rock covers. It sums it up perfectly, man, I know, right, absolutely perfectly, that's exactly what it is. We are literally four dickheads that have kind of made a name for themselves doing covers you know, it isn't load the beautiful thing about punk rock though, it's like anybody can become a punk rock It's so good, man, it's so good. Like we were so humble with everything that's happening because this was never meant to be what it's ended up being. This a bit of fun, a bit of a laugh, and just people fucking loved it, man, I know, right, so good. See. I've thought of lately myself just because of stuff like this, because I used to do while I was young, played drums, played guitar that sang rash metal. I sucked at all three lil did I realize that that was okay? And so now at fifty six years old, I'm like, you know what, I'm put on a mask. I'll start a band, I'll suck everybody. You'll love it, and once everybody knows is us, then I'll take off the mask and will be like it's some
2:20 fucking fifty six year old dude. The mask thing is selling records at the minute that you could be whoever you like. We don't know. Listen, I'm interviewing guar later, okay, okay, yeah, And I've interviewed them without costumes or anything, and they said, you know, their management said you can't take any pictures and I'm cool with I'm cool with that. Well, while I was in the dressing room, I'm like, now I understand, I won't ask any further questions on that, right, Yeah, yeah, I mean you think about do you think about while you think of sleep token now you know? Now, yeah, that's the big thing, you know, like, man, who is it? You're a black gold?
3:01 Who are We're getting big now? And obviously you know likes a slipknot and stuff like that then as ghost. Yeah, like it's this this kind of anonymous thing is working right right, I mean, like who ever really knew till recent years what Corey Taylor looked like? Yeah, I mean I think and Kiss started it all off though, right, Yeah, and that started music off from me. That was the first album I ever an amazing Yeah, the very first Kiss album. When it first game out, I won it at a boardwalk in New Jersey at a Carney game. That's how I'm here today. That's so good. I love that. So how are you here today? What's your story? From way back? So, I mean me and the boys, we've always been in sort of original bands in the kind of same sort of circuit in our sort of hometown, and that's how we all know each other. The other the other boys were actually in a band together. The three of them were in a band together for a while, and you know, we got to a certain age and stuff fizzled out and the life got in the way and jobs and all that, and then for three of us it was me. Bench was our bassis, Card was our drummer. We started Punk Rock Factory just like one evening a week a friend of I was at a recording studio, so we would go in on a Monday night. We'd have we'd have a chill, we'd have a laugh, we'd record a track, we chuck it on YouTube. It'd get about thirty five views and that would be about it. And it was just a bit of fun. And we brought Stared in, our other guitarist, and we just started, you know, picking up the momentum with it a little bit, and it just it just it just spiraled. I mean we did
4:35 we did an album in twenty nineteen, which was the first kind of record we did, and we did a cover of just Can't Wait to Be King on it from the Lion King. And then during the first big lockdown or twenty twenty, we put TikTok was kicking off at that point and we put just can't Wait to Be King as a little clip video on TikTok during the first lockdown, and obviously everyone's at home, nobody had anything to do. Everyone's on TikTok and Instagram and kids needed entertaining. And then people just kind of picked us up from that, really and that just can't Wait to Be King video on TikTok I think overnight had like a million views. How weird is that you wake up in the morning minute and you see that saying like you're used to like there's a couple and boom you wake up in the morning.
5:17 It's insane. It's insane. I mean, we we didn't really know what to what to make of it, so we thought, do you know what this kind of punk Disney thing is? Obviously got you got some legs about it. So we thought we'll do some more Disney. We thought we'll do a couple more Disney tracks, but and then it was like, do you know what. The more we looked into it, no one had ever done a Disney album, so we like, you know what, come on, let's let's do an album. So we did the entire album, the first Disney album we did through lockdown. We did it all remotely because obviously we couldn't get together at the time, and we ended up I can't remember how it came about, but we ended up like speaking, like messaging various people like Jarrett from Bowling for Soup. We had Dennis from ten Foot, Paul Adrian from zebra Heads, and Dan Palmer from zebra Head and all these other people. We would just speaking to a mess gin and because everyone in the world was in the same boat as us. Everyone was bored, everyone's at home, nobody could leave the house. They were like, yeah, I'll jump on that. Yeah, why not, it's a bit of fun.
6:14 I got say something for me to do. And all of a sudden, we just had this album full of guests, some amazing guests, like bands that we grew up with, fans and stuff and by and then it came came out there in December twenty twenty, and that was it. Then, like the first Disney album just shot up and it's just been a ridiculous rollercoaster ride ever since. Like Wow, believable. You gotta do Star Wars next. You gotta do Star Wars next. I mean, Disney owns it, so very true. We have do you know what, we haven't even considered that you could do that, You could do Marvel. Disney owns all of it. It could be the different things of Disney. I mean that the Disney, the whole Disney thing kind of paved the path for us then in terms of like her themed albums. Yeah, so after that there was a whole new worst. We always stick with a kind of sausage vibe.
7:00 Well wait, while you're on that, okay, tell everybody like who your army is and for your merchant stuff, our fans are the sausage army. The sausage thing was such a random thing that came about. One of the very very early videos that we did before anyone really knew who we were was a Taylor Swift one for Blank Space, and one of the lines in it was we changed the line I can't bought. The original line was I can be a good girl bad for the weekend or something like that, and we change it, I can be a really silly sausage on the weekend. And this sausage thing has just picked up momentum, and we tried. We went through a stage of trying to get the word sausage or a sausage reference in every song that we could, and we kind of ran out of ideas in the end. But we kind of ran with it for the albums for a while, so we had the whole New Worst, We had Masters of the You and the Worst. So yeah, we kind of ran with it for a while, but we kind of we're kind of running thin on ideas right now. I just saw one. Your next album could be Sausage and Punkers instead of Sausage and Peppers buying right. Um, See that that's fun all that shit, because like sometimes ours may take themselves too seriously and I don't even say that in a negative one, but like it's music. Just have fun with it, like who cares. We kind of pride ourselves on that a little bit. Like like as a as a business, we take the
8:31 band very seriously. Yeah, that you should, but in terms of everything else, it needs to be fun. Like people need to be able to look at it and laugh and relate to it. So like you know, you get you get bands who you would never catch walking through the crowd in festivals and stuff. But you know we love that, like we love that we are just one of one of the people, do you know what I mean? Like, So, what you need to do though, is so you need to walk through the crowd used up as sausages with Disney grounds on. Well, did you see us walking with the Power Rangers yesterday? Yes? I got pictures. I got pictures. That was so cool. We came up with the idea a month or two ago and we were thinking, you know, we need to do something for download that people will remember.
9:16 It needs to be something memorable, and obviously we do the Power Rangers theme tune, so we decided we would open the set with Power Rangers theme tune. And then this conversation kind of snowballed and we're like, can we get people in Power Rangers costumes? And so good friends of ours the Blackout quite a few years ago, they came on stage with people who addressed as Stormtroopers and we're like, that's a great idea. We could do that with the Power Rangers. And we found they actually one of the best UK cosplay Power Rangers teams in the in the UK. Wow, So we actually went to get in touch with them and realized they already followed us, they were fans of us, that it's amazing. So we messed them when they were like, we are so down for this, that's so cool. Idea of it was for them to come on stage and then as we walked around, then they could be our entourage as we walked around. That's why it kind of looked like too. It looked like, you know, they were like your your bodyguards. Who they're the Punk Rock Factory secret service. That could be your new thing right there? So good. I love it. So tell everybody how they can connect with you guys on socials, on the web, and most importantly, buy merch, because I'm sure you've got cool ass merch that people do have. We do have some good merch. I mean we're on every platform and social media, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter.
10:37 Our website, punk rock Factory dot com is where you can buy all our merch. We got tickets on sale now for tours and we're tour in the UK in October November, and then you're up in November December. We're actually doing a little tour in Australia in September, so tickets are all on sale now for all that, which you can access through the website through punk rock Factory dot com. We need to get you to States. Well, we were supposed to be there last year. Should be a punk rock boy. Yeah, we need to get him. We need to get out there. We had issues with getting visas in time last time, so we had to actually pull the tour. A lot of bands did last real struggle, even even months in advance. We were running out of time and we wouldn't have got him in time, so we had to pull the tour. But as soon as we got more time, now that's that'll be back. Can't wait.
11:20 And man, I'm glad you're here at download twentieth anniversary. Like that's an epic. We're so happy for you. You guys are badass. Thanks for being here and thanks for being on the Adventures of Pike Man. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of Pipe Man on w for CUI Radio.
