On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Nova Twins. They start the conversation by admiring Nova Twins' matching necklaces that say "Supernova," which is also the name of their album. Nova Twins shares that they had 11 of these necklaces specially made by Parabellum and they were all handmade. Pipeman expresses his admiration for their merchandise and asks about their experience being chosen to perform at the 20th anniversary of Download festival. Nova Twins describe it as absolutely amazing and mention that it was their first time playing the main stage. They were overwhelmed by the incredible turnout and the dream-like atmosphere.
Pipeman mentions that he saw Nova Twins at a US festival but didn't get a chance to talk, so he travelled across the pond to have this conversation. Nova Twins express their love for the US and describe their recent six-week tour and performances at Danny Wimmer festivals. They appreciate the energy and European spirit of these festivals and mention their amazing experience watching Deftones perform. Pipeman then asks Nova Twins to share a bit about their music and their journey as artists. Nova Twins talk about coming up through the punk circuit in Camden, Southeast London, and playing countless gigs to small audiences. They emphasize the importance of hard work and paying dues, and describe their simple and minimal setup on stage.
Pipeman shares his own perspective as someone who dreamed of experiencing the London punk scene while growing up in the States. He acknowledges the dedication it takes for bands to achieve success and mentions how many bands labelled as "new" have actually been working for years. Nova Twins agree and encourage other bands to focus on their own journeys and enjoy the process. They discuss their upcoming plans, including festivals like Glastonbury, their excitement about performing in Japan, and the positive feedback they've heard about the Summer Sonic festival.
Pipeman concludes by encouraging listeners to connect with Nova Twins on social media, stream their album "Supernova," and support them by purchasing their merch, available at novatwins.co.uk

0:00 Hey, you love them too, that's sure. I'm come, I'm four s why for you? Wake up America? It's time for the Adventure. So pipe Man on W four C why dot com West Palm Beach is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man. Do you This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures play Man W four c Y Radio and I'm here with no between. Yeah. I love it, and I love that you're matching necklaces that say super Nova and we loved making jury for it. So yeah, So do you sell that as merch? We did. We had eleven of these, especially made by Parabellum and the all hand made. That's pretty it's pretty good. It's pretty cool, but it's
1:30 pretty good, you know. That's awesome. So how does it feel to be at the twentieth anniversary of Download? I mean they have to. They handpicked the lineup for this special time and they hand picked you. How does that feel? It's just absolutely amazing. Obviously, our first time playing the main stage, our second time playing Download, and it was such an amazing turnout. We were just like looking out into the audience. It's the glistening sun and it was like the dream it was amazing. Yeah, and how about those crowds. I mean, come on, I walked out of Prestent very few times today, but one time I walked out, I didn't look up, but I just heard. I was like, man, who's on stage? That sounds pretty badass, and looked up. It was you guys.
2:19 I mean, we loved it. And the crowd ready came out today, So yeah, totally. So it's funny we're I was talking with your publicists because I do all the US festivals and I just saw you guys at a US festival, but we didn't get to talk. So I had to come all the way on across the pond so we could sit and talk. I have need to make the trip. Well, thanks and listen, we need to see a lot more of you in the US. Well, we love it in the US. Yeah, we had the best time. We just spent six weeks out there and the first half was until of the band called Mona, which was incredible, and then we did the Danny Wemmen festivals, which were wild, Like right, loved it. It's crazy. It's about the closest you get to European festivals to Danny Wimmer festivals. Like the American festivals have always been known like, yeah, we can't do it like Europe and Danny Wimmers try and make it more like European festivals because you guys know how to do it over here. Ye. Well it was incredible.
3:19 It was so good and like, I don't know, the energy was just electric. We know what you mean by that kind of European spirit. It definitely had that kind of yack a punch and everyone was just up for it and it went smoothly. And we're two really great shows out there. What's our a band that you saw at one of those festivals that you're like, man, this is cool seeing them like somebody maybe you never saw before that you saw it performed there. Yeah, we saw these guys already, but we saw them like in a great spot Deathtones. We were like side stage on the sickest viewing platform and it was like the sun was saying, what's the perfect atmosphere? Wow, just Gino looks pretty cool when the sun set in two right, Dan, it was just amazing. So there you go.
4:08 There was your American experience right there. So tell our listeners who haven't heard you guys before a little bit about your music, not from a genre standpoint, but you know how it came about and what you represent music wise as an artist. Yeah, we came up through the punk circuit in like Camden and Southeast London and played so many gigs, you know, to no one, to just someone brooming up in front of us. That's punk rock. Were just and we love every moment of it. Like, and we spent years just like gigging and gigging and gigging, and I don't know, we just found ourselves here eventually. We just worked really hard and paid.
4:49 Yeah, and you do as a rock band, and we're like, we're quite a simple set up, you know. It's a bit old schooled. There's like three of us on stage. We have a drummer joint with us live. Don't like everything you hear is coming from solely bass, pedals, guitar and drums, and then it's like some percussion on track. We'll keep it simple, woman. I love it. I love it. You know. When I was in high school, it was like a dream to come to London for the punk scene, you know, and I lived in the States. I lived in la and we had our own punk scene, but it wasn't the British punk scene, you know. So it's kind of cool to hear your perspective of you're coming up in the punk scene here. And it is funny because I have friends that were bands here like they're friends now and say the same thing they were playing to the dude sweeping the floors.
5:40 Yeah, I feel like, yeah, you just pay your jees and that is what a band's all about. We always encourage bands like it's not about you can't look at anyone else's journey because some bands get the hot ticket and they're just straight on the main stage and then there. But most bands grafted and graft and graph and it takes years to you know, build up and get in a position and that creates longevity. And it's the story every single show that we did prepped us for at this moment. That's part of it. Make your screw ups do it to nobody exactly, you know, it's funny. Okay, So we had the Mighty Metallica play last night and everybody thinks like, oh, blah blah blah. I saw their first show ever.
6:27 There were twenty five of us for their first show ever. Okay, And it was like that for quite a while. For ten years. They ate bologney sandwiches with no bread because it and they all slept on floor like people though don't realize that like overnight successes take like twenty years. Yes, they're like the hot new band, like it tight screws right. It's like, I can't tell you how many bands I know that people are like, oh, man, you gotta check out this new band. They're not new, just new to the people that have a discovergy yet funny story about that.
7:08 My Sunway was like, I don't know, eleven years old, he comes from from school and he goes, Dad, you gotta check out this new band they're calling They're cool. They're called Arrowsmith And I'm like, yeah, they were a new band when I was a kid too. See, So what's coming up after this? Now, we've got a lot of festivals this summer and we've got Glastonbury coming out. We're really excited about. We're going to Japan. Wow that don't love You there tomorrow, Yeah, Romania, Madrid, just I love it. Japan will love you guys. We've never been, but we are so stoked for Japan. Japan's cool bit for bands because like they don't understand word you're saying. But they sing everything and they're so into it, you know, like they just love music. Yeah, yeah, yeah, No, we're so excited for the food, for the shopping, for like the music, the experience. We can't wait.
8:11 And Summer Sonic we've only heard like great things about that festival. Apparently it's like run so smoothly and everything is like perfection to perfection. So we're looking forward to turn up to festival and it's going for it. So is there a story that you have, good or bad that's happened in this musical journey that when you get like a lot older, you're gonna be telling the story, whether it's a good one or a bad one that's happened in this musical journey. Sorry, today we've walked down to the main stage and we came in with the intro and our guitars wasn't working, so we had a major technical technical difficulty and we were like, oh my fucking sorry, Oh my god, you can say it, Oh my fucking god. And if you'll definitely been telling people that I'm used to come stage w this whole build up walk out music as we walk out ready for the big riff to come in.
9:09 You know, we're getting good up and we're like, nothing happens fun. Well now now you're pros. Now you're pros because that's what happens. We knew, we've gone through shit. So when you're ready, we're ready, everything goes down. Yeah, exactly. It's really love. So let's tell everybody how they connect to you guys on socials. Check out your music, buy your merch because ours don't survived today, will out merch and all that good stuff. So you can find us at over twins Music on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook, on Spotify, Apple Music, and we've got a website overtwins dot co dot uk. We can buy all the good merchants, all that good stuff, love it and stream super Nova definitely because there's a badass album and you ladies are badass. I mean you killed it up there here at download and you kill it everywhere, so everybody's got to check you out. And thank you for being on the Adventures of pike Man.
