04 Hey, you love them too, that's sure. From w f C. Wow, Why come of America. It's time for the Adventures of Pipe Man on w fourcy dot com West Pompass number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the pipe Man. Oh my, oh my god, this is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man w poc Y Radio. And I'm here with our next games. Who is going to be at Welcome to Rockville in a couple of days, And I'm very excited about that. I'm very excited. I'm gonna be there, and I'm glad we're doing a phoner because it's a lot more fun to do a phoner and do it on site sometimes so that we can go catch their set instead. And so I'd like to welcome to the show, Dallas from Melen and the Sons of Disaster.
23 How are you awesome? Thanks for having me on. It's good get to do this with you. Oh yeah, I listen. Yeah what your first show in like six years at Furnace Fest last March, and now here we are at Welcome to Rockville twenty twenty three. Yeah, it's pretty it's pretty crazy. It's a it was be a awesome experience. I was in a bad accident, So shouldn't never even shouldn't be alive so much less being able to play a show. So I'm really honored and excited to yeah play music and they get to play Rockville this year. Yeah, you definitely had a rough couple of years there for a bit. And you know what I just thought of when you were saying it, It's like you and Aussie are on the same wavelength because the same thing happened to both of you, and I always wondered, Yeah, I didn't like um so he was he in a bad I mean I had heard it, but yeah, he was in an ATV accident, and to this day it's a real problem. That's why he's no longer touring and just doing one offs now because they did surgeries on them, and like, it's so amazing. The guy survived everything that nobody would survive, and that's kind of what's taken him out. You know, when
53 when how was it was it? How long ago was he a TV action? I don't remember, but I don't remember. No, it's been years now. I might have been around the same time as you. Who knows. Oh, okay, I did hear about that? Um, the crazy thing about ATV accidents, Like I heard it and there was people in there with me, and it's sad. But most people don't survive it TP accidents because if it falls on them, and it fell on my head and I didn't have a helmet on because I was thinking I was going to be riding crazy, But it is one of those accidents where people don't They usually get hurt really bad or somehow they don't, but that's not they're not getting hurt.
39 Point part is very rare when it comes to having an ATV accident. Yeah, I've been pretty lucky because I I you know, I go to Costa Rica line. They're like, riding a quad is your main mode of transportation because it's all dirt roads and mountains and stuff. And I of the my friends there took us on a tour and literally we're going up the steep mountain and it was like all bumpy and stuff, and my ATV went up on like two wheels and I was looking over the side of the mountain and yeah, I like quickly tried to get back on the two wheels, Like I almost broke my leg trying to get the quad back down. So I wouldn't fall off the mountain. And that kind of my situation was. I was down visiting my parents from Florida. They had gotten a fourwheel and the gas and the breaker on the same handle. You know, you roll the gas and then you pull the brake leaver. Well, I was kind of getting up on it just a little bit, not too fast, right by my parents' house, and it started to get away from me a little bit.
53 So I went to pull the brake, but I was like kind of standing however, you know, standing howevering not sitting down, and I slipped from hitting the brake, and in my hand palm basically rolled the gas and I tried to hold on, you know, to try to correct it, and I hit a metal sign. Uh. I guess I was playing up to like thirty miles an hour by because I just read the gas trying to stop the break, you know. And uh, and then the whole thing ended on my head. And a girl found me with them like twenty minutes called me and it's a dead body, and uh, yeah, I can't believe I survived it. But yeah, those things. And I grew up on dirt bikes, uh, doing stunts and you know, uh uh and films or whatever, and uh and then that yeah one time on a four who I never broke in the bone the whole life, and it just took that one time. So now I'm the biggest like, you got to be careful for you. Right. It's weird too that you you know, you grew up on motorcycles and it's a wor wheeler that you got hurt on instead of a two wheeler. Yeah you think they're safer, right, Yeah, I've wrecked the dirt bike so many times or you know, uh had a motorcycle like roll over all me or whatever. But uh yeah, it's it's you can kind of get away from it or get out, you know, or whatever. But that yeah, yeah, yeah, it's a different ball
25 game. Uh yeah. So I would put I personally think and it's because your faith God was watching over you. You're you're exactly uh, you're exactly right. And that's why I think I survived my accident, was to let people know that there is a guy that loves him. Uh. Even the main trauma doctors. Uh. That night they all and like this is like because I'm not one of those people that's like that's a miracle. Or whatever. You know. I usually try to see if some things real or someone just saying it. And even the main trauma doctor was like, there has a power greater than me that took over and because there's no reason he should be alive because you know, I had bleeding on my brain, uh, ripped my kardougory, so I have that fully blocked, broke every bone in my face, My face came to slodge from my skull in a couple of places long damage broken, ripped my arm out, you know. So yeah, it is a it is a miracle. Uh. And I think that's the one of the main the main reason to me is why I survived, is just to let people know, like, man, you're not alone and there is a God that loves you and uh and rolling this together, you know, and uh, especially in today's times, it's just like, yeah,
55 people need, uh, you know, to know that they're not alone, they're they're of more than ever, more than ever. And I think music is some one of the greatest messages for that, which is what you do. So I think God like wanted the message of your music because it's funny. Okay, So for somebody like me, I come from like eighties metal, and you think of something that is metal that is Christian, you think of gimmicks like you know, you think of Stryper. That's who I think of me. Yeah, you can get farthering a White Cross. There's like I grew up in like southern like, so that was like the farthest I could go, and that was like yeah, extreme, but yeah, And then we listen to your music, and like, if you didn't tell somebody, I don't think they'd really know it was Christian, you know, But if you listen to the lyrics and the message, that's one thing.
56 But the music itself, you know, people have this kind of I think they have this kind of thing in their head of what Christian music should sound like. And I'm thanking God that we have people like you that go outside that little fence that people have built. And you're exactly right. Like before, when I was younger, because I grew up Southern bad this, I didn't I didn't even know about having music until I just somehow stumbled upon it as some you know, and everyone thought all your they thought it was like evil when I was getting into it. But um, when I was younger, I thought I had to ram my beliefs down people's throats at a concert and they kind of would be like, you know, like I came here to hear music, not you know, you preach I mean non something.
48 So the older I got, I have realized you know that. Then I think that's why people get weird weirded out sometimes when they think of Christian music, because they think they're gonna have to be maybe look down on or preached out. And when people hear music and they feel like, you know, I'm loved d and like these guys are this guy just like me and and uh and he goes to the same thing as I go through. But that's how, you know, like that's how he can Like for me, that's a big thing because or it's like only God's how I get made it through my accident. And I hope when I hope people see that and go either that guy is the biggest rip off. There's no other reason uh why he you know why he's which I'm not a rip but you know what I'm saying, like, uh, your actions speak louder and and that's what I think people really want these days. And you know, myself even included is just to talk to real conversations, to see real people and to have real talks and actually care for people and not just trying to shove something my beliefs or have someone trying to shove their beliefs or thoughts down, because that's that really doesn't get anywhere with religion to politics, it's we people just get like,
18 um, they don't want to hear about it when you start. But when you kind of meet them with love and you try to find you know, like, hey, we have what I in common, we have music in common, and then they go, you know, this is different than what I thought it would be. Yeah, totally. Well it's true though, like all these people nowadays, especially that are you mentioned political, pushing their political beliefs. More you do that, the more you push people away, they're not gonna listen. You know. It's like it's funny you should say, because I always talk about it all the time, of the only way to help a hater is with love, not hate. Hate's not gonna make them less of a hater. You know, you have to tream with love, and then it's kind of hard for them to hate while you're loving exactly and uh yeah, and and if someone doesn't understand whatever point you're coming from, it's from a political view, to a certain type of food you like, to your beliefs um. If you come with them already with like an argumentative like you're wrong, I'm right, they just naturally are gonna go, hey, I'm gonna just contrary, you know, like because you're coming to them in this like argument. It's almost like argumentative way of talking, and they're just like, you know, we all do that. But when someone comes to you and like love and it's just talking, not to try to
54 ramp, you know, force something on you. Like I'm so many times in conversation whatever I've left like learning something new or are seeing a different perspective I never would have seen if I hadn't, you know, not had you know, padding my guard, you know, by letting my guard down and just hearing what someone had to say and hearing them for their heart, you know. And how about this? Do you like the irony of that you're now going to be performing at the Daytona Speedway? I find I find after having that accent and now you're going to be at the Daytona Speedway, you know, performing life. I didn't even think of it, right, So, yeah, that's awesome. Yeah I did not even Yeah I should maybe uh tell them, like, you know, I'm I used to joke about it. I was like, you know, I can't drive a vehicle really well, but I could wreck one with the like I'm a pro at that, right. See, maybe I need to see if they'll let me, uh see how durable their cars are. Right. Well, I you know, I covered this festival every year and uh not last year, but the year before I actually got to drive, you know, when I was going to the press tent, I got to drive on the speedway. That was so cool. It's like one thing seeing it, you know, it's an earth thing actually driving on it. Yeah, I bet because it is like the um and I've only seen him. But the embankment, you know,
28 it's it's those embankments are pretty high. It's a lot bigger than than we think when we see on TV or even from a distance. Uh yep, one hundred. You're right. Well you'll you'll be there uh this weekend and perform at Welcome Rockville, and uh I am very excited about that. And I think anybody that will be there is going to get a real treat. Because you know, it's funny. Before I was doing the interview, I I was playing one of your videos and somebody in the other room. I said, hey, you gotta check something out and they and they said, oh, I'm already listened to it over here. That's pretty badass. And so there you go. So I think like your music it you know, it kind of reminds me too. Okay, it's funny. Slayer, who's one of my favorite all time ever bands, everybody thought that they were these devil worshippers. And I was friends with them back in the day because I was at their first show ever and used to hang out and we used to laugh that people thought they were actually devil worshippers because Tom is a devout Christian, yes, and a lot of people don't know that. Yeah. I heard him in their view one time. He was like God doesn't hate anybody or something he said, and a lot of people are just like, well, you know, they didn't know how to take because they thought, oh,
58 he's got to be evil, or you know, they thought he was Probably they probably thought he was selling out. Yes, their perceptions are they're different for people. Alice Cooper is as a prime example of um and I love that people can be like that where it's like you can enjoy their music and entertainment and and you can you see their views or their beliefs through their actions in their heart and like just how you know, like uh much their lives show, you know, like bring you like man, that's they're you know, like how Alice Cooper just how he's so loving and care caring and any and anytime you ever seen him, you know, and it's uh and uh yeah that does more good for telling someone about God than any Uh.
07 Are a lot of people that you know are on the sidewalk holding up signs preaching on some space. Yeah right, are you gonna cat and be able to catch Alice's set and welcome to Rockville? Yeah, I'm gonna. I definitely, Uh I want to. I uh, I haven't. I agree. I mean when I was I grew up on him. My brother gat me when I was younger, So yeah, I want to. I haven't. I've never seen performed, so I've seen you're gonna love it on I've seen him on you know, TV and stuff, but never in person. So yeah, you're gonna love it. You're gonna love it blows my mind at his age, how much energy he is and how one point he still is. So it's definitely Yeahna be fun at Welcome to Rockville. What you guys there and Alice there. I don't care about anybody else and else.
03 So tell everybody how they can connect with you guys on socials, on the web, and most importantly, how they can buy your merch because that's the only way that artists survive nowadays. Yes, um, you can find us on Instagram, our Facebook, on mailing in the Suns of Disaster you can look at the name that's and then on YouTube, you know, Malie and the Suns of Disaster, and our website is mailing in the Suns of Disaster dot net. I'm oh, gosh, my brain, I had a brain injury, says, but our merch is up there, and yeah, yeah that is. That's it's a different times now with surviving or whatever. So yeah, yeah, we have a shopify account. Nice. Yeah, and I think that's that's all the places. Yeah, yeah, all right, cool. Well, and so it's a long name, but uh just type in Melee m a y Ellie any and the Sun's disaster. But if you just type in me lean, it'll start bringing things up in Google. Uh cool. Well, you guys are going to kill it at Welcome to Rockville, and I hope everybody's out there to see your set, because I think
37 they're in for a real treat. And I want to thank you for you know, making this comeback and uh, you know, leading to the life of God so that you're still here and giving us great music. And thanks for being on the Adventures of Pipe Many awesome. Thank you so much for having me on. And it was a pleasure actually getting to talk you. Great conversation, you know. Uh yeah, I really appreciate it. A lot of times you don't have really good uh I mean like this. I yeah, I really enjoyed it. And I hope you have a blessed rush of your week and excited maybe running to you at Rockville. And uh yeah, thanks for having me on. Hey, my pleasure, And thanks for the compliments, because that's why I always like to hear because press this type of stuff for an artist can usually be the most boring crap ever, so I always love when people loved the conversation. Yeah, this was great, Uh, this was awesome. I'm I'm usually people say, oh, you, you know, like you motivated I'm you. You motivated me where you gave me a pep in my day.
