04 Hey, you love them too, that's sure. I'm com c Why wake up America. It's time for the Adventures of pipe Man on W four cy dot com West Pong Beats, his number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man. This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio. And I'm here with you're here with Auto. You're here with Auto. You're here with yes Auto. Nice.

58 And I gotta say, best air view of the weekend so far. And we didn't even start because you guys brought me some vinyl man and so that that is worth the whole thing. And I gotta say I was going to comment about this anyway. I love album artwork, okay, and this artwork is badass, Okay. I know you guys are from Venice. I lived in Marina del Rey as a teenager. And you know how we did it. I'm sure you've heard a lot of stories. You've heard a lot of stories. You've heard a lot of stories. Is you went into this place in the valley called OZ Records, who was owned by Brian Slagel that nobody knew who he would be today. He was just a store clerk that started this little label called Metal Blade, and he would come up to us, go here, check out this album. And you couldn't listen to it like you can now. You're like, that's freaking badass, and so you would buy it. And it was always based on how the album looked, and I like that, we can open this up, okay, and for everybody that's listening, I'm gonna pay a visual. You open this up, and I look like it looks like I'm looking at my favorite comic book. Is what it looks like to me, okay, And this is why it's about man. An album's like an experience. You'd sit there and you'd open up the album and you would just live every part of that album. So that

30 was badass. Thanks for bringing me this album, of course, thank you. So life is a game. Tell us about the new album record. I mean as far as like, you know, the the idea behind it was really you know, like moving moving out of our teenage years, um kind of becoming more like you know, everyday adults in the world. You know, he starts to get caught in the game, you know, society's game, the fucking rat race, the usual, you know, your everyday thing. But you know, it's really important to you know, be a part of that. You know, we all contribute to the society. You know. I think the earth is beautiful, and but it's important too to know what you want to do in life and go chase that for yourself, you know, like do it for yourself, live for yourself and have fun.

21 I love it. And you know, it's funny, like no generation is different with what you just said. It's like when you move out of those teenage years, it's like, now you can't blame childhood parents and all this shit on stuff. Now you have to like kind of think a little differently maybe, and if you don't, you pay the price and you get the rewards too. It's true, very true. So what what what happened? If there was something that started this band? Like what because you are all doing different things and then here we are, So how did that happen? We started? Uh, well, Brian and I we've been playing music forever since we were like little kids. We played in a previous band, kind of a childhood band, and then we drifted away from that and we both started like writing more stuff, original stuff, stuff that helped us grow.

15 That was a little more like out of the box a little more complex to us at the time because we were listening to bands like Metallic and Alison Jeans And that was about like five years ago or so, and we've been playing ever since. Nice. You know, I was at Metallica's first show ever. What yeah, And that's crazy in LA What what venue? I can't even remember, I think, Oh man, I'm and okay, so I have a story for you. This is a funny story. Okay. So this dude gets off the stage afterwards, you know, I think I was like fifteen or whatever, gets off the stage, comes up, starts talking to me and my friends, to me this business card and said, I wish I still had today Metallica power Metal because there was no thrash yet.

09 Dave Mustage, whoa had that card today? Oh my gosh, I didn't even I think I like threw it away, like I didn't know what was going to be important. Like back then, you never there was no band that you like then that you ever wanted to get, like big number one. Like you know, we my group of friends when Metallica started getting a little big, we're like fucking posers. We're not listening to them. But I still love them today, but that like that's kind of how it was, you know, so yeah, yeah, yeah, But you know, it's great to see now today twenty twenty three, that you know, bands like you guys are keeping that stuff alive. Because even though I had that gatekeeper attitude back then of like oh just play him my local club and you know, don't go anywhere, I'm so glad that we can have bands today in twenty twenty three playing Welcome to Rockville like this like you guys did to the right. It's so cool to have, like, you know, like this community come together too, because I feel like like the metal and the rock community is so like artistic, musical and like just so diverse, you know, and like when we all come together, man, it's so fucking powerful. Like you could really feel the energy, like you know, we felt the energy out there today, you know, like and it was like the first show the day. You know, it's just like dude, hanging out, stay in loco with everybody, you know, having fun, Like that's what it's all about. Like that's what the metal community brings, you know totally, you know, and it's it's bands like Suicidal that made

43 that happen. I'm pointing at he's wearing the Suicide shirt for life, and uh, I remember back in the day, like if you had long hair, you can go to a punk show. If you had you were punk, you couldn't go a metal show. And bands like Suicidal brought us together, you know, Like, and I'm glad because I used to love going to those shows. But if I went to a Suicid show before that thing, you had long hair, you got your ass beat. Yeah, I was just looking at that. Actually, like before a crossover thrash came together, it was like beef between the punk kids and the metal kids. It was like it was just like you see like a dude with long hair added like a punk show, then the punctures like beat his ass. Oh yeah, and you know it was I always thought it was stupid because our music was so similar and we were the ones day our ass beat by the jocks in school, so it's like, why not band together together. I remember one time I went with my two punk friends this place Posers a Melrose, I don't know if you've heard it, it's legendary, and we walk in that's where I was gonna get my spikes and my friends. They knew the owners, and the owners pulled them aside when we walked in because I had hair like down to hear and doesn't know in my back and and my friends come over me. We have to leave now. I'm like, I was like, why we'll talk about Layer, we need to leave right now.

09 Wow. And so the owners walked up to him said you better get your long hair friend out here. We're gonna kick his fucking ass. Dang. So yeah, So I'm glad to see. We don't live like that anymore, stupid. And we're a big family, the whole put punk metal community. We're a family. And thank god we could be in place like the Dayton and Speedway and spread that message because it's needed. You know, the message, the message you're giving on this album. Life is a game. It's a message that people need to hear, you know, especially nowadays. It kind of it's kind of a bummer now in twenty twenty three. The same things we were talking about in music back that in the eighties it is still going on today. You know, Slayer did all these shows songs about nuclear war, cold war stops, and now we're talking about nuclear war against Like, yeah, it's ridiculous now how yes, Like you know, propaganda like always tries to stir the pot, take the distraction off, you know, all the all the bullshit, yeah, going on behind the curtains and shit. So what was it like today at Welcome to Rockville? Because I know you probably had a badass crowd, which is not only is that cool, but it says a lot about you guys, because who comes on the Friday first thing to a festival unlessener's a badass band and that was you guys.

35 So tell us what was like out there? It was really amazing and we're super super thankful to play. You know, we we love building a connection with the crowd. Before our show, we were out there just talking with some of the fans out there just to build a relationship and because we want to create the feeling like like we are a family, because we are, because we wouldn't be anywhere without supporters like that to come to the first show of the day. So it was just an amazing experience. So it's really special. And um, you know, sorry for my technical difficulty. I played like the first song clean because I like didn't realize my wile was wide open. But you know, it's like a little special things like that.

16 You know, it's like, well makes a live experience, Yeah, they makes the show. You know, like watching footage on Hay five six of Unbroken Wings playing like that's raw. You know, Like I love watching Hay five six videos and these hardcore shows. Yeah yeah, man, like Jesus Piecing all those bands like they're so raw, you know. Yeah, like it's it's not a hard hardcore show unless there's like something that goes a little wrong, because like it's controlled chaos, you know. Yeah, and you know what back in the day, like when ship like that went wrong, the crowd with cheer and shit like that's cool. Shit. Like if you want exactly the studio version, just listen to the album. But live show is it's about fuck ups exactly. It's it's it's about the feeling that you, you and the audience create. So so you guys are playing Sonic too, right, that's right. Oh that's another great one. That's an iconic one. So you're ready for that. I'm I'm super ready. It's it's it's amazing to be able to see our our band name and on you know, the Welcome to Rockville and Sonic Temple lineups underlike bands like you know, tool and and Suicidal and and uh Incubis and whatnot. So it's it's humbling to see and I always say, it blows my mind how a trio can usually sound like a whole orchestra. Like I always find trios are like

46 the most talented musicians because the music that comes out of it, and you guys are just the same. Like the music you're producing, like Slipknot takes nine people to do and you're doing it with three. Thank you. You know, it's like to like, you know, like you know, like everyone's got their different sound. But I think for us it's really important, you know, we're all like practicing together all the time and just remaining tight as brothers because like I feel like the last people too, you gotta, you know, y'all gotta be brothers. Y'all gotta be tight, tight with the instruments, you know, tight with the chops. So yeah, I think it's kay what you just said to three people, because when you have too many people, there's a lot of egos, there's a lot of arguing within. I think if you're like a family of three, it's pretty easy to be on the same page absolutely. You know, we've always purposely make time. You know, we we love to jam when we practice all the time, but we always set aside time just to like hang out and and you know, like do activities, whether it's great, whether it's you to eat dinner, you'd like to hang out with our dogs, you'd like to jump in the pool that can go serve. We try to play this game called blitz Bergade, and sometimes the internet doesn't really like us that much, so great, please let us play with each other because we keep trying to like play and get in the same game and we can't friend each other, so we have to like keep playing, like trying to get in the same server, and it won't let us. So we need to tell please, man, please let's get game loft, please, because we love your game.

16 Yeah, and they're keeping us out of trouble, you know, like sticking with the video, you know, a little iPhone game after rehearsal. You know, it keeps us exactly like we're you know, you know, we're not out messing around or doing anything. We're just trying to play blitz Bergade and and and maybe make some funny videos and jump at the pool and eat pancakes or something. So when do you leave this area? We we leave this era area Era area tomorrow. So because I was asking, because I was just that's too bad. But maybe if you have time in the morning. I was designed. I live in South Florida now, and I was designed. I'm gonna wait and look at my surf app on Sunday. I'm gonna like, do I go home Sunday night or do I wait Monday morning? Like I brought my board and everything to go to Cocoa on the way home, because coco it's not far from here, but that's where Kelly's from. Yes, yeah, and it's right near here today. It's like two to three feet fair right now. That's cool. That's cool. So I saw Kelly Slayer of surfing out on on the West Side in California one time on Big Wednesday. Uh, he was laughing at my brother's friends because they kept wiping out. Yeah, yeah, yeah he was. It was like, you got this, you got this. He be very supportive of them. Nice. Yeah, he almost got it. Yeah. I started my surfing that zooma zoomas where I started. Yeah, zooma sweet zooma sweet yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. Last week that was fun,

52 nice fun. We hit yeah, we did, we hit, We hit County Line and then we hit a sunset beach a little bit. Yeah yeah, I got a bunch of a sightables. Your Your birthday was at Zooma No was it? Last year was at Zooma Beach? Nice. Yeah. We all just kind of chilled and just kind of surf and had a good time. You had some pizza, you know, these cookie cakes so good even I didn't try that at that time, man, but this this this year, I got tried. So I have an idea. I've had this idea before, Like I covered the punk festivals in Huntington. They are on the beach, you know. Yeah, I think a band then you guys maybe figure out how to do it. Should do one perform at one of those festivals while surfing, ohoa, like have the stage like set up they could Yeah, and you guys are performing like out there. If we line up the stage like to the left or the right of the point break like that could be pretty sick. You know. Then it's like you got the stage like overlooking the ocean with the backdrop, but then on like right to the side we got these like rippers just tearing it up in the waves.

00 Nice, I love it. We gotta do with like Juice magazine or something. Yeah, shout out Juice mag The dream is to play at the beach. I really want us to just play at the beach. That's like the dream, just to play right on the beach, just on the sand. It's in front of all the people. Maybe Miami too, you know Miami. Yeah, closest thing we've gotten to doing that so far as on the Venice Boardwalk. But yeah, we want to get on the sand, you know. But the Venice Boardwalk that's kind of iconic. Absolutely, that's that's icon absolutely, so it's the hearty soul of Venice. You know, I don't know if he's still there. I remember when I was hanging out there all the time, there was this dude that used to ride around on his roller blades with a guitar, guitar turban. I still see him around sometimes, but yeah, I haven't even seen him much later. Yeah, he's a legend over there, man. Same with like, do you know Tonan, he's a neighborhood He's yeah, shout out ton In. There's so many legendary and Harry Perry. Yeah, it's that boardwalks field with legends. Yeah, one day I saw that dude I'm talking about on a Pepsi commercial.

06 Oh really years ago. I'm like, holy fun. So I'm glad you brought up Juice because I've been looking at your hat. So yeah, not only can you give them a shout out, but tell them what juice is because that's pretty cool. Pools, pipes and punk rock. Yeah yeah, yeah, dude, Like, um, yeah, I just wore it, wore it again today, man, Dan, he kind of like made me this this colorway kind of like personal, which is really special to them. But man, they're they're like their family to us. We actually auto played our first show in the Juice living room nice and you know there their compounds on the boardwalk, so you know, like they've just been family and they've been so supportive and you know we have nothing but love and thanks to them.

47 So very cool. So that's what you need to do too, is like perform like from in an empty pool. You know, like back in the day before you had all these fancy skate parks, Me and my bros used to like jump off of roofs into the empty pools like we'd sneak in somebody's backyard and climb up on the roof and with our board and jump down into their empty pool. Classic classic. That's Z Boys style. Man. There you go. So tell everybody how they connect to you guys on socials, on the web, how they buy your merch because you definitely have some cool merch. How they can get this vinyl like I got because I'm cool as shit having the auto vinyl, and uh, you know everything else you want to tell them about that we haven't covered. Check out the instagram, auto band on Instagram, on the website, I think it's just auto band dot com. Then, yeah, we have our merch there. We have all the stuff there. Upcoming shows, you know, if any tour dates are in your area, be sure to come out and hang out and talk to us. We're cool people, you know, we want to connect with people, so be sure to do that. Yeah. Man, there's there's so many stories and inspirations to be caught in this lifetime. You know, I got to make the most of it for sure. I love that at Tude. That's a great attitude. And then um, you can check out the music on you know, all the listening platforms, So so yeah, be sure to do that. Cool, well do you guys? Rock You killed it here at Welcome to Rockville, and you're gonna kill it at Sonic

18 Temple. I hope to see a lot more of you, guys. Thank you, Thank you so much for doing this with us. Hey, thank you man, Thank you for giving us great music, and thanks for being on the Adventures of pipe Man. All Right, they're coming too well. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of pipe Man on W four CUI Radio.
