04 Hey, you love too, sir. I'm wow Way up America. It's time for the Adventures of Bike Man on W four CY dot com West Pompass number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the Light Man. I've been so many years in darkness. My eyes are coming from your light. My first good look at you was blinding. Now you're the father got my weary footsteps in the night. This is the bike Man here on the Adventures by Man W four C by Radio. And I'm here with I'm here with me an hour moston Texas. Oh, and you're here at Shaky Knees.
03 We are. We are so pleased to be here at shaking knees. We feel blessed. So tell them what you're like. You know your full name is we are Me and Adam. There you go, Yes, I you know what you know? How many you know? Why? Why do you do that? Because they're gonna look at it on the interview and I'll bet you all the stupid people in the world will have no idea what M. E. N. D Adam means. We were actually stupid when we named it. Because I think it's not all the stupid people. I think it's probably all the smart people are like, why these stupid people spell it wrong?
45 Yeah, I don't know. We were we were sitting and we were making music back when we're living in New Orleans and we go drink titos and sodas at this bar Mismays every night, and we drink like fourteen of them. And one night we're trying to figure out the band name and and Vince's like, well, it's just me and at it's me and you, Me and Adam. Yeah, And so his friends always has in what kind of music you're making. He's like, oh, me and Adam are making music. Me and Adam are doing this. Me and Adam are doing that. Because we were inseparate with the hip, with the music and with the drinking of the titos at mis Mays, and so we were like, screw it, let's call it me and Adam. There you go. And so you know there, that's where we're at now. And you forgot the ah, we forgot the a too much titos before spelling me and Adam. But I will say he's he actually was like you can't bail on me. I was like, you just call it Adam, and he was like, nah, man, He's like, you're not getting off that easy. I was like, damn it, all right, it's me and Adam. There it was.
36 And you know what, I gotta say something too. You guys look the part of Texas. We're born and bred Austin, Texas, Native Texans, so you're from the live music capital of the world. That's what they say. That is what they say. I don't know. It's a close call between Austin and Nashville. It's an interesting statement. I wanted to see what you're come back with. We're a little less We're a little less Christian over there in Austin, Nashe's got a lot of Christian vibes happening that I'm not so sure about. Okay, there you go. We are fostered in New Orleans. So you know a lot of times when people say if you grew up in New Orleans or you you know, started a band in New Orleans becoming of age, their music scenes pretty fucking incredible too. Sorry, but we'll edit that out. Sorry, we don't have to edit fuck them.
24 Fuck them. So is it really true, really really true that you're the best damn band in Texas? We're the second best dam band in Texas. Number one is Willie Nelson. Oh we'll see then you lied on your Facebook. You gotta fake it till you make it. We also really like zz Top, so they're they're also from Texas. There's a couple other you know, pretty good artists from Texas. But we we'd like to think that they have to ponder this as well. You know, they see our thing and they're like, man, who the hell do these guys think they are? And that is enough for us just to piss them off one time, you know, to be against us. Yeah, for one day. They're like, what the hell this band is not the best band. I'm the best band in Texas, And all of a sudden everybody wants to be the best band in Texas. You see what I mean? Oh yeah, absolutely, And listen, I love his hat. Okay, it's tell him what it says. You have to look at it. My hat says and learnt it says, let me get a pack of reds and ten dollars on pump six. That's so me too, because I don't smoke anymore, buy smoke marbor reds for thirty six years. I would be I would get the cigarettes before the gas like, Okay, I'll buy a pack of cigarettes and I'll put this fifty cents change in the gas. Well, I heard a kids say it one time when I was checking out at Circle K, and it was like, it's such a beautiful short story, you know, because all I know is right now, in this moment, I can get my pack of cigs and I can get the car with enough gas in it to get to the party or my friends are at they'll have the booze, they'll have all that stuff shit, and then on Monday, I'll figure out where some
57 more money's at. Right Well, back in the old day is you could get a pack of reds and fill up your tank with ten bucks. Now it costs like a hundred, that's true, And being on the road has really taught us just the value of a tank of gas right now. You know, I'm glad you brought that up, because people don't realize how hard it is on you guys as artists with gas prices right now to go on tour. It is. It is hard, and we're lucky that we get to do it, honestly, So yeah, we just feel blessed for sure. What were you going to say, or we already missed a moment. Well, I was gonna say that, you're right. Ever, everything counts. So it's like when I turned down. We're playing in Charleston, South Carolina last night at the Royal American, which is like this incredible bar.
41 Top three bars in the country for me. Wow, And it's up there with The White Horse in Austin, Texas and Max Club Deuce in South Beach, Miami. Anyway, this came. I'm from South Florida, so there you go my language. This kid. This kid handed me and pack of Marboro Reds at the end of the set, and I was like, you cannot give me those because if I'm trying to it and if those are around in the van, they're getting smoked, no doubt. I know that feeling all too well. I'm a smoking more than a pack of day if I can, but not anymore. If you can, why not that like no longer can? That was my gig. Okay, So I was like, I made a deal with myself, I will quit smoking if it physically affects me. But I still was able to outrun Outskate, outsurf out everything, my kids, so I didn't quit. Then I had a heart attack after surfing. So I'm like, yeah, well, I guess that's to sign.
35 I guess it does. But I had a good run. Your kids finally had something on you. Yeah, well I had a good run thirty six years. It's a good run, like man, So you know, hey, I'm not part of club anymore though. That that's what's you know. I drive by and people are outside the bar smoking, and I'm like, damn, I'm not one of them anymore. I go stand by people that are smoking just to smell it. Oh, I it doesn't bar me. I'm not like one of those four smoker somebody's smoking there me, I don't give a shit. I want I hate the I hate the smoking bands in the bars because when I go to the bar, I want to come back knowing that I was at the bar. I want to be like, I want to smell terrible. I want like, you know, just beer all over my shoes and shit. Going to a bar now and it doesn't smell. It's like, I don't want to smell the old pumps and like all the old like nasty, yeah, the like the all the dried up beer. I want to I need, I need the calming aura of the cigs. Well, listen, it's kind of weird, isn't it that you can't smoke in a bar or a casino. It's like, listen, I understand not smoking in like church, Okay, but maybe maybe actually, I'd think more stressful than any of the other places. I probably need a whole pack of church too. And I'm a Jew, so I definitely need cigarettes in the church saloon, you know, or else I might burn. I'm a Jew as well. I've taken the communion and been laughed at once.
56 You were just hungry, right, I was, and I wanted the wine too, exactly. Hey, listen, that's why it's great, because to take it, I was like, I thought they wanted as many people to convert as possible. I was gonna fake it for a couple of minutes and get it. Well, you're just trying to convert from sober and a little less sober. Yeah, that's not that's my conversion therapy. That's not the right motive sobered to drunk. So I'm converting actively right now the way you're converting to. Well, I'm sober and I'm trying to convert the sobriety into something else. Yeah, I don't think so you don't sound like you want to be so, you know sober currently he's converting from a sober man to a drunk man. Oh oh oh yeah, that makes more sense. That definitely makes the more work is done for the day. This is this is the last bit of work we have, so we're we're ramping it up.
50 It's like an algorithmic, you know, kind of. That's why I kind of like doing interviews after sets instead before sets. Like before sets, exponential people are like just you know, they're focus on doing their set. After a set, they're done with their set, they're drinking. They let loose a little bit and that makes for good interviews. Yeah, I'll get very focused before the show. So I gotta tell you on a bottle of Tito's the speaking of that. Okay. So I just interviewed bay Brainboater from Australia. I just met Miles in the dressing room. Is very cool. Yeah, they're cool. So I interviewed Airborne, which is an Australian rock band. They sound a lot like ACDC actually, but they were so drunk during my interview. It was the funniest shit ever. Because at some of the festivals I did a couple of years ago. The new Metallica Whiskey was out, so I would be in the Metallica Whiskey booth and have bottles of whiskey on the table and make the artists drink during the interview, and boy, the start of the interview and the end of the interview, we're a whole different world. Oh it was great, but I feel like we're letting you down now. Now you're do You're doing good. You're doing good. You're you're up there. But you'll have to go listen to the interview with Airborne because that's the funniest shit ever in my life. They were so drunk and they started doing impressions of American baseball announcers, very nice. It was wild.
18 So what about sports? Since you're from Texas, are you big into sports? I am a Dallas Cowboys fan, but I'm also a Saints fan. As we said, we lived in New Orleans for a long time. Yeah, I don't like it. Then I'm a Giants fan. So fuck the Cowboys. Oh sorry, Texas, but that's wild to say that. But it's okay, we can, we can. So the interview continue at this point, all right, we will go on. All right, let's go on. So oh yeah, my grandmother's Giants. Well it's okay. And I got a lot of Jets fans too, because my mom's from New Jersey. So oh yeah, the New York grew up in Jersey. A bunch of wrong fans up there. Well, you know, the Jets and the Giants when as a kid played in the same stadium. Now the Jets moved back to New York. I remember that. Yeah. So it's like, you know it, you just pick a day and nurse football. Yeah it half a dozen, you know, you know what they say, No, half a dozen one to the other, no doubt. Yeah. So what else is going on after our shaking needs for you guys? We're about a weekend to our tour. This is a big tour We've got going on and in promotion of our upcoming sophomore album, American Drip Part Two, which is out this July. Nice to put our first album out and during COVID and we've been on the road grinding getting ready for the next one coming out of the summer. We've got singles coming out every four to six weeks.
41 You know, we got this festival, We're hitting the Northeast for the first time. We've got in New York, Baltimore, Philadelphia for the first time. We're going over to the Midwest for the first time. We've got Ohio, We've got Columbus, We've got Chicago, we got Milwaukee, we got Des Moines, we got Omaha. Then we're going down Kansas City. We got it all. Oh man, you got it all going on. If you get this interview, chop in time. Let the people know we're coming. Oh, we will let them know you're coming. And what we also need to let them know is how they can connect to you guys on socials and the web and stuff, so they can check out the tour dates and most importantly, buy your merch. Yes, that's a good point, because you guys don't make money without merch. I mean no, no, no, And then you can't afford to get to the next gig. The easiest way to if you have a young band that you like, if you find them on Spotify and they you know they're they're still smaller and they're not headlining festivals and all of that, and you want to know how you can help an artist out. I always say the best thing you can just go directly to the website, buy a T shirt, buy a hat, whatever it is, because those are those are dollars that the artist depends on every day to keep this thing floating and to keep recording music and writing songs and and having ridiculous interviews like this. So to find us. As we discussed, it's a little difficult to spell the name. We have an M and an E. That's the me, and then end that's in D and then a d am, so it's me and Adam. But there's just no A on that end. You can google. We have achieved this. Now you can google me and Adam spelled correctly, and the first will be us in our website, and you will see a picture of us, and it will be available. All the shit everything you're looking for will come right up. And
13 I don't even really spell it wrong. That's just really right. That's brilliant. I love it. And I have some merch ideas for you guys, if you don't have them already, hit me. Okay, two hats. This is how you could double your merch sales. They have to buy two hats. One says me and and the other says Adam. So they have to buy both hats. You know what me and D spells right, mend Yeah, I'm a very broken man. And then here's the other one. Okay, do you have belt buckles because you can't be from texts. You're very very correct, and we are very into our belt buckles. We have not gotten to manufacture any yet. We've had some very very good ideas for them so far. It's just it's one of those things you know, you don't want to make like a really crumby one, so it's like you want it to be pretty good, you know. And did you choose the word crummy? You're from Texas. I've never heard of Texas use the word crummy before. Well, I was thinking, you know, they're gonna have to take a lot of New Orleans in them, yeah, or whatever. You know, you just don't want it to be a piece of shit. Obviously he doesn't even have a continually an argument on that. You sold him.
28 I got it there it is. Belt buckles are coming soon, and pipe Man will be the first to receive his. Yeah, I want a pipe man one. That's a good place to put a pipe man, say me and Adam and pipe Man? All right, maybe we'll make you a special shirt there. You can we say the pipe men um, you could say whatever you want, the pipe daddies. Yeah, thank you guys so much for having us. We were meeting Adam from Austin, Texas and I need to go find a beverage. Yeah, you do need to Clive beverage. So when you find it, let me know. He was just sorry, he got a little excited, but he does. I can tell he wants a beverage. Well that's okay. What did we not talk about that you need the listeners to know. Yeah, we got the tour, We got the album. Our next single, Fumes, is coming out on the twenty six. We make like electro Americana rock and roll with like a alternative you know. It's like alternative rock with like an Americana electro vibe. So it's it's lit as hell. Our Lives show is really fun. Our music's a little bit introspective, and the lyrics are a little depressing, but they're they're also uplifting in their own right, so it's very it's very self aware and the music's it has a counterpoint of exciting music with some some notes of sadness on top. I also just came up with another idea for your live shows.
52 All right, Okay, so I don't know if you know about Billy Joel. That's not sell the first two rows of his shows because he doesn't want the people that are like spending big money to be up there that aren't even big fans. So he has his security people at the beginning of each show go to the back and pick people and the way back to have those seats. So my idea for you is get rid of those two front rows and put a bunch of bunking, bucking broncos up there, and you know, yeah, and they could ride those uh those bulls. Are they broke?
33 Are they broken or they unbroken? Whatever? The horses? No, no, no, make it like that like he would have in the bar, like my c I can have bulls and Vince's can have shelling ponies. There you go, yeah, and then you could have a contest, you know, like how bands will be like they'll have one side scream and they'll have the other side scream and see who's louder. You could have a contest to see who stays on long. We got bell buckles and live mechanical bulls. Coming twenty twenty three. There you go. Don't forget the two for two for one hats I liked. I like the hat idea. It's not bad. We actually did some some like custom like jerseys like that, but they don't. We have to be together more than we want to be together to like where ship. That says me and Adam like me and dad.
21 You know what I mean. It doesn't work out well. So I was just like, fuck that, and I have one more question for you, and hopefully you know it's two thy twenty three. You might get offended because like everything's offensive, but I think you should star in the next Uh. What's his Niger king? That's it. I'm actually currently dating him long distance. He didn't. He's in jail in Florida. When we were driving through Orlando and Jackson, we made a pit stop and I had a little cardinal relation with him in the UH in the visitor center. Nice, let's a tiger there too, Yeah, I brought the tiger. Nice. Yeah, he always too, So it was a threesome with the tiger. I didn't say one tiger. So what is that called? Then? Is that officially an orgy? Then I'm dating his mean wife that killed killed whoever? Right, Harold Basking? Yeah, I'm Carol Basking. I started I'm working out the Tiger Zoo. Now, uh, but you're here still I'm dating her.
19 Can't be dating her because you're still here. I'm dating her in protest of his relationship with the Tiger King. Is she try and fatten you up for the Tiger Well, I don't know, I mean probably she doesn't have to try that hard. Oh yeah right now. Well, you guys are badass. Love your music, love that you were here at Shaking Knees, love your attitude. You're the complete package. Everybody needs to check you out. They have to buy merch from you or else they can't listen to my show anymore. I'm just saying, thank you, pipe Doctor, thank you pipe Man. Hey, my pleasure, and thank you for being here on the Adventures the pipe Man at Shaking The Adventures are probably Man of Shaking Knees.
00 Me and Adam from Austin, Texas. We're out. Thank you. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of plate Man. I'm w for CUI Radio.
