04 Hey, you have unto censure. I'm wow, crare you young, Why. Become America, It's time for the Adventures of White Man on W four C why dot com West pomp Beach is number one Internet radio station. Here's your host, the White Man. Donald would need time, your lord chief, We'll call me here. Let me get you give me a little thing that I want.

57 This is why Man here on the Adventures by n W four C by Radio. And I'm here with. Jill Vanni from Jill Vine to hire guns man. Nice, sir, I'm glad that I have you and not wanting to hire guns Yeah, I mean. Too, man, I'm glad. Yeah, they might. They might have talked some trash if I wasn't here. You right exactly, and they wouldn't have as cool as a shirt like, yeah, tell everybody about your shirt. That's pretty cool. So one of my buddies has a clothing company called Murdered and on my shirt I have George W. Bush and a big tangoing hat holding about twenty lean cups. In his right hand. So yeah, man, and then he's left hand as the devil horns.

38 That's it. I love it he does. So what's he at your show today. Yeah. Man, he's gonna be here later on. So you're here at fucking Rock Oklahoma. How badass is that? Dude? It is fucking insane. I think we wanted this is something festival been wanting to do for for a while, and now for the stars to align and for them to ask us to come and invite us, I was like. Let's fucking do it. How'd that happen? Anyway? What is it? How did that happen? Anyway? Man? You know, we started getting into the business of really pushing on the rock side of things, you know, a few years back. You know, we always wanted to do something within the music business. You know, people thought that we were this honky Tonk whatever band, and we shot up to honky Tonks and played our you know, distorted guitars and started seeing I would you know.

31 It was just it was beautiful, man. And and then we go to that and then getting these opportunities to work with these different labels and different management companies to go out and to win an iHeart Award for New New uh Rock and Alternative Artists of the Year. So that was that was crazy, man. So absolutely, that is freaking amazing. Two things I have to say about that. First of all, I was one of thinking about the Danny Wimmer festivals. It is they do always, even if it's a festival or rock festival, they mix in other things, no doubt. And what it proves is that metal heads don't only like metal people think only music they like.

13 It's just our biggest passion. But that doesn't mean we can't get down with Giovanni or that's it, the Oxymorons, yeah man, or like yesterday we had Royal Lynn. You know, it's what it's about. Music is music. Fuck the genres, that's it. Let's just all be together and help each other because that's what music's about. It's the best therapy. There is no doubt, no doubt. Man. This is an outlet for me at one point, and it still is an outlet for me. Because all you know, honestly, I don't know where or would I'd be doing if I didn't have this as one of my. Outlets, man, right, And it's very cathartic, right, you know, get that stuff out of you instead of doing bad shit.

56 That's the way I look at, no doubt, you know, I even look at the mashpit that way. Okay, that's where I can get my healthy aggressions out. So I'll beat somebody's ass. There you go, and it has helped many times. And listen, even after somebody you want to beat their ass, let's sell it in the mashpa. And then you find out that you'll end up friends and pick each other up instead of beating each other's ass. Yeah, it's a beautiful thing, man, totally, no doubt. So you know you got President Bush on there, okay, And I didn't know he was a metal head. I thought maybe he was honky Tonk, but turns out he's a metal head and he likes you guys.

37 Yeah, I guess that's hard too, man, that's hard too. Yeah, he's a really good supporter of high guns. Yeah, there you go. Yeah, so what made you make kind of a switch over in for lack of a better term, I hate the word genres, man, It was just. The whole back to the now, put in ourselves in a box like all the time. You know, the beautiful thing about music is I grew up on many genres. I grew up on country, I grew up on metal, I grew up on rock, I grew up on all these different things towards like now, I'm my own person, I'm my own self, I'm I'm my own human being.

19 That if I want to go right a metal album, I'll go right a metal album. If I want to go write a rock album, I'm gonna go write a rock. If i want to go write a country rap album, I'm gonna go. I can. I am free will to go do that because for me, I grew up listening to all different kinds of genres. And it's like, but each time that we go and venture often to do different ideas, we still have each piece and it still sounds like Joe Vanni and the Higher Guns. You know what I'm saying. You have a sound that's a mean it asks to be a genre. And I'm with you one hundred per I freaking hate that artists are playing a box by the powers that be. Yeah, you have to be a uh.

00 I had an artist I was managing that I had a connection with Sony. I brought her to Sony and she does go in different genres and they didn't want to pick her up unless she picked one genre and not just a genre, but a micro genre. You're so specific, I would be I would be not having fun if that was me as an artist, the whole point of being an artist is creativity and experimentation. How can you experiment or be creative when you're in this little. Teeny box yep, I totally agree. So I'm glad you're doing it. And you know what, there's a lot of that going on now. My friend Joey Roll is proving how you don't have to be in one fucking genre and you're not gonna be shunned by anybody. He's loved by every crowd that he's in, absolutely, you know, And that's the way it should be, you know.

03 And instead of having politicians having us at war with each other, let's all get together with music and be together. And I look at it that way. I look at the genres or like dividing and conquering, unite, peace and love, no, you know, totally and unity. When you go out there as an attendee at a rock show, for sure, there's no outsiders. No, we're all outsiders that are on the inside. That's what it comes down to. What was that moment in time in your life when you knew this is what you had to do?

45 It was I wasn't going to college. I just graduated high school. I was working these boyshit jobs just to get by, and I wounded up at a pawnshop in Stephenville, Texas, man a little town, and. I was sitting there. I went to an open mic that night. And I got done playing the song and a guy comes up to me and hands me like a ten dollars bill. Man, he has to be a ten dollar bill. And I'm just like what, like it clicked, like you know. I'm like what you know all these times you come into these open mics, doing these things, doing my thing whatever, and I'm like, I picked that ten dollar bill. After my little thing got done, I went over and I was like, hey, man, like no, like it's his open mic.

36 He's like no, He's like take it. He's like and also it's like I don't know if you have anything booked, and I'm just like wow. And at this time, no, like what I'm just playing this open mic that is just something to get me just whatever. A kid that had no didn't know where to turn, and he was like, man, how about you know I come play with this guy WI. His name's Clayton Landy. This band. At the time, I was all star struck by you know, these little Texas bands that are down there. I was just like, yeah, so then that's how it started, man. And one show turned into another show and it just started snowballing, and and then yeah, man, I was noticing that the things I was going on in my life I would write down, like every time I would go to write a song, I would talk about my personal experience without me even knowing, and it just like I was like, no, I have to do this, like this is what I was meant to do because I saw how hard it hit some other people, like after shows, when they come up to be like, bro, thank you bro, like your song saved my life.

42 And when you hear shit like that, man, that. You know that changes your life, no doubt. And it's just like I found it. This is it. It's exactly why. You know. You know what I love about your story because most people their story starts a lot early. And I like your story because it tells people out there that when they get out of high school, if they're stuck, there are other avenues and it doesn't have to be something you did your whole life. Right, no doubt, man. And you know, and we all yeah, dude, we all go through stuff. Everybody's human beings, you know. Just you know, I like to say that I just got lucky.

25 Man. I was just a guy that was writing these songs, not knowing that they're gonna go anywhere, but somewhere, somehow it hits somebody's or a few people's heart strings that they're like, man, I know exactly how you're feeling. Well, hey, so do I let's talk about it? Yeah? You know so yeah, man, that's what I really love about it. And it isn't a trip to like you can write a song and it means something to you and you're getting stuff out and other people relate, and maybe they're going through something like you, or maybe they're going through something nothing like you, but they still relate and they get what they need to get out of that song, no doubt, no doubt. And I think that that's a key to be a successful artist, because there are artists out there that I don't know, they want people to get out of it what they meant it to be.

15 And I think songs are not meant. That no for the listener decide what they're trying to bring to life. Yeah, you know, it's it's it's their own. That's that's a beauty in it. Man. You can't. You can't give them the spoiler. You gotta let them think. Be like, huh, I wonder if he's talking about this, I wonder if this happened, you know it just in case. It applies, it applies, Who cares? Yep, that's it. You know, it doesn't have to be the same for everybody. That's the point, you know, was they're a lyricist in your life that really did that for you, like you just those words, they just it was like he was writing to you or she was writing to you. Yeah.

59 Man, I listened to a lot of like I don't know if you've heard of a guy named Guy Clark. He's a Texas singer songwriter. I listened to a lot of Texas guys growing up, Man Towns, van Zan, Guy Clark, you know, just that kind of style of writing. Maybe even here and there, little Bob Dylan. Man Newer Age probably I don't know, see, there was probably really one when I was in high school. They were they're really popping off. Man. I really enjoyed how they were doing their thing. Yeah, man, just yeah, just you can I don't necessarily know if I'm have a specific lyricist that I necessarily make sense, you.

42 Know, because every song from every lyricists could have some time. Yeah, no doubt. You know. Is there a band here at Rockklahoma playing today that you want to see? Yeah? So I've been a huge Slip Knot fan. Yes, since I was in elementary school. Man, so I've always I remember being in a junior high looking at their duality music videos during computer class and all this stuff. Man, to finally being here and getting to seeing them live tonight is man, it will be really, I'm excited, it will be. I'm excited. Man. Did you happen to catch Clown and Corey's kids? I did?

26 I did. We pulled up in the in the in the van, and I was just like, oh, bro, they're about to go on. So we went over there and checked them out for a little while. You know. So they're pretty good, man. They were awesome. Yeah, they worked that crowd right, Yeah, dude, it was awesome. They are bad ass. They're really badass, dude. Yes, I mean, listen, if you're going on tour with your parents your whole life, I guess, yeah, I guess that's what happened. He you know, you know, what do you got going on after Rocklahoma that people need to know about? So we're gonna start kicking off back on tour a little bit. We finished up an album that we have that we plan on releasing here pretty soon, so we're about to start getting and being prepared to announce all the the Land of the Lost tours, what it's going to be called, what the album's going to be called. So super excited.

16 This one is probably the heaviest Joe Vine Higher Guns album. I was going through a lot of shit during the making of this next album, so it it's kind of crazy going back and listen to the album now and it's just being like, now that I'm clear headed and level minded, it was just like drugs are a motherfucker, you know. But it was and yeah, man, but it's with I was like, man, should I put it out? Should I not? I was like, no, it was me. It was the chapter in my life exactly. So it's just like, man, yeah, I'm going to put this out the chapter of my life. We all fucking slip and fall, but as long as it determined on how we were act to whenever we slip and we fall. Yeah, are we gonna cry and bitch about it? And are we gonna get up and does ourselves off?

06 So yeah, man. So I'm on my evational speaker and there's this one more evational speaker, James W. Mitchell, and he says, it's not what happens to you, it's what you do with it. There we go, and that is the key. We can't control what happens to us, but we can't control our attitude it. And so that's bad ass. I like that. That's it's gotta be such a trip when that goes on. Where you listen to a song that you wrote a while ago, Yeah, fuck, I ain't even know I was thinking that sh yes, man, you know, because you don't think about it at the time, So it's kind of weird to listen or read it later, yeah and go wow, yesn't especially if you're in a dark place like wow.

50 I didn't even realize I was in that dark of a place, you know. Yeah, man, it was pretty wild album. I shed a few tears listen to it one time, just driving home and I just turned it on on my truck and I'm driving and I just I'm like, what is going on right now? I'm just like wiping tears off my face because it's just like, you know, I just think about the ship that was going on. That had to you know, I wasn't just hurting myself. I was hurting the people that were around real life. No, it's so crazy man. So well, yeah, I'm happy for you, man, Thank you. Man coming across the other side. That's it, dude. Yeah, I'm seeing it, and I gotta tell you it's pretty wild. I'm sitting here, we're talking, I'm looking at your neck tattoo.

33 Yeah. And the reason I'm looking at it is two days ago here at Rocklahoma, I saw a chick with the same exact tattoo in the same exact place. Hell yeah, I'm like, that's weird because it's not like it's a common tattoo. Yeah. Yeah, that's a swingers thing, dude, is it. I'm just kidding, you. Know, it ain't an upside down pine apple. I was gonna say, if that reports and swiggers, I definitely don't want to be why I get stung. Yeah, they have dominatd now. I'm just kidding. Oh man, that's good ship. I'm kidding man, yeah, no, I was born in November, man, so you know. And then I thought a scorpn tattoo looked hard on your neck, so I was like, why not.

19 Let's see. I love how things can be such as simple as that, and maybe people should sometimes use common sense. Like one of the things I never asked is how did you get your band name? Yeah? Okay, And in your case, if I were you and somebody asked me that in the interview, I'm like, do you have a fucking brain? I mean, like, just read it out loud in your head and you might figure it out. It's pretty easy, yeah, man, yeah, yeah. The crazy thing about that too, is that and like I forgot. One of my friends asked, It's like, man, are you ever gonna change the name jivelyne Hired Guns? Like cause the gun the hired Guns have turned into. The actual band names the band like you know, family, you know. It's just like, man, I don't know, you know.

05 I was like, I don't know if we could necessarily do that. You know, I think the band name sounds badass, and I feel like a lot of people do too, so I think it does. You know. Yeah, I'm thinking it's. All people think what they think. That's it there, it is give everybody your socials web how they can reach out to you, connect to you by your merch because that's most important. Yeah, and everything else. Yeah, gille Vanni and the Hired Guns on all social medias on Instagram, I think it's Geo and the Guns. And then we have a website called Geoandeguns dot com. We have an email that you can subscribe to and you'll be updated with all tour events, all newest merch drops, newest songs. We have an app that you can go and download as well. And yeah, so just yeah, we're out there somewhere. Just type in Jill Vianne the Hired Guns Man.

58 Well, I love that you're here at fucking rock Loan. Thank you likewise man bad ass, and thanks for being on the Adventures pipe Man. Thank you so much. Thank you for listening to the Adventures of Pipemin on w f c u I Radio
