04 Hey, you have done to censure w SE Wow crazy you whycup America. It's time for the Adventures of Pipe Man on W four c HY dot com West Palm Beats, his number one internet radio station. Here's your host, The White Man Christmas based from Johnsonia, Jay Annoy. This is pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio and I'm here with Josh from Bad Flower. Yes, it's been a while since you and I talked. When did we last talk? I don't even remember. It's been a while, but maybe was it before COVID. Maybe maybe I don't remember.

07 It was so bad. Well, when you do all this shit, it just swirls around your head anyway. Yeah, but I do have to tell you something funny is I was watching on your TikTok's during COVID, and god then I caught a TikTok and I'm like, wow, those are pretty cool. So I own a pair of Bad Flower heeling No you don't, you bought some, I swear, Yeah, good for you. I'm like, now that's fucking cool. Merch man. Yeah, so I had to get it. That was such a wild thing. I did not expect that to be a thing. I made a TikTok wearing Heelis that like blew up? And Healey's responded, is that how it happened? Yeah? Yeah?

49 And then I was just like I wonder, like, how sick would it be if we had our own like band? No band has done, nobody's done that. I was like, sorry, I literally on an Instagram message. I was like, can we have her own? Heely's nice? Like so crude and they were like, whoa, we're interested in talking about it and I was like talking about manager and then we made it happen. There it is and now I have them. Yeah, and it was a limited run, only that one run. I don't think we'll ever make them again. I think you're a Twitter I won't call it the other thing, but your Twitter is also pretty funny. But who's this band playing today at Aftershot called bread Flower? Yeah? Just some band. I'm not a big fan. Yeah, they're kind of weak. I don't know why people keep booking Breadflower. They suck. Nobody likes them. Oh man, Yeah, tell me about your most fun Twitter posts that you did, because they're all so funny. A lot of times my most fun Twitter posting, Yeah, because Twitter is never fun. Well, I don't sweet that much anymore. I used to do it all the time, and now I'm like genuinely less interested in social media as a whole. I just don't care. I just don't care. It's old after a while. Yeah, I really I like that we have obviously, I'm so grateful that we have fans and people engaged and it just means the world that they're there. Well, like I much prefer to engage with them at a show in real life, you know, and that is who you are. That's what's great about Bad Flower. I mean, your music's great, but your live show. People have to be at the live show. But anyway, so I used to tweet like crazy, and like almost I would say ninety nine percent of the time if I do

20 tweet, it's because I've been drinking, Like I never know that so well explains it, right. If you see a tweet about like something coming up, like hey we have a show blah blah blah, I didn't tweet that. One of our management did. Yeah. See that was the latest tweet. That's why I said, I that is that Brett Flower was gonna be played at Aftershock. Well see that was me Okay, see, but there was another one I was just trying to look up right now that I saw earlier, and I was like, that is funny as shit with it. So what's been going on since we talked? You guys are like making all kinds of cool music. And do you think I think that COVID had one positive thing to it, and that is that artists like you got to jump off the Hampshire wheel and actually evaluate their music and get creative and take more time. And yes, that was true. I think if COVID didn't happen and we had to release music, you know, under the first timeline that was in place, it would have been a very different album. For better or worse, I don't know, but it would have been a different album.

21 I liked having that extra time, which we don't have the luxury of now. I will say this though, releasing music during COVID sucked. Yeah, I think that there was This is my personal opinion here, but I think that there was some potential in ways that our songs could have reached people that we just couldn't reach because of COVID, Like we couldn't play shows at the same time, we couldn't do this we couldn't have in person interviews, and it just seemed like it seems like we're still recovering from people not caring about art. People stopped caring about art during COVID, even though some of the best art was made during it because artists were stuck inside, but the general public was like not they didn't care. There was too many more important things like fair enough, but so people didn't care as much about art, and I I still feel that. I still feel like sometimes when I'm working on music, I'm like, does anybody even care? Is anybody gonna listen to this? Like? Probably me projecting because I don't care about things that like I used to because of COVID, And hopefully I get that back.

20 But well, when you see all the people out there today that ye, maybe they'll see they care. Yeah, And you know what, it does help. We've done we've done obviously, we've done a did a massive tour with Incubis, We've done a handful of festivals and all kinds of stuff in just in the last year. And it does help to be reminded of the people who were actually in front of you. Well, that's what the bummer was about. No live music because maybe you got that feeling because you didn't have that experience to actually see people caring, you know, and like those live streams also cool for whatever. Yeah, okay I didn't do them. People enjoyed watching them. We also, we thought we did a handful of them during COVID. We went all out. So when I say they sucked, they didn't actually sucked. Ours were dope. But the concept of the live stream was not. It's not the same for the live show. It's just its own thing. The only thing I thought was cool is when artists and I think you did it, Lacy stormed it really well, where you just did this like impromptu thing on each and it wasn't like a live show, like replacing a live show. It was just playing live And say that was kind of cool because it's like a different vibe, but not a replacement for a live show, not even close. I remember I was like, I don't care if some kid playing a recorder gets up on stage, I'm going to that concert. Yeah. I remember the first time, the first show we did back, which was a quote unquote socially distanced show I remember playing and it was our headline show, playing the Jester and hearing the entire

51 audience sing it for the first time. Everybody was crying. Wow, just because I remember that were there, Yeah, because you you started crying too on stage to you, Yeah, you were like I couldn't handle lost it because I just I like being secluded and alone, like I lived secluded and alone. But for all of these people who had been secluded for this long to finally be in a group of like minded at least on the subject of our band, right, they all had something in common, like they wanted to they like these songs, they wanted to hear these songs. And everybody singing in unison for the first time after years of that not being a thing was so like, knock you off your feet powerful. It was crazy. You know what else I remember is when you lost your voice but you performed anyway. Yeah, it didn't sang. Let me tell you something. The amount of positive talk about that particular gig was amazing. You know, most people, you know how they are, They loved to complain about something.

51 Oh blah blah blah blah blahh. There were plenty of people complaining. I'm sure I'm giving you the positive side. And back back in media everybody was like, raving about what you did. That's so cool. So yeah, it was. The people who were negative were like, why don't they just cancel, just cancel, let some other band take the bill. And what they don't know is, guys, this is post COVID. We're broke. We can't cancel shows. We can't survive. We need to play these shows. And so that was if anybody's curious, the reason that we didn't cancel is not because we thought it was cool to go play like that, but we needed to crew people to pay. And you know, yeah, that's the other thing right there. That's what people don't realize is it's not that those the artists that was affected by that whole thing. It's every single piece of the puzzle, all the crew members. Every crew members were affected worse arguably because artists at least like in some cases, we get publishing and there's other ways to make money. Crew members do literally make zero money if they can't be on the crew making you know, and I know you're one of those artists that you totally care about your crew absolutely and that's what's cool.

56 Yeah, like see that to me, that makes you cool more so than the music and even that show. In my opinion, that made you cool because it was like, you're gonna take lemons and make lemonade. Yeah, you're gonna make something, and it was. It was badass. And that's for people that were there like me. That's a once in a lifetime thing. Yeah, we're never talking about years later. It's one of those type of stories. So that's cool. Yeah, anything else you want to tell the listeners that we haven't covered yet that they need to know. I don't think so. I'm good. All right, I gotta hit a bathroom soon. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking about. Let's get you to a bathroom. It's right over there. Hey, thanks all convenient, Thanks once again for being on the Adventures of pipe Man. Thanks for having me. Oh always a pleasure. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of pipe Man.

48 I'm w for CUI Radio.
