04 Hey, you love them too? Sure, I'm come from four C. Why for you Wake up America. It's time for the Adventures of Pipe Man on W four c y dot com. West pom Beach is number one Internet radio station. Here's your host, The White Man Friends wentz Alm so you can This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four C by Radio and here with Gabe hell Gara from I Prevail Nice here at the twentieth anniversary of Download. I mean, I've been saying the whole time that you had to be hand picked to be on this lineup, Like a twentieth anniversary, You're just not gonna throw a bunch of bands on there, and you're gonna hand pick the best ones. As that feel. It's wild to be able to play with some of the bands that we that inspired us to play, right, You've got all these incredible bands here, so to be even in their presence and then in the presence of all the fans is truly like awe inspiring and we're honored and we're really really stoked to play that.

38 It should be awesome nice. Now when you're coming here, did you even fathom that it would be hotter? Than playing at Welcome to Rockville. No, actually, I am dripping sweat just from sitting down and talking in him. Right, I did not imagine this. I live in Florida. My student videos in Florida, and I'm like, what the hell is this? It's wild, and you know, air conditioning is not super popular never here now, as you can tell, we do have one way over there. Oh okay, it works if you're standing in front of it. I might go hang out over there after this, I know. Right, Oh man, but you guys did kick ass a Welcome to Rockville. Thank you?

24 That was that was That show was epic. Love it. I love that. See I always love that festival because it's the shortest route for me because I do all the festivals. Obviously this isn't the shortest route. But when they moved it from Jack's to Daytona, I mean it's just iconic. Did you get to drive on the speedway? Yes? Yeah, so we the tour bus actually drove on the speedway. And the craziest thing to me about that was, you know the outer banks where where the cars turn. You know, you see you see that it's on an angle on TV. But when you are when you are there, it's like, oh, this is like a seventy five degree angle, Like I couldn't even climb this thing up like outside of a car without falling down. Like it's really scary to think that cars are going on. Oh yeah. People people that worked there were telling me that if you walk up there, or you could walk up, you won't get back down without falling. And then okay, so like they said, you have to drive at least fifty five miles per hour to not flip. Yes, and I have a cheap I'm like, if I drove two hundred miles per hour, I'm still flipping. But it was funny.

43 I was talking to Christine in the press tent and Selena. I was like, I got my skateboard with me. Do you think I would get in trouble if I tried going on the skateboard on it? And they're like, just wait till after you're done with your interviews. Did you do it? I didn't because I didn't. Why get them in trouble? Like they would have gotten in trouble, you know. Yeah. So I was like, but I was tempted, Yeah, but I probably would ended up at the hospital. Yeah, I mean the hard part with the with the skateboard I would imagine is it's not a super smooth transition from like the regular road to like that right bank. It's kind of like a sharp edge, So it would be hard. You could do it, but it wouldn't be like a smooth ramp or anything like that exactly. And then coming down probably you would because of what you're saying, you would hit the bottom instead of like going like this, you would just go do and flip over the nose of the board would just hit in the face plant. Not fun, Yeah, but I would have been worth trying just say you could do it exactly right, to say, hey, I skateboarded on the Daytona Speedway. It'd be a sick TikTok clip for sure. You're doing like a kick flip off the bank or something. I didn't even think of that that that would be cool.

56 Yeah, you know what, next year I might have to do that. You're also playing another couple more of my favorite festivals I cover after this. You're going to health Fest. Have you played there before? I'm honestly probably the worst person in the band I remembering which specific festivals we play. I think we haven't played that before. But I could be wrong. So let's hope it's not like last year. What happened the first weekend? It was one hundred and four degrees. Oh no, yeah, it made this look like winter. Oh so I think you're just bringing all the weather. You know. I prevail the health fest name. It makes sense for it to be super hot, you know. Yeah. Well, and at night when bands are playing, there's fire everywhere. It feels like you're burning in hell.

42 Like there, it's such an iconic venue there, it's like wild. Yeah, you know it's not I mean download to me, it's a much better festival, you know, and not just because we're here, but just the way they handle every day in the organization. I didn't even realize. Like when Mattauka was playing last night, they said, you know, if you go back to Monsters of Rock days forty three years at this venue, Wow, forty three years, that's crazy. Can you believe that? I mean that, that blew my mind. You know, you do for that long. You you know, you gotta know that how to do it and how to you know that all of these festivals are logistical nightmares. So the fact that any of them happen at all is a miracle. But but yeah, definitely some some run smoother than others. I mean that's older than Mentawica.

31 Yeah that's crazy, you know. So, and then you're also going to be playing aftershock. That's why my favorite Danny Wimmer festivals. It's I mean, all of those festivals are so fun, Like we we have such a good time at all of those festivals. It feels like our people really come out to those ones. Yeah, we we had We had really really good luck at one of them. Like I think the first Danny Wimmer fest we played, we like open the festival up and we like broke the record for like how many people in attendance came for like the opening act. Ever since then, they've treated us really well and we've had just yeah, just our people are there. We've had a great time there, which is which has been awesome. And every time I've seen you at those I mean, like the crowds are sick, you know, welcome to Rockville. I was out there. You know, it's rare I get out attempt but I did get out for your set and appreciate it. It was freaking sick out there.

20 I'm gonna tell you, I was in the mosh pit for Metallica mosh pit for bringing Me and then Matallica again, your pit at Welcome to Rockville was sicker than Matalla. I'm not even kidding, and listen, I'm originally from the Northeast, so I shoot straight. Yeah, I will tell you if it's not, I'm telling you it was bigger, sicker, more wild. Like it was even like I had to think twice, like maybe I shouldn't go in there? Ye right, and that and that's rare for me. Yeah, you know so yeah, yeah, I mean we're honored.

01 Man, that's awesome. You guys are bad ass. And like, how about the new song. That's a pretty badass. You want to talk about that? Yeah, I mean which one we've got? We've got a few, all of them. Yeah, let's talk about all of them. I think it the latest one came out in March that you just dropped a single, Deep Ends, Yes, yeah, yeah, that one's been been really fun. That's like the fun little ballad that we get to play where you know, each night we'll have the audience put their put their lighters up. Right, It's not we're not reinventing the wheel here, but from stage, that's like my favorite view ever. When we're playing that song and you're seeing all the lights from the crowd kind of just feels like you're all you're all in it together. I think that's like some of the really cool things just about live music in general is that you're all part of one experience, and you know, for us on stage, we're just a very small part of the experience. Everyone in the audience in the mosh pits putting their lights up like that's that's really where to me, the magic is cre it is.

00 So we're just honored to be like a part of the whole whole experience. And every band has to have a song like that. So you can take a breath in a mosh pit for a couple of minutes, and we appreciate it from stage two like that, when we get to that song, it's a nice little like, Okay, I can take a breath. I don't have to do any double kicks on this. I can just chill out. And plus I mean I just I do personally like playing ballad songs like they're they're groovier. You can kind of lay into the pocket a little bit more. And now I'm talking drummer talk, but of course, but for me it's super fun, you know. So yeah, we're having a blast with that song. And then yeah, we've got stuff from the ballads to the really heavy body bag song that we release a little bit ago, and we try to cover the full spectrum when it comes to the set in our albums.

46 That's why I like about you guys, Like it's very diverse. It's not like the same song. Every time I find nowadays a lot of metal bands, they just played the same song over and over again, basically the way I look at it, you know, And that's why I like you guys, because it's so diverse, and even within the song it's like taking you on journey, which is so old school. Yeah, yeah, I appreciate it, man. Yeah, we that is intentional, and you know, thankfully, like we have a band of a lot of like diverse opinions and you know, upbringings of like all of our we have a lot of different influences and as musicians we're all pretty different too, so it's cool to have a band where we can all come in and bring a little bit of ourselves to it. And we're really happy that you know people like you and everyone else. Not everyone else, but a lot of other people enjoy it as well, which is awesome. And going back to what you're saying about the ballot, Well, I was thinking about while you're talking. So I was remembering last night seeing Lars like he's like pounding, you could see on his face and everything else, And next thing you know, they're doing one.

48 They're slow ones. I just imagine Lars. It's like, huh, thank god I can show Yeah, yeah, yeah, I definitely If he doesn't feel that way, I definitely do. Is there you go? I love it. Well, tell everybody how they can connect on your solcials. They should know, but just in case and buy your merch most importantly, because that's the only way you guys survive. Yeah it should be I Prevail band across all socials and website. But yeah you can. You can find us. You search I Prevail anywhere you should be able to find us. And yeah, we'll see you over there. It should be a good time. Absolutely, I love it. Thanks for being here at download and thanks for being on the Adventures of Pipe Man. Thank you man. I appreciate it. You got Hey, this is gay from I prevail and you are listening to the pipe Man from W four c Y Radio. Thank you for listening to the adventures of pipe Man on W four CUI Radio.
