04 Hey, you have done to the censure w SE Wow crazy you why become of America. It's time for the Adventures of pipe Man on W four c Y dot com. West pomp Beat is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the hite Man. Why waiting? Why? What's the what of summer? This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio. And I'm here with landon Hill from Imperial Side Nice here at after Shot. Yes, sir, I hear too, like Little Birdie told me. There's little ties to DWP festivals with you guys. Yes, yes, Actually it started twenty twenty one. We did a little twitch contest when we were first coming together as a band, and we won a little competition to play Rockville in twenty twenty one. Nice. And after that they saw the quality of work that we put out, the content, the photos, the social media, and they brought on two of us, myself and my guitarists. Will we do content and media for DWP as well?

32 Yeah? And that's so cool because to me, I think being a music artist, it's not just being a music artists. I think all music artists are. It's all art. So it's all like one big thing. So the stuff you do for DWP, I think goes hand in hand with what you would do with the band as well. Yeah, I think the lines are blurred, especially in the you know, current state of music. You can't just be a musician if you're not like branding yourself and putting out the best product at all times, whether it's on social media or on your website or in every form and aspect. So that's what we try to do, is just keep a caliber of product, you know that just as speaks for itself. Nice. So tell our listeners a little bit about your music, how you would describe it as an artist, not not like some stupid genre label the box you in. I always like to hear what the artist has to say about their music. Yeah, I mean we are driven by aggression.

31 The state of our band was created during the pandemic, so it came from a time where we were all isolated together and kind of put into put into a box, right, We were all told how to feel, what to do, and we rebelled against that by coming together for a month and wrote a EP that we ended up getting put out and on a record label. And then that just kind of stemmed from there. So our genre, I don't, you know, we never really put ourselves in a box like that. It's just heavy. We are heavy. The aggression stands, you know, it speaks for itself. We don't really If you listen to one record, you're gonna say, oh, this sounds this way, and if you listen to another one, it's gonna say, oh it sounds this way. You can't. I love I love that, yeah, because nowadays I say this a lot. I come from like the old days, a metal you know where even like as a thrash mellow head all four to Big four did not sound like they were in the same genre right at all, you know, And nowadays you have bands that it's almost like they're using algebraic equation to make music and they all have this sound that is like I I could always tell a band apart, and I can't tell some of them apart.

40 I think it's more important to be unique, like you guys are. Yeah, I think you're right. There's very much a system, and I think it's come down to the way our music is sold now, right, Like there's only so many avenues for our music to be heard. Like you're saying the Big Four, we were on MTV, we were on major radio, we were being pushed. Right now, we have a very small window of how we can be discovered. Yeah, and I think people are scared to get outside of that box and they think, I have to have catchy chorus, heavy hooks, breakdown, catchy chorus, and then they bring it back and it does become like almost systematic that you know, you could copy and paste. I said this my whole time, our band. You can't put anybody in my place or anybody else in this band's place and it would sound the same. We are a group of five individuals that every single one of us brings something to the table that makes us sound the way we sounded.

32 I think that's what's gonna make you last. Because going through all the decades of music, what are the bands that didn't survive, the ones that before the record labels put in this box and hear do it this way only yeah, and they disappear. But the ones that did it their way, they're still around. I definitely I would love to see. I wish I could see into the future and see what metal has in store. Something that I'm so passionate about is being involved in metal for this long. You know, we've been doing this as musicians since I was like thirteen years old. Nice so to be lived more than half my life as somebody who appreciates metal and rock music and then now to work for arguably the biggest rock and metal festival company in the world. I want to be here to push forth metal into the you know, the future. We talk about it all the time, how the headliners are x x amount of you know age that you how long do they want to play? I heard Dave yesterday talking about I heard the singer Godsmack talking about it, how they've been doing it for so long and that it's not what it was and they like are talking like that, and not that I have that opinion about them. I think that there's fucking rock, you know, more so than a lot of the other guys that are still putting shit out right. But like, we want to see the genre go to the next level and see where it goes. And bands like Code Orange and Knock Loose and these other avenues of where we're going falling in reverse.

55 There's places for us to live in the you know, in the range of metal and rock and mainstream. Yeah, and you know, two of the things you said in that area, one of them I was already relating to, and that was Dave. Because I'm gonna tell you a story when you were taught and talk about one thing and then you mentioned Dave. I'm like, yeah, I gotta talk about it because I was sitting out there in the Megadeth pit yesterday in the pit yeah, and I couldn't do it. Well. It's funny because I was off to the side and I was hanging out with one of the bands that's performing here at Aftershock, and we were just hanging out and then I saw a pit open up and I ran and they told me afterwards when I came back, They're like, we were like wondering where you way. We looked up at like, oh shit, he's going in the pit. But the thing is is I was talking to them about I can't you talk about the future. I was at Metallica's first show ever, Wow, and Dave Mustain came off the stage afterwards and came up to me and started talking to me like, I'm fifteen it was probably I don't know, seventeen or nine, nineteen men something like that, and he hands me his business card. Imagine this, Yeah, and it says Metallica power metal because they were power metal for a man, because there was no thrash, right, And it said Dave Mustain. And I was saying, I was like when I was sitting there with those twenty four friends of mine in this little club watching his band Metallica, I could have never conceived of sitting out there Aftershock and seeing that sea of people for Megadeth, as

30 I couldn't even see the end of it. Unfathomable people are here watching these guys right now. And I cred that number one to you know, bands like you and bands that came before you that kept metal going, you know. And I credit Danny Wimmer because yes, these festivals we have here in the US, I mean every one of them. Not only are they great festival as well organized, but Danny cultivates these new metal bands. It's like you wouldn't never know of nothing more without right Danny, you know. And then one of the bands that played at Louder Silly Goose. Yes, I was there when they were playing in the park, parking lit Yes, and Danny walked up to them. You know, it's like he champions us.

16 He really does. And you know, being in the I say, I'm in the boardroom sometimes with these guys, now, you know, so I have a peek behind the curtain and he loves this shit, right and he looks at everybody and you know, over the last we live in a space where we talk a lot about Taylor Swift and the big dogs, and you know, we talk about what's going on, and He's like, I don't want to fucking hear it nice. I want to talk about big metal and I want everybody to be passionate about it, and we are. And that's what you see through this is that every one of us behind closed doors loves this, and everybody at DWP loves it, and that's why we get the opportunity to do this. In our creative room, we're listening to hardcore bands and Daniel'll hear someone will ask who is this, or he'll say, oh this is and in point you know a to b oh wow, I had them on the festest time or And that's what we're really excited about is being a band that he's willing to champion. Right now. He sees us, he hears us, and he thinks that if he puts us on these festivals, gets us heard that we can be a band that plays for the next ten twenty years. And kudos to him too, because being that you work for him, he's not just putting you on the festival because you work with him, right, you know, and anything, it's probably the opposite because further the band succeeds. I don't know how much work I can get done right exactly or like how we would look. Oh, he just puts bands that are his bands or whatever, but that's not true. We're not on there. We're not on a label that he's attached to. We're not on anything attached to them outside of He cares about us and the music that we

52 put out and he believes in it. And one thing I can say is every artist I've ever interviewed, which is a lot, because I've been doing the every DWP festival for like, I don't know, ten twelve years, Yes, I have yet to have an artist ever say anything negative, exact opposite post to some of the other festivals that I do that that's not the case. Yes, I'll tell you what. The way we're treated here is something I've never experienced in my life. Right. I baffled as somebody who just like I said, I'm driving walking around, I'm seeing posters I design, and I'm just excited about that. And then I get to a trailer with my name on it that I didn't make somebody else, did you know? It's something else that now I have a writer, you know, things that were never provided to us before that are just in the little things.

37 You know, we play. We play clubs all around Vegas. We'll play the House of Blues, We'll play in all of these venues, and there's no level of care. They don't care if we sold two hundred and fifty tickets for them. They do not appreciate us. But the fact that we're the last man on the bottom of the thing and we're getting treated the exact same way as the guy who's headlining the stage. Is even though we are playing last on our stage, because we're playing the after party this time, which is crazy to think that we play after corn. Well, I'm happy about that, you know why, because I gotta sit in here and I normally, if you were on the you know earlier, I wouldn't be able to catch your set. Oh I love that. I love to hear that. We're really excited to get out and play at night. You know, I know, it's like most of the time, anytime we play fest anytime we do stuff, it's the you know, we're in the beginning, we're in the first stages, and we're never mad about it. But the fact that I get to play at night and it's gonna be a little cooler.

28 I my guys were telling me, you might need to wear a sweater. I'm not a performing like that. I don't know how to act like I know, right, but yeah, that's another bonus, right because I always say to ours like, how the hell do you perform in this crap? Man? We're a Vegas band, so coming from Vegas. Yeah, we're born in bred for the heat. So every time we come out to these festivals and it's hot, it's like being back home. So we thrive in this environment. Same for me. I live in Florida, and it's about as humid here as Florida, and it normally isn't I don't know. Yeah, the wet, wet heat is something that I don't understand, but you know, know that we're figuring it out. Any other things you want to listeners who know about your band that we haven't covered already. We dropped to EP, our very first EP that we've put out, came out a couple months ago through Mascot Records. We're very proud of it. It's definitely our foot on the ground. We're establishing ourselves. We want people to listen to it, tell us what they love, tell us what they don't love.

26 I love. I love reading comments that are constructive or if they tell me I fucking suck that so far. When we got announced right after Pantera was dropped, a lot of the comments said who the fuck is this? And I thrive in that. I want people to say, who the fuck is Imperial tized? It's better, it's better, and then they go look and then if they like it, great, If not, I still got the number streams. You know. We want. We want to just get people to hear us, to see us, come out to a show. We're gonna continue to keep playing and just keep rocking for everybody. Well, you're gonna get people out there that do that who the fuck is this? And they're just go in so they could prove you suck, and then you win them over and they're like, oh fuck, yup every time there it goes. I love it. Tell everybody how I hate you guys up on socials on the web by your merch especially. I'm sure your merch is more badass than any other band playing at this Fastida. Yeah, we are very proud of the product that we put out. We want anybody who wants to support us financially to get their bang for their book. Imperialside dot Com, at Imperial Tide, everywhere we have socials everywhere. You can find us, you know, standards things, but merch. You go to our website, there's a little merch tab. It's direct to you. You don't have to worry about it not showing up. Nice. Yes, sir, I love it.

39 I love that you're here at Aftershock. I love that you're part DWP because I mean, you're like the complete package. So thanks for being on the Adventures of Payment. I appreciate you for having us. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of plate Man. I'm dumb, you force u I Radio sh
