04 Hi, you have unto Yes, that's true. W W forre you young. This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio. And I'm here with I'm from pale Face. Nice to meet you. Nice to meet you here at bloodstock Man right. Oh my fucking guy. I do a lot of festivals. This is my favorite because it's nice. It's such a true metal festival. Oh yeah, I heard that. Yeah. I also heard that this festival is at they festival. So yes, it's like I'm even more stoked to be here because of that. Isn't that cool? Like crazy? See? I love that because I'm from the States. I do all of them in the States, I do UK, I do Europe. Then the States has become typical America, like these corporate festivals that you know, it's just all about the business instead of the music. And that's why I love Bloodstuff because they're so into the music and they're so into it.
12 Yeah, music should be a passion, definitely. I've always said that when it comes to the creativity of music, the business people do your business part, but stay away from the artists. I came from the eighties where I sat backstage and watch these artists being told by record labels how their music should sound. Creativity. You are to create, you know. Of course there has to be business parts for that. Everything works right, but everybody has their part, right, it has to be splitting up and listen. The best artists in the world have always just not listened to those suits and just did what they want.
55 Ozzie perfect example, like Ozzy always was on the apologetically Ozzie and did whatever the fuck he wanted. Yes, definitely, you know, and that is. Why he's the legend, and that's why he lasted so long. And you would never think with all the Shenanigans that he would have been who he is today. Yes, right, but that is why. What was that for you when he passed away. I've seen him every year since nineteen eighty I saw you a year. I saw him at Randy Rhodes. Oh my god. I knew it was coming though, Oh my god, because even a few years ago, I said, Jaron was trying to get him to retire. I'm like, if Ozzy doesn't do live shows, he will probably pass away because he just so loves being up there. That was amazing and I felt that his last performance, he said better than he had in years.
49 Yeah, right, like he was the same good. I thought the same. That was actually surprised how good. They were, right, Like I didn't think Also he as a. Person, he was so oh, barely find words for this. It's amazing. Like even like I was just saying the last interview, I was seeing an interview with Tony Iomi just this morning and he said, yeah, Ozzie used to come up to me on stage, not of the crowd would see, like backstay crowd, and he would make faces at me during the show. Nice, that's how it works, right right, I always have a good time just having a blast. Right because listen, if you're not having a blast in this business, learn the wrong business. There's a lot of shit of the business.
31 So you might as well be having fun. And if you're not having fun on stage, how am I having fun out there? Yes? I love looking at bands and just look at him at I'm more concerned than them having fun than playing the notes properly. And that's key too. We were talking. I was talking about that with somebody the other day. It's like, I like when bands fuck up on stage because that means they're really playing the music. Yes, if you're not really playing the music, it's not going to be perfect. So for the listeners out there that have never heard your music, how would you describe it? I don't mean genre fuck genres that artists should not be boxed into a fucking label. I think we already heaviest spent on this planet.
11 Yes, there you go. But we love to experiment, so you can expect anything from our music. But we always try to follow this the heavy route. But we do whatever we want to be honest. That's key right there. If you want me to put us in our box. I don't want to box. I could not because we do everything. I love it. I love it and so have you played Bloodstock before? It's our ever first it's our first ever UK festival today. Wow, Wow, unbelievable. I also sell you. So you're gonna be on tour in Australia, Yes, which I'm a surfer so I love that. Nice. Have you been to Australia? Well, here's the flying thing. I've been all over the world, ewnans in Bali for a couple of months, but I was gonna go to Australia because I'm like, oh, Perth, there's only three hour flight and then I looked up. I'm like, oh fuck, you have to do this whole process to even get a visa to go there. I didn't realize. So now I have to go back because it is to make gold mine since I'm a teenager. They go to surf Australia, Yes, do it because like where else in the world is it better to right?
17 You know? So are you excited about that tour? Of course, it's our first headline tour in Australia. We toured there a year ago and the response was unbelievable, was crazy. So we thought I'll just not come back as a headliner. What do you think of the crowds there? Like it's crazy, like the energy is on match, that's i'd say. I'd say, yes, yeah. I'm super stoked to go back there as a headliner. Nice. So how do you think how did they receive you last time, and how you think it's going to be this time? Even more crazy? Right because the people they come because of us. What's the craziest thing you've seen in the crowd at any of your shows.
00 I saw a lot of crazy things, but once there was a wheelchair like crowdsurfing and. I've seen that too. That's badass. It's pretty sick. And I also love like good old like pushpits, good old circle pits, so me too. See, I want CrowdSurf because I when I was like seventeen, I was at show. I got up on the stage, I climbed up on the. Marshall stack swan dive. I was midair and the crowd moved and I hit teeth first into the floor. So now I'm fucking trust anybody, but I'll go into a pit because then I'm in control sick and it's best therapy.
43 Man Like. People don't get what the pit's all about. It's not about hurting and naming people. It's about getting that aggression out so you don't hurt and name people in the real world. Right, you know, I've had things happen in me that like, we're devastating, and I just went to a show, got in the pit, and laid all that pain in the pit. Yes, that's what the male community is here for, exactly. People don't get. It's funny. I'll tell you a funny story. So one year I had to do two festivals in one weekend. So obviously I can't do that, so I sent somebody else from my station to do one of them. She had never been to a rock show ever, much less a metal show. She was a country girl. And I said to her, I'm like, you're gonna have the best fun ever. Yeah, right, like country shows, I said to her. Country shows are no fun. It's a bunch of rednecks drunk getting into fights. Yes, And you're so scared of going to because she's scared of them. You're so scared of going a smell show. We don't have fights.
44 Nope. Everybody loves each other. We're like this big family. And I said, you'll probably meet a guy, You'll make all these new friends. Blah blah blah blah. She comes back of der the weekend She's like, oh my god, you're so right. Like I have a new boyfriend now, and I have this new band that I really love. I don't know if you know who they are. They're called Bring Me the Horizon See. And I was like, there, I go see. I love that story, right, super nice. You know, we're just this big family and in some ways a bunch of softies, and it's like people think we're like some bands have said to me I'm like friends with let's keep them thinking we're scary so they don't ruin it.
28 Yeah right, I love that thought. So what started you on this journey? What's that one moment where you're like you knew this is what you had to do. I once met the guitarist of Elis Cooper okay, and he played some riffs for me, like like schools out and whatever, so and that was like and then we were driving back in the car and my mom was driving. I was like, Mom, I want to do this. I want to play guitar. And that's why I stand here basically nice. So yesterday I was in the campground hanging with some dudes and they asked me if I was interviewing your band and I was like yeah. And one of them I forget his name now, but he said, well tell him. I said, fuck you. But he's a fan, not in a bad way. It's like somebody I think that knows you, Okay, okay, personally all right, it's being funny, so I don't know.
18 So I relayed the message. All right, But let's hear how people can reach out to you on socials, on the web, how they can buy your merch because they can't listen to my show unless they buy your merch. By the way, so you find us basically everywhere. Just type in pale face Swiss. You can find us on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, all over. You can find us on Spotify, buy our merch at palefacewist dot com. And you do have some badass merch by so they need to get. It, yes, right, get our merch, give us money. That way you can go to the next gig. Like people don't realize that's the only way you really make money nowadays. So if you want to see the band in your area, you need to help support them so.
02 They can get there. Right. I'm so excited you're here at Bloodstock. I'm excited for you that you're doing this headline tour in Australia. That's gonna be badass. You need to go surfing in between gigs. We'll see, we'll see there is some spare time yet. Right right, and thanks for being on the avent. Michelle Kerr was my press officer for my entire fucking career here in the UK, my entire career with Machine. She recently passed away and it was a very very sad day, and I can tell you the reason that I'm gonna tell this story is because she was family.
43 She was Bloodstock family, she was heavy metal UK family. Most of the bass that you. Know and love you probably heard of because of that woman right there. Slip Knots, Slayer, Sheenhead, trivium kills which engage, hey reed, you name it. She helped lift everybody up. Man. She helped lift everybody up, and in so many ways she helped make this entire music scene, this incredible, beautiful. Community that lives here at Bloodstock Man she helped make it. So, ladies and.
23 Gentlemen, please make some noise from Michelle Kerr. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of plate Man on w for CUI Radio.
