04 Hey, you live on too, sus Sure, I'm from four see wow you wake up America. It's time for the Adventures. So pipe Man on W four CWY dot com. West Pond Beach is number one internet radio station. Here's your host, the pipe Mans n Jack Wait, no Dutch ch going out, just smart. I get you all by from the way of Kissed Me than This is the pipe Man here on the Adventures pipe Man W four c Y Radio And I'm here with Hexo Nice here at Louder than Life, sir, So, how the hell did that happen? We know a guy Nice yeah good, a good friend of ours works here. So we uh, this is actually our first show ever. We formed around a year ago. We've been we've been practicing, you know, writing music. Oh my bad and uh yeah, just you know, got the hook up at this festival. We've got a few more shows coming up soon after this, so stay tuned. So what do you expect here at Louder than Life?

26 I mean, you know, being that's when you're you get that email call whatever it is, since your first gig ever and it's a major music festival, Like what goes on through your head? Yeah? Well, the most of us are pretty young, or all of us are pretty young. Actually we're the youngest banded louder than life history to ever play here. So it was it was really overwhelming. It's been a lot to prepare for. You know, there hasn't been like a lot of like control over anything. That's always been all over the place. But my bad, but yeah, it's yeah, yeah, it's been a lot of like pushing shove we because like there's been like we all live like pretty far from each other, so it's kind of just like cutthroat get where we can, you know. So it was just like a lot of hey, let's get our stuff together and let's lock in, you know, right. So being that you're not that close in proximity to each other, how did this formation happen? Because a lot of times, you know, when you're your age, it's friends you're just hanging out with, or it's in high school or in college or whatever.

37 And so how we formed was so I wrote our first single with waste of time and I had to just like desire to form bat Like this would sound way cooler if we had a band, right, So I reached I went out on Instagram, I went onto like a hunt for the best musics I could find, and these guys found these guys and here we are. Nice. See that's the beauty of social media today because you know, right, I mean, because you are kind of limited in your local geographical area of like who would be good in the band. And that's why a lot of bands they'll change lineups like the first years of the band. Yeah, but I think with socials now you can kind of pick and choose exactly, you know, and kind of come up with that cool formation right from the beginning.

25 We're like a superband, all the all the best from all the best places there you go. Literally, that's a cool way to put it. So tell our listeners about your music not from a genre standpoint, because that shit's bullshit, you know, Like that's right, and let's I like to hear what the artist has to say about their music. Honestly, I don't think, like when it comes to our sound, I don't think there's been definitely with us kind of love the similar sound, but like our actual song, I don't think there's anybody doing it right now. We have this very how I say, like we incorporate lots of lots of different genres into our sound, which you know, genres, I agree or bullshit, you know what I mean? People should just make what we make. But I believe, you know, I think we all do a We all do a pretty good job of you know, writing writing from you know, places that about things that we feel strongly about. We never try to like you know, bs our way through a through a song, you know what I mean.

25 Nothing, nothing that we're writing about ever comes from like yo, I heard this song. Now I'm trying to like make a new song that sounds just like that, you know what I mean. It's all it's all coming from you know, what we feel and like what what our hearts decide to put out there onto a page, you know what I mean. And yeah, you know it's worked out pretty well, I guess so. And most importantly, we kick ass. So there you go. That is most important right there as a punk band, I feel like that's heart and soul you feel. Oh and what he said, Okay, so I'm all about that, because how do you really have a really good punk band unless you're young, you know, like because i I'm friends with now By verterviewed Joe from the Vandals, and everybody likes to ask him when are the Vandals gonna write new music? And I never do because I know the reason why, Because he's like, yeah, he's like, who wants to hear some fifty year old talking and writing punk music? Like it's not Green Day, I don't want it. Yeah, so maybe you'll be side stage for Green Day tonight.

32 Huh right, and then they call you out on stage to play with them. We're about to play, We're about We're about to play death beat on stage with the Great But it's true, like punks a genre where I think it takes that teenage angst. It's like I've been saying lately, I'm like, how did my all all my old punk friends from the eighties now are all a sudden pro government that makes no sense to me? Like that back then especially, it was all about it. And that's the same with the boomers. You know, the boomers were originally the hippies. Like why do the young kids that have something to say end up becoming the ones that young kids don't want them to say anything? Yeah? Exactly, you know, So I think I think it's better. Like even bands like I saw when I was young that were young too, and some of them maybe playing that will definitely play in this festival. I'm like, I like them better when they were teenagers. They had something to say, they had something to sell.

34 It was authentic, it was new, it was original. Yeah, it's just not new anymore once you get famous. It's just EDIM was trying to be you. Yeah, but I think it's best when you is original and you you make sense. Yeah, oh yeah, And that's why I like when bands like you take a band like bring Me a Ride in that everybody's given a lot of shit too, but at least they're evolving instead of writing this. Ali always says, I want to write the same song for again. You know you just you're going and evolving as you grow in the industry and grow as a musician for sure, which is true to you, Which is important you feel in this industry when you're like trying to like write your emotions and write how other people can feel you onto something that's really you know, Yeah, nobody, nobody understands teen teen emotions like teenagers, which we all happen to be teenagers so exactly gives us like a good inn at our competition. It's like a like gives us an advantage to people like I don't even even the older people who are legends in the game but don't have much to write about it anymore, you still get like a step up, I guess, yeah, because yeah, but you're writing about it's more relative too. Like there was a joke I'm gonna say, because your shirt at one of the festivals that one of the bands which I won't mention that is a pop punk band, everybody left. They were the headliner, and everybody left because they're like, you know, I got into this while I was fifteen. I can't get into these lyrics right now, you know. It's

05 like, and that's what happens. It's like those lyrics that when you're fifteen, sixteen years old, I don't know, if you're at forty fifty, they don't make as much sense anymore. Yep, I agree, percent it's it all. It's like what's popular now, you know, Like what's popular now isn't going to be popular probably fifty years from now. What's popular now wasn't popular fifty years And the issues too, Like some of the issues are the same, but some of the issues are vastly different. You know. Yeah, I've been saying a lot. The best bands nowadays, new bands nowadays are the ones that have blending genres and the band members like have different influences because otherwise it's like this formula they put into the music, and it's like every single band sounds exactly the same because this is how you're supposed to sound in that genre. But you said the greatest words, like nobody sounds like you, and that's the way it should be. Yeah, you know, you even go back to day, you could tell the difference between every punk band, you know, and nowadays there's something that makes them that exact.

13 People like the same, just like fast drums, but if you play really goose, it's not the same, you know, right exactly, you know, like GBH, Discharge, Subhumans, Exploited Dead Candies, the Originals. Yeah, I mean there's is there anybody else that could sound like the Dead Candies? Like No, the whole, like DC punk scene as like a whole back then was crazy. I mean, yeah, you get really into it. I mean, I mean they were just saying like fu to the government, and that's still happening, which is what's so like beautiful about punk, you feel, is that it's become normalized and it's become like cool to say f you to the government now, which is like okay, yeah, like everybody probably for the most part, degrees like f the government, Like yeah, you know what I mean. But back then when they were doing it, people like the Dead Kennedies, nobody was doing that. That was that was like people will people never talk about how music has revolutionized America, not not just you know, like like like music itself hasn't just been revolutionized, it's revolutionized America, and nobody talks about it. See Yeah, And that's a great point because like when I was a teenager, it was only US metal, had some punks at piercings, tattoos, colored hair, and you certainly wouldn't get like one hundred thousand people to a festival. It's like if you got if you got thirty people to a gig, that was a fucking big gig, you know, right right, So you're right,

45 yeah, absolutely, I mean, now it's become like a thing, has become like a whole pop culture movement all that kind of stuff. But it started with punk bands like the Deck Kennedy's, people like Black Flag, you know, Bad Religion people like this, who were innovators of the punk scene, you know what I mean, And they brought up the seen into the mainstream music and then gave the opportunity to people like Green Day in Blink one eighty two. Yeah, so to kind of push that genre and make it more like modernized with the whole pop punk, we're we're hoping to be the next step in punks nice and I dig that because we need that to continue, because I think all the topics we've talked about in punk are way worse now. It's like it didn't get better, it got worse, and there's more to talk about. So the voice needs to be there, and punk has always been the only genre that end is free to speak their mind like and just say whatever they want. That's truth when it comes like we've heard from a lot of I don't remember, I can't tell you who it was, but we've heard from a lot of people where it's like like I'm glad that I'm seeing you guys do this because you guys are keeping it alive.

50 You know, no, no, because as great as DK is, they're not going to keep it alive in twenty twenty three. You know, bro, the dead kids are dead. Exactly, no Jello, no Dead Kennedy's. And that's not like a hate thing. I mean, it's just like, I know, very few kids are age who are like bumping Dead Kennedy's, you feel, Yeah, I agree. I think the only one that's really stood the test of time in that way is the Misfits because they're just some fucking phenomenon. They're just a phenomenon, you know. But even then, you don't you don't see a younger demographic listening to Misfits at all. It's it's all people like there's there's a lot of people who aren't, you know, like what people would consider true pop punk musicians, like people you know, like Machine Gun Kelly. Like Machine Gun Kelly got booted off this stage right here. I was here for that, and I'm gonna say it right now here to bring the respect back to pop punk, you know what I mean. And I'm gonna say right now, I love what you're saying because I was one of those people that wind them off the stage because it was like, you don't, yeah, he was talking shit about Corey Taylor, like first he mess with M and M. And that's why I came over here, not because he was a real rocker or a real punker, and then he talked shit about Corey Taylor because they're playing at the same time, and I guess he couldn't handle that. Slipknot had a bigger, bigger crowd than he did. So you know, that's not punk. What's punk is I don't give a fuck what they're doing. We're just gonna play,

22 you know, that's it. That's it. I love it because that's a misconception too. Everybody thinks like punk and metals about hate and anger and this and that. No, it's a healthy way to get out your aggression, so you're loving on people instead of hating on them. Right, So how do people connect to you guys on socials, on the web, by your merch all that good stuff are We're mainly active on Instagram, so it's hexam Music, h x LA Music altogether all caps, and then that's our main platform right now. You can find us there. You can find updates about certain things like more exclusive things at hexla dot com or it's hexel music dot com, same as is the instagramer dot com. Get on that brother, get on it nice. That's where our updates happened. What else you want the listeners to know that we haven't covered already. We are going to absolutely rock that stage today. Hey, yeah, if you're at this festival somehow and you're listening to this, I promise you come to Roadhound stage at two thirty will not be a waste of your time. We're gonna fucking kill it.

28 This is not one and done. Nice here to say he is here to stay, We'll be back. Well, I can say with one hundred percent fact that talking to you guys and from being from the real punk scene that I am you're the real fucking deal, and I'm glad you're here at Lward and Life. You are gonna kick ass Dean. But everybody on the radio here knows me as pipe Man mayn't know that. Yeah, I was always my lad. Well, you know, it's funny everybody as he's like, you know, ideas, just like they do with band names. And I've had bands sing about that, you know, but really my last names Piper, and it just somebody called me pipe Man way back when there you go. I like it. You know what you guys can do. Since since your creative young punks, other bands have liked right on the spot in the interview, sang a song like, wrote a song about pipe Man.

30 Can you do that? We need our guitars, bro, we gotta grab really quick. What was it? What was it? What did you talk about? What pipe man? World? Only one more step away from pipe Man? Like I've always said, get this through your head, pipe Man. All right, we're we're guys. Were done. Yeah, that was pretty good though. Actually that was pretty good on the spots say there you go. That that is one of the better ones. And now now that's yeah, that song's dedicated to me. Now give us some pipe there you go. All right, man, thanks for being here at Larder in life, and thanks for being here on the Adventures pipe Man. Thank you, we're at and you're listening to the Man on radio. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of Pate Man on W four CUI Radio.
